Trump Tries to Win Over Hispanic Voters with Targeted Video

Please play this video posted by Trump on X.

Video on X

On September 29, Trump posted what appears to be an AI-created video of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer speaking in a fake voice to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Jeffries is standing next to Schumer with a sombrero, a mustache and mariachi music playing in the background.

Anyone who thought that was cute or defends it, is a racist idiot along with Trump.

Well, guess who.

Via the New York Times: ‘I Think It’s Funny’, said Vice President J.D. Vance.

The day after Mr. Trump posted the video, Mr. Jeffries condemned it as racist and challenged Mr. Trump to insult him in person the next time the leaders met face to face.

“Mr. President, the next time you have something to say about me, don’t cop out through a racist and fake A.I. video,” Mr. Jeffries said on Tuesday during remarks at the Capitol. “When I’m back in the Oval Office, say it to my face.”

Vance Response

“Oh, I think it’s funny,” Mr. Vance said. “The president’s joking, and we’re having a good time.”

“I mean, I’ll tell Hakeem Jeffries right now, I make this solemn promise to you that if you help us reopen the government, the sombrero memes will stop,” Mr. Vance said.

Vance Defends Racism as Cute

What a lovely proposition: Vance is willing to stop racist portrayals if Democrats do what Trump wants.

Racist attacks and portrayals are vile. Period. There is no defense of them.

Trump responded on Truth Social with a Second Racist Video.

The cult cheered.

Question of the Day

How many Hispanic votes with this cost Trump in the midterm elections?

I don’t know, nor do you. But racist stupidity is sure to cost a pile.

Meanwhile, in case you did not notice, the labor markets are crumbling. That will cost Trump midterm votes as well.

“Anyone who thought that was cute or defends it, is a racist idiot along with Trump.”

Exactly how was it racist? Racism is when you believe in the inherent inferiority of someone based on their race. How does showing NY jackass Hakeem Jeffries in a sombrero trying to pander to illegal aliens, which is not that inconceivable given how the clumsy Democrats are when they try to pander to voters (anyone remember grillmaster Chuck You Schumer?), constitute an expression in the belief that Hispanics/Latinos are inferior?

It seems that you have TDS or you are pretending to call for 2 minutes of hate because it is good for clicks.

You’re exactly right, Tenacious D.

Trump is attempting humor by pointing out how many times the Dem continue to double down with putting illegals first. I bet a lot of people in South Chicago are laughing their butts off while being fed up with Dems putting illegals first.

As with any humor though, people are going to get offended. But I seriously doubt these memes are doing anything but make people chuckle who are reasonably skeptical of Trump by still voted for him, knowing he was the far superior candidate to Comrade Kamala.

Sure, Mish, call it like you see it. That’s fine. It’s your right so protect it by piling onto Trump again & again. We’re still waiting on that complimentary article you promised last week.

I just watched a video of Jake Tapper talking to Jefferies and Tapper literally points out the recissions the Dems are seeking will, in fact, bring back free healthcare to illegals via ERs & protected legal status non-citizens.

It’s just bonkers & the Dems are doing everything they can to hide their real goals:

MAKE THE GOP LOOK LIKE THE BAD GUYS WHILE PUTTING NON-CITIZENS FIRST.

Mish – looking forward to your article on free speech as I think in the past you have misrepresented the situation in Europe and amplified untruths from people like Vance. There was one example you gave in the UK from about 15 years ago that I agree was dumb but others were not.

Key things I think are not covered by free speech are:

  1. Harrasing people making their way to clinical centres. (note the nonsense some people have stated that this applies in your own home in teh UK – it doesn’t).
  2. Shouting “Fire” in a theater – the classic example
  3. Sending tweets at a time of national tension that it is OK to attack people.
  4. Anonymous, bot driven campaigns on social media that aim to drive division.

Things that should be allowed are:

  1. Protesting about Israel on campuses
  2. Protesting about woke nonsense
  3. Making fun of politicians (such as this video – totally disgusting but agree he should have the right to say it, just as Kimmel has the right to mock him)

Interested to see where you draw the lines. The easy route out is to say that it is better to have debate and get everything in the open but I maintain that 1-4 are absolutely not OK in a decent society.

That is a fair point that post was a bit preachy. Just trying to say that free speech seems wrong when it attacks a vulnerable individual or is part of an anonymous organised campaign undertaken to undermine society.

The Muslims comment…racist undertones but not something that should be banned from saying.

Mike, if Trump was smart here( I know I know) he would push to get the DACA rules lawful and get applications processed, then expand/relax the DACA rules for the young adults here working, in school and not committing crimes.

