You Must Beat Your Opponent at the Ballot Box Not the Courts

The lesson of the day applies to the US, UK, and the EU. The next election rates to be a disaster for German centrists. And in the US, Democrats are likely aiding Trump.

Bavaria’s Trump

Eurointelligence comments on Bavaria’s Trump

The latest polls have the FDP at 4%. Five years ago, the FDP narrowly scraped in, but this time they might narrowly miss the 5% representation threshold.

But the bigger story is the massive rise in support of the Free Voters. They had 11.6% last time, and had been polling at around the same level. But the latest poll has their support surge from 12 to 16%. This is an increase by a third. They are not out-polling the AfD, which at 14% is also performing stronger than in the previous elections, and stronger than in the previous polls. This is disaster for the CSU and the other centrist parties.

The overall lesson is that you have to defeat your opponents at the ballot box. Not in the courts. And certainly not the court of reported public opinion. The EU commits the same error with its rule of law procedure that it has tried to apply against the populist governments of Poland and Hungary.

The same is also happening in the US with Donald Trump. There are enough non-Trump supporters who are outraged by the fact that Democratic attorney generals are trying to get rid of Trump through legal processes. These trials are backfiring on the Democrats.

This is now happening in Bavaria too. We are living in a twilight zone where the traditional media still command the bully pulpit, but where they no longer call the shots because voters have other, and usually better, information sources available to them.

In the UK, the media succeeded by persuading enough Conservative MPs to dump Boris Johnson, and to replace him eventually with Rishi Sunak against the wishes of the party members. To oust a popular politician like Johnson through backdoor proceedings has predictably backfired on the Conservatives. Is the nomination of a prime minister against the wishes of party members not the bigger scandal?

Court of Law Strategy

Some of the court cases against Trump are a joke. You have to be blind to not see media bending over backward to protect Joe and Hunter Biden, while souping up every conceivable charge against Trump.

In my opinion, they both deserve to lose, but if Trump and Biden are the nominees one is guaranteed to win.

Democrats have a clear court of law strategy aided and abetted by mainstream media court of opinion that is as one-sided as it possibly can be.

Democrats are desperate for Biden to run against Trump, and their efforts now look to be a primary success. The election may be another matter because not even the Democrats want Joe.

All of Govt is corrupt, especially the courts and electoral system. We have become a Banana Republic where it only matters who counts the votes. If you don’t see this, you’re delusional, and also believe the Govt can alter the climate, but not elections.

The only question is what is the citizenry going to do about it? I know what the establishment will do. They will prevent Trump or any outsider from winning the election, even if they need to use assassination. They know massive civil unrest is coming from their desperate measures to hang on to power (which includes war and CBDC’s), and they will use lockdowns to prevent the protests.

The splitting away from Virginia and the south was easy for most West Virginians. However the three counties of Jefferson, Berkeley and Morgan were run by Virginians, including the very large grain farms owned by relatives of George Washington. On the other hand, the new and promising railroad line that had already shown its usefulness out to Harper’s Ferry, was being built through these three counties on its planned way to Pittsburgh, Wheedling and Ohio. The Union absolutely had to own the whole length of it for its huge strategic advantage.
So when the vote was held for these three counties as to whether to stay with Virginia and the Confederacy or to split away with West Virginia and the North, there was only onle ballot box, located at the railway station in Shepherdstown, and there were several Union Soldiers protecting it and checking out each voter AND which way they voted, before allowing their votes to be entered.

The ballot box did not win the Civil War, more and better guns did.

Well said Mish – for once someone is speaking sense. Dont bother with those who would put there head in the sand and say we should stay away from politics. The German generals tried that tactic and they were still held accountable for the holocaust. America and Canada is being destroyed by these so-called liberal forces who want to force there opinions on everyone and yet its ordinary folk who will have to bear the brunt of their mismanagement and try to sort out the mess that they have created.

Something I don’t understand about the Democrats.
Why a candidate is chosen who is completely senile, almost mentally retarded ? So this means that someone else will really govern, someone not elected. Are there unable to find someone valuable ?
There is also something about the voters: If it were certain, according to the polls, that such a candidate would have no chance of being elected, the Democrats would have to choose a real candidate (perhaps there is no one…). On the Republican side it seems that there are really other real candidates than Trump.

