Trump Allies Propose New Network to Compete With Fox

Hicks Equity Partners, a firm tied to Republican National Committee co-chair Thomas Hicks Jr., is pitching GOP donors on buyout of One America News Network.

Please consider Trump Allies Explore Buyout of Conservative Channel Seeking to Compete With Fox News

Allies of President Trump are pursuing an effort to acquire right-leaning news channel One America News Network, according to people familiar with the matter, in a bid to shake up a conservative media market that has been dominated by Fox News.

The investment firm Hicks Equity Partners is looking to acquire the channel and is pitching other wealthy GOP donors to arrange a bid of roughly $250 million for the channel’s parent company, the people said. The firm is owned by the family of Thomas Hicks Jr., co-chairman of the Republican National Committee and a close friend of Donald Trump Jr.

The efforts come as Mr. Trump has periodically rebuked Fox News for being too critical—despite its opinion-show hosts’ general support of his administration—and has praised One America News Network. The channel’s opinion programming is known among its cable-news peers for its praise of Donald Trump and its advocacy for conservative causes.

Some Republican donors say privately that Fox News isn’t doing enough to toe the party line, according to people familiar with the matter. They have noted, for instance, that the network doesn’t always carry the president’s full campaign rallies live on air, the people added.

If you laid all the power-hungry alpha males in both political parties end to end on west coast beaches, it would be a good start toward ending these media wars…assuming you did it at low tide.

I think cable news is for people that need something to worry about.

Most I have come into contact with have basically given up on life. Why would people sit around and worry about rich people doing something they have No interest in changing or control over?

Newsflash.
Nothing changes but the faces and year.

That should be interesting. I always thought that the play for Trump in 2016 was to create a news network. Also intersting to see what happens at Fox and how they answer the call. They do have two options– go right (well that’s difficult) or go left (that’s also difficult). Imagine if FOX suddenly became critical of the administration or yet even better yet started saying “we agree the impeachment is Bullshit we should let those who were there testify”. The reality is all this is about dollars and cents, and very little else — if they can make money (and evidence seems to be in their favor) a Trump network could be excellent for the president. Maybe less for the country but who care! After all that’s how Chile happened!

He wants the American equivalent of Russia Today (RT). Trump’s old lawyer said he didnt believe Trump would willingly leave the White House if he were impeached and removed or lost an election. Everyone thought he was bitter when he said this but the more days go by the less sillier this seems.

That is one of the best quotes I have heard. Unfortunately most citizens are oblivious to what the govt is doing. This is particularly true of the youngest generation. I am not sure why that is, I suppose when I was in college I was not that particularly in touch with what was going on. Most of the news back then was from the local and national news casts and the papers. I do believe we are mainly a nation of sheep at this point. This is particulary true when it comes to the second amendment. Most people buy the deliberate lies put out by the left about gun control. Admittedly I was oblivious about this topic in my younger years.

I don’t think people are that clueless. I think people just can’t find a way to fix it.

If One America is already pro-Trump, how is this even an interesting story? Doesn’t the hard-hitting headline, “Minor media company ownership may change,” fit this story?

Have Trump and his supporters and organization had a problem getting their position out to the public? That would be news. 🙂

No, the problem is Fox is giving different aspects to the story and causing confusion among about what Republicans should believe.

I agree with Felix, let them spend a quarter billion dollars (or more) to acquire this rinky dink company that will be unable to compete with larger outlets, anyone watching it would be already in the low information far right fantasy bubble anyway, and that is a quarter billion they do not have to support Trumpistan candidates.

Several factors killed US news, but by far the worst is how people figured out how to silo news into red and blue in every viewing format. Once that happened, outlets operated in concert 24/7 explaining how one team is great and the other is responsible for every possible problem you could face in life. The great silo also took huge issues like the Fed and the MIC off the table because they can’t be blamed on one team or the other.

Of course the US consumer is as much at fault as anyone. They went along with this garbage every step of the way because it was simplistic and comforting. Now we’re paying for decades of our own stupidity.

Ah thanks, was not sure about how they did it, I thought that it was killed by tampon commercials and ads for erectile drugs. 🙂

At least that is a major reason I no longer have TV in my home.

Comrade Fidel did the same thing To spread more propaganda and bs,if (when) he seizes power and cancels elections so his junta can remain in power he’ll shut down all networks except his of course so dear leader will control all “free”speech and the all knowing govt will tell you only what you need to know, when you need to know it.

What the country really needs is a news program that lays out the facts and both the left and right points of a topic and let’s the viewer formulate their own opinion. I think it would be a Huge success

Indeed, actual news, that separates the news from opinion is what everyone “should” watch, but exactly what no one “would” watch. I always tell liberals they should watch some conservative news sources, and conservatives that they should watch some liberal sources, but they are both appalled by the idea, and neither ever do,

That would be a Washington DC morning news radio show called Fault Lines with Lee Stranahan (conservative) and Garland Nixon (liberal). It’s a Russian owned broadcasting station called Sputnik located in Washington DC on K Street. Replay M-F on youtube under PopulistTV.
