I do not use the word Gestapo lightly. Let’s discuss the charge.
Just Do It
Team trump set deportation quotas which kicked off the riots.
After deportations fell short of campaign promises, federal agents were told to ‘just go out there and arrest illegal aliens’.
Please read this in entirety. The White House Marching Orders That Sparked the L.A. Migrant Crackdown
Even with the high-profile arrests of suspects by masked immigration agents and the plane loads of migrants swiftly ferried out of the U.S., President Trump was falling short of the number of daily deportations carried out by the Biden administration in its final year.
So in late May, Stephen Miller, a top White House aide and the architect of the president’s immigration agenda, addressed a meeting at the headquarters of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE. The message was clear: The president, who promised to deport millions of immigrants living in the country illegally, wasn’t pleased. The agency had better step it up.
Gang members and violent criminals, what Trump called the “worst of the worst,” weren’t the sole target of deportations. Federal agents needed to “just go out there and arrest illegal aliens,” Miller told top ICE officials, who had come from across the U.S., according to people familiar with the meeting.
Agents didn’t need to develop target lists of immigrants suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, a longstanding practice, Miller said. Instead, he directed them to target Home Depot, where day laborers typically gather for hire, or 7-Eleven convenience stores. Miller bet that he and a handful of agents could go out on the streets of Washington, D.C., and arrest 30 people right away.
“Who here thinks they can do it?” Miller said, asking for a show of hands.
ICE agents appeared to follow Miller’s tip and conducted an immigration sweep Friday at the Home Depot in the predominantly Latino neighborhood of Westlake in Los Angeles, helping set off a weekend of protests around Los Angeles County, including at the federal detention center in the city’s downtown. On Saturday, Trump ordered 2,000 National Guard troops to Southern California, despite objections by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Federal agents make warrantless arrests. Masked agents take people into custody without identifying themselves. Plainclothes agents in at least a dozen cities have arrested migrants who showed up to their court hearings. And across the U.S., people suspected of being in the country illegally are disappearing into the federal detention system without notice to families or lawyers, according to attorneys, witnesses and officials.
In Coral Springs, Fla., at least eight agents in tactical gear, shields and rifles surrounded a home with guns raised to arrest a father with no criminal history. In Irvine, Calif., ICE agents drove a phalanx of military vehicles in the Orange County suburb to arrest a person, though not for illegal immigration. They were seeking a resident’s son who had allegedly posted fliers alerting neighbors to the presence of ICE agents.
“Keeping President Trump’s promise to deport illegal aliens is something the administration takes seriously,” said Abigail Jackson, a White House spokeswoman.
Earlier this year, ICE officials set daily arrest quotas and deputized agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law-enforcement agencies. ICE officials eliminated a Biden-era policy that blocked officers from arresting people without proof of legal residency who happened to be in the vicinity of targeted suspects. Raids at schools, churches and hospitals are now allowed.
Late last month, the top ICE official overseeing arrests and deportations, Kenneth Genalo, resigned rather than fire deputies for poor performance, said people familiar with the matter.
One reason deportations haven’t picked up might be that ICE operations have received so much attention, prompting migrants to be more cautious, according to agents and leaders.
Last kiss
On a recent morning, half a dozen SUVs waited in the dark of a suburban neighborhood in San Antonio. Agents joked over the radio about how easy they were to spot: They had struggled to turn off their automatic headlights, and two neighbors drove around the block, peering into the agents’ windows before returning to their driveways.
Minutes later, their target, a Cuban father who worked at a local candy factory, began loading two young children into a red SUV. The agents initially planned to follow and arrest him after he had dropped the children at school. Instead, they decided to arrest him immediately because the children’s mother was also in the car.
With lights flashing, the SUVs converged on the car. The man stepped from the driver’s seat with his hands up while the woman in the passenger seat scolded the agents for arresting him in front of the children. She asked if she could give her husband a kiss before they took him. None of the agents responded.
The agents next tailed a yellow pickup through a taqueria restaurant drive-through line before arresting the driver. They let him go when he showed a Global Entry card proving he was a U.S. citizen. Agents said they may have confused the man with his son.
At a court in Phoenix last month, attorney Isaac Ortega said prosecutors requested dismissals for a string of cases, including that of his client, a Venezuelan man who had entered the U.S. legally under a Biden administration program terminated by Trump.
After the man left the hearing room, agents arrested him. They refused to identify themselves, answer questions or show a warrant.
Other lawyers say clients have been denied access to legal counsel. Luis Campos, a Tucson-based attorney, said a Border Patrol agent physically blocked him from seeing a woman on the maternity ward who had just given birth. The woman and her family had requested that she have counsel, Campos said. ICE said all laws and procedures were followed.
In some jurisdictions, agents said their supervisors have allowed them to more frequently seek criminal warrants to arrest targets. Administrative warrants are typically used for illegal immigration, which is a civil, not a criminal, violation. Criminal warrants allow agents to break down doors and forcibly enter homes.
Maksim Zaitsev, a 36-year-old Russian citizen with a pending asylum case, said he was beaten by ICE agents after calling for his wife when the agents arrested him during an immigration check-in at an ICE office. “It was like I was in a washing machine,” Zaitsev said in an interview from a detention facility in Adelanto, Calif.
Photographs in court filings show Zaitsev with bruises and scabs on his face. Zaitsev was charged for biting an officer, but a federal judge dismissed the assault case, citing government misconduct. Zaitsev said it was self-defense.
“We came to the United States for protection because of what we encountered in Russia,” he said. “It seems that we are encountering here what we fled.”
Blame Trump More than Newsom
The preponderance of blame for the LA riots goes to the Trump administration for its purposely heavy-handed tactics.
That does not excuse Governor Newsom. Nor do I support riots or destruction of property.
Newsom is not faultless, something I have stated. He should aggressively arrest rioters, publicly say he will do that, and ask for calm.
Two wrongs are two wrongs.
Powerful National Unions Break Against Trump’s Actions in Los Angeles
Yesterday, I commented Powerful National Unions Break Against Trump’s Actions in Los Angeles
Trump was itching for a fight, and got it, but he may not like the result.
Going after hard-working immigrants who have been here for years is certain economic idiocy. It’ s political idiocy too, but perhaps not initially.
I applaud Maddisen Arguijo, a 34 year-old flight attendant who said “Immigrants in Los Angeles do essential work that we need, that we cannot do without. To pretend like that is not the truth of the matter and demoralize them and act like they are criminals and all these insane things that are being said in the media, it’s a fallacy.”
Economic fools and bigots want to deport them all. Construction work would stall, crops would rot in the fields, and hotels would run out of cleaning staff.
That is on top of the costs to round everyone, hold them, them deport them.
And have any of these fools looked at the massive wave of aging boomers retiring every day?
The bigots don’t give a damn. The fools applaud because they are fools. But they will all complain when labor shortages cause a huge surge in inflation.
Q&A and Reader Comments
Reader: How would you have handled the “mostly peaceful” riots in LA, Mish???