Its been six years looking for something on biden. Think they would have found it by now.
Seems a lot of republicans think trump is guilty they are just afraid to lose their jobs.
So if their party wont regulate themselves can you get mad a the dems for trying to uphold. The constitution.
Sure it political everything in politics is.
The republicans get prosecuted in the media and courts more than dems. Maybe just maybe they try to get away with more.
Im up for trump getting a fare trial. Imo from what ive seen on the surface This definitely needs to go to court.
The republican party is dying. Failing to change to adjust to the times. Stuck in the 50s mentality with aging voters policies that dont reflect voters needs resorting to more desperate tactics to draw voters.
Here is the new observation: Pass some crazy law you know probably wont hold up in court. If it stand( win) if it fails call the court corrupt. Another . Win win

Prosecutors simply present evidence, suggest charges, and only indict in these cases after a Grand Jury of citizens agrees that sufficient evidence was produced in order to justify an indictment. A politician running for office is not a special class of citizen in the eyes of the law and should not be. This idea that politicians should get special treatment under the law seems to be prevalent in some constituencies of the population and this is dangerous. Furthermore, the idea that a future President should pardon a former President indicted or convicted by a jury of his or her peers comes from the precedent set by President Ford. Ford’s pardon of Nixon was a major error that has created a political culture that now puts politics ahead of justice and creates a culture where a person like Donald Trump believes that a candidate or President he is above the law.

Doug, I generally find your comments among the most sensible here, but, I disagree.

The true problem is money, without it you don’t win elections, the only way to get it is to appeal to campaign donors.

Thanks to the Supreme Court, “money is free speech”, which effectively means the wealthiest donors have the most free speech.

American democracy is in a hopeless state, leaving us to vote for the least detestable candidate instead of the most appealing, because this (post-Citizens United) system of legalized bribery only yields to the most unscrupulous candidates who are willing to stoop as low as needed to score win for their donors, while promising lies to voters.

WAY too premature to make that claim.

A lot of people voted for Biden specially because he wasn’t Trump. That’s similar to 2016 when people voted Trump specifically because he wasn’t Hillary.

Biden isn’t very popular at the moment and he’s doing absolutely nothing to make things better for Joe SixPack in any way. There’s a very real chance people vote Trump specifically because they don’t want 4 more years of Biden and you only need to flip a couple of contested states to win the election (in other words you don’t have to win the popular vote). This is why the Democrats would love to replace him with someone else.

The rules & procedures for collecting the electors’ votes stopped Trump’s end around. It had zero chance at succeeding. Does it make Trump look bad? Absolutely. Is he guilty of sedition? Not in my book.

Had Nancy Pelosi stationed 3 armed National Guardsmen at that one entrance where a bunch of dumbasses fought with Capitol police, those protestors would have respected those uniforms, and no one would have gained entrance to the Capitol.

And Nancy Pelosi and, or her Sgt at Arms told the police at some point to let people to the Capitol because the entire day was a Democrat / FBI trap for Trump. It was the biggest honey pot ever set.

WHAT GOOD REASON JUSTIFIED NOT DEPLOYNG THE NG?

Now, if that’s how you want to run a country and try to get your political opponent to step all over himself, then go right ahead. However, we’re not going to call that a democracy. That’s entrapment and it’s illegal.

We’re living in a banana republic.

You’ve seen the video of the 3 Capitol police officers standing in front of the locked doors where Babbit was shot, right? The video clearly shows them moving out of the way for absolutely NO REASON. Seconds later, protestors start beating on the doors. A frame clearly shows Officer Byrd, who shot & killed Babbit and was recently promoted, has his gun pointed at the doors. Shortly thereafter, Babbit tries to climb through the door and is murdered.

WHY DID THE OFFICERS ON HER SIDE OF THE DOOR NOT ENGAGE HER OR THE 2-3 OTHER GUYS BEATING ON THE DOOR BEFORE HER?

WHY DID THE SWAT GUYS STANDING FEET AWAY AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS NOT CLEAR ALL OF THESE PEOPLE OUT?

WHY DID PELOSI OPEN THE DOORS TO LET ALL OF THESE PROTESTORS INTO THE CAPITOL BUILDING?

If you’re not going to investigate Trump, then you need to investigate Pelosi and her crew for obviously extremely bad decisions and potentially illegal by conspiring to entrap Trump & his supporters. Otherwise, you’re promoting banana republic America, and we might as well hand over the keys to Xi and have us all bend the knee.

You’re spreading total lies. 1/6 was 98% the fault of Nancy Pelosi & the FBI. The whole situation was preventable with as little as 25 NG troops.

“Trump tried to pull a coup.”

