Trump Taps Amy Barrett to Replace Ginsburg on the Supreme Court

As widely speculated, Trump Plans to Nominate Amy Coney Barrett to Fill Supreme Court Vacancy

Judge Barrett, 48 years old, a member of the Chicago-based Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, is a former law clerk for the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

People close to the White House cautioned that the decision won’t be final until Mr. Trump makes the official announcement, which is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. Eastern time.

Mr. Trump told reporters Friday at Andrews Air Force Base, near Washington, D.C., that he had made a decision, “in my own mind” but declined to elaborate. Told it was being reported that Judge Barrett got the nod, Mr. Trump responded, “I haven’t said that…I haven’t said it was her but she is outstanding.”

Bitter Nomination Process Will Begin

A confirmation looks likely based on Senate Republican Statements Regarding Filling the Supreme Court Vacancy

It takes 4 Republicans to block the appointment. So far there are two.

  • Against: Sue Collins (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
  • Noncommitted: John Boozman (Arkansas), Bill Cassidy (Louisiana), Mike Enzi (Wyoming), Jim Risch (Idaho), Pat Roberts (Kansas) and Tim Scott (South Carolina) have not come out in favor or against a prompt vote.
  • All Other Republican Senators: In favor of a prompt vote.

Lindsey Graham Galling Take

Please play the video. The key part starts at the 20 second mark.

“I want you to use my words against me.”

And they now are.

Speculation

Barrett is Catholic. Speculation is that she would vote to overturn Roe v Wade and Obamacare.

One really does not know.

Barrett successfully ducked all such questions in her 7th Court of Appeals nomination process.

I don’t agree with Barrett and I don’t like how this decision is going down but its a mistake to ignore the fact that Barrett is intelligent and capable. She is qualified and to suggest otherwise is a mistake.

I also think the attacks on Barrett because of the Church she attends are idiotic and puerile. Unless she’s made public statements she can’t really be judged by the affiliation. Many churches , synagogues and mosques are not egalitarian. That’s just a fact. But its a mistake to say that every member of that place of worship privately holds the same position. It’s like saying every Democrat and Republican has adopted the entire party platform.

Totally fair to judge Barrett on her public statements, writings and record on the bench but saying she can’t be a supreme court justice because she doesn’t belong to the right church or simply belongs to any church is not a legitimate criteria

Hey Mish, do you want a dose of truth. Trump is a billionaire. He plays in a league you are not qualified to play in. You are probably working on your first million. The truth is, the key to being rich is not making the money, it is keeping it.
To exist in a world of billionaires, you need to play 4D chess constantly. To survive the onslaught of the entire globalist cartel who is spending billions to defeat you, you need to be playing 4D chess. You are a mental midget, and will never compete on the level of billionaires so you will never understand what I am saying, but keep on working for the globalist cartel, and take whatever crumbs they throw your way, and live with the knowledge that you are a modern day Judas, selling out the American people so that you can live a little better from the money you take from American traitors and enemies……

Isn’t there something in the US Constitution, an amendment or something, about freedom of religion? It goes something like: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…
Now, to me, a non-American by the way, this would seem to mean that one’s religious beliefs, whether fervent or part-time, are irrelevant.

Hypocrisy runs both ways: Please read the remarks of Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Chuck Shumer and other Democratic Senators in 2016 when they insisted that the President was President for the whole four year term and that it was the Duty of the Senate to vote for any Supreme Court nominee. Quite hilarious, surprised that it hasn’t been reported more.

The assumption here is that if you come from a strong religious background, you cannot be an unbiased judge (with name calling for added emphasis). The concern should not be whether the judicial nominee comes with some background bias. Find me a person who doesn’t carry some experiential baggage. Rather, the question becomes whether the nominee can set aside these inherent biases and deliver true blind justice. A review of the nominee’s legal opinions on the various cases they served on over the years should reveal how well they are able to do that. And now that Ms Barrett has been nominated, you can expect her past legal cases to be well parsed by the media.

Being charismatic and speaking in tongues is pretty American, like apple pie. Charismatic people all over the globe have pretty much imported a piece of American culture. Charismatic people (as in Pentacostal) have more in common across denominations than within their own denomination in many respects. Charismatic groups tend to have little formal hierarchy.