Mish: Don’t you just love it when people put words in your mouth you never said. I never used the term “mostly peaceful”.
My position is clear. I have blamed both sides. Today’s story shows the preponderance of the blame goes to Trump.
I responded to the question with “I would arrest rioters. I said Both Trump and Newsom made mistakes. Fools only see one side or the other.”
Reader: How do the brainiacs in the Trump administration propose to deport 1 million undocumented people in a city of 4 million people? This is going to get very very ugly.
Mish: Different sources offer slightly different estimates, but the overall consensus is that California has the largest undocumented immigrant population in the U.S., ranging from 1.85 million to 2.6 million. In 2023, an estimated 810,000 undocumented immigrants resided in Los Angeles County, according to the Los Angeles County’s website.
So one million in LA is a slight exaggeration, but the line of questioning is valid. If carried out, the deportations would crash the California economy and much construction and agriculture in general.
There are no brainiacs in this administration.
Reader: If you are applauding Maddisen Arguijo’s conflating illegal and legal immigrants then you are promoting the mentality that is the underlying cause of the problems we have in this area. Economic fools? All of these jobs and more were being done before the inundation of illegals – in many cases probably better. How can anyone cherry pick moral positions and economic/political positions like this? So much self-contradictory stuff that I’m tired of this blog frankly.
Mish: For starters the total number of unemployed in the US is 7 million. All of the construction, farm, hotel, and fast food jobs were not done by US citizens before the immigration surge. One of the reasons they came was jobs were available. And better? Seriously? What an ignorant comment.
As for morality. Biden welcomed a huge percentage of these immigrants. I disagreed with that policy. But many of them were here legally and now because of Trump’s Executive Orders are not.
The moral and economic case is clear for those who have been here for years, working jobs, paying taxes, raising families, and contributing to the economy. Most of them work harder because under fear of deportation, they have to.
I present a clear position that frequently offends everyone but Libertarians. I do so because unlike the Left cult and the Right cult, I take a principled stand.
My blog is only self-contradictory to economic illiterates and those with TDS who worship everything Trump says no matter how obvious his lies or contradictions.
I could easily increase readership by constantly praising Trump or making excuses for him when he makes no sense at all. I choose not to.
For those who want MAGA cheerleading, there are plenty of places to find it.
Reader: Hello, may I see your “Proof” of Citizenship Please? I don’t have one. You’re under arrest. Seems pretty simple to me.
Mish: What happens if everyone gets arrested. Will everyone have proof of citizenship? Even one percent? Oh, wait, I get it, bigot. Arrest them if they don’t look White. But what do we do about Haitians and Nigerians? Well OK, let’s require Blacks to carry proof of citizenship too. Skin color makes it “pretty simple”, doesn’t it?
Reader: [Citing my comment “Hotels would run out of cleaning staff”] That mentality is the problem. If you pay people enough, you can get them to work any job in this country. That’s how a market economy is supposed to work.
Mish: Great, I see we have another new convert to bring all the manufacturing to the US no matter what it costs, and make sure they are all white too. “That’s how an economy is supposed to work” if it’s run by fools and bigots.
If you want a bidding war for skilled labor, then deport all the skilled construction workers, other skilled trade workers (many of whom have been here for years, even decades), and tell those on disability to get off their fat ass and onto a roof in the desert sun laying tiles or picking crops.
Yes, that will do wonders if you are short long-term treasuries or are a bigot who doesn’t give a damn.
The amusing irony in the above economically illiterate reader comment is that it is primarily market forces that drove illegal immigration. But free services also play a role. As I have pointed out, free government services and open borders are incompatible.
Reader: Mike of all the things that you have written, this is one I disagree with the most. Citing the WSJ and NYT is beyond silly. These pro-immigration papers are simply biased. And how does one conclude, “Going after hard-working immigrants who have been here for years is certain economic idiocy. It’ s political idiocy too, but perhaps not initially.” So, there are no criminal aliens being deported, just hard-working immigrations? How do you know that? In point of fact there are plenty of criminal aliens being deported. Talk to an ICE agent on the ground and you will find out just the type of thugs who are being deported.
Mish: Opps. The above reader was not aware of the lead article before writing “Talk to an ICE agent on the ground and you will find out just the type of thugs who are being deported.“
Also, this reader does what many do, make an ad hominem attacks based on the source, in this case also the WSJ. If all you can do is attack the source, you have no attack.
His comment is mixed with strawman insinuations and questions like “So, there are no criminal aliens being deported, just hard-working immigrations? How do you know that?”
I never said, that, did I?
In contrast, the above reader implied, incorrectly, that ICE was targeting criminals.
“Talk to an ICE agent on the ground and you will find out just the type of thugs who are being deported,” is amusing and ironic for another reason.
Notice how quickly people will believe sources who say what they want to hear. Of course ICE will trump up criminal deportations while not mentioning quotas and “Just go out there and do it” quotas and orders.
Finally, I stand by my economic comments. This reader wants proof of them, while offering no proof of his own.
My position is logical. His isn’t. We have 7 million unemployed. There are 31.6 million foreign born employees. Some of them are legal, and some of them now citizens. Unfortunately there is no breakdown by legality.
Assume all but 7 million of the 31.6 million are legal. We still have an enormous skilled labor shortage don’t we? Most of the unemployed have no skills in construction and they won’t pick crops.
These economic comments do not even dive into the morality issue of breaking up families, deporting those who were legal under Biden but aren’t now because of executive orders.
Cheering the Gestapo
I support targeting criminals for deportation. However, it’s not a “crime” to cross the border illegally except in certain limited situations.
That it’s not a crime just to be here is what allows Gestapo tactics by the Administration.
I do not use the word Gestapo lightly, but masked men march into businesses, detain those who do not look White enough, break up families including those where one spouse is a citizen, and in general do not give a damn about legalities.
The irony is that ICE gets away with Gestapo tactics because “being here” is a generally a civil violation, not a criminal violation.
If “being here” was a criminal charge, ICE would be required to read the Miranda act; The accused would have right to a lawyer, and no one would be transported to other states and detained indefinitely, possibly years, with no counsel or outside contact.
Those rounded up are assumed guilty, even if they were legally admitted by Biden simply because of their non-Whiteness or tattoos (while making excuses for Hegseth’s tattoos), then transported like cattle to states that don’t give a damn about any rights the immigrants do have.
It is not their fault Biden did what he did. Thus, I support a legal challenge to these roundups for those legally here under Biden rules. I think it may be a winning case.
Regardless, on top of being economically stupid, it’s morally disgusting that criminals are treated better than ICE treats those hounded for just being here.
Finally, some of them are deported, by mistake, not even to the country they came from. MAGA cheers that too.
MAGA cheers the Gestapo. Sadly, there is no better word.
Addendum: Mish’s Rule of Sources
Mish’s Rule of Sources: People will believe any fool accusation if it supports their view. But people want named sources when for obvious reasons they can’t be listed, even in cases where it’s obvious the source is likely true.
Addendum: What Should Trump Do?
