The Financial Times reports US Threatens to Block Trade Talks with China at G20.
> US officials have warned China that Donald Trump will not engage in trade talks with Xi Jinping at next month’s G20 summit if Beijing does not produce a detailed list of concessions, according to three people briefed on negotiations between the countries.
Supposedly China has such a list but it first wants guarantees of a “stable political climate”.

- Trump: If you won’t let me pitch, I will take my ball and bat and go home
- China: I’ll show you mine if you show me yours
What’s with this “stable political climate” demand? That’s not going to happen.
Meanwhile, please note that the G20 never accomplishes anything.
Thus, even if the conversations were something higher than first-grade caliper, they would be meaningless.

Trump (US) is not interested in any trade agreement with China. As we have seen by all this unsubstantiated alarmist planted “news” (China spying etc. Don’t we all?). This is about US asserting itself against what is becoming an emerging super power. Trump (and advisers) see China an existential threat ergo all this nonsense impossible to accept conditions. China can come out tomorrow with a zero tariff and Trump will find something else to try to isolate them.