I’m not a fan of Trump in several important ways . . . But

He told everyone to go peacefully & protest. He had crackpot lawyers like Eastman telling him that what he was trying to do was legal. He tried to get Mike Pence to reject the votes, because “in his mind” he was 100% sure the election was stolen. He knew this started the moment states moved the goal posts. I seriously doubt you’re going to get anyone to be able say beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump told them he knew the election was fair. His entire state of mind was the election was stolen, from well before it went down, through Jan 6th and even today.

The dems pulled a coup when they had states modify their voting process outside of the legal requirement (aka, statutory authority). Done! This WAS illegal!

They pulled a coup when Zuck spend $400M+ to pay tons of people monies to illegally cure ballots.

Not too far down the road, they’re going to try to pull a coup by packing SCOTUS. Then, they’re going to do the same thing by granting Amnesty to what will be 25M illegals (~15 prior to Jan 2021 + 10M open borderers). And that doesn’t count all the babies born to illegals that are here illegally. Back in 1787, illegal immigrants weren’t on anyone’s radar. Something tells me the writers of our Constitution & BoR wouldn’t care for anchor babies. And, they sure as hell wouldn’t care for open borders which is the direct cause of anchor babies.

People hire lawyers to give them legal advice. I totally agree that Trump was given very bad legal advice, but what the dems are doing creates an enormously slippery slope. Trump’s cooky lawyers bear most of the blame, not Trump. And nothing he’s done, again rises to the level of sedition. It had very bad optics. The dems should have investigated it with bi-partisan support and issued a report that would have hurt Trump politically. Then, they turn that into a campaign strategy to defeat him, but you DON’T weapoize the DOJ against your political opponent. You let the people decide.

But, why did they weaponize the DoJ? That’s very simple. They’ve known since the day after the mid-term elections that Biden wasn’t going to make it to a second term. His cognitive decline & actual illegal dealings are going to force him out of the race.

If Jordan gets his impeachment inquiry and then gets his hands on the 17 tapes that he’s already listened to, he knows how this ends for Biden. And the dems know this too. Possibly the craziest part is that there are Republicans that are STILL fighting impeachment. My God! Forget about everything illegal Biden has done and simply impeach him on two things: Open borders and & Afghanistan. Both of those are clear reasons for impeachment.

Had he opened the borders for say 12 months and then closed them realizing it was a really bad idea, then I’d say you’d give him a pass. If he sacked 2-3 really high-level people in the Pentagon & DoD for what happened in Afghanistan, then you probably hold off. Again, you let the American people decide through their vote.

We’re witnessing the precursors to a civil war. It’s that simple. How much longer it takes is a very hard question to answer, but we are squarely in the breakout phase. The crisis comes when dems really start coming after guns, outlawing them & moving forward with mass confiscation.

The whole point of all of these discussions is to make the absolutely certain point that America is now a banana republic. We have completely driven off the cliff, Thelma & Louise style.

It’s a NATIONAL EMBARRASMENT that the MSM & big tech are working so hard to protect the current president who has CLEARLY done illegal things along with his son. These buffoons have been doing for years exactly what the Russia / Ukraine collusion “CLAIMED” Trump was doing. But, they’re actually doing it.

And the justice system has been weaponized. The one-sided hypocrisy of what’s going on is such a gob smack gut punch to America that it’s mind boggling that we’re all sitting around twitting our fingers letting all this bad sh!t happen. Most large, democrat run cities are crumbling before our eyes.

America is being overrun by an enormous number of illegal aliens. The absolute bad vs good that will come of this is indescribably imbalanced and will reveal itself over the next 5-10 years. The toll in illegal drugs is by itself incalculable to the downside.

Sorry, Zardoz, but you’re left-leaning ideas aren’t the recipe for saving America. Mine might not be either and the path may lie somewhere in between. But, Trump didn’t commit sedition. He’s Trump and we all know that that means. It means he’s really not Presidential material, acts like a child, but debates pretty well, and has 10’s of millions fervent supporters.

If & when he’s convicted and pushed aside by the justice system, a bunch of crazy loons are going to come out the woodwork. That’s not the America I want to live in. I’d rather have fair elections, but that’s now a thing of the past.

It doesn’t matter who’s running. The election has already been decided and it’s not in favor of a conservative.

How do people deployed away from home serving the country vote in your 1 day voting paper ballot dream?

Have them submit a photo with them holding their ballot and drivers license along with the ballot.

Maybe you shouldn’t have hundreds of thousands of people deployed away from home ‘serving the country’ (meaning constantly threatening every other country on the planet, or actually mass murdering people in cooked up wars whenever the Empire thinks it’s in its interest)? That said, other civilized countries manage fair elections including their expatriate citizens just fine, it’s not that complicated, try watching and learning once in a while.