Reader Mark commented, “Perhaps there is a better way to handle the current position but I’ve not heard it really articulated. All I hear is claims of inhumanity and Trump is always wrong.“
I have repeatedly stated many times what needs to be done.
The massive irony is so has Trump.
The Softer Side of Trump
On November, 11. 2014, the Wall Street Journal discussed Trump’s Mass Deportation Promise
Speaking Monday on Fox News, Mr. Homan said the priority will be “public-safety threats and national-security threats,” as well as migrants who “had due process” and “their federal judge said ‘you must go home,’ and they didn’t.”
Good to hear, and add what Mr. Homan told “60 Minutes” last month. “It’s not going to be a mass sweep of neighborhoods,” he said.
Instead he said Mr. Trump’s plan would involve “targeted arrests,” and eventually “worksite enforcement operations.” If officers making an arrest also find an undocumented grandma in the house, will they detain her? “It depends,” Mr. Homan said. “Let the judge decide.”
Some of Mr. Trump’s advisers, including Mr. Miller, have talked about mass deportation in sweeping terms. But enforcement priorities are up to the President, and Mr. Trump has suggested he isn’t interested in illegal grandmothers.
“We have a lot of good people in this country, and we have to do something about it,” Mr. Trump said. “This has been going on for a long time. It’s a complicated subject.” He declined to specify whom he’d deport: “I don’t want to go too much into clarification, because the nicer I become, the more people that come over illegally.” Yet after stringent talk about deterrence, he ended with nuance: “There are some human questions that get in the way of being perfect, and we have to have the heart, too.”
Honan told 60 minutes that Mr. Trump’s plan would involve “targeted arrests.”
Trump actually said in an interview with the WSJ “We have a lot of good people in this country, and we have to do something about it. There are some human questions that get in the way of being perfect, and we have to have the heart, too.”
And in December …
Trump said in a recent interview with NBC, that he wanted to work with Democrats to come up with legislation to protect Dreamers, immigrants in the U.S. illegally who were brought as children, from deportation.
However, backers of hard-line immigration policies view an exemption for Dreamers, who often have bipartisan support, as a slippery slope.
In my post Trump’s Inconsistent Positions on Deport them All, What Should He Do? I commented …
A sensible plan is to deport the criminals, shut the border, improve the legal process, give priority to parents and spouses of US citizens, give priority to those here the longest, and give priority to those working.
A Deal for Dreamers
We need a Congressional deal that guarantees the rights of dreamers who have been in the US for a long time and are productive members of the US.
Consideration also applies to those whose spouses are US citizens, and those with citizen children.
It is economically stupid and morally unjust to not work out such a deal.
But here we are, instead skidding towards an arrest of a sitting governor in a confrontation aggravated by Trump and Newsom, perhaps purposely by both of them.
So Dear Readers
So dear readers, please don’t tell me no one has proposed a sensible plan, when Trump himself did, including a deal with Dreamers.
Instead, and as encouraged by Stephen Miller, Trump elected to throw red meat to a pack of howling hyenas with Gestapo tactics.

“Mish, I’ve followed you for at least 10 years. Your posts as of the last year or two seem to take positions designed to provoke an incendiary response… perhaps to gain a greater following. You subsequent responses to you readers appear to lack humility. I have appreciated your brilliant economic insights over the years. Thank you. Unfortunately I am finding it increasingly difficult to continue following the blog. Craig”
I called this a Gestapo action because it is obvious that’s what it is.
As for replying to readers, I am sick of people repeating economically illiterate things that I have already refuted.
Denninger, ZeroHege, and WolfStreet would immediately ban people for some of the statements made to me. I allow more dissent, including yours, than nearly any blog.
Your accusation is ironic because I assure you I have not gained overall traffic. If I praised every idiotic thing Trump did I would have more traffic.
No one forces you to comment or read them. You choose to do so. And I choose to let you dissent.
But I get tired of the same nonsense from the same idiots chanting “deport them all”. I challenge you to name a blog that puts up with more dissent than me.
If you can find such a place, tell me, and I will comment there.
And from reader Mark …
Reader Mark: “Perhaps there is a better way to handle the current position but I’ve not heard it really articulated. All I hear is claims of inhumanity and Trump is always wrong.”
I have Repeatedly stated many times what needs to be done. The irony is so has Trump.

Trump repeated a similar message in a direct interview with the Wall Street Journal.
Instead, Trump decided on Gestapo actions.
You just named a couple sites I no longer go to because they are echo chambers run by dictators. I know this site has a libertarian bent, but differing opinions are allowed.
Actually, what drew me to this site originally many years ago was your often contrarian beliefs. Even if I don’t agree with them, I like to hear what other opinions are about issues. I care not to spend my day in an echo chamber.
Thanks DJT
He was one of those I quoted and challenged in my post. My belief on that challenge was that it was a mistaken comment without thinking.
I used it because it included ideas many readers think.
WolfStreet ? That broken record is still playing? Someone please take the needle off and throw the 78 away
He actually lives in San Francisco, so there’s that.
Not my cup of tea, but he’s not hiding in a bunker.
Wolf only sees what he wants to see. He’s a perpetual real estate doomer and thinks the employment market is great. He doesn’t allow dissent from those views.
Correct!
Wolf also has inflation completely wrong as he says that importers ate/eat the costs of the tariffs. They not only raised prices after a couple of years of lower margins, they ultimately increased margins on top of passing trumps tariffs through.
WolfStreet has predicted thirty of the last two housing declines. He is a perpetual doomer, they are to be ignored and laughed at.
Always depends upon whose ox is being gored, especially when it shows up on one’s doorstep. Many of the media who love the ‘protests’ in Chicago, for example, live in the north shore suburbs or gated / guarded communities in Burr Ridge. Nothing has changed in 5 years.
Gestapo – enforcing immigration laws. Mike, you’re better than this.
No need – Curtis – Goodbye
What I will do with all taunts
Bravo Mish. Well said. So many are saying “the law is the law” and it must be followed. Therefore, illegals must be rounded up and deported no matter the method. They conveniently forget the methods of many of the agents are completely illegal and unjustifiable. And they give no mention of due process, a bedrock cornerstone of the Bill of Rights no less. It’s all fine when you’re not a target, until you are. Read about any dictatorship in history and this is how it works. Thank you Mish.
Wow thanks
You have no idea how upset I am at some of these comments.
It’s not just the Radical Right. The Radical Left does this too.
Taco thinks sending the NG and Marines to LA will discourage the nationwide protests on the 14th for his birthday parade. Not gonna happen.
Just causing more people to show up.
See ya there……

Stephen Miller, a modern day Joseph Goebbels.
How about a statute of limitations on illegal immigration?
After x number of years in the country you can have permanent status.
There’s no point pretending that illegals haven’t become a key part of the US.
If MAGA’s modern-day pogrom was successful the country would collapse.
The public is finally becoming aware of Stephen Miller.
Say what? There is a way to do that – apply for citizenship.
Unfortunately for them, the illegal long-term residents here should have done that prior to the Trump II Presidency.
Mish, we get it: You like Cheap Labor and want to keep the system of Cheap Labor operating.
