Trump’s Not Worried, So Why Should You?

Perfectly Coordinated Plan

VP Pence is a Godsend.

Trump is Healthy

Congress is Worried, But I’m Not

Oil? Who Cares?

No Straight Answers

Tut tut. Undoubtedly there are no straight answers because there were no straight questions.

Forget About Italy

Trump is not concerned.

Asked about the development on Saturday, Trump told reporters in Florida he was not concerned and planned to continue to hold political rallies**.**

Need more evidence things are under control?

I can help.

Trump Goes Golfing

Trump Can Golf, Obama Can’t

Golf Quiz

Q: Why can Trump golf but not Obama?

A: Because Trump has everything under control and Obama didn’t.

Why isn’t that obvious?

Trump went golfing approximately 12 times this year including this past Saturday.

How cool is that?

It show exemplary control. There is no other possible explanation.

Word About Testing

Ignore those statements. Pence accidentally forgot to check in with the coronavirus czar before bragging about test availability.

Who is that? Mike Pence.

How Can Trump Be So Cool? Natural Ability!

  1. Trump “I Know So Much About the Coronavirus Because of Natural Ability”
  2. Tweets of the Day: More Trump Narcissism and Incompetence

Obama Flashback

“Look at Afghanistan, what a mess. Look at everything,” Trump said. “If we didn’t do anything with Iraq, if we never went there, if our presidents went to the beach, we’d be much better off. If they just went every single day to the beach and took it easy.”

Let Obama go to the golf course,” he added. “You know what? We’d be better off.

Relax.

We Have Perfect Coordination

“We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus. We moved VERY early to close borders to certain areas, which was a Godsend. V.P. is doing a great job. The Fake News Media is doing everything possible to make us look bad. Sad!”

Things are tuned so well that Trump is giving lessons on how to train tuning forks. No one else on the planet can possibly tune forks better than Trump.

Entire Yield Curve Crashes Below 1.0%

For the first time ever: Entire Yield Curve Crashes Below 1.0%

It’s just what Trump wanted. Congratulations are in order.

DO NOT TRUST THE Government!! My wife and I lived 9 blocks from the WTC. We where assured by Christine Todd Whitman at the time the head of the EPA that the dust and air where safe. My wife has stage 4 cancer caused by 9-11 and I have certified diseases also.
As with China the USA will completely lie in a crisis!!

The non-linear math says that other countries are on the same trajectory as Italy. I get funny looks when saying I expect local schools will be closed in a few weeks. It’s as if people don’t believe that EVERY SCHOOL IN ITALY is closed. That can’t happen here? How will it NOT happen here, when virtually nothing is being done to slow the spread inside the US now? … One wonders if people are telling Trump this simple fact, or if they are afraid to tell dear leader what he doesn’t want to hear.

March 3, millions? in L.A. County used touch screen monitors to vote. March 4 L.A. County declared a state of emergency. March 8, the L.A. marathon was held. The L.A. Clippers and Lakers also had a game at the Staples Center. Today, people are going to work.

Even if you are a fan boy of Trump there is no way around this total fucking disaster. South Korea and Italy have had better responses.

I’m not a Trump fanboy, but closing the border with China early on is obviously the reason the US has half the number of cases of infected people as continental Europe. Not that it really matters either way when a vaccine is still realistically a year or so away. Guess the entire global economy will just have to remain on hold until then… that hiatus might possibly cause a few problems in the FIRE sector. :/

I suspect you have many more cases in the USA than you think. 22 deaths v 538 cases is over 4%. There’s no reason your mortality rate should be 4% yet, your hospitals aren’t overrun & health care is good I thought. So if the death rate there at the moment is really only 1% you currently have 4 times as many cases. We’ll find out soon.

Of course slowing the rate of contagion “really matters.” Every epidemiologist on the planet is saying that the most important thing is to “flatten the curve”, so that the medical system is not overwhelmed all at once. … We will all be Italy within a couple of months.