Unfortunately photo IDs do not guarantee dips..ts and dumba… getting into office. Look at Trudeau and lots of politicians in European democracies. They were voted in faire and square with no controversies because European voting systems are much more robust than ours and yet voters are still able to vote for the most dumb people to get into office. It’s not a great system but the alternatives are even worse so we will just have to suck it up and go on.

The UK has a habit of not consulting the voters before they change prime ministers. The party did it to Thatcher and the party also did it to Neville Chamberland and replaced him with Churchill all without a general election. Recently the prime minister of Finland was replaced by the party in power the same way.

I’d favor a simple civics and critical thinking test to go with the ID. Republicans know it would end them, and Democrats now it would end them after the republicans made room for a new party, so it’ll never happen.

All men are decidedly not created equal, and most of them never bother to improve on what they were born with.

An IQ test or similar for being able to vote would instantly be called racist by the dems. Just like anything else that improves voting integrity. Because they know it would doom them.

It’s funny how a few of the commenters here attack Mish for pointing out the obvious and one that anyone can see outside of MSNBC/CNN.

I’m not a big fan of Trump by any means and his big mouth/enormous ego is not a great example of playing “4D chess”. He’s immature and quite petulant.

However, the last 7 years are pretty hard to ignore. They won’t let him lose on his own merits and have repeatably tried to sandbag his campaigns. All you do is lend him more credence and create a bigger cult of personality.

I know people that voted for Joe in 2020 and won’t be voting for him again in 2024. That’s an even bigger problem for the Dems than trying to throw Trump in jail.

Both nominees have plenty of issues to go around….

He committed CRIMES. He’s being prosecuted for them. If he had any decency, he wouldn’t run at all, but he’s gonna throw the GOP under the bus trying to keep himself out of jail.

The non-kooks in the GOP are fully aware of this, and trying to keep him off the ballot.

Technically you only commit crimes after you’ve been successfully prosecuted. Up until that moment you have to put the word ‘allegedly’ in front of the phrase ‘committed crimes’.

The whole Russia hoax was technically a crime too since its been proved to be a made up conspiracy. Yet no one ever was prosecuted for it.

Hillary was not prosecuted for her CRIMES. Hunter was going to get a sweetheart deal that was going to ignore all of his CRIMES. So any of the criminal claims against Trump don’t matter any more. It isn’t the Republicans who should be gearing up to impeach Biden, it is the Democrats, considering it is they who have been declaring “no one is above the law, not even the president.” Democrats are obviously liars and frauds, by not doing so.

The DOJ/FBI are CORRUPT.

People can see what is going on and it just increases Trump’s popularity.

“He committed CRIMES”

As did the Founders…

Darned near everyone have little choice but to commit “crimes” every day, when stuck in hellholes with 18 million pages of arbitrary so-called “laws.” 17.99 million of who exist for no other purpose than protecting, enriching and empowering the protected classes, and providing them permanent cover for arbitrarily choosing to prosecute anyone they feel may threaten them.

There is no overlap between “Limited Government” and unlimited made-up “laws.” Stick to the intersection of the Ten Commandments and the Bill of Rights, plus minus, maybe and only maybe, a precious few administrative details: And “committing crimes” just about may signify something useful. As of current, it does not.

And what exactly is Brandon doing? Has he flung himself off the alter as a sacrificial lamb? Of course not. He might accidentally fall off the alter due to his senility & feableness, but he’s not going down willingly.

EVERYONE is simply waiting for Jordan & Comer to get their hands on the 17 tapes. That’s when Brandon bites the dust. Good ridden to the creep / law breaker.

Biden is a national embarrassment. He’s literally making America less secure every single day he stays in office. His policies are killing people. Americans are being murdered by illegals every single day. Blacks are increasingly singling out whites over hate crimes and murdering them. And in return, we get whack jobs like the trans girl in TN & the white supremist from FL killing kids & blacks.

The whole country has gone nutzoid, and a large part of this division lies at the feet of Brandon, the MSM & big tech.