And of course you approve of labor unions who support open borders and excess labor which drives down wages.
Why would labor unions be in favor of driving down wages? That makes no sense.
If you took 10 seconds to check you’d know labor unions want immigrants to join unions to keep wages high.
https://aflcio.org/issues/immigration
LOL at anyone or any union that thinks excess labor drives wages UP!
100% Clown World stuff!
Don’t kid yourself they want their dues money regardless of immigration status. They can’t even ask that question. Applicants just sign and agree to hand over part of their pay to the union. The applications are in English/Spanish. California is not a right to work state.
The rhetoric is simply encouraging people to be cruel, including cops.
You think cops are only going after violent rioters? How then do you explain the video of a female Australian TV reporter being shot by a rubber bullet?
I don’t know if links are allowed here so i won’t try, but it’s easily searchable. the footage shows a reporter calmly explaining what’s going on, and there is no violence or protesters within the frame. She’s clearly a reporter. She has a wired microhone and there’s a camera crew. we then see a cop (local) standing in a line with other cops about 30 feet behind her. He turns, aims at her and fires. Why? was she posing a threat? definitely not. there’s not even a debate. that cop decided, this reporter is annoying i am going to shoot her. i am sure she will sue and win.
same thing happened to a NY Post reporter who was shot in the forehead. there’s no video of that but the reporter says he was just reporting and there was no one around him he was clearly identified as press and he was intentionally shot in the head. there’s photos of his bloody gashed forehead on NYP. An inch lower he’d have lost an eye.
it also shows we don’t need the national guard or marines.. the locals have so little to do they are shooting reporters out of boredom and i don’t doubt the vast majority of cops and sheriffs are MAGA.
we have seen time and again when you demonize people and when politicians follow up with violent cruel rhetoric, people do horrible things.
Like LBJ said, “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”
That’s how Trump builds a following, by convincing the uneducated masses that their enemy is the immigrant and that only he can protect them. They’ve been whipped into a fearful / hateful state and don’t care what he does as long as they think he’s delivering and if militarized tactics and rounding up brown people who might be illegals is what it takes they’re OK with it.
Of course the real problem is the 1% who are pitting both sides against each other while they use Trump to cut their taxes and deregulate so they can pollute, drill, clearcut and sell defective or fraudulent products with impunity and implement an intolerant theocracy.
The MAGA cult wants a strongman leader as long as it is their strongman. This is more un-American than burning the American Flag in protest of the US involvement in some far-away land or advocating for single-payer government healthcare.
it’s true, they relish and worship cruelty. I firmly believe if they rounded up hundreds of suspected illegal immigrants and machine gunned them all in a field, the vast majority of MAGA would be ok with it and would cheer about it next Sunday in church.
there’s a way to do things, and the way they are doing it isn’t it. closing the border is smart, and we should deport people but the stuff highlighted in this article isn’t the way to do it.
Small, powerless men love Trump. He gives them a sense of power over their presumed enemies. This is a common manifestation of humanity throughout history. Our Founding Fathers understood it. Which is why they only allowed propertied (and hopefully well educated) men to vote.
You also see their feelings of powerlessness manifested in the jacked up trucks they buy and the guns they own. Buffeted by economic and cultural forces beyond their control, feeling helpless, the MAGA seek totems of power, the truck and the gun, to show they aren’t completely helpless. Of course, give angry powerless people any sort of power and they attempt to use it against the nearest person so you get aggressive truck driving and threats of violence with guns as they barely keep their anger under control.
I am not a MAGA guy but what an completely ignorant statement painting a group of people with a broad brush stroke. I have a truck and a lot of guns. Does that make me a MAGA oppressor? I have never used them to “oppress” anyone or intimidate people because I feel “powerless”. I have never in my life brandished a firearm or failed to keep my anger under control and shoot someone.
Bullshit statements like this are what keep the “divide and conquer, divide and rule” going in our society. Easy for the government to keep its boot on our throats when everyone hates each other.
You are always entitled to YOUR personal opinion, regardless of how wrong it may be.
Dreamers aren’t getting anything until we get the Nightmares out of the country.
I thought it was the presence of ICE that fueled the riots. So did ICE LA close down under Obama and Biden?
Sorry, your whataboutism makes no sense. Did LA close down under Obama and Biden? No. Did Biden deport more people than Trump is apparently capable of? Yes. Did Biden deport more people than Trump without inciting riots in LA? Yes.
the L A riots are on the corrupt elected officials of California. The 21 million illegals the obiden regime and democrats brought and allowed to stay will be deported and the perps of the open border will be Prosecuted for Treason then their $ used to deport all 21 million illegals the democrats brought here with our tax $
Most illegal aliens are working age adults. Those adults spent their non-productive dependent years in their home countries consuming the resources there. Adult immigrants coming to the US are productive workers providing more income to their employers than the cost in wages or else they would not continued to be employed. Therefore immigrant workers legal or not are an asset to American business. In addition most Central American countries depend on remittances sent back by these same workers. Cast out all illegal immigrants and both the US and most Central American countries suffer economic harm. A better choice would be to implement a system of realistic work permits and vetted entry into the US. Our current system obviously isn’t working.
Unfortunatley our last president decided to play king and ignore immigration laws on the books in favor of open borders.
So now we have to sort thru the mess that Biden left us with regards to flooding the nation with tens of millions of undocumented and unvetted people.
So enforce immigration law and its called Gestapo tactics ? Got Open Border ideology ? You do realize AntiFa attacked ICE agents and police before the National Guard show up ?
For me, a point often overlooked is that while the illegals are in the US illegally, the Biden administration practically ‘invited’ them to come and live here. When the US declares there will be no checks at the border, gives you a phone, money and a place to live and free healthcare, most migrant must have thought that they were being welcomed into the country.
Personally I would like all illegals removed, and if they want to come to the US legally, then that’s fine. I was a plagal migrant and have no beef with foreigners moving to the US. So what to do? First, the deporting must reflect a benefit to society by removing criminal elements and not make businesses short of workers. Immediately (asap) deport all criminals: having an illegal rape a child or adult, go to court and be released, is scandalous. All criminals must be deported when they appear in court, that is Priority 1. Secondly, criminal who are working, maybe paying taxes, and living respectably are second priorities. Rounding up illegals at construction sites, farms and the like is BS to me. Round up gang members and criminals, especially murderers and rapists first and immediately deport them. The whole
yep, at least 11 million border encounters during Birdbrain Biden and almost all of the 4 million deportations came from those 11 million
Illegal is illegal. Round them all up. Learn how to mow your own lawn!
Perhaps Trump should add a business credit to his BBB for the purchase of robots? This would help reduce the need for illegal workers.
Perhaps he should just enforce current law and prosecute criminal Landlords and CEO’s that are housing and employing illegals.
Ha! You don’t understand the power of money in American politics.
I think this is one of the many reasons that Democrats facilitated the invasion into the country, they can’t win on the merits of their arguments, so they find other ways to gain and hold power. People are understanding this more clearly now, and that’s why I think we will see a concerted effort to finally have only legal citizens in this country.