Now I would make it tougher for all the illegals that came here within the last 4 years and send back the illegals committing crimes(apparently that is not allowed according to Antifa and some NGOs and other virtue signaling liberals)

There are , I dont know how many, 15 million in the last 20 years? that came here illegally and the majority of them are law abiding citizens for the most part(other than coming here illegally)

The last 4 years have been a total shit show and that will require even more investigations to figure out who is doing the right things and who isn’t.

I personally know of 4 people that fall under the DACA rules, all now in the mid/ early 20s, 2 literally help support their families. And since their parents are much older, their parents do not fall under the DACA rules so their parents are still illegal.

Golden opportunity for not only Trump here but the Republican party.

Will he take advantage of it?

I’ve never been more bemused by a Mish comment – “Anyone who thought that was cute or defends it, is a racist idiot along with Trump”

Allow me to throw myself under the bus – I thought it was hilarious, and the follow-up parodying the whiny, butt-hurt complaint about the first, even more so.

Calling, “Racist” is the modern-day, “I’ve found a witch – get the fire started!”

Demonstrating that your leftist political opponents have no sense of humor is a great tactic as it gives a hint as to their underlying tyrannical inclinations.

(From Perplexity A.I.)
Why Humor Threatens Tyrants

  • Humor and especially satire expose flaws and hypocrisy, puncturing the image of invincibility and gravitas that tyrants work hard to maintain.
  • Authoritarian leaders are often thin-skinned and intolerant of criticism, criminalizing jokes or punishing comedians who dare to mock them.
  • Famous historical dictators like Mussolini, Hitler, and Napoleon were noted for their inability or refusal to laugh at themselves, seeing such laughter as a threat to their status and authority.

I don’t think the, “You’re a racist, you’re a bigot, you’re this, that, and the other thing…” works anymore. At least not with the majority of people who are tired of it.

Maybe the conservatives are learning from the left’s Saul Alinksy and his Rules for Radicals.

Quote: AI Overview

In Rules for Radicals, Saul Alinsky lists the strategic use of ridicule as “man’s most potent weapon” and describes its effectiveness for mocking the opposition. This is Rule #5 in his set of tactics for community organizers.

Alinsky’s Rule #5: Ridicule

The full rule, as stated in Rules for Radicals, is: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage”.

How it works in practice

Irritates and provokes: By mocking or ridiculing an opponent, an organizer can cause them to become angry and frustrated, potentially goading them into an emotional overreaction.

Forces irrationality: Because ridicule is irrational, it is difficult to counter with a reasoned argument. This leaves the target without a good defense and can make them appear weak or foolish.

Shifts power dynamics: When the opposition reacts poorly to being mocked, they can appear off-balance and defensive. This makes them seem less powerful and more vulnerable in the eyes of the public and their own supporters.

Isolates the target: Ridicule can be used as part of a larger strategy to “personalize” and “polarize” a target, isolating them from their base of support.

Example

A classic example of Alinsky’s strategy is a protest in which organizers use humor and satire to highlight the hypocrisy of a target. This can involve theatrical stunts, funny signs, or other creative tactics that draw media attention and make the opposition look foolish, rather than powerful and intimidating.

Trump Losing Ground With Voters Who Powered His 2024 Gains

Marist survey released this week shows sharp declines in Trump’s standing with Gen Z, Latino, and Black voters since June. Among Black voters, Trump’s support fell from -42 in June to -53 now, while his backing among Latinos slipped from -5 to -16. Gen Z, once considered a surprising area of growth for Trump, has shifted dramatically against him, with support falling from -22 to -38

Hispanics under this administration are guilty until proven innocent. Stay away from any place that has lots of illegals (Home Depot? Fast food?) if you don’t want to be thrown to the ground, zip-tied, and carted off to a holding cell every time ICE decides to do a raid. There is plenty of evidence that Hispanic US Citizens are treated exactly the same as illegal aliens in these raids. Yes, citizens will eventually be released from jail once all the background checks are finally run and come back negative (don’t count on a driver’s license alone to satisfy ICE). How many times are hispanic citizens willing to go through that before reconsidering their support of the Trump administration?

For those who missed it,

(1) Trump’s point was that the Democrat party has morphed into an entity that puts the needs of Illegal immigrants with zero skin in the game *far ahead* of the needs of long time legal taxpayers.

(2) Mexican illegals make up, by far, the largest portion of all illegal immigrants, so those illegals were the “right choice” as the figurehead for the joke.

(3) The joke was aimed at the Democrat’s favoritism of all *illegal* immigrants over legal immigrants and US citizens. I believe that every immigrant that came to the US legally appreciates the outrage… and yes, in case you missed it, that group includes legal immigrants from Mexico.

(4) Loosen up rather than conforming to the Borg, who tells you how to think^H^H^H^H^H feel and what to think^H^H^H^H^H feel about every media message. And yes, that means the Borg from either party.