The latest that peter Schiff mentioned(Schiff is Feinstein’s replacement for being a good hatchet man for DNC)is that states will not even put Trump on the ballot, using the Capital protest as an insurrection excuse and applying Federal Law. Democrats have mismanaged their Executive Office position so badly they need to resort to hyperbole and technicalities. Now if RFK jr. was running, he would probably beat Trump or DeSantis no problem as he has a lot of crossover attraction. He will get the Democrat votes over Trump and he is more civilized and smarter than Trump on the GOP/Libertarian/Honest government front

If we have a number of blue states remove Trump from the ballot, thus keeping him from office through an electoral vote shortfall, I fear we will not be happy with the next insurrection. Red states may retaliate and the door for national dissolution may open as it did in another election that comes to mind in 1860. It is a shame that the candidates of 2024, unworthy of this nation, might be the cause of tragedy.

The coup was against Trump, for 4 years. On inauguration day 2017, the Washington Post said let the impeachment begin.

The election interference against Trump in 2020 was staggering. Google, Facebook, Twitter, were all interfering. Unconstitutional changes in election rules in certain states, designed to help Biden. The impeachment, over a legal phone conversation with Zelensky. Intelligence officials lying about the Hunter Biden laptop. The mainstream media complicity, with CBS’s Leslie Stahl claiming to Trump that the laptop couldn’t be verified, “because it can’t.” Bobolinski had already confirmed it. Etcetera, etcetera. Election interference, all on the scale against Trump. You can bet your Zuckerbucks on that one.

So why not file some charges and bring some evidence of claims to court and submit it? It was that easy for Trump in 2020, but for some reason his lawyers admitted in court that they never found a shred of evidence that they felt was admissible in court.

Is this another one of those kinds of election interferences? If not, bring the receipts and you’ll get what you want. Unless you’re part of the tribe that thinks the justice system exists to persecute white men.

We know why the Saudis gave Jared billions. Trump was working with the House of Saud to transfer to SA our nuclear technology information. Congress drew up a little read report in 2019, it was signed by multiple GOP senators at the time. But what does giving Saudi Arabia nuclear secrets in exchange for $2BB mean when Hunter was smoking crack and making business plans? 😉

From Page 40:

” 2018: New documents obtained by the Committee indicate that after the unsuccessful Colony-IP3 attempt to acquire Westinghouse, Westinghouse terminated IP3 from a separate agreement for the consortium of companies that had submitted the “Team USA” bid for the contract to build two nuclear reactors in Saudi Arabia. Westinghouse reportedly expressed concerns that “IP3’s actions may create a faulty assumption that IP3 is in charge.” In response, IP3 joined a bid by the Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) for the contract to build nuclear reactors in Saudi Arabia using U.S. nuclear technology. IP3 continued to leverage its connections with the Trump Administration, holding meetings at the White House and with other agencies. IP3 officials boasted of “unique access” to President Trump and senior White House officials, disparaged growing bipartisan congressional efforts to limit the transfer of nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia, and characterized the “Gold Standard” of prohibiting Saudi Arabia from enriching uranium for weapons as an obstacle to be “overcome.””

source: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21014583-trump-saudi-nuclear-report-july-2019

randocalrissian

And this from pg 45: ” 2019: IP3’s efforts to influence the Trump Administration and profit from transfer of U.S. nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia continue to this day. In February 2019, IP3 orchestrated a meeting with President Trump and nuclear industry executives at the White House. IP3 also planned a meeting with National Security Advisor John Bolton in March 2019, but it was cancelled because of “legal and ethical concerns.” Two years earlier, NSC Legal Advisor John Eisenberg had ordered NSC employees to stop working on IP3-related matters due to conflicts of interest and potential violations of federal law.”

randocalrissian
randocalrissian

Definition: IP3 International—a private company that assembled a consortium of U.S. companies seeking to build nuclear plants in Saudi Arabia—repeatedly pressed the Trump Administration not to require Saudi Arabia to commit to the “Gold Standard” in any future 123 Agreement, complaining that it would lock them out of lucrative nuclear contracts with the Saudis.

Zardoz
Zardoz

It looks like we may have an explanation for that 2 billion dollars the Saudis gave Jared. Can’t say whether giving nukes to the people that brought down the twin towers was worth it. Maybe for Jared. He can build a bunker with it, and hide out till the contractors dig him out and barbecue him.

Objection is with equal application of the law.

Indict Trump for election interference, indict JB (conspiracy to permit votes – citing Covid – beyond those allowable by state statute), HRC (creating fraudulent claims of Russian collusion), Gore (Florida strategy post election), Kennedy (old man working with Chicago mob to win Illinois), . . . John Quincy Adams screwing Andrew Jackson.

We act as if attempts at election interference is something new.

Trump should of followed Nixon example, take the loss and come back to fight (and, in Nixon’s case, win) another day.
