$500,000 in Bitcoin Funneled to Capital Riot Organizers

Spotlight on Nicholas J. Fuentes

Fuentes is one of the Alt-Right organizers present at the capitol riots. Like Rudy Giuliani, Fuentes egged on everyone else with inflammatory speeches while standing on the sidelines.

Tracking $500K in Bitcoin

Insights reports Alt-Right Groups and Personalities Involved In Last Week’s Capitol Riot Received Over $500K In Bitcoin From French Donor One Month Prior

ProPublica reports that in the weeks leading up, many Trump supporters discussed turning the event violent on Parler, a rightwing social media app now banned by most major tech platforms. However, we now have evidence that many alt-right groups and personalities, including Fuentes, received large Bitcoin donations in a single transaction that occurred a month before the riot on December 8. We have also gathered evidence that strongly suggests the donor was a now-deceased computer programmer based in France.

While we won’t share the donor’s identity publicly, we’ll walk you through how we made the identification and provide details on the donations below. The information we’ve uncovered shows that domestic extremism isn’t strictly domestic. International networks play a role as well, which we see reflected in the nationality of this extremist donor. The donation, as well as reports of the planning that went into the Capitol raid on alt-right communication channels, also suggests that domestic extremist groups may be better organized and funded than previously thought.

Nick Fuentes received 13.5 BTC — worth approximately $250,000 at the time of the transfer — making him by far the biggest beneficiary of the donation. However, several others received significant funds as well, including anti-immigration organization VDARE, alt-right streamer Ethan Ralph, and several addresses whose owners are as yet unidentified.

While there’s no evidence yet that Fuentes entered the Capitol — in fact, he explicitly denies entering the building — he was present at the initial rally and seen outside the Capitol as the rioting began. Fuentes promoted the rally that preceded the violence in the month before on social media. PBS notes that in the days leading up, Fuentes encouraged his audience to engage in extreme behavior to prevent Joe Biden’s election from being certified, even implying that they should kill state legislators. Fuentes had previously been banned from YouTube for hate speech, including Holocaust denial and promotion of other conspiracy theories.

The December 8 donation of over $250,000 worth of Bitcoin is by far the largest cryptocurrency donation Fuentes has ever received. Previously, the most he had ever received in a single month was $2,707 worth of Bitcoin.

1/15/21 Updates: Media outlets have confirmed the French donor’s death. French publication 20 Minutes confirmed the death of a French computer programmer who appears to have been the owner of the Bitcoin wallet from which the extremist donations were sent in December, and the blog on which the suicide note we posted above was published. Reporter Philippe Berry spoke to someone who knew the donor personally, who confirmed his death by suicide on December 8, as well as the authenticity of the note and of the health problems mentioned within. The AP also found a cached version of the obituary, including burial information, that had been deleted.

Who Got the Funds?

Frenchman Allegedly Donated $ 500,000 in Bitcoins to the Ultra-Right American

Le Monde reports (translated from French) Frenchman Allegedly Donated $ 500,000 in Bitcoins to the Ultra-Right American.

A mysterious transatlantic donation, a suicide and a lot of questions. A month before the January 6 violence in Washington , several figures of the American ultra-right received a donation of more than $ 500,000 in bitcoins, according to researchers from the American company Chainalysis .

The case takes on an international dimension, because Chainalysis has traced the trail to a virtual portfolio based in France. Several elements and a testimony collected by 20 Minutes suggest that it did indeed belong to a French conspiratorial computer scientist who suffered from health problems. And who committed suicide on the day the donation was made. He was 35 years old.

Still according to Chainalysis, which notably provides analytical tools to government agencies and financial institutions, nearly half of these funds ($ 250,000) were sent to Nick Fuentes . Banned by YouTube a year ago for “hate speech” and “negationism”, this alt-right figure, who had participated in the rally of white supremacists in Charlottesville, has nearly 130,000 followers on Twitter. Beginning on December 18, Fuentes actively promoted the January 6 rally online. He demonstrated outside Capitol Hill with several of his supporters, dubbed the Groyper army (after a meme derived from Pepe The Frog). Fuentes, however, publicly denied entering the building.

According to Yahoo News, US authorities are investigating the transaction and more broadly looking to determine whether the Capitol riots were planned. “This is treated as a counterterrorism or counterintelligence investigation. We look at everything: money, communications, travel, ” Washington federal prosecutor Michael Sherwin said on Tuesday.

