Obama’s main achievement was not health care.
I have commented on this numerous times. Obama worked out a great deal with Iran and Trump wrecked it.

All of our allies, even top US military said Iran was honoring the terms.

Good point and was the big cash sent over to Iran have anything to do with this?

His worse achievement was Obama care, not necessarily the law itself but, he bypassed all Republicans to pass this legislation and it officially started the war that has divided the country much more than Trump. Since then there has been essentially no bipartisanship. He did not not start this conflict but he put the final nail in the coffin. We may not recover.

“…officially started the war that has divided the country much more…”

This is utter garbage. That war has been ongoing, but if you want a point where bipartisanship failed, you need to go back at least to Gingrich and company, if not to the end of the Reagan years.

I voted for my Golden Retriever in 2016 since my Presidential vote does not count in MA. However, Manufacturing jobs started coming back in 2010, with 500K added since Trump has been in office, with all gains wiped out w/C19 (August 2014 levels):

Neither Party will balance the budget. Unending wars will continue no matter who is in office because CONgress continues to FUND it via NDAA.

In both Party’s cases, lobbyists pay Congress Members quarterly dues, with the expectation that they will vote the way they want. Those dues increase based on the position they hold.

In any event, neither side will solve anything or make your life better. For 2A proponents, when/if Amy is seated, you no longer have to worry which way Roberts will vote – which is a great thing as anti-liberty state AG’s like mine will no longer rule by edict.

Thanks to Trump, and the lack of safety precautions, Amy may not even be voted on due to Covid infecting at least two Republican Senators, both on the Judiciary Committee.

I am not a Trump supporter. My only hope is that Trump keeps the main politicians from doing much but fight against him. The less the government gets done the better. Biden will just be a sock puppet for all the great government plans.

If they would go after the corrupt bankers, it would be even better. But neither side will do that.

Mish, can you please create a question and answers list like this for all prior presidents? I am unfamiliar with each politician’s record, the only thing I do know is that I am 43 years old and from the time I could understand the human language, my men relatives said all politicians are liars and crooks, which is the category I put Trump in. Biden is also is in that category, but he has am asterisk beside his name, which means he’s a puppet that has no real remaining cognitive ability and even if he makes it four years, he’ll be a puppet for the darkness the democratic party displays regularly.

The real reason Mish is against Trump, is simple, he is standing in the way of the globalists. Mish and the Democrats are in the pockets of China and the globalists who want to dissolve America and integrate it into a one world dictatorship run by the worlds elite.
It is amazing Trump was able to accomplish anything considering he has been defending himself from constant government orchestrated attacks since before he took office. Mish and the Democrats do not believe in our republic, they believe in fascism based on domestic terrorism and violence.
How many articles has Mish done condemning the domestic terrorism we see on our streets? None. Why? Because he supports the violent fascist take over of America by the left. It is only when America is brought to its knees by the Socialists that they will agree to surrender to the globalists.
This election is not about any of the issues Mish stated, it is about our very survival as a sovereign country.

Mish, I seem to recall that you were pro Trump once upon a time , that being said, let me answer your questions with some other questions : What were Obama’s merits apart from Obamacare?( was it a merit?) What did Obama do for the country during his presidency (8 years) apart from starting a couple of other wars and/or problems in the Middel East? Would Hillary, apart from triggering some more geopolitical conflicts, have done better? Unlike Trump she would ve been ‘politically correct of course, like her mocking, ‘we came we saw and Khadaffi died’ ( beaten, sodomised and murdered she forgot to add). How will Biden do apart from executing Deep State politicies ? …..but Trump is a unpleasant egotistical jerk, I agree on that one !

There is a comment below that stands as one of the most insightful comments on the Trump phenomenon. Expectations were formed and not realized, making the letdown so much worse. The same is true for HRC. The expectation was she would win. By not winning, defeating Trump became THE ONLY AGENDA.

Taking Mish’s 14 questions, I’d ask if the issue underlying each question is inherently bad? Anyone think the USA should have open immigration, for example? If you do, you need a lesson in economics and human behavior. Unfettered immigration until continue until the USA has the same living standard as the originating countries.
Regarding the ‘deep state’, should we do nothing about government incompetence; for example the mask fiasco? Or corruption in the FBI and DOJ? Eg. FISA Applications?

The point is Trump identified a series of critical issues, setting expectations.
There is ONLY ONE question: was Trump merely not up to the task, or were the forces aligned against him so great that success was impossible? The evidence is right in front of you. Besides Fox, did any mass media EVER say anything positive/supportive? Instead, we were shown child prisons from the Obama era.

