Durable Goods Orders Dive 4.6% Despite Huge Jump in Defense Orders

The Census Department Advance Report on Durable Goods Manufacturers’ Shipments, Inventories, and Orders shows durable goods orders fell 4.6%. Excluding defense, new orders decreased 6.6 percent.

The one bright spot in the report was core capital goods (non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft). Core capital goods new orders rose 0.9%.