We don’t have a border with China. One of the problems with Asia is you can get to anywhere in Europe over land from China. You can also hop multiple planes and not be tracked once you are in the EU. Our oceans are our natural border. We have more cases then reported but the real issue outside of border control, there was no planning done by the Trump administration until a couple of weeks ago. This reminds me of Katrina-like management from another failed Republican administration. The markets in these situations are always a tell. We aren’t ready or prepared what’s about to happen. The first death was that of a 50-something year old. We were told that this only happens to old people but healthy doctors in China have died of Covid-19.

This situation never encountered by the Italian hospitals when around 20 millions each year over a 3 months period are victim of the yearly flu epidemic already occur when perhaps 50.000 Italian are really infected. The official count is less than 10.000 but the death rate remain high and could rise again because severe cases are less and less hospitalized.
So to forecast a low death rate is only valid when the rate of infection is severely curbed by containment measures in order not to overwhelm the medical system of the country..

Yes. And why imperative that infection spread gets stretched out as long as possible – to avoid swamping the system. The foot dragging on testing will lead to an inordinate number of health care workers infected compounding situation.

Crazyworld, you are right. An epidemic can only be broken by either inoculating everyone (not possible, yet, with the Covid-19) or isolating everyone (quarantine). The human-to-human chain must be broken one of these two ways. And, really, no medical system in the world is ready for an epidemic. The default will always be triage.

It is very severe in Northen Italy right now. Hospitals intensive care units are so overwhelmed that they declared that they must choice which patient will be treated (the youngest one) and will probably survive and which patient will be left alone to die (the old and or the weak) because there are not enough beds for pneumonia patients.

The whole “we need to control the narrative” nonsense which became religion after Vietnam, is dysfunctional from the get-go.

Public “servants” should, as close to as remotely possible, wear a mic and a front facing camera all day long. With live feeds of all they do, up to acts resulting in pornographic video. And perhaps even including that.

No “secrecy”, no “to prevent fake news” (as if anyone a-priori knows which “news” is “fake” or not). The more information is made public, and the closer to real time, the better. With the only possible exception, maybe being related to nuclear weapons. And even that’s only a maybe.

I commented last night that the US was following the EU control method. The US/EU approach seems to be to follow the scientists who say “It’s just the flu”. They believe that there is a massive pool of undetected cases, and that once the coronavirus arrives in the advanced countries of the West, we’ll see that the real CFR is only .03%, just like the flu. Just like the flu, most cases are mild, and most people recover without medical care, while in rare cases, a few people will die. That’s what the CDC website says, so it must be true.

The logical extension of this is that the market is over-reacting, and people are over-reacting. It’s crazy to buy masks, and TP, and food. It’s crazy to cancel meetings and events, and things will get back to normal fairly quickly.

Or… or maybe it’s not the flu. Maybe there is a reason why the countries of Asia took dramatic action to try to stop it. We’ll see soon enough.

crazyworld

“maybe it is not the flu”, well if CDC really mean what you wrote they should ask the Italian whose country is about two weeks ahead of us in this pandemic.
Why has Italy so early (should be perhaps 50,000 infected peoples for real) already serious problems with availability of Intensive care units and medical personnel. Seasonal flu infect yearly 20 millions Italian over 3 months in winter and the hospitalIntensive care units are not overwhelmed any time.

I agree with you. We aren’t seeing streets filled with dead south koreans. We aren’t seeing China completely depopulated. I think due to the news media seeking a good story and people just being afraid of dying there is a lot of fear. To claim that politicians “doing something” are doing the right thing is to ignore they are acting in the time of Twitter to do something, ANYTHING, right now.

I don’t even blame Trump, I blame the American populace for turning higher office into pro wrestling writ large. People would rather have a blowhard than encounter unwanted honesty. I think the last POTUS who made even a feeble attempt to level with people was probably Carter. We don’t like bad news, we won’t hear of it, so this bravado is the natural progression over time.

Emperor Trump isn’t wearing any more clothing than his predecessors. Like them, he is totally reliant on the Fed’s ability to manage markets. Now that everyone sees this, can we finally agree that the Q-Anon movement is dead?

Earlier went to my Fidelity account where I usually buy TIPs, and it has a message that it cannot sell TIPs at this time due to negative interest rates, and indeed none are available for sale. I just parked over $100K in an 11 month CD at 1.9% – I hope its safe.