—————————————————————-
1. The Census Counts All Residents — Not Just Citizens
• The U.S. Census, conducted every 10 years, is constitutionally mandated to count every person living in the country — regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
• This includes U.S. citizens, legal immigrants, and undocumented (illegal) immigrants.
________________________________________
2. Congressional Apportionment Is Based on Total Population
• The 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are distributed among the states based on total population.
• So, a state with a higher population (including undocumented immigrants) can gain more seats.
o For example, states like California, Texas, and Florida may benefit from higher immigrant populations.
________________________________________
3. Electoral Votes Are Tied to Congressional Representation
• Each state gets electoral votes equal to its number of Senators (always 2) + Representatives.
• Therefore, if a state gains House seats due to a higher total population, it also gains more electoral votes in presidential elections.
________________________________________
4. Controversy and Legal Challenges
• Some argue this creates an imbalance because undocumented immigrants cannot vote, but their presence still affects political power.
Trump did not build the wall and basically invited the migrants that arrived in waves under Biden while the republicans refused to pass border protections. Both sides suck at protecting our borders and freedoms.
exactly correct. it’s a uniparty. trump ruling like a big goverment national socialist.
I think the MAGA Republicans (maybe not the RINOs) and Trump think this is the last chance to save the country so we might see many things happen that people thought were not possible. Here’s some reasons why they opposed the previous border bill, easy to find on the internet.
—————————————
1. Thresholds Too High, Trigger Too Late
The Senate bill gave the DHS Secretary emergency authority to close the border only when:
4,000+ illegal encounters per day on average in a week (optional),
5,000+ in a day, or 8,500+ in a day (mandatory closure).
Republicans criticized this as a “gift to Democrats” and a “Death Wish for the Republican Party,” arguing it allowed huge surges to happen before any action.
—————————————
2. Reckoning with Executive Authority
Many Republicans felt the president already had sufficient powers to shut the border and that this bill would actually limit executive flexibility. They argued it created red tape, handcuffing the administration by fixing arbitrary numeric triggers.
—————————————
3. Ukraine Aid Tied to Border Provisions
The bill packaged border reforms with hundreds of billions in foreign aid, including funds for Ukraine. GOP members like MTG, Gaetz, JD Vance and Mike Lee said they opposed it because they didn’t want to pass Ukraine aid, essentially calling the border bill a Trojan horse.
—————————————
4. Concerns About Asylum, Resources & Enforcement Gaps
Critics said even though it strengthened asylum screening and boosted border staffing/detention, it didn’t adequately stop people from crossing in the first place, allocated powers without sufficient funding for enforcement, and codified steps that could slow down expulsions.
this counting of “illegals” have been going on since 1800s. lots of power to have 2nd class folks in your districts.
“Some argue this creates an imbalance because undocumented immigrants cannot vote”
—–
They cannot vote in FEDERAL elections but in many states, they can vote in state and local elections and are generally assumed to lean heavily Democratic, thus helping build an in-state support network for the national politicians.
Oh by tge way, how is that homeless situation with actual documented native born Americans that served in the military or never committed crimes in California? They can’t even solve that problem and they invite millions over for benefits that outweigh by many factors tge help California gives to actual native born Americans.
The facts are this. ICE asked LA police for help when criminals tried to stop their legal duty of arresting known criminals and illegal aliens. Trump federalized the national guard a perfectly legal and necessary thing to do given the absolute defiance of the government in California to even acknowledge the supremacy law of the United States that states the federal government has the duty and obligation to arrest and conduct deportations. None of this would be happening if there was an ounce of cooperation from California. None flames were fanned by national guard tge guard sits at the federal building not engaged in any crowd control they are protecting their federal agents. Millions of illegals crossed tge border under Gavin Newsome illegally creating what he calls a sanctuary city. There is no such designation recognized by the Federal government.
Poll out, people who approve of Trump’s actions 59 percent
Total bullshit.
Try asking this
Do you support ICE evicting all illegal aliens, if that costs hundreds of billions of dollars, breaks up families, drives up inflation, and deports hard-working employees?
The bigots will say hell yes. Nobody else will,
You are an idiot if you believe 59 percent support deport them all, even without a proper question about costs.
At any rate… it’s good to see Mayor Bass finally taking Tom Homan and his so-called “Gestapo” tactics seriously.
Not supporting the application of law for this situation really undermines all of the nonsense you posted about wanting people to follow the law because that’s the right thing to do and you’re particularly good at it. I would suggest you have ethics “a la carte” when it comes to the application of the law.
i look forward to your personal insults.
<<Going after hard-working immigrants who have been here for years is certain economic idiocy.>>
I agree. Question: why are they still undocumented, in States where immigration cases are resolved quickly? Perhaps because green cards receive SSN, and SSN means documented payroll and taxes? And no generous benefits anymore?
PS.
American law enforcement frequently looks like a violent version of Inspector Clouseau.
The real Gestapo was actually very professional – brutal & unforgiving, but they rarely made mistakes, and their documentation system was unsurpassed. The first year of the occupation they helped local authorities reduce the crime rate and solve chronic cases (until the SS took over and turned Athens into a graveyard).
PS2.
Mish, you’re an American and it’s understandable you don’t know the very very complicated history of Europe in the 30s and 40s. But you should know of the complex structure of NGOs and foreign operatives behind the riots. They got exposed in Greece in the 90s, few paid attention.
What a crock of shit.
The inability to call something what it is, Looting, Arson, physical attacks on personnel, exhibiting the self restraint of wild animals.
Then passing the buck by blaming Rioting on someone else such as a President for a complete failure of self control.
Citizens of the US see what is going on and they are not likely to receve abrogation of civil society as acceptable or justifiable.
You are absolutely correct
<<Looting, Arson, physical attacks on personnel, exhibiting the self restraint of wild animals>>
These are not immigrants by the way. They are paid mobs. You can hire them to protest bad Comcast service if you have the money.
I believe it is Patel who is looking into whether there is any funding going on.
Things like leaving pallets of bricks at key areas is evidence of a coordinating group.
let’s put the blame on who caused this all in the first place Mayorkas and Biden if they did everything by the book it will take decades to remove a couple million of the 10 to 20 million that flooded in in only 4 years (never know the exact amount so many getaways)
Annex Mexico and establish a 51st state.
We are already supporting red states we don’t need another welfare state.
Something I’ve seen a lot of MAGA bootlickers say lately: “How come there were no riots when Obama deported 2 million?” as if this is a winning argument to defend Trump.
No you idiots, ask YOURSELF “How come there were no riots when Obama deported 2 million?” Because he’s competent, he got the job done without cities burning.
If warped MAGA minds actually cared about enforcing immigration law, they would be HORRIFIED by how ineffective Trump’s strategy is. Biden and Obama had around 1 million more deportations during each of their 3 terms than Trump did in his first, and they will continue to outpace Trump if he continues at his current pace of “completely ineffective smoke and sh$tshow.”