Being Catholic and charismatic means you have kind of stepped out beyond plain old traditional Catholicism. The church regarded it warily and with suspicion when this started in the 70s/80s, partly because it operates outside of the traditional hierarchy. The church has become less critical over time. Charismatic people tend to be sincere and nice, they’re hard to hate (unless you’re misanthropic) even if you thinks it’s crazy.

The upshot is that it does not make her a loyal soldier of the pope or extra conservative, quite the opposite. As for the handmaiden or the Kingdom of God, those are just words from ancient translations which Christians use as jargon and metaphors and have no political implications whatsoever, like saying ‘come forth’ or ‘Thou’.

Scant chance of that, she is a female version of Antonin Scalia and a caustic shit disturber that is assured 30 years on the court to throw sand in the gears of justice and settled law. What is left of our pathetic justice system is about to become permanently a source of irritation and decline.

At this point I do not even care if they expand the court to pack it with judges that will prevent going backwards 100 years. If American women really wanted equality and control over their own bodies they should have VOTED for Hillary. We are stuck with an America that is a shithole and very likely will be another 4 years for Trump, and a life appoinment at that because the first thing he will do is have the 22nd amendment overturned as unconstitutional. Because rigged elections are now the new normal and we are in FACT no longer even remotely a democracy, we will remain stuck under a far right theocratic nation of rule by the 1%. Hang on because standards of living for the rest are going to take a steep dive to what you would have called impossible just a couple years ago. With a far right religious majority on the court it will not just be about Roe v Wade but the end of all government assistance and democratic levers of power. The right wingers will finally get their way and then realize they destroyed the nation. They will stop hating Mexicans and start to ENVY Mexico.

America is just not going to make it. That things could get this bad only means that a large minority of the country would euthanize the US rather than allow the left to be the majority. And the left simply is not willing to play the political game on the same level as the right. This is now just going to devolve till we look more like A Clockwork Orange every day. I think at the least a race war will happen unless Trump keels over tomorrow.

Your Democrat colleagues in the CNN and MSNBC and other medias have been trying to cause riots, looting, arson and attacks against police for months now by first making drug dealer and home invader who pointed a gun at a pregnant black woman’s womb in a home invasion and high on fentanyl George Floyd St. George despite him doing the exact “i can’t breathe” routine in 2019 and swallowing drugs when getting arrested in 2019 and then overdosing and being saved by the hospital and unfortunately this time George did not make it in the 2020 case when he ingested fentanyl when police was trying to put him to the back seat of a police car (before the knee on the neck restraint for 8 minutes that was incompetence by the cop which he should be convicted of for manslaughter since it contributed to George Floyd dying in addition to the large amount of Fentanyl George Floyd had ingested which he might have survived as long term drug addict if not for the knee) and George had a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl in his system according to the autopsy.

Then media was obsessed in making drug dealers side piece/ex-girlfriend and money launderer and trap houses visiting and her car for drug deals loaning Breonna St. Breonna even lying that the warrant was a no-knock warrant when in reality the police knocked and yelled loudly enough that they were police to wake up the neighbors and then got shot at by Breonna’s main squeeze when breaking the door since Breonna and her boo chose not to open it and the gun-slinger had taken Breonna with him near the door and Breonna died when police responded to the gun-slingers shots directed at police.
All just so media could instigate some more riots, looting, arson and attacks against police.

The LIE media keeps repeating and brainwashing people with that unarmed black people are shot more by police than unarmed white people is a LIE since police shoot twice the number of unarmed white people as unarmed black people in USA and when blacks commit almost 50% of violent crimes in USA and 53% of murders it takes a special kind of stupid/dishonest person to calculate statistics from their 13% population and claim that blacks are 2.5 times more likely to be shot by police while unarmed because of course the correct comparison is not the demographic 13% but the almost 50% that blacks commit in violent crimes in USA and the 53% of murders blacks commit in USA which naturally lead to more cases of police trying to arrest them for serious crimes and thereby more possibilities to get shot since the black criminals have no respect for police and have been brainwashed to hate police with steady diet of trap music and gangs, drug dealers, drug dealing and going to prison glorifying rap music and media lying for years and years that police are out to kill blacks.

I have no doubt that if Trump wins the Democrat loving media and Democrats will try to instigate a civil war in USA after Democrats and media have spent months LYING and trying to instigate such anger that it causes riots, looting and arson and attacks against police with some help from Democrats brownshirts aka Antifa and the extremist elements in BLM who was founded by self-confessed “TRAINED MARXISTS” (video on Youtube if Google has not yet scrubbed it from existence) aka communists who have visited Venezuela and said marxist/communist dictator Maduro killing his own people by starvation and political persecution is just a great guy and posed in smiling pictures with him and then said in leftists conferences in USA that capitalism must be destroyed in USA.