PS If you’ve been paying attention to Youtube videos lately, there are far more legal resident minorities complaining about a gamut of woke policies, and possibly even more anti-“woke policy” videos from minorities than woke at this point.

I don’t know how to scrape “google trends” for this specific info, but if someone *does* know how, please report the results. This includes anti section-8, anti-SNAP, etc. The list goes on and on of government programs that didn’t used to be administered as woke, that are now being administered as though they were politically funded “woke” focused causes.

I couldn’t agree more. Trump is trying to create low interest rates and high inflation. He’s a debt funded asset holder who benefits, and that drives all his decisions. I expect some bad decisions to be made soon to pull long interest rates down while inflation rages. Currency will have the value of toilet paper, so debt funded asset holders will be “winners”. F* the rest of us who don’t fit that profile.

Now let’s talk about something good the Trump admin is doing. Cutting off the drug supply at its source –Venezuela. For years I’ve been of the opinion if the US was truly interested in winning the war on drugs, invasion of drug exporting countries is the only answer. But now we find out how much the US economy is really dependent on drugs. The real economy is most of the southern US is sham and basically no different than the drug and money laundering operation shown in Breaking Bad. I have multiple jewelry stores in my area who never have a single customer but manage to stay in business. A couple of weeks I found out they own “clubs” in Eastern Europe and Iran. They are nothing more than money laundering operations.

Banksters, the underworld and the CIA work together to import illegal drugs into the USA. These are the real criminals that profit from the drug trade.

Breaking Bad characters were pikers compared to Wall Street, Langley and those underworld figures that bribe politicians, the police, border patrol, etc., to look the other way.

The solution is simple: legalize all drugs.

https://www.unaids.org/en/resources/presscentre/featurestories/2020/march/20200303_drugs

What Trump is doing off the coast of Venezuela is illegal, impeachable, and worthy of removal from office. After removal from office Trump should be arrested, frog marched to jail, fitted for an orange jump suit, prosecuted for violating international law and murder.

The admiral in charge of firing on the Venezuelan boats, commander(s) on ships that relayed the order and the sailors or officers that directly fired on the boats should all be courtmartialed, if found guilty and imprisoned accordingly. Should the head of Southern Command also conveyed the order or Hegseth or any WH official ordered these murders they too should enter the dock and if found guilty go to prison.

There is a ton of legal business and legal manufacturing going on in southern border states. Trump thinks he can fake his way to a good economy. Just as it is and always was, it’s the economy STUPID. Bush Sr didn’t get, neither did the Republicans in general. But then Obama proved he didn’t get it either which is why Trump was selected the first time. Then Biden proved he didn’t get it either. If Trump would just do what he did in his first term, the Republicans would win elections in a landslide. But Trump, as always, lets his ego get in the way of his success and breaks it. He’s been doing this since he was a child according to his family. He always broke something in anger. This time he’s breaking America in his anger.

Are we in a recession? Yes — if you live in one of these 22 states.Moody’s economist Mark Zandi warns the U.S. is close to a damaging economic contraction
The U.S. economy is very close to falling into a damaging contraction — and many states are already in a recession, according to Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics.
Zandi estimates that 22 states and the District of Columbia are now experiencing persistent economic weakness and job losses that are likely to continue. Another 13 states are treading water, he noted.
The overall picture is one of a weak U.S. economy that is vulnerable to being pushed into a ditch by a strong wind.