Unfortunately, many readers are unable to critically process information, merely suck up what they read/hear. Obamacare was doomed from day one. IT purported to be insurance, but wasn’t. It was another government social program, a grand goal with poor implementation, placing the cost on taxpayers.

The lesson from the last 3.5 years: mind control is infinitely easier with closed minds.

I don’t believe that Biden is the savior by any means. I argued against him all through the primaries and thought his sorry ass was dead and gone, until the Dem establishment showed the power they have by reviving his campaign when it looked like Sanders had a lock.

But at this juncture, Trump is a “clear and present danger” to the USA and the world. Biden is simply the lesser of two evils.

Comments about IQ tend to operate in reverse. That said, Biden’s education reflects a C-average student throughout. (see his Wikipedia bio). I don’t know his IQ, but 105-110 would be generous. However, he’s a politician. He won’t go off half-cocked. He appears relatively harmless and inoffensive (your lesser of two evils). When it comes time to solve any problem, he’ll set up a committee. He isn’t a leader in the real sense of the word. At best he’s a facilitator. At worst, he will be a deep-state puppet.

Trump supporters were much more likable in 2016 when they were being honest with themselves. They didn’t want the corrupt establishment candidate so they opted for the outsider instead. They were protesting an amoral, stagnant status quo and that’s totally understandable.

However, after Trump took office they started fantasizing about 4D chess and habitually excusing away Trump’s many shortcomings. It turned out that not much changed with him. The deficits got even larger, the MIC even more bloated, and the pandering to banks continued unabated. Our march to insolvency accelerated, if anything. The Trump experiment is clearly a failure.

Biden won’t fix anything but with hindsight we all know Trump won’t either. The fact that people are willing to take up arms for this guy shows how desperate people are for a hero that isn’t coming. They would be better served preparing for a tougher future and stop believing in the red/blue game despite being betrayed umpteen times!

If there is any presumption it is the other way, against the holders of power, increasing as the power increases. Historic responsibility has to make up for the want of legal responsibility. Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Many of us aren’t as concerned about Biden as we are his Party, and we don’t think Biden will be around to keep the other Dems in check (or that if he is still around, he won’t do a strong job of keeping them in check).

My biggest concern with a Biden win is that it’s likely accompanied by a Democratic House and Democratic Senate.

Since I don’t like either Prez candidate, I’ll be happiest if the Senate and White House are held by different parties (the House staying with Dems is a done deal).

Hillary told Biden to NOT concede under any circumstances and Obama/Biden started a Democrat coup attempt against Trump through FBI/CIA in 2016 even before Trump became president based on bogus Steele Dossier ordered and paid for by Hillary Clinton and DNC and full of LIES invented by a Russian living in USA long-term and working for a Democrat thinktank and this morphed into Mueller Special Counsel that was so corrupt that the agents assigned to Mueller Special Counsel investigation “accidentally” wiped 27 phones when DOJ Inspector General asked to see the phones when probing the overreach and wrongdoing committed by Mueller Special Counsel.

Agreed on Trump’s playing with fire with the election. Can we also agree that a weakly predicated investigation of a sitting president, while the media implies his illegitimacy, or pushing narratives about widespread voter suppression are also very dangerous?

The fear of the Dems is hilarious. Under the last few Dem presidents growth has not been bad. The last two financial crises came under Republican presidents – not Dems. Second big money and the lobbyist will continue to control and the Supreme Court is firmly locked in to be pro-business, pro-life, small government. I think you are fairly safe.

Dems have made a hard left in the last 5 years.

Obama railed against cancel culture. It’s basically a major party tenet now.

Biden and Harris were pro-cop, law-and-order pols. You don’t hear any of that now.

I’m not afraid of what Dems were. I voted for Obama (and never have or will vote for a Trump). I’m afraid of what they’ve become. What they did years ago means nothing now.

I think the question to day is how does Trump’s contracting the virus impact his re-election. Not only does Trump have a duty to keep the country safe but he has a duty to keep his staff and himself safe to protect the country. It clearly looks like not only has he not adequately protected the country but he exposed himself and his team unnecessarily. There was minimal social distancing and use of masks.

Trump’s answer he gets tested daily. Well a negative pregnancy test is no substitue for birth control just like a covi test is no substute for social distancing and ask wearing

Think of it this way: Trump has had covid. When he gets better, there is no more reason to worry about him and covid for the next 4 years. He can’t get it again ( I don’t believe the reports that say it can happen) and he can’t pass it on once it’s out of his system. Biden will be forever hiding and distancing to protect himself.

Biden led the Foreign Relations Committee in Senate when USA attacked Iraq.