If there is hell then many Democrats and many media reporters have one way ticket there when they die of old age (still bitter that Trump was once elected president) for the riots, looting, arson and murders of police they have instigated with their “news” in addition to the beatings of people trying to defend their stores and the yelling and spitting directed at people out to eat at a restaurant by BLM and Antifa thugs who are all released without charges in those places where George Soros was successful in electing extreme-leftist and pro-criminal District Attorney’s by spending 17 million in total with many extreme-leftist D.A. hopefuls getting over 500k of Soros supported organizations money when previously D.A. races were run with budgets of few 10k’s.

This whole Roe vs. Wade thing is a ridiculous red herring.
Roe vs. Wade is the law of the land, having been already decided by the court.
It is not up to the court to overturn its own previous decision, but rather would require a Constitutional Amendment to do so.
Anyone using that logic to deny this woman a seat on the Supreme Court is being disingenuous, at best.

Well…gay sex being illegal was the Law Of The Land.

Until it wasn’t.

Here in Massachusetts, RomneyCare is still the Law Of The Land and you are taxed a penalty if you don’t buy insurance which has very little to do with healthcare.

Massachusetts Income tax for is 2 pages long. The next 4 pages are to fill out your proof of insurance. The proof of insurance form says “Hea;thcare”. That’s wrong. It’s propaganda. Because insurance is NOT healthcare. It’s insurance. Anyways, in other words, 2/3rd’s of a 6 page State Income tax form is to prove you have insurance and if you don’t you owe a penalty. That’s political malpractice.

Because insurance isn’t healthcare. It’s insurance.

And because Dems #1 priority was to defeat MedicareForAll, I still have to deal with RomneyCare = Dick NixonCare = Bob DoleCare = ObamaCare.

And people think Obama wasn’t an ultra right wing Republican. Too funny.

Well…not all people. Glenn Ford at Black Agenda Report correctly called out Obama as right wing before about everyone else.

That is just false on it’s face. The court does not LIKE to change precedent it set itself for the very reasons you say, but that does not mean they cannot. Not only that but they can water down their own decision on Roe by allowing state laws to pass that will in effect overturn Roe in the state level.

Still, Roe is not the largest concern for the right, they never cared much about that except as a tool to hook religious right nuts into their orbit. Promise the right things like second amendment hysteria, ending Obamacare, use scare tactics to keep the idiots in line, because the 1%’ers that run the GOP do not want to pay taxes have never had to abide by any of the laws of the nation, they want abortions? They can fly to a place outside the US where it is legal, or fly in a doctor that will do the proceedure on private property. They want decent medical care? They can afford their own Cadillac care without any national care plan. And who would pay for socialized care? Why those that have money are the ones that have to pay for stuff like this, the extreme wealthy 1%.

You think people like the Trumps, or Epstein, or the DeVos or Bush family ever worried about how politics affected their own personal lives and fortunes? No, other than they did not want to pay taxes at all. Betsy just needs an 11th yacht and screw the people.

They can barely be called Americans at all, they are in fact members of a larger club of international billionaires that owe no alegience and abide by no nation’s laws.

The entire fight over the years over the make up of the SCOTUS was never about rights at all but about cementing power. They got so close but always just missed getting an outright majority till now.

We are now on borrowed time.

The court could effectively overrule Roe v. Wade without actually doing so. All they need to do is to determine that science shows that the unborn fetus is alive, and then afford it Constitutional rights. No one supports a parent killing a six month old child, even though that six month old can be an inconvenience. Why not? Because we all accept that the six month old is a person, and has a right to live.

Once upon a time, I was pro-choice. That was before I had children. Watching my two boys in the womb, via ultrasound, they behaved very, very differently. That behavior difference carried over into how they behaved after then were born, and even now, with both boys in the twenties, that difference persists. I firmly believe that they were, in fact, alive, and people, even before they were officially born.

We can all agree with two general principles:

  1. People have a right to do anything they choose with their own body, so long as it has no negative impact on another person
  2. No one has a right to kill another person for their own convenience

This is where it becomes tricky, however, and where reasonable people can differ. At what point does a fetus become alive? At conception? At birth? Given that no one has memories from when they were before about 2, one could even argue that the don’t really become “people” until age 2, I suppose.

