AOC Defends $4,500 Pay Hike For Herself: “It’s Not Even Like a Raise”

Please consider this amusing Tweet.

Yes, I understand her point about inflation.

But if we paid AOC what she was worth, she would owe us money.

As long as AOC keeps up her part of the deal and destroys the Democratic Party, it’s money well spent.

Laughing at the complete and utter morons who voted AOC in thinking she was something other than your average greedy, scumbag politician.

She’s a SUPER STAR!

According to the media that made her that way, of course. Considering that they had nobody else in politics to shoot to stardom, they chose her. The alternative was to continue to prop up the senile, alzheimer’s-inflicted stodgy old crone Nancy Pelosi.

4500 dollars worth of duct tape around her mouth sounds better.

She’s right, you know. She [or rather, her handlers] adore the FIGHT FOR 15. And since that means more than doubling min wage pay from the current 7 and two bits, then we ALL deserve more than double our current pay, too. Therefore, let’s get behind a bill to raise Congressional salaries from 174K to 350K! Yay!

AOC is making a false argument. A cost of living increase isn’t going to prevent congress people from doing insider trading.

At about $175,000 a year, AOC is making way more than the average American.

Her cost of living raise for all is another one size fits all, which it doesn’t. Marginal workers could lose their job, just as with forced increases in the minimum wage.

I’ll take the counterpoint. She has a point. If they had a salary that is outrageously good coupled with a contract they need to sign that they absolutely cannot accept any outside money of any kind and upon leaving office cannot work in any fields in which they have made legislation. Something like this might be able to keep them from getting corrupted by special interests and focus on doing what’s best for the people and the country.

This also needs to be coupled with a single term limit, of say 5-10 years so they are not bothered by needing to raise campaign money again once in.

Or I am naive and go ahead and flame me!

It is called public service. One is supposed to be serving the people, not being serviced by the people.

AOC said she didn’t have to cut her own carbon footprint because she lives in the world. Actor Ed Begley lives an environmentally frugal life style, despite living in the world, just as AOC does. AOC is corrupt and is just trying to justify her corruption.

I agree on the public service comment. That is used by too many people nowadays who make significantly more money with better benefits than in the private sector. I just don’t see any other reasonable way to prevent lawmakers from being influenced by money.

It is ironic that decades ago America started down a perilous path to build China into a world power as we sought a counterbalance in the region to what we viewed as Russia’s growing power. Today our misdirected policies are driving Russia straight into China’s open arms.

The clowns directing such things could not have devised a more self-defeating pathway to take us down if they had made it their goal. The article below explores how expanding trade between China and Russia as a result of America’s policy is akin to shooting itself in the foot.

I have always felt that congress critters should get a salary equal to the average pay in the state they “represent”. For Florida the closest quick estimate I found was for Orlando at $49, 600 which seems like a lot for a politician.

They should get whatever salary those who want to pay them a salary to represent them, feel like paying them. Taxing black guys to pay the salary of some Clansman, is almost as disgusting as the rest of what constitutes contemprary America/Dystopia.

Btw $4500 is beyond what the average worker is getting. AOC has officially crossed over into being a political elite.

That is about what a single person needs just to pay basic expenses in much of the usa now.

Rent in the NYC or Boston suburbs close to $2500 a month even in places like Lynn and Revere MA

Utilities, heating, car insurance , health insurance costs have increased drastically over this decade.

She went to Boston University. This school is for the 1% who couldn’t get into an ivy league.

Don’t even consider attending or sending your kids to this institution if you are in the bottom 90% or your parents are.

As I have said time and time again the 1% and 2% have a huge advantage in life merely by the fact that they chose the right parents who have the right connections, lawyers that are not (AND WLL NEVER BE) available to anyone in middle or working class.

Politicians turn to lobbying because they’re greedy and lack integrity, not because they’re broke, they pretend to “write”books, start “charitable foundations”, become “members of the board”all is just a way to launder bribes.Truman was the last politicians that left office with some modicum of integrity!
