Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle Blames “Sloped Roof” for Security Failure

Let’s discuss the latest excuse by Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle regarding the attempted assassination. As a side note, I just learned she graduated from the same high school as I did.

WANDTV reports Secret Service director under scrutiny after shooting at Trump rally is Schlarman High and EIU grad.

The Secret Service Director who is under scrutiny following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has ties to Central Illinois.

Kim Cheatle is a 1988 graduate of Schlarman High School, the News Gazette reports.

Cheatle said she is confident in the Secret Service’s plan to provide security for the Republican National Convention, which started Monday in Milwaukee.

A shooter took aim at former President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pa. Saturday, hitting Trump in the ear. A civilian was killed, and others were injured.

“The incident in Pennsylvania has understandably led to questions about potential updates or changes to the security for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee,” Cheatle said in Monday’s statement. “… I am confident in the security plan our Secret Service RNC coordinator and our partners have put in place, which we have reviewed and strengthened in the wake of Saturday’s shooting.

Cheatle was named Secret Service Director by President Joe Biden in 2022. She was the senior director at PepsiCo, responsible for managing facilities, personnel and business functions, when she got the call from Biden’s office.

She majored in sociology and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1992. By that time, she had already applied for a job as a Secret Service agent.

Cheatle was honored by EIU in 2023 with a Distinguished Alumni award and participated in a recruiting event in Charleston.

Obviously Not and Truly Delusional

I was hired by the service and trained, and I think that’s one of the things the agency does very well.”

Someone On the Ball Originally

The News Gazette reports Cheatle was previously turned down for a role with the Secret Service when she applied in college but was accepted into a position at the Detroit field office two years later.

Calm or Comatose

“If you talk to any law-enforcement agency, they will tell you that when crises occur, they fall back on their training,” she told the paper. “During an event like that, that’s what I’ve always done. That sort of calmness sets in and you fall back on your training, and you think about it later. For us, that’s very important.”

It’s OK to fall back on training, but only provided you learned something in training.

A Word About Training

“That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.”

The Secret Service Failed its Only Mission. Biden Should Fire the Director

I repeat what I said previously, The Secret Service Failed its Only Mission. Biden Should Fire the Director

As more videos and interviews turn up, it’s clear the SS failed its only mission. Will anyone be held responsible? At any level?

All roofs have slopes, a roof is designed to allow water to run off of it.
THe roof in question had a 10 degree slope, with 90 degrees being a right angle or a wall(straight up and down) a 10 degree pitch is 1/9 th of that angle, and is a rather slight pitch, like walking up a very mild hill or slightly sloping sidewalk.

If such a tremendous burden as a 10 degree slope can stop the secret service, what to they do when they meet a locked door, or a fierce looking kitty cat?

Really this is the best leadership our nation can offer us? She is the creme de la creme of tactical defense? and she can’t deal with a 10 degree slope.

Clown world and globohomo are merging in real time. This women should not be fired, she should be prosecuted for dereliction of duty and gross malfeasance.

something is very rotten in the District of Columbia and the odor is engulfing our nation…

From Peakprosperty:

One company was responsible for shorting DJT. Austin Private Wealth LLC. 12,000,000 stock short.

Short placed on 7/12, day before the shooting and position closed on 7/16.

DJT Short Positions, Funds Shorting Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (fintel.io)

The only quarterly filing to the SEC ever amended by the company is in relation to this short:
https://www.sec.gov/edgar/browse/?CIK=1800328&owner=exclude

The company has close ties to Dick Cheney, who also has close ties to the Director of the SS, as his daughter Mary Cheney is married to the CEO of Austin Wealth Management. The current director of the Secret Service was on Cheney’s personal security detail as a Secret Service Agent when he was Vice President. She was then on Biden’s detail when he was Vice President.

She should have all agents watch the movies “In The Line of Fire” and “Air Force One.” They’ll see how Secret Service agents are supposed to act and react when the President is threatened, since obviously their training is lacking.

please edit “turned into” to “devolved into” perhaps Devo was right and devolution is the path of the future. The D in DEI, might actuall be Devolution.