Based on my observation of my own boys, I firmly believe that they “became a person” at some point at least a few months prior to birth. Therefore I absolutely oppose late-term abortions, and and truly appalled by the abortions done at the very last minute, where they kill the fetus moments before birth.

Yes, I’m aware of that, however, in an increasingly secular world, that isn’t going to convince anyone, any more than a citation to the Koran would, or a citation to the principles of Jainism. (Christianity is far from the only religion that opposes abortion.) What will convince people, in time, is science, and science is on the side that the fetus is a living organism. The ultrasound is the most visible example, but there are studies that show that the fetus can feel pain, and if there are any studies that show that they are an inanimate non-sensory lump of flesh, I am unaware of them.

Roe v. Wade has in fact already been mostly gutted through a back-door approach in the state legislatures.

Big money, Koch brothers money (and that of others like them)….has been successful in stacking most of the southern state legislatures with pro-life conservatives several years back…..

And the abortion clinics (many of which provided a whole litany of valuable women’s health services at low or no cost to poor women)…….have already been regulated out of business forever using a variety of strategies.

.Nevertheless. a strong coalition of religious folks, made up of Catholics and Evangelicals, continue to push for a final nail in the coffin to reverse Roe completely and end choice for poor women.

It won’t stop abortions in places like my neighborhood, where the affluent teenagers still get abortions at rates that might shock the typical church lady….but hey….it’s different when it’s your kid, and she’s headed to the debutante balls and the university.

It isn’t a coincidence that here in Texas, Catholics and Evangelicals together constitute exactly 51% of the voting public. And on abortion they work in lockstep these days. That was not always so.

This appointment of Barrett is about walking back Roe. Make no mistake,

Trump is tweeting about appointing a woman. But Barrett is a woman in the same sense that Clarence Thomas is an African-American…..there is another descriptor that applies here.

They’re both Catholic.

And even though she is considered liberal, Sonia Sotomayor is also Catholic.

Chief Justice Roberts is Catholic.

Samuel Alito is Catholic.

Brett Kavanaugh is Catholic.

Neil Gorsuch is Catholic, although he attends services with his wife at an Episcopal Church.

Every one of these justices, regardless of their scholarship, training, brilliance…..whatever…..was selected to serve…..based at least partly on the assumption that because they’re Catholic they might be willing and able at some point to overturn Roe v. Wade.

So the Supreme Court of the US is about to have its seventh Catholic appointed to the bench.

Now…you might think I have some axe to grind against Catholics….but I don’t.

But I do have an axe to grind against not calling this what it is…which is a serious issue of the separation of Church and State.

For those of you really conservative folks who think this 7th Catholic on the SCOTUS would be just great ………ask yourself the following question.

How would you feel with seven out of nine Muslims on the highest court in the land?

How would you feel about seven out of nine Jewish justices?

One parting shot here, and I have to go……but let me mention one other thing that is being completely missed by conservatives when they sacrifice Roe to Christian Righteousness.

In the 1970’s and 1980′ crime was growing so fast in this country that “tough on crime” was the one platform plank almost guaranteed to get you elected to high office. Both parties ran on it. Crime was growing out of control and nobody had a clue what to do about it.

And then…..just like that….it started to fall….in about 1990….EXACTLY 18 years after Roe made it possible for poor women to make a choice about not giving birth to kids they didn’t want and had no means to support.

And in spite of all the viral videos on YouTube, and all the protests and the riots….it’s still quite low.

But it isn’t going to stay that way….because the pendulum has already started to swing..and in a few years, crime really will be a problem….and if you think that is not going to drive this racial strife a lot higher than it already is?

Keep dreaming.

Correlation is not causation.

There are no conservative and liberal justices, just different approaches to the law (originalism etc) its naive to think these approaches are closely aligned with political ideologies that also shift.

Its not worth being worried about the court. All these judges are decent people who are passionate about their vocation. They take their responsibility seriously and I’m grateful for that.

Nobody will overturn a major ruling without a big shift in public perception or impact. The court will protect its own survival.

There have been 10 cases in US history where a Supreme Court vacancy has come in the last year of the president’s term and the Senate has been in the other party’s control and in 9 out of those 10 cases the Supreme Court vacancy has NOT been filled until after the election and new president/Senate have been elected and taken their positions.

