It turns out, Elon Musk’s flamethrower idea was not a joke as Musk’s Boring Co. delivers first 1,000 flamethrowers to customers.
Six months after Elon Musk raised the eyebrows of sane people everywhere by announcing his Boring Co. would sell flamethrowers for $500 a pop, the first 1,000 deliveries were made Saturday for customers who showed up at the company’s headquarters in Hawthorne, Calif.
The flamethrowers went like, well, flaming hotcakes when they went on sale in late January, selling out in just four days. In all, 20,000 were sold, raising about $10 million in revenue for Musk’s tunnel-boring startup. The devices, technically called “Not a Flamethrower” to skirt federal shipping regulations, shoot a two-foot flame.
Despite concerns about the wisdom of allowing personal flamethrowers in wildfire-prone California, state legislators last month shelved legislation that would have required them to come with a safety warning.

Based on Musk’s track record, I would guess his $500 non flamethrower cost $1,000 to manufacture.
It seems like Elon likes to set things on fire. He makes non-flamethrower flamethrowers, burns billions of dollars a year with a company that sells incendiary cars that come with a built in crematory. It looks like he is an arsonist who knows how to make money.
“for Musk’s tunnel-boring startup” A what?! Seems the Tesla Company is boring a hole rather than a tunnel. No light in sight for a long time. Ridiculous if you ask me but seems that there is a fool born every minute…
Does he really understand the concept of “safety first” given this new product and some Tesla experiences? Have to wonder what goes on in his head.
Musk will “rue the day” he dreamt up this incredibly stupid idea and then brought it to life. Someone, somewhere is going to use one of these flame throwers to start a major fire or hurt themselves or someone else playing around with it