Biden led the Senate Judiciary committee for a long time and bragged on the Senate floor how he wrote or took part in writing ALL the prison, crime, drug, sentencing laws for years and years during Reagan presidency, George H.W. Bush presidency and first two years of Clinton presidency since Democrats had majority during that time culminating in the 1994 crime bill and Biden bragging on the Senate floor his bill is locking people up for everything else except jaywalking.

Biden also took part in writing and sponsored the bankruptcy laws and creditcard laws so average American getting creditcards in the mail without having asked for them and paying average 21% in interest and many never even paying their interest on their credit card bills is all Joe Biden and Hunter Biden was given a cushy job at huge salary, luxury office at MBNA aka the biggest creditcard issuer at the time around this time.

Joe Biden also made sure that student debt would NOT be dischargeable in bankruptcy and this led to students getting double the amount in student loans from banks because risk of non-payment was removed/minimized and that led to doubling of the college/university tuition because more money was available so more money was charged and this led to students under huge debt loads with no realistic way to pay them and demanding that their student debts should be cancelled from the man aka Joe Biden who created those student debts.

With respect, communist Cuba may be as bad a place as you have ever seen, but had you grown up in America which really was great in my lifetime only to see what it has become now and accelerated under the Trump hate regime you would understand why I put “CUBA” in quotes, it was a metaphore, and was not about modern communist Cuba at all, but about a quasi socialist nation led by Biden being better than a fascist US led by Trump and his filthy supporters who know only hate and fear and demand obedience and above all white skin .

A future of this nation under Trump would be a worse place to live for us than Cuba ever was on it’s worst day, in part because of how much we have lost. A Biden Cuba would be better than a Trump America circa 2024, because in Trump’s MAGA United States we have no checks or balances, no real freedom, just a few with privileges as long as you obey and conform. 70% of us will be in poverty, and many in deep structural poverty no different from Cuba. Elections may happen but would have no more impact than if you held an election in Cuba today. Lies would be all you get and you would know they were lies, but when that is all you can get you just have no choices.

There is no fictional dystopia be it Hunger Games, 1984, The Handmaid’s Tale, Brave New World, The Running Man, that would be worse than the MAGA world Trump and his supporters think is so GREAT!

I wonder though, being an immigrant, what you think about Trump’s SHITHOLE comments when it comes to immigration from the Caribbean? I can tell you this much, if you want to see Trump and the GOP’s America of 2040 all you have to do is go to Tijuana, bucause that is what thr GOP wet dream would result in.

Hysterical nonsense. You clearly don’t know what fascism is, nor recognize how much hate and fear has been unleashed by the left in this country. All of the racial division in this country is coming from the woke, who have abandoned MLK’s beautiful ideals. It’s a shame that people raised here don’t understand how unique and wonderful the US is. There I said it.

You probably should go back to Cuba then right? Because you clearly do not appreciate what you have here. My father was an immigrant and I hold a passport in both US and his homeleand, I have lived there, it is a socialist paradise they tell me, I hated it, I want nothing to do with the EU and cannot wait to see it fail, ask anyone here about my reasons when we were all talking about Brexit.

But, there is also a fascism that is DEEPLY rooted in the republican party and usually wropping the US flag around itself which demands conformity and assume older wealthy white male patriarchy that I can tell you right now the USA is NEVER going back to no matter how much traditionalists agitate for it. I live in Florida and am well aware of the Cuban Latin penchent for male domination and GOP leanings, the only thing about it that is American is that you have the freedom to be jerks you would not have in Cuba, and I think that is what pisses Cubans here off the most, they long for the corrupt Fulgencio Batista (a fascist if there ever was one) days when men with money were little gods in thier own houses. Emphasis on LITTLE!

Unless you have been naturalized you are guest in America, I know from my uncle’s naturilzation that the tests to become an American citizen are not exactly very difficult. There is more to learning about America and how to be American than getting a 70% score on a test.

Racist “cues” imagined and invented by media straight up LYING about what Trump has said and Democrats repeating the media’s lies and inventing new ones.

VS

Democrats who openly support rioting, looting, arson and attack police and want to defund/abolish police and want open borders and no border enforcement and abolishing ICE and NO deportations and promise 125k “refugees” every year from UN camps where EVERYONE was already SAFE and promise amnesty and US citizenship for all current ILLEGAL immigrants in USA that number 29.5 million (MIT-Yale 2018) which creates 29.5 million new Democrat voters turning many Republican states Democrat controlled California’s and say they want to create two new states from Puerto Rico and Washington DC to get 4 new Democrat Senators and say they want pack the Supreme Court so it is 13 members or more so it has instantly 7-6 Democrat majority and say they want to end filibuster.