There have been 25+ cases in US history where Supreme Court vacancy has come in the last year of the president’s term and the Senate has been controlled by the same party as the presidency and in all but 2 of those cases the Supreme Court vacancy has been filled in the last year.

It is insane that most people do not know any history and it is even worse that media constantly lies to people and misleads people and creates an outrage based on lies and then claims this outrage threatens Democracy.

The biggest cause of people losing faith in Democracy is the media.

If there was a Democrat president now and Democrats controlled Senate and RBG had died on November 1st the Democrat president would have nominated and the Democrat Senate would have confirmed the Supreme Court justice on November 2nd and media would have cheered this as a “decisive” show of the presidents leadership qualities in the middle of the campaign.

I agree. The democrats would do the same thing in a heartbeat. Merrick Garland was the only exception and it was ugly – they should have at least brought the vote and had him lose the nom legitimately. But its done and over with.

Trump doesn’t have strategy he has tactics. And each time he feels like he’s behind he throws meat to the base. He always doubles down on that same base. If Trump were a strategist he would have selected Barbara Lagoa who would have helped him win Florida a key state for Trump. He didn’t do that.

Everyone said Trump would pick Lagoa because it was good strategy. That’s why I knew he would not. The pick would have helped him with Hispanic voters in Florida a group he could use and is open to him. He’s polling better with them vs 2016 but Biden will still get the majority. 3-d chess? hardly.

One observation about Lindsey Graham:

He made those statements BEFORE the Kavanaugh confirmation to Supreme Court where Democrats tried to stop and character assassinate and totally destroy Kavanaugh with the BS said by that Blasey Ford character.

She did not remember any details and had no corroboration and no contemporary witnesses and not even people who she had told her story sometime in her life but made claims Kavanaugh had tried to do something to her.

Then when she did not seem to be enough to stop Kavanaugh Democrats dredged up the Julie Swetnick character to go on media tour and she claimed she participated in parties where Kavanaugh and his buddies were running rape trains.

Democrats are totally unhinged as a party and have no ethics whatsoever.

Maybe this time we will see claims from Democrat women that Amy Barrett is a lesbian and raped some Democrat woman in college…

The speech Lindsey Graham made in the Kavanaugh hearings is the best of his career and if he makes a similar speech in this case then Lindsey Graham will be re-elected.

We will not see any accusations from anyone because there will be no real hearings at all, just as the GOP held an impeachment “trial” of Trump in the senate on abuse of power charges and no witnesses were called, itself an abuse of power. The senate makes up it’s own rules and can decide to advise and consent in any way they like including a straight up or down vote by a simple majority. Oh the right thinks we forgot, we haven’t.

However hyper partisan decisions that will affect the nation deeply for decades to come will not go unanswered, and the left is simply not going to stand for the right cheating it’s way into monolithic power, I say this will break the nation and if you do not believe me just watch. All they have done is make the word hypocricy meaningless, and two can play that game. I say the blue holds the key to the future, they can throw down the gaunlet and simply walk away, and the right can’t do squat about it. They may have 26 rural red states in their hip pocket and the disproportionate power that goes with underrepresentation in urban blue states in the US House and electoral college, but they are also empty farmland with a fraction of the population and industry of the blue states. They only thing that gives them any power is the pretense that the USA is still a nation undivided. Putin and Trump and the partisans of the GOP have ended that and it is now only a matter of time till the nation spirals into the abyss. Those big empty rural red states will not be able to maintain independence long if the blue states say they have had enough and leave.

Trump is NOT intelligent enough to play 4-D chess.

Trump had Republican controlled House and Senate for 2 years but still let Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to talk him out of getting the funding for the wall and then started really trying to build the wall after Democrats had won the house because Ann Coulter blasted Trump bad enough for not building a mile that he unsubscribed Ann Coulter’s twitter account.

Now Trump has made 200+ miles of wall with the 1.3 billion Democrats have given him in 2019 and 2020 and the money Trump got from seized funds and from military budget and Trump promises to have 450 miles by year end.

Trump’s inspiration to talk about illegal immigration was Ann Coulter’s book “Adios America” that Coulter Fedexed to Trump before publication after she was asked to send it when Trump saw her on TV talking about illegal immigration.

Later the immigration policies of Trump campaign were mostly written by Ann Coulter until Sessions endorsed Trump and Stephen Miller the Sessions top-advisor became Trump’s top advisor.

I hope Trump wins because of the policies he has tried to do but Trump is NO 4-D chess player.