“The economy is still not in recession, but the risks are very high. We’re on the precipice,” Zandi said in an interview with MarketWatch.
California and New York are among the states that are treading water. If either of those falter, it would tip the economy into recession, Zandi said.
A separate forecast by UCLA Anderson School of Management released this week said that a recession in California is now plausible.
According to Zandi, the cause of the weakness is economic policy.
White House tariffs on imported goods have caused uncertainty, forcing companies to pull back from expansion plans and confusing supply chains. No labor-force growth this year has also hurt the economy.
In addition, federal job cuts tied to the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, formerly led by Elon Musk, have pushed Washington D.C. and its surrounding states into the deepest downturn of any region.
On a national level, the National Bureau of Economic Research defines a recession as a significant decline in economic activity that is spread across the economy and lasts more than a few months.
The organization puts particular emphasis on a few indicators — including nonfarm-payroll employment, personal income adjusted for inflation excluding transfers, consumer spending adjusted for inflation, and industrial production.
Zandi admits that identical data isn’t produced for state economies. He said he tries to replicate the NBER, but admits there is a fair amount of judgement in his conclusions. Zandi has given policy advice to congressional Democrats, but says he’s an independent who worked as a top adviser to the late Sen. John McCain when he ran for the Republican presidential nomination.
The prevailing narrative among economists is that the U.S. economy’s expansion will continue, driven by consumer spending.
Richard Moody, chief economist at Regions Bank, noted that third-quarter U.S. GDP growth is estimated to be rising at a 3.8% annual rate. The latest data on business investment, jobless claims and consumer spending have been decent, he added.
“Nothing suggests the economy is rolling over,” Moody said in an interview.
The most recent data released by the government before this week’s federal shutdown surprised to the upside and showed the broader economy was in pretty good shape.
But Zandi said the latest data didn’t change his views. “GDP and consumer spending are stronger, but the job market is weaker,” he said.
A common denominator of the states in recession is that they have weak farm economies or faltering light manufacturing. Any part of the country whose economies depends on goods-producing activities, agriculture, mining and light manufacturing are currently weak, Zandi said, adding that a weak transportation sector is exacerbating the downturn.
The contraction in the New England region is not unusual because of its slow population-growth trends, according to Zandi. “That region doesn’t grow very strongly even in the best of times,” he said.
But Zandi said he was surprised that Georgia is in recession. The state has seen a significant pullback in domestic immigration, in part because of high home values, he noted.
Pennsylvania, meanwhile, is a surprise on the upside, he added, with the state benefitting from strength in education and healthcare.

The recession in the farming community is gaining momentum as grain prices collapse and costs rise. The massive corporate farms will be collecting the subsidies in proportion to their grifting to Trump or his sycophants. Family farms? They simply are not in touch with the grifters as much. Some will of course, get a bit of the bribery money.

Trump is great…at stereotyping. He wants America to go back to the era where anyone who is nonwhite can be stereotyped bordering on racism.

I am Hispanic and I don’t find it racist. Granted, I don’t find it tasteful either. I just find it silly.

But it doesn’t seem to me something to have a cow over. Worst was the time when Trump, during the campaign, had a comedian who basically called Puerto Rico a thrash can. As a Puerto Rican I was mad, and from the political perspective I thought that was such an unforced error of the Trump campaign. I thought it would cost Trump the Presidency. But plenty of Hispanics voted for him.

I think the controversy over those videos is a nothing burger.

You know what I am annoyed about Trump? I am still waiting for the US to get out of Ukraine. That’s important and it is getting worse with the EU trying to get involved. That could end up in WW3 and the destruction of the planet – a nuclear war sending humanity to the stone age. This? This is nothing.

Nick, I gotta say that I thought your response was one of a level-headed, group-minded (i.e. American) gentleman with a sense of humor. Agreed – we have MUCH bigger fish to fry.

Ron, I’m 25% Dutch, 25% German and 50% “mutt” (last name is Irish, but, hey, I’m just an American). Hafta say, sir, you’re makin’ a lot of sense. Wouldn’t we all be better off if we could laugh at ourselves a little more, not be offended so easily & all work toward “the common good?”

They are currently targeting criminals, and if a non-criminal is in the group they pick up, yes, they will verify theier identity. Legal immigrants are not being detained, and illegal immigrants affiliated with the criminal they scooped up are being checked. Sounds reasonable.

Taco is underestimating the intelligence of the Hispanic community. After all, they are paying increased prices the rest of the US is feeling and under the same, if not more, level of stress.

I doubt the percentage of stupid Hispanics differs all from the percentage of stupid white people, and that’s all he’s needed so far.

Since looking vaguely Latino is now grounds to get you beaten, thrown on the ground and/or disappeared by federal agents anywhere in the US, I really think the racist video changed few minds.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trump-approval-ratings-dive-every-141125601.html

Trump’s approval rating among Hispanic Americans is now sitting at -32, a stark decrease from -5 at the beginning of his term.

YouGov uses a “nonprobability sampling methodology”. In other words, whoever has an axe to grind can log in and grind that axe in an online poll. A poll does not provide reliable results without random sampling controls, period. Learn how to think first rather than feel first.

What’s *actually* happening (at the moment) is that criminals are being targeted, and sometimes people who are merely illegal happen to be near those criminals when the police action occurs.

You’re too stupid to recognize a smart president. After all, you love Trump. I think he is listed as the worst president our country ever had. Or one off from the bottom. Of course, you don’t trust folks who make those calls do you?

Free speech. First amendment. Yes, trump can be and has always been a vile speaker. We know you sorts love him. I guess you would be sad if he couldn’t continue to be a monster who ridicules and mocks everyone. But, you guys just keep letting us see who you really are. It’s quite enlightening. I’m thinking you folks had to keep your vile racists mouths shut longer than you wanted to and now we get to see clearly who you are. It’s not pretty. Not at all. But we know you don’t care. Your man is your man.