But of course warped MAGA minds DON’T care about anything but optics and owning the libs… and Trump, the TV show host huckster, is throwing them scraps of offal to keep them in a frenzy.
Your post suggests you have no management experience whatsoever and you have no idea what a leader is.
It depends upon what the definition of “deport” was then versus now. They counted it as a turnaround at the border.
Legal is legal. Illegal is illegal. Mish, do you not support those that want to follow existing law?
Yep.
it’s not a “crime” to cross the border illegally except in certain limited situations.
From what i read, Every adult’s who crossed the border illegally and is apprehended by border control is charged with a misdemeanor or a felony. There may be a few exceptions
Specifically, under 8 U.S.C. § 1325 (Illegal Entry), the first time someone unlawfully enters the U.S. without being inspected and admitted at a port of entry, it’s considered a misdemeanor and can lead to a fine, up to six months in prison, or both.
It’s important to note the distinction between illegal entry and illegal reentry. Illegal reentry, particularly after being previously deported or removed, is considered a felony under 8 U.S.C. § 1326.
A misdemeanor is still a crime, just of a much lower degree than a felony.
“As for replying to readers, I am sick of people repeating economically illiterate things that I have already refuted.”
Um, what does economic illiteracy have to do with understanding what Gestapo means? Until we’re well on our way to killing 6M people, it’s probably a bad idea to throw around Nazism’s.
“I challenge you to name a blog that puts up with more dissent than me.”
If you’re talking about dissenting from Trump, you’ve got that down. We don’t need any more dissent, if I may.
One more time, “Deport them all.”
Okay, I know that’s not possible, for now at least, but I’d be happy with 15M out of the 25M.
Mish : Flying Mexican , Venezuela , Guatemala , and LGBQ Flags while burning and spitting on our Flag really truly shows what the Democrap party has done with California, and America. None of your commentaries about this can ever sway my support & opinions about how bad “Globalists & Globalism have done to America !!!
I dont support deporting illegal aliens.
Just shoot them, as they are invaders. Save the cost of deportation.
You can call me unsympathic and uncaring – yes I am.
” morally unjust” – LOL
Try showing up unnznounced in say China, and say you expect a free apartment and free food and spending money too. Only works in stupidly liberal Western nations.
“Team trump set deportation quotas which kicked off the riots.”
No. The rioters wanted to riot, just as they did in the Floyd riots. Just as they did in the Rodney King riots. Some of the Burbank store fronts boarded up with plywood during the Floyd riots, over fear of looting in the city. The intent of the Friday protestors, was to disrupt ICE raids. Who was behind instigating the protests should be investigated.
The jury acquitted the 4 police officers charged in the Rodney King beating, after they saw the 13 seconds of video that KTLA edited out of what they broadcast to the public. They saw the video in context. KTLA also ran a large banner opening “INSURRECTION,” reporting on the riot on J6, to inflame their audience. As far as i am aware, the Capitol Police did not declare an unlawful assembly and fired on the protestors just standing on the lawn in front of the Capitol steps, without warning. Looks to be the Capitol Police incited the protestors to riot, in response to being fired on.
Newsom, Bonta and Bass are parroting from the same playbook. Their leftist propaganda is transparent.
When white lawful taxpayers get killed by police brutality, no riots.
Lots of people get angry, but no riots. Strange, ah?
You had to use the words Gestapo Tactics?
Americans don’t know the difference between Gestapo and SS and Wehrmacht.
Understandable. Europeans do not know much about US history either.
The LA riots were pre-planned. I didn’t see any riots in previous cases of police brutality or injustice — they only happen when there’s a political agenda.
It was relatively quiet in Chicago after the CPD – Laquan McDonald in 2014. Perhaps it was because Mayor Rahmmy-Baby hid the policy car and body camera recordings until he was safely re-elected. Not much of a peep out of the local sycophant media against Rahm on that one.
In this world of “divide & concur” politics it’s virtually impossible to move forward, as people with no facts are defending lies, sold as truths by the establishment, and the professional propagandists can always outwork the working stiffs because that is their job. A perfect example is the way the establishment conflates pollution with gloBull warming, when one has virtually nothing to do with the other, but try to tell that to a BELIEVER of gloBull warming.
EVERYONE ON BOTH SIDES NEEDS TO COME TO GRIPS WITH THE FACT THAT THE GOVT IS YOUR BIGGEST ENEMY, and if we don’t ban together everyone will be deported to their own living Hell.
If one wants to be a martyr by burning/destroying property that is not yours, go for it, but know that you are being a Useful Idiot. Your cause will be exploited by the establishment for their benefit, just as Vietnam protesters were turned into druggies and hippies, and Jan 6th protestors where converted to insurrectionists.
If one wants to argue whose right or wrong on a topic created by the establishment, you are wasting your time and not addressing reality, which can land you on the side of a bleeding-heart liberal. If you think this situation is bad, what do you think is going to happen when CalPERS defaults, or the other bogus promises from Govt go up in a bonfire of hopium smoke? How do we treat Veterans or small businesses squashed by the big corporate bribing machine we benignly call lobbying?
No one, including those escaping foreign corrupt Govts, gets a pass on “buyer beware”. The ILLEGALS that took a chance to come to the US thinking our Govt was going to be less corrupt and incompetent than their own are finding out that establishment Govt’s all over the world are in a fight for their perks and power, and the serfs always get sacrificed. There always has to be a foreign boogyman to blame, be it a Jew, Russian, or migrant worker. There are no mirrors in Govt, and not knowing one’s history is not an excuse.
None of the travesties committed by Govt’s throughout the world were justified or right, but they always happen, because the people did not fight from the beginning when their Govt methodically and predictably began their march to destroy freedoms. Now, when the SHTF they want Govt to save them – good luck! ILLEGALS should’ve stayed at home and taken the fight to their own Govt, as we will have to do, because there is no place for US citizens to run. Also, if you hang out with an ILLEGAL, you will get implicated just like anyone unknowingly hanging with a criminal. Pick your friends wisely.
Oh, and if you think I believe Trump will lead us to the promise land, you’d be dead wrong. The mere fact he is sh*tting on States Rights in his BBB and paving the way for a centralized Db on every American is just one example why MAGA country better keep their head on a swivel. Go read about Trump and Vance’s connection to Thiel and the rest of the Pay Pal Mafia. It’s not only the mother WEFers that believe in Build Back Better and the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Do all Americans need to carry proof of citizenship with them at all times?
Trumps SS squads roaming the streets ignoring due process because they are empowered by a vicious narcissist? Gangs of trumps soldiers grabbing young girls and raping them in front of their parents?
This is trumps sociopathic fantasy in action. Lawless enforcers raping and pillaging to provoke outrage ~ so he can invoke martial law and stop elections.
Trump stated that he would be “Dictator on Day One”. He is!
Elections have consequences, some worse than others.
Exactly what would be the reaction of a MAGA cult member to having his child or wife pulled from their vehicle, arrested and deported because they can not prove their citizenship on the spot?
My guess is that all of the illegals should buy MAGA hats so they are not arrested!