Joe Biden is deteriorating every day and seems to have dementia or other serious cognitive problems based on saying Arizona is a city, saying one day that 200 million Americans have died from Covid and then another day saying 200 Americans have died from Covid and having to read his responses to journalists from teleprompter after his staff has asked for the questions in advance and then written the answers for Joe Biden and he still can not get things right and is talking gibberish and “come on man”ning journalists.

Joe Biden promised amnesty and US citizenship to all illegal immigrants in USA in august.
There are currently 29.5 million illegal immigrants in USA according to MIT-Yale study from 2018.
If Biden gets elected and does that amnesty there will be massive new demand from those 29.5 million for SNAP-EBT, Section-8 housing, federal tax credits, state welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security etc. either leading to cuts in all of those programs or more debt in massive amounts.

Also the amnesty will attract tens of millions more illegal immigrants to USA to wait for the next amnesty just like Reagan’s 1986 amnesty for about 5 million illegal immigrants attracted the current 29.5 million to USA together with both Republicans (pre-Trump) and Democrats not wanting to stop illegal immigration but instead talking about what the terms of the amnesty should be and calling it “comprehensive immigration reform”.

Those tens of millions new illegal immigrants attracted by Biden’s amnesty will lower/stagnate wages for working class Americans even worse than the current 29.5 million illegal immigrants have lowered/stagnated working class Americans wages for tens of years while robbing jobs from Americans by creating work places in California and in other states with large amounts of illegal immigrants where Americans including black Americans have been fired and replaced with illegal immigrants because once a company starts taking new recruits that only speak spanish fluently this leads to the workplace not being efficient if there are American employees only speaking english.

It is surreal being in a 5-star hotels in California and realizing all the kitchen, all the wait staff and all the cleaners are illegal immigrants speaking either no english or very rudimentary english and then seeing homeless black Americans and homeless white Americans in the streets.

Also the California manufacturing sector is largely powered by illegal immigrants and if there was not “allow illegal immigration” as policy these manufacturers would have had to move their operations to middle America to get cheaper workers and/or raise wages which would have stopped the desperation in many American homes created by offshoring lots of production to China from USA which led to joblessness and desperation especially in middle America and which led to drug use and destruction of communities.

The lowest ever unemployment numbers before Covid for American blacks, latinos, women and whites with only high school education were caused largely by Trump slowing the illegal immigration and wage growth was fast in low income jobs largely because of the same reason.
The opportunity zone law by Trump written by Tim Scott also helped to create jobs in underprivileged communities.

I hope Trump gets a second term and keeps all the promises related to immigration he has made including building the wall and stopping the birthright citizenship scam started by bureaucrats interpreting 14th amendment totally idiotically and raising the H1B wage limit from 70k to 250k so that Americans in IT/tech/STEM are no longer replaced with 70k earning Indians so the bosses can get their bonuses.

If Trump could push through school choice that he talks about in his 2nd term the 20+ schools in Baltimore where NOT ONE student reads/writes and does math at the minimum required level would have NO students and the teachers unions would have to start to allow those teachers to be fired that do not have EVEN ONE student in their class reading/writing and doing math at a proficient level.

Thanks to President Roosevelt there is already “Roosevelt Reservation” on the border with Mexico in California, Arizona and New Mexico.

From wikipedia:
“The Roosevelt Reservation is the 60-foot (18 m)-wide strip of land owned by the United States Federal Government along the United States side of the United States–Mexico Border in three of the four border states.”

So there is NO land issues in those states and there should be 30 foot wall on the whole border in all those states already IF Trump had not been made to look at shiny objects his first two years by Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell when Republicans had House and Senate.

The only state with land issues is Texas and in Texas Trump should have ordered the land on the border taken with eminent domain when he came into power and it would have been completed by now.

However Trump has been sabotaged the whole 1st term by career bureaucrats and Obama holdovers at all levels because Trump allowed Jared Kushner to throw all Chris Christie’s personnel work and personnel recommendations in the trash because Jared had a grudge against Christie because Christie had locked up his dad so Trump started being President with Obama holdovers in many positions because Jared thought he was so smart and knew better and then Trump picked people in positions that kissed his ass better than the other candidates for the job because Trump for some inexplicable reason thinks he knows how to pick staff due to too many seasons of the Apprentice and this caused instances like globalist and war-monger and one of the architects of the totally idiotic “win hearts and minds” strategy that had American soldiers walking around in villages in Afghanistan and Iraq like sitting ducks and getting killed and maimed for nothing by the thousands James Mattis getting selected to be the Secretary of Defense because Mattis had once said some strong words in a speech and because his nickname was Mad-dog (in reality liberal pooch would be more fitting).