If you vote for Democrats in 2020 you are voting for one party control for Democrats for the next 100 years.

jfpersona1
jfpersona1

Those cues are not made up by the Democrats. They are from quotes our President has made and continues to make/add to.

And the canard about Democrats supporting rioting and such is getting old. It’s never been true and is pulled out (along with immigration) whenever someone has run out of real arguments. No one (hence the strawman argument) wants rioting and destruction – the difference between the parties is actually rather subtle, since neither really wants to change things very much. That is the problem.

The destruction comes from hopelessness that leads to ‘nothing left to lose’ mentality. Neither party has outlined a plan to move toward a position that gives those hopeless people ‘something to lose’. If that happened, I think you would see progress on many social fronts – the problem is that the change involved would be large. Our society would need to solve it’s inequality problem and address the racism inherent in many of our institutions – these problems are multi-generational and I don’t particularly see them being solved quickly nor without major disruption to our economy and ‘way of life’.

This, however, brings up the one difference between the parties that is probative — the Democrats have a broader target for their power base compared to the Republicans. From an equality standpoint, that is the easier place to start. Again, neither party really wants to disrupt the current flow of money (and power) to their respective leaderships; hence neither party really wants all the change necessary to fix some of these problems. However, the Democratic party will be more responsive to those working to highlight and solve these problems because those people are part of their base; the Republican party is too beholden to protecting the economic interests of the top 1% and to appeasing those that really don’t want change at all.

Both candidates are problematic, but for different reasons. I am not unconcerned about the Democrat’s love of all things PC and BLM.

Kendi (born Henry Rogers) is not someone I consider a legitimate civil rights hero…..far from it.

The 1619 Project is a misguided attempt to re-write history.

BLM is a nest of young Marxists who are going to go down because of corruption, most likely. They are getting a whole lot of money, and I follow how it’s being spent.

Hint: Most of the money goes to the founders and their “consultants”. Trump is not the only one who plays fast and loose with money.

But Trump? Trump is an IMMEDIATE threat to just about everything I hold dear. So I’ll take my chances with the socialist revolution…for the moment.

Feature of socialist revolutions is that they are permanent and Democracy is removed and the socialism only stops after everything is ruined and a lot of people have been killed for not being socialist/marxist/communist enough.

1.
Democrats have publicly said they plan to end the filibuster completely so total control on all things for Democrats.
2.
Several Democrats have said they want to make Washington DC and Puerto Rico states and that would give Democrats 4 more Senate seats and many House Seats ensuring Senate majority in almost every election and increasing their majority in the House.
3.
Several Democrats have proposed packing the Supreme Court with leftist judges by raising the number of judges from 9 to 13 so it would be 7-6 for Democrats instead of 6-3 for Republicans after Barrett.
4.
Joe Biden has promised amnesty and US citizenship for all current ILLEGAL immigrants in USa and there are 29.5 million according to a MIT-Yale study from 2018 so that would mean 29.5 million new Democrat voters making many Republican states permanently like California aka always won by Democrats so this would ensure a Democrat president for the next 100 years and Democrat House for the next 100 years and with Washington DC and Puerto Rico being made states a Democrat Senate for the next 100 years and this would lead to Democrats moving to become a party of Bernie/AOC and even more socialist Democrats so every stupid socialist policy Democrats could think of would be done.

Democrats are the authoritarians as evidenced by Biden promising to shut whole of USA down into a lockdown if an “expert” recommends it to him and several Democrat governors/mayors running brutal lockdowns where police harass jews (Cuomo and De Blasio), good for you but not for me policies (Nancy Pelosi’s haircut during hairdersses and barbers being ordered closed, Chicago Mayor’s haircut, California state gyms for bureaucrats and politicians being open when private gyms were forced shut, Arrests and fines and harassment for every restaurant or gym who broke rules, Gov. Whitmer’s planned boating trip etc.), religious persecution of closing churches and even fining people coming for a drive-in church service and sitting in their cars, destroyng businesses with lockdowns with a smile on their face, New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Illinois Democrat governors ordering Covid patients to nursing homes, having Democrat funded organizations sue states to get more looser voting regulations and then Democrat governors “circumventing” the suit by ordering more looser voting regulations.

No and no. Trump is a charlatan. HOWEVER, some 20-40% of the Dem party is in the thrall of CRT, which undermines our founding principles, evidence, reason, justice, capitalism, education and interracial relations. And Biden has no spine to resist his left wing (unlike, say, a Bloomberg or perhaps Klobuchar could have). America can survive Trump.