Profiles in courage?
😉
What a massive strawman argument.
My wife or my kids would have a state issued ID that would make your exaggeration moot.
And could speak English. The PC police want us to maintain the fiction that those who cannot speak English are no more likely to be here illegally than someone who speaks English with an American accent. That’s ridiculous. If you can’t speak English or can only barely speak it, the burden of proof of your legal status moves onto YOU. It’s not “disparate impact”. It’s not because of your skin color or surname. It’s just common freaking sense.
crazy dude.
Yes, perhaps so, and they are in the proper uniform of the brute squad.
It sure is fun to stir you up.
It’s great to know your true colors, a pot stirrer.
Are you participating in the LA riots?
not proof of citizenship. only birth cert and passport qualifies. the other stuff like licenses by states are just residency.
Why can’t the current administration ignore due process, when Joe Biden turned the entire CBP / DHS into a superhighway for 4 years of fake asylum seekers, especially for the millions who snuck across the border without being apprehended? They are TRULY here illegally, never having been given an “optional” court date?
But again, 98% of those who are apprehended & released don’t show up to their court hearing anyway. So, when you start doing the math, only a very small, tiny-tiny % are actually doing what US immigration law requires them to do to stay here legally.
That Egyptian who firebombed the Jews just hanging out had overstayed his visa.
The Dems are absolutely shooting themselves shotgun style with this. The average American, even those in the middle, have to be wondering HOW THE F DID WE GET HERE? And more importantly, what does it take to return the US to sanity where immigration laws are respected & upheld.
And again for the millions time, as America hurtles towards its AI (OpenAI’s latest model is considered Genius level intelligence) & robotics moment in at most 10 years, the absolute last thing we need are 50M extra mouths to feed & find jobs for.
On Jeopardy Tuesday night, during the Q&A period, a contestant related how he overstayed his visa while visiting Taiwan a while back by 10 MINUTES and was banned from returning to the country for a whole year!
This is how our system should work!
Legit!
Try renting a 20 year old roto-tiller from a local hardware store without one.
They’re tearing babies out of incubators!
And eating peoples pets! Are they eating the babies after tearing them out of the incubators? Oops, in Palestine they are being starved to that extent…
You are aware that thousands of people on both sides died for that Kuwait / Bushco /CIA lie, aren’t you?
Yes, of course the Bush lie was just a fantastic cover for raising oil prices to $200 per barrel. Massive profits for Halliburton and defense contractors. Point is?
yup. great pal of mine got extremely wealthy overnight as an oil trader on floor of the merc. for that debacle war. he was a humble guy and i was happy for him. lost contact. doubt it ended well.
In the meantime, Waymo taxis were seen exiting LA center, and Tesla taxi was driving in Austin, before launch.
If taxis can drive without passengers, they can be used to cause traffic havoc, a future terrorist apocalypse.
I actually had that as a discussion topic lecture in Quantum Mechanics.
Safe to say that more people understand EVs than Quantum Mechanics, including the physicists who lecture it.
Drones and cars remotely controlled for terrorist attacks. It’s coming. Silicon Valley always thinks “safety features” are relatively unnecessary.
Why would they do that???Us government would never allow that,it’s illegal!
@Mish,
It sounds like you don’t really value the concept of legal immigration very much. Jobs before laws seems to be your frame of mind. Legal immigrantion applicants who wait years, or never get approved, vs flood the country with lawbreakers. And make no mistake — that’s exactly what’s happening and exactly the issue at hand. I’m not sure how you can square that circle.
It appears you cannot read.
I support closing the border – not as much as Trump – but he did it and I don’t object.
What’s happening is Trump shut the border. That fact seems to escape you.
The other fact that seems to escape you is like it or not, Biden welcomed them here, even opening the fences. Many being rounded up were here legally and opps now they aren’t. I welcome a lawsuit on that even though I think Biden was wrong.
The question is what to do about this, and how. Trump on three occasions said we need to make a deal, have a heart etc.
What about that do you fail to understand?
What about stopping the focus on criminals to people are working at Home Depot do you fail to understand?
Trump correctly said “It’s complicated”
Instead of working with that – he sends in the storm troopers.
A lazy American is worse than a hard-working immigrant legal or otherwise. Americans over time become more entitled over time due to some moderate prosperity.
Thank a high school guidance counselor on college night. The tickets to The Big Game are in the mail.
Even if that’s true, so what? America belongs to Americans, and Americans get to set the rules. If you don’t like the law, change it.
<<A lazy American is worse than a hard-working immigrant legal or otherwise.>>
MAJOR MISTAKE – which I realized myself when I hit 50.
The whole point of capitalism is to end up with “the LEAST amount of work with the highest outcome”. It is not to dedicate your own life into a rat race with no end in sight. A number of lazy people is essential to keep wages a little higher.
Otherwise the US turns into a “Work Camp” of charmless, unsatisfied, bitter, worked to the bone and lonely individuals.
PS. My editor once told me I could file for World Record of continuous work without breaks or vacations. My own daughter timed me once not having left the apartment for 7 weeks (working in two time zones, no sleep but only naps, etc) – and it went on for two decades. And another decade of workaholism in Greece before I came here.
Then a dentist couldn’t pull a tooth because “your BP is too high” and I hadn’t realized it. I thought the chronic tinnitus was from the computer and lack of sleep. Apparently, it was 4 years with continuous BP between 195 and 210. That tooth saved my life, because I immediately changed lifestyle and went on BP treatment. The damage to my circulatory system of course is not reversible. Get balance in your life before the “Religion of Productivity” destroys it.
very nice to post that story of your life. glad you figured out what matters. i finally at age 34, figured out a lifestyle where i could work 3 days per week, at 2hours per each day. 6 hour work week. been grinding at that for over 30 years now. zero regrets. tons of time for taking woodworking and art and academic classes and being an activist and most importantly spending the time watching my kids grow up. just being around is what it’s all about. not the travels or stuff……..which we did also.
I’ve seen enough, plenty of snowflakes triggered so I am officially designating this post 3-star Mishelin for great post, commentary and follow up commentary.
Keep ’em coming Mish.
Sounds like a dictatorship test by irieempowering ICE thugs.
It’s a mess to clean up and the bigger the mess the harder to clean. I think they are following the laws on the books the best they can if you do not like “change the law”. Is everything always 100% correct? Never!
We need to go back further to establish the origin of the Chaos in LA. –OPEN Borders by lawless Democrats to establish an unbeatable voter base is the origin and cost to the American people. The reestablishment of law and order and nullification of the planned illegal voter base requires removal of lawbreakers locally and in DC Agencies
So stupid youu are.
Go back to Ireland.
The last time a president invoked the insurrection act? Where? Why?
Biden and Obama each had around 1 million more deportations during each of their terms than Trump did during his first term, and is on track to achieve during his second term. For all the smoke, fire, and violence, he’s accomplishing very little.
What a ridiculous title.
Literally an inversion of reality. And a selective memory,
If you think what Trump has unleashed in LA is “gestapo” level, you have a lot to learn.