This led to John Kelly becoming Secretary of Homeland Security because he was a general and doing nothing to improve border security but still getting lots of praises from Trump when Kelly had done NOTHING and the flow of illegal immigrants had stopped because of Trump’s tough talk and not any action and then Trump promoted Kelly to Chief of Staff and picked as new Secretary of Homeland Security Kirtsjen Nielsen who thought it would be a good idea if USA paid and aired spanish language radio ads in local radios in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua telling people that they should NOT come to US border unless they were in danger and persecuted and Kirstjen Nielsen was such an incompetent idiot she thought this would keep people away when in reality it advertised going to US border and put the idea in people’s heads and even informed them what to say to get through the “credible fear” test that USA uses because some bureaucrat made it up ages ago before taking their asylum applications namely that they were threatened and persecuted in their home country.

In reality based on current US law and Geneva Convention USA should NOT take EVEN one asylum application on their border with Mexico or inside USA from people that came through Mexico since Geneva Convention mandates countries to take asylum applications ONLY if the person trying to leave an asylum application comes DIRECTLY from the country where they were persecuted so based on Geneva Convention all coming through Mexico could be stopped at the border or returned to Mexico if found inside USA and told to ask for asylum from Mexico.

Current US law allows Attorney General to decide when to not take asylum applications and remove people who try to ask for asylum from USA provided there is a bilateral or multilateral agreement and lucky for AG Barr Geneva Convention is a multilateral agreement so AG Barr could issue an order TODAY that no more asylum applications are accepted at US border or inside USA and instead people are stopped at the border and told to apply asylum from Mexican government or removed from USA and returned to Mexico and told to ask for asylum from Mexican government and the law in question specifically states that there is NO JUDICIAL REVIEW available for this AG decision so no Democrat nominated judges putting injunctions can stop this if AG would just do it.

Instead of doing that Trump has tried everything else like fine tuning the “credible fear” hurdle which is USA’s own bureaucracy or making ports of entry throttle the number of asylum seekers they accept per day or making all asylum seekers wait for the decision in Mexico instead of inside USA with a legal right to work given by the asylum application which was a major pull factor or stopping all entrances to USA due to Covid in name but still having US border patrol bring to USA everybody with Covid symptoms for treatment or getting Mexico to send troops to their southern border to stop people from coming to Mexico in the first place so they do not reach USA or having Mexico send thousands of soldiers on their border with USA to stop migrants on the Mexican side before they reach USA, having return agreements with Guatemala and Honduras and El Salvador and Nicaragua for many illegal immigrants etc.

These are all achievements but small ones.

Trump should order AG Barr to simply order that authorities STOP taking asylum applications at the border or inside USA and just stop people at the border or return everyone trying to ask for asylum to Mexico and the flow of illegal migrants and bogus asylum seekers would slow to a trickle in months and that would end the smuggling/coyote business and it would end any of the women trying to reach USA getting raped on the way through Mexico like happens to most now and Mexico might be angry at first but then realize that since one can no longer get through Mexico to USA they do NOT even come to Mexico at all.

Here is the US law:

8 U.S. Code § 1158 – Asylum
U.S. Code

(a)Authority to apply for asylum

(1)In general
Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien’s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title.

(2)Exceptions
(A)Safe third country
Paragraph (1) shall not apply to an alien if the Attorney General determines that the alien may be removed, pursuant to a bilateral or multilateral agreement, to a country (other than the country of the alien’s nationality or, in the case of an alien having no nationality, the country of the alien’s last habitual residence) in which the alien’s life or freedom would not be threatened on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion, and where the alien would have access to a full and fair procedure for determining a claim to asylum or equivalent temporary protection, unless the Attorney General finds that it is in the public interest for the alien to receive asylum in the United States.

(3)Limitation on judicial review
No court shall have jurisdiction to review any determination of the Attorney General under paragraph (2).

It is sad that you can not distinguish original thoughts.

Fox has NEVER even mentioned that according multilateral agreement called the Geneva Convention countries have to only take asylum applications on their border or inside the country in cases where the one trying to leave the asylum application comes DIRECTLY from the country they are persecuted or claim to be persecuted thereby on Geneva Convention rules USA should NOT take any asylum applications from people coming thru Mexico.

