Trump Strips CDC of Control of Coronavirus Data

Alarm bells ring as the Trump Administration Strips C.D.C. of Control of Coronavirus Data.

Hospitals have been ordered to bypass the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and send all patient information to a central database in Washington, raising questions about transparency.

The new instructions were posted recently in a little-noticed document on the Department of Health and Human Services website. From now on, the department — not the C.D.C. — will collect daily reports about the patients that each hospital is treating, the number of available beds and ventilators, and other information vital to tracking the pandemic.

“Historically, C.D.C. has been the place where public health data has been sent, and this raises questions about not just access for researchers but access for reporters, access for the public to try to better understand what is happening with the outbreak,” said Jen Kates, the director of global health and H.I.V. policy with the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation.

“How will the data be protected?” she asked. “Will there be transparency, will there be access, and what is the role of the C.D.C. in understanding the data?”

Michael R. Caputo, a Health and Human Services spokesman, called the C.D.C.’s system inadequate and said the two systems would be linked. The C.D.C. would continue to make data public, he said.

“Today, the C.D.C. still has at least a week lag in reporting hospital data,” Mr. Caputo said. “America requires it in real time. The new, faster and complete data system is what our nation needs to defeat the coronavirus, and the C.D.C., an operating division of H.H.S., will certainly participate in this streamlined all-of-government response. They will simply no longer control it.”

The CDC was guaranteed they would still have access to untouched -un bleached – data. The very hour this went into effect the data started to disappear. That is Trump for you, when you are wrong and you know it just hijack the situation and lie.

rach1902

it does look suspicious, but then so does the CDC
however, imho Trump should have down this weeks ago,
and it may be too late now.
it does look like a case of data manipulation
(although many people around do have their suspicions that this crisis is being manipulated by various organisations with a political intent in mind)

60,000 cases a day doesnt look good,

and looking at the number of daily virus cases points one in the inevitable
direction of
a) bad figures (60,000 cases daily) = good for the Democrats
b) good figures (rapidly falling numbers of cases ) = good for Republicans

any piece of bad economic news is good for Biden et al
and any piece of good economic news is good for Trump et al

from the point of view of the neutral,
the Democrats are a bunch of whining losers,
and you can only say that at least Trump is trying is best to help everyone
(although perhaps not in this way)

Trump has and will only ever help himself. It will only be sheer coincidence if that ends up helping anyone else. But one thing is certain, so called scientists are now accustomed to sidestepping democracy and the law in order to drag society into their dictatorship having cut their teeth on the contaminated data of Man Made Global Warming, they even got good at marketing when they decidede to change the name of that to CLIMATE CHANGE! They are doing the same pattern with Covid, a pseudoscientific dictatorship.

This is an overdue and smart move. With Florida, labs have been reporting 100% positives – those labs should have been immediately prohibited from reporting (closed down?) and their results never entered into a database. Labs above 50% should be audited immediately for quality control. That CDC is not on the ball is apparent to anyone involved in measurement and analysis of dynamic events – why are public health officials not held accountable for lack of quality control?

Now tRump will show data to prove his points he has been trying to make:

  1. CoronaVirus is a hoax
  2. CoronaVirus is just a Flu
  3. CoronaVirus is beautifully under control
  4. 99% of CoronaVirus is harmless
  5. CoronaVirus essentially has disappeared Magically
  6. It’s totally safe to fully re-open all the economic activities NOW
  7. it’s 100% safe to open all schools on time.
  8. Facemask and social distancing are for wimps who hate America
  9. All testing and contact tracing are pure waste of taxpayers’ money, and thus must be stopped immediately
  10. If you know somebody who suffered or died from CoronaVirus, he must be a Democrat!

Now that the US with less than 5% of the world’s populations boasts 25% of the world’s Covid cases it is time to start fudging the numbers Trump style. If those numbers are not a sad indictment of our federal government’s attempt to handle the Covid epidemic in this country I don’t know what is. At least Trump can claim America first on this one.

Some numbers.

“In a French study, a boy with Covid-19 exposed over 80 classmates at three schools to the disease. None contracted it. Transmission of other
respiratory diseases, including influenza transmission, was common at the schools.

In a study in New South Wales, nine infected students and nine staff across 15 schools exposed a total of 735 students and 128 staff
to Covid-19. Only two secondary infections resulted, one transmitted by an adult to a child.”

There is severe irony in sidelining the “Center for Disease Control” in the midst of a raging pandemic.

Further, to replace it by “Javanks’a Really Good Info That You Can Really Really Trust” that will be lead by the POTUS’s son-in-law.

As Navarro cast shade yesterday…“Dr. Anthony Fauci has a good bedside manner with the public, but he has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on.“ and “So when you ask me whether I listen to Dr. Fauci’s advice, my answer is: only with skepticism and caution.“

Gambling with the future of the country without understanding the possible losses.

Feel better now with Dr. Navarro in charge?

Well, Trump can use his new authority over the data to reopen the economy and just in the nick of time 2 weeks before the November 3rd election use the same data to make sure all polls remain closed, or at least enough polls in democratic districts. Or use the data to selectively close polls in urban districts where most democrats live, or not to close them but to put a scare into people who will stay away from the polls.

“CDC isn’t able to manage the data, so we’re going to compile it in Washington.”

“How about the industry pays for the IS upgrades needed at the CDC in return for keeping their tax exempt status?”

Just get out of the way and let any test site and tester (and tested) report whatever the heck he feels like. In real time. No oversight. Just freedom of speech. Then different approaches at aggregation, can slug it out for trustworthiness with the public.

Of course, doing so would result in the most competent “winning.” Rather than the most connected and most lobbied up.

I disagree BB, they are creating wealth for the owners of those assets on Wall Street, 84% of which are owned by 10% of the American population, of course the new FRN’s are just transferring ownership from the nation at large to the top wealthy donor class. Maybe a better way to put it is that the Fed is writing an insurance policy for the wealthy, “no matter how much we destroy the dollar you will be (more) insulated from the damage than the rest of the nation.”

Right now you should get on your knees and pray to your imaginary god your grateful thanks you are even still allowed to own a gun because if the MAJORITY of Americans had their way you would be keeping your weapons in the local armory as part of the militia the constitutiona ACTUALLY authorized, and probably would not pass a psychiatric eval we should apply to all gun owners before they are allowed to access weapons.

Does the new entity data is to be reported to have a system that can expose it in real time. Is that system tested? And, what stops hospitals, etc. from reporting to both the CDC and the new site?

And, yeah, I used the term, “site”, loosely. 🙂

In the end, it would certainly be good if the data processing on all this is improved. Bad data. Slow data. And, in the end, most of the data is misleading, at best.