Although he does not appear to have personally participated in the clashes, which left five dead , Nick Fuentes was suspended by DLive last Saturday for “inciting violence”.

What Else Can You Do But Kill Them

Two days before the Washington rally, he quipped live during a discussion with his followers: “What can you and I do to state legislators other than kill them?” “Before clarifying with a smile:” Well, we shouldn’t do that, I don’t recommend that. But hey, what else can you do?”

Please play the video.

Question of the Day

How many think those bitcoins were stolen and there was no suicide?

How much have Soros, Gates, Bloomberg and others funneled to BLM/Antifa/Leftist rioters – including people like John Sullivan who was there in the Capitol? Do we know? Will we ever know?

Having listened to the video, then doing a little reading of his Twitter, there’s no question this kid, Sullivan, is a moron, not funded nor organized, just a complete idiot oblivious that he was recording his self-incrimination.

Atop that, CNN just played new footage of that “Shaman” idiot entering the chambers, yet another complete moron.

Specifically after watching the “Shaman” it becomes somewhat clear that all this added nat’l guard security for the inauguration might be over-kill, this knucklehead’s a “leader” of the group.

These are the nation’s high-school freaks/rejects, all finding a reason to convene, they don’t seem as interested in the cause as the social event, a sense of belonging.

with all due respect, China covered their problem up pretty well to the rest of the world until the end of December, even though evidence has come forth that it started months earlier. yes they can hide it.

I CAN believe that some suicidal Frenchman had the BTC and decided to spend it in this way, Whether it’s the real story or not…..I’m a bit more uncertain. Hard to know for sure.

No need for it to be stolen….he might have bought it when BTC was a few cents, less than a decade ago.

Yes, Virginia, bitcoin can be traced…..sometimes…probably most of the time now. There are other coins that can’t, so it’s a moot point with regards to criminals being able to use crypto to launder money. It can easily be done by anyone with money.

I’m a Christian, at least nominally (a protestant upbringing is impossible to overcome completely in my view)……but I don’t particularly like the Jesus card being used as an argument for unlimited immigration. Don’t let your kindness make you completely stupid.

Immigration has consequences. Some good,…..but hardly all good. My position…the liberal meme that unlimited immigration is ALWAYS a good thing that accrues a net benefits the US (or Europe, for that matter) …..is a false narrative. You can see the problems with mass migration in every Western country that allows it.

I am fully aware of the kind of responsibility the US has for meddling in Central America….but you good Christians might want to also think about the way the Church’s fight against birth control has contributed to a population in places like Guatemala and Honduras where the average age is in the early 20’s now…..and where the schools are so bad as to be non-existent…..the adults walking to our border looking for a better life have a 2nd grade education or less. No wonder they’re doing yard work.

And..I’d remind you that the meme of helping the poor, ignorant brown people……has been used to bring in thousands of educated immigrants from Asia who work on H1B visas…and thousands of Asians who enter our universities as grad students…..the universities glad to use them…..to underpay for college teaching……while qualified American PhD’s go under-employed and unemployed.

This benefits multi-national corporations like MicroSoft…and it has corrupted the university system.

This is a big problem in STEM…a multifaceted, multi-layered problem…which ends up leading editors of scientific journals to be willing to bend the knew so hard that race and politics is now a major factor in getting published….if you think that leads to good science, you’re daft.

Excellent points all around. It’s unfortunate that so many conservatives base their conservatism in Abrahamic religion – Christianity in particular. Barry Goldwater saw it decades ago.

Here is what appears to be on the big Biden/Dem agenda:

  1. Citizenship for illegals. So more illegals come.
  2. Statehood for DC and PR.
  3. Attempted elimination of the Electoral College.
  4. MMT with guaranteed basic income for all.

You get all these and what do we have? A permanent one-party government. With taxes in the 60-70% range and substantial inflation.

Wealthy bankers and businessmen plotted to overthrow FDR. A retired general foiled it. Franklin D. Roosevelt’s elimination of the gold standard in April 1933 infuriated some of the country’s wealthiest men. Titans of banking and business worried that if U.S. currency wasn’t backed by gold, inflation could skyrocket and make their millions worthless. Why, they could end up as poor as most everyone else was during the Great Depression. So, according to the sworn congressional testimony of a retired general, they decided to overthrow the government and install a dictator who was more business friendly.