I have stopped flying on public aircraft, since DEI was embraced by the airlines, the Boeing thing was just typical (bad) business management, raise the stock, bonuses all around, kill the workers and the business. Brilliant business strategy, these are the same great thinkers we have in Washington D.C.(D.C.> Devolution Central….

My house has a steel roof with 2x the pitch that roof has, is incredibly slippery but I have crawled up it on many occasions with no problem or difficulty risking a 30ft drop if I fell off. I would classify that roof as practically flat compared to most pitched roofs. The roof the snipers were on appears to have even more of a pitch. I find the excuse beyond absurd, at a minimum they should have guarded the perimeter of the building. Also, not only did dozens of civilians see him crawling up with a gun, so did some police. This happened minutes before the shooting, they had more than enough time to call and get Trump off the stage, why did that not happen? Also they said the sniper could see the shooter but wasn’t allowed to engage because they couldn’t be sure the shooter on the roof had a gun. This is ridiculous, at less than 200 yards with the high quality high powered scope the sniper would have, it would be impossible not to see the gun and again, even if you don’t engage you immediately put the call up to get Trump off the stage.

This is just either unbelievable incompetence in numerous instances or worse. Considering all of the shocking hate directed by many towards Trump, the constant talk by the MSM talking heads and many Democrat officials including Biden that Trump is the greatest threat to Democracy the Nation has ever seen, it would not surprise me at all if this was less about incompetence and more about collusion, after all in their minds they have been brainwashed into believing they would be doing a good thing, they would be stopping a “monster” if Trump were eliminated. Let’s hope it’s just a case of gross incompetence.

Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle Blames “Sloped Roof” for Security Failure.
I blame sheer and total incompetence, and quite possibly, with a motive involved to do so, but I digress…
These people in charge (DEI or Not) are absolute morons and so delusional in their approaches to any issues of Safety for American Citizens, obviously which now includes the Leading Presidential Candidate, so go figure for yourself, what that may imply… Not like it’s a stretch by anyone to think this way, based upon Open Borders, with drugs, crime, etc. streaming across and rules in place to allow it to continue unabated, and with no consequences to the perpetrators…

Trump was shot. He reflexively reacted to the wound he received, just as JFK reflexively reacted to his first gunshot wound. Trump ducked a moment after reacting to being shot. The expression on Trump’s face in the photo of him crouched down on the stage, makes it very clear he was shot.

The best I can say that if this isn’t something worse the incompetence of the planners at the secret service was staggering and will eventually be a study of how many ways there are not to protect a president. My tinfoil conspiracy theory has 2 parts. The first is that the shooter never intended to kill Trump, just wound him. The shooter succeeded in that goal.

The 2nd part is that Trump’s security team was intentionally hobbled in the hopes that something would happen to him. Despite the secret service’s best efforts to get Trump killed, it was a doomed plan because that was not the shooter’s goal.

I’m not averse to conspiracy theories … but the logistics have to work at some level. As you point out … the sudden movement … and as we see that it is a 1/4″ accuracy issue from 150 yards … the logistics just are not there. If someone wants to say that the shooter was paid by Russia or China or the DNC or whoever … there is a possibility … but I would not agree to have a 20 year old kid shoot and require that level of accuracy with my head moving.

You have to be joking! If the intent was only to wound and not kill then a marksman would aim for the arm/shoulder and not the ear. Plus aiming for the ear has too much risk of being off by an inch either by the target moving his head like Trump did or by any slight error in aiming. The shooter wasn’t a sharpshooter but just a guy who wasn’t skilled at all.

Moi
Moi

Reply to  dtj

That theory is ridiculous, as others have pointed out to aim for and just knick his ear would be a tough shot on a stationary object let alone one that is constantly moving. If your off by one inch he’s instantly dead. But your theory just highlights the distrust people have with any sort of news, it happens constantly on both sides. I solely put the blame for this on the Mainstream Media. They have so destroyed their credibility, been caught in so many lies and hiding and manipulating the truth it has gotten to a point where nobody trusts what is being reported and this spawns all sorts of conspiracies, it happens in your country and my country. That is a true crisis!

