The New York Times reports Trump Wants to Deliver Prime Time Address on Government Shutdown and Will Visit the Border
The White House did not immediately respond to questions about a request to television networks to carve out time for an Oval Office address. A person familiar with the request said the White House had asked to interrupt prime time programming on Tuesday.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, announced Mr. Trump’s plans to travel to the border on Thursday, which would be the 20th day of the partial government shutdown if an agreement between Congress and the White House is not reached in the meantime.
Mr. Trump has said he would not sign legislation to fund shuttered agencies — and reopen the government — unless it includes funding for a border wall between the United States and Mexico. Nancy Pelosi, the new speaker of the House, which came under Democratic control last week, has asserted that the president is “not going to get a wall.”
Trump can say all he want’s but it is not the nation he needs to convince, it’s Nancy Pelosi.
Then again, perhaps he will declare a national emergency.

Can anyone imagine how tea bag lunatics would have reacted if Obama had declared a national emergency over some pet left wing issue?
It’ll go something like this: “Brown are people terrorists, and they are swarming in by the millions! Boogaboogabooga! Only I can save you, because I know more about everything than anybody! The government workers that aren’t getting paid, which is ok because they’re all democrats, are striking in support of the wall! The magical, beautiful, very strong wall that will magically keep us safe forever! We have to build the wall, or Ann Coulter will make fun of me! (did i say that out loud?)”
Two faced networks cant decide ? If it were Obama they would not even be thinking twice. It is a crisis at the border. Sitting president should be covered by all networks.
A crisis? Nobody’s getting through… they all end up in that concentration camp.

Except the networks chose not to give airtime to Obama when he made an oval office speech about immigration, saying it was too political.
“Just words” Trump will say…anything. Go figure.
To me, the most interesting thing about the government shutdown is that nothing much has changed. The country, it seems, functions just fine with the government shut down. The next logical step is to defund all the departments that are closed, but which haven’t been missed. And, this is is exactly why the government shutdown won’t continue too much longer. Neither party wants the general public to open their eyes one day and say “all these government employees really aren’t necessary after all”.
I was thinking the same thing. At least Trump is good for something. Let it stay shutdown and save taxpayers money.
It won’t actually save any money because, when they re-open, they will give all the employees back pay, so essentially they are on vacation. Where it would save money is if, after they re-open, they go back and eliminate the departments that no one missed.
Maybe he can play the fiddle for us on primetime.

Donny doesn’t need to convince me that we need the Wall so that we can know who is entering our country. I just want to know how he will end the Schumer Shutdown and get the wall built.

Payless paydays for Federal workers and other issues are going to be catching up later in the week. Now he’s gonna give in to keep his polling numbers up.
Just wait until EBT (food stamp) money doesn’t go out.
Pelosi is going to be under withering fire for “starving Americans” because she won’t give a token amount of money to stop illegals.
The longer this stalemate goes on, the more Trump wins.
EBT money is funded fully for January. It will start to run out sometime in February and if it does there will be riots in Democrat controlled areas with heavy EBT dependence.
This may be a perfect time to refresh on the difference between anecdotal and empirical evidence. Trump is a 110% anecdotal-kinda guy. Reality is drawn from empirical.