The irony of that is that, as we have seen, bankers prosper even more when there is inflation. This quote from over 200 years ago always amazes me:
“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered…. I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies…. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.” Thomas Jefferson

Step back a bit and ask yourself, “why is this news?” Is it news because:

  1. The recipients were despicable?
  2. Someone gave $500,000 to political causes?
  3. The method money was sent was Bitcoin?
  4. Bitcoin can be tracked?
  5. The person committed suicide after making his political donation?

Or, does it take more than one of these alone to make it news? I think the combination of 1, 2 and 5 makes it unusual, at least, but probably the real news is #4. I thought the criminals use bitcoin as a way to keep from being tracked, but apparently that doesn’t work.

All the above, however, it may well just be a story of a regular guy from a foreign country who wanted his money to go where his ideology lies before he died.

Bears mention that this guy, Laurent Bachelier, hadn’t made any use of his social media account since 2014 up until last month, after he transferred the Bitcoin, posted on his media account and then died.

I dont hold BTC but listening to TPTB in the past 2 weeks they don’t want it as a competitor – Lagarde, FCA in UK. Its risky but that’s not why it bothers them.

Best way to damage it? Link it to Trump.

I believe little when presented by information that can help achieve the wants of TPTB.

Are you certain this isn’t fake news to achieve an end?

Bitcoin users can be traced then. That would explain why the authorities have refrained from regulating BTC for now, they’re busy tracking criminal usage.

It is very strange for me that donations to the organizers of a rather benign demonstration, with very little damage, where victims were mainly from participants, are denounced. In contrast, there were much bigger donations to people who organized violence, arson, looting in a much higher scale in may and june, and no outrage about that…

Donations are legal, as long as the appropriate taxes are paid. I don’t know if the disclosures of private donations are legal.

Watching TV tonight and a commercial came on talking about how the billionaires in the U.S. became 960 Billion dollars richer during COVID and Main Street needs help.

Then they promoted a $1000/month payment to everyone and then listed a web site. I forgot the web site though.

I am glad I own some real estate because if they did such a thing housing will shoot up. Just what may happen if a couple received a combined $2000 a month. A $330k 30 year loan at 3.5% would be 1500/month. Add in property tax and insurance and this would be a $2k a month mortgage payment.

You would instantly have millions of people now able to afford a $330k home. In addition, people who own homes may want to upgrade with the extra $2k a month.

Then with Open boarders and Biden’s new legislation to give the 11 million illegal aliens citizenship, there will be a huge housing boom. There would be an big influx of people migrating across our open border.

I would think almost every house in the U.S. would soon be priced at a minimum of $300k.

So it this type of movement gathers steam…..buy real estate sooner than later.

I guess people are losing most of their fear of catching COVID in my area. I went to Home Depot, Lowes, Mendards, Target, and a grocery store today. All were packed.

As I drove home around dinner time, all the restaurant parking lots were full. I could see in the window of one restaurant and every table was full.

I suspect unemployment will drop in my state next month. Everything seems to be back to normal except people wearing mask. Stores do not even spray the shopping cart handles anymore. Social distancing in lines is gone.

In Menards today each register had at least 6 customers lined up in the checkout lanes.

The metro area I live (2 million) added COVID 700 cases today and 5 deaths.

The city is loosing restriction for bars and restaurants to move closing time from 10pm to 12pm. What do official know that we do not know?

Unemployment rate for my city (160k) in October was at 4.2. The State unemployment rate is only .6 % higher than it was in October of 2019.

China builds new hospital in 5 days after surge in COVID cases.

Hmmm….I have been looking at the charts and it seems they are averaging 20 to 40 a day. So I guess they now have had 2 days of 120/day and need to quickly build some hospitals?

I also read a few days ago they had their 1st COVID death since May.

Why are they building a 1500 bed hospital?

BEIJING (AP) — China on Saturday finished building a 1,500-room hospital for COVID-19 patients to fight a surge in infections the government said are harder to contain and that it blamed on infected people or goods from abroad.

The hospital is one of six with a total of 6,500 rooms being built in Nangong, south of Beijing in Hebei province, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

You have posted my thoughts. I , too, suspect Russian involvement. But it could be some other state actor that wants to destabilize the USA. I note that as yet there is no information as to where the “Frenchman” got the bitcoin. I’d almost bet the trail is so twisty that the ultimate source is lost. Layer after layer like, coincidentally, a matryoshka doll.