Fox has NEVER mentioned that under current law US Attorney General can just order US authorities to STOP taking asylum applications at the border or inside USA when people are coming through SAFE third country like Mexico since multilateral agreement called Geneva Convention is OK with this and Mexico is a signatory to Geneva Convention.
And all this WITHOUT JUDICIAL REVIEW.

So if Barr would wake up there could be from now on ZERO asylum seekers and illegal immigrants abusing the asylum system coming to USA and human smuggling/coyotes would lose their business and people would stay in their home countries once hearing that USA returns everyone back to Mexico and tells the people to make their asylum application in Mexico.

Actually, if the American government were interested in doing somthing about illegals, they would go after employers who did not use E-verify before hiring them. That would align all the incentives and things would largely take care of themselves.

FactsonJoe

True.
Mandatory e-verify for all employers would fix most of the illegal immigration problem and Trump originally promised mandatory for all employers but this has not been achieved yet.
E-verify has now been made mandatory for all companies doing work/projects for federal government and that is a start.
Also many states have mandatory e-verify for all companies doing work/projects for the states.

The problem with mandatory E-verify for all employers is that if it is put in place at the same time everywhere it will spike up crime and there needs to be enough government personnel to enforce it.

Best way to create mandatory e-verify would do ass follows:
1.
First put mandatory e-verify on all Republican controlled states for new workers to stop any movement of illegal immigrants to those states.
2.
Then put mandatory e-verify on all Republican controlled states for existing workers with 6 month rollout so the companies which have illegal immigrant workers have time to find American employees to replace the illegal immigrants and the illegal immigrants have time to either leave back to their home country (minority would do so) or move to a Democrat controlled state (majority would do so).
3.
Then when the Democrat controlled states will be in a cash crunch and totally broke when the illegal immigrants have all moved there and use a lot of services paid by the states impose a mandatory e-verify for all new workers federally to stop new illegal immigrants from getting jobs and and have a longer rollout like 12-18 months for mandatory e-verify on all existing workers federally (12 months to make it mandatory and 18 months to start slamming companies with 100k fines for each illegal immigrant worker) during this 12 months negotiate quickly with the Democrat controlled states a package where they stop all of their Sanctuary state/city policies and work with ICE to DEPORT illegal immigrant criminals and illegal immigrant gang members in return for some money from Federal government to plug their budget deficits so that once the mandatory e-verify for all existing workers starts there will not be so many illegal immigrant criminals and gang members in those states anymore to start trouble and then start a 1000 dollars per person “moving back to your home country” program for existing illegal immigrants once 12 months are up and publicize that there is just 6 months left for companies to start getting 100k fines per illegal immigrant worker and start enforcement actions at the 12 month mark so as many as possible will leave after 12 months are up and most employers will start to look for American workers to replace their illegal immigrant workers during this 6 months they have until 100k fines kick in and during this 6 months have lots of enforcement actions where all illegal immigrant workers are rounded up and deported so many companies will lose all of their illegal immigrant workers and their operations will be disrupted so other companies look at that and think better move quickly before that happens to them and have everything done before the additional 6 months is up and companies start getting hit with 100k fines for each illegal immigrant worker.

Barrett wrote earlier that since Vatican and Catholic Court are against the death penalty that catholic judges should recuse themselves in those cases and she would recuse herself.

I hope that was just youthful dumbness because if Barrett really takes instructions from the Vatican and Catholic church which are pro illegal immigration and even ordered US catholic churches to hide illegal immigrants from US authorities then Barrett might be like RBG on immigration.

Vatican and Catholic Church want all illegal immigrants to stay in USA, all asylum seekers to get asylum,to bring as many refugees to USA as possible, stop all deportations, are against walls and immigration controls of any kind and Pope washes the feet of illegal immigrants in Italy and elsewhere and Catholic Church funds “rescue” ships in the Mediterranean Sea that communicate with and work together with people smugglers and pick up boats/dinghies full of Africans wanting to get to Europe from near the Libyan coast and then give them a ride to Italy.

Except she says she’d recuse herself. On an issue that the church is opposed to her party. Will she refuse herself on an issue where the church is aligned with her party (like abortion rights)? It doesn’t sound like she is valuing morality, so much as she is unable to make legal arguments independently of her handlers conflicting positions.