It has been my experience that metal barn roofs can be SLICK and might be a challenge for city folks, especially, if moving around on them is new to them and depending on their footwear. Then there’s the fear of heights, not everyone can work aloft. As to those non-English speaking roofers, it’s not uncommon for them to end up in the ER from falls. They may have failed to plan for this building?

They are reporting a purchase of a 5′ ladder at Home Depot while Daily Mail has a picture of a 10′ ladder against the building. I guess a 5′ ladder is more believable than a 10 footer that is very heavy and everyone within 500′ would notice.

SS agent #1 talking to SS agent #2 is there a bathroom inside this building otherwise I have to go outside to pee.
Maybe I’ll go outside by the back wall.
SS agent #2 responds nah why bother, go in that corner over there. It’s hot outside.

Now these people were stationed inside a building which posed a threat to the stage for logistical purpose. This is high command logic to realize that taking a walk around the building is a worthwhile endeavor?
If anyone was present, asking for some show of ID in a secured location and purpose for being there is standard fare.

also there should be a rule, that no civilians with rifles at political speeches. a million rules fail, when no one bothers to enforce them. Deliberate or incompetence, the end result is the same. The FBI and the Secret Service need to be rebuilt from the ground up. Merit must be measured and be the only measure of the individuals advancement in the heirarchy. the useless and the political hires must be terminated with a letter in their file, like you know the fbi sniper who shot and killed Randy Weaver’s wife, oh wait he got a medal, but he did get a letter in his file for losing his phone… so kinda a half win…..

It’s a long-standing stutter; it’s a head cold; it’s overpreparation. This sloped roof nonsense easily dismissed by fact the SS snipers were on a steeper roof and, after the suspect was killed, folks were walking all over that shallow roof with ease. The cover ups have been happening for a long long time and the drivebys will hear that she made a statement and accept it at face value. Same folks took “51 intelligence officials” word on the Hunter Biden laptop story, which we now know was complete election interference by abusing deep state power by folks that were aware the FBI had it in their possession and it was very real.

At this point I wouldn’t believe anything that comes from government, I’d have to be there and see it with my own eyes. Even then I would question the integrity of what I was looking at (ex: FBI laying out Top Secret folders on floor for photo op at Mar-a-Lago which we now also know was staged).

This director should step down. A botched operation nearly leading to President Trump’s demise requires taking responsibility. Head coaches in the NFL are fired the next day in situations like this. They know the score when they take the job.

And when NPR told folks within 2 hours of the incident to stand down/tamp it down, well, I nearly lost it. Most persecuted person I’ve witnessed and still stays in the fight. I will not stand down. In fact, why should we tamp it down/tone it down/stand down when the Secret Service director, who failed, won’t step down.

Utterly unfit for purpose, dysfunctional, if not outright criminal and treasonous. Typical of the entire Biden regime.

The more I’ve aged the more I’ve come to dislike females of any age and especially those in any political office. ☮️🔦✝️

I’m with you! I started off being rather egalitarian and then gradually, through life experience realized why women were held back throughout history.

Sloped roof was a hazard?..I mean that’s on the level of ‘the dog ate my homework’ excuse when the teacher knows the kid doesn’t even have a dog.

She’ll resign, in time. She has too, or get fired. Her comments only reinforce her incompetency in be the leadership position she is.

They’ll replace her with another non-white non-male person. And who uses the pronoun “they.”

When’s the next High School Reunion? Could be fun. The pitch on that roof is maybe 3-12? Not much of a pitch.

yep. Should be easily able to walk the rafters without sheathing on them.
No more difficult then walking on a sidewalk when it is sheathed and roofed.

Incompetence from A to Z in so many Democrat appointees is not by chance but by design. J. D. Vance and I are from the same town, went to the same high school and the same university.

Between my father, brother and I and other relatives we were able to figure out who is who in the book. Funny thing, one of those who grew up in a very dysfunctional household ended up owning 52 houses at the last count.