Looking back, I don’t recall you referring to the strongarm arrests of protestors in Russia against the Ukraine war and their summary conviction in Russia “kangaroo” courts under Putin’s direction as “gestapo tactics”? Did I miss this? Or is your use of “gestapo” just a TDS thing?
The world would be a better place if people would not use trigger power words, such as “gestapo” and “genocide” unless they fully understand their meaning and are able to correctly apply them within the context of the situation they are being used to describe.
What the Flying F is the matter with you?
For starters Whataboutism is general idiocy in and of itself.
Second, and as a long-time reader you should know I talked repeatedly about Ukraine and the true origin of that war.
Finally, I said I do not use the word Gestapo lightly. In fact it is the first time.
But it applies for reasons stated.
Looking for TDS, then look in the mirror.
Sorry, I guess my writing wasn’t clear enough. I’m not a fan of Trump and I didn’t vote for him. Some of his policies I agree with, many others, I don’t.
But there is no way that Trump or his administration qualities to be branded with the word “gestapo”. Here is the definition of the word:
Are the LA protesters being ruthlessly suppressed from protesting? Have any been arrested and sent to concentration camps or secret prisons, such as what Putin regularly does? Have any been shot and executed on the streets? Has anyone been thrown off a building as Hamas does?
Misusing words such as “gestapo” and “genocide” out of personal frustration with the situation only weakens any arguments you offer against what is going on. The fact that you are unable to see this implies that your vision is clouded on the matter.
But in the end, it’s your blog to do and say what you wish. We are all just your guests.
NO THEY ARE NOT!!!
But you’re the one withTDS, JoJo, whether you voted for Trump or not.
“No they are not!!!” what Bennie?
Sorry, I was being sarcastic. My bad!
If the protesters want to waive signs Mexican flags they should be free to. Throwing cinder blocks, lighting fires and blocking freeways should get them arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent. And there are federal laws being broken, so it’s not just up to Gavin Newsom.
Some family in the U.S. flew a Norwegian flag (that’s where they came from) on their front porch one day 5 years ago during The Summer Of Love and some “protesters” threw bricks through all their windows, apparently confusing them with 1860s Confederates. Can’t beat U.S. public schools!
Strange things I never understood about the US:
— people flying confederate flags and saying they’re patriots (the confederate flag is a symbol against the USA).
— gun enthusiasts saying “to protect from a tyrannical all-watching overlord government” and then they post their location, armament details and tactics publicly on YouTube.
— continuously moving from place to place and then complaining about lack of community.
— loving European political philosophy (which ended in 1945 after having produced Feudalism, Fascism, Naziism and Communism).
— American atheists going to Europe, coming back with pictures, 90% of them are of cathedrals and local religious events.
— loving England (slave owners and colonialists), France (slave owners and colonialists), but not East Europe (Slavs).
— criticizing the “Southern rednecks” and then going to East Asia to photograph and adore and respect the local villages which are, actually, the rednecks of those countries.
Etc etc.
Not yet but were getting there. Were on a slippery slope.
Maybe not YET but it won’t be long before some misguided fool shoots someone with a live round.
Military personnel have a strong tendency to see everyone not in the same uniform as the enemy.
This is all the last gasp of white supremacy in America. He who births the most wins. This is why Trump, like Adolph, started “have more babies” programs that usually failed (the SS were particularly bad at it). The Millers of the world take a look at his black-looking wife and says … “I dont have much time left to fatten up my retirement account! I know the white thing is almost over, and I need to pad my nest by stealing from others.” In a well-armed country, they have no problem with whatever violence it takes to get us back to the wonderful 1950s.
And a lot of strange things happening because of that… South and East Europeans, Middle-Easterners, East Asians (especially from India), are becoming a very large group. And they say “we don’t care about American slavery stories, we’re not French or English“.
And black Americans should be worried – they’ll have to deal with a population that doesn’t care about their past, doesn’t carry any guilt, and has no reason to treat them in any special way. Who are the blacks going to tax to get reparations? The Pakistanis? The Hungarians? The Chinese? The Iranians?
The Brits are already worried about Shariah Law in some of their areas, considering the presence of Islamic Courts inside their country – enjoy, from the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/law/2017/mar/01/inside-britains-sharia-councils-hardline-and-anti-women-or-a-dignified-way-to-divorce
Well, that’s what multi-culturalism looks like.
I’ve said this before and will repeat: Once AI’s take over, national country borders will be eliminated. There will be one AI overseeing the whole planet. People will be able to move anywhere they like. Robots will do all work and everything will be free. Eventually there will be one world language.
This could be 30-50 years away or maybe less.
I have comments about the poor quality of the WSJ article.
First paragraph is pure assertions without evidence. Standard practice for fake news.
First source is “people familiar with the meeting”. Standard “source” for fake news.
Next assertion without evidence is “ICE agents … conducted an immigration sweep Friday … Home Depot … in Los Angeles, helping set off a weekend of protests … including at the federal detention center ….”
(1) Interesting phrasing, “helping set off protests”. See the implicit bias that protests are normal and the bad action was to “set them off”? Also note that there’s absolutely no evidence of causation but we’re supposed to infer that there was? Once again, this sort of proof-by-innuendo fake logic is standard for fake news.
(2) and then we roll in the “federal detention center” as if the riots there were 100% related to the ICE visit to Home Depot, and not something possibly quite separate.
There is certainly a case to be made for the importance of due process in addressing illegal immigration, but the WSJ’s first 6 paragraphs are a complete journalistic fail.
Yeah. The WSJ can no longer be trusted as a source. It sold out and is no longer a journalistic platform.
It sold out to Newscorp… Parent of FOX News. Please get educated!
Maybe Bezo’s next ex-wife will buy them.
See my comment below.
This is a case of not believing the WSJ simply because it is the WSJ.
The WSJ cannot exactly site its sources without getting them fired.
Are they believable?
100%
Why, it fits what happened down to the gnat’s ass regarding Miller.
But Wisdom Seeker wants no wisdom and cannot think because the article does not support the biased view he wants.
Wisdom Seeker inspired my rule of sources.
Mish’s Rule of Sources: People will believe any fool accusation if it supports their view. But people want named sources when for obvious reasons they can’t be listed, even in cases where it’s obvious the source is likely true.
– First paragraph is pure assertions without evidence. > Is that True? Nothing Bias then.
– First source is “people familiar with the meeting”. > Is this True? Nothing Bias then.
– Next assertion without evidence is “ICE agents … conducted an immigration sweep Friday … Home Depot … in Los Angeles, helping set off a weekend of protests … including at the federal detention center ….” > Is this True? Nothing Bias then.
>> If they are all indeed true, then how is this Bias? I am just trying to understand both sides. Perhaps it can be both?
I agree with much of it, up front, based on it being a true reputable paper released article…
I wasn’t triggered. I critiqued the journalism. I am not arguing that WSJ is actually wrong, just that the article fails to hold up to the basic minimal professional standards of journalism that prevailed through maybe 2095 or so.
I value primary sources, verifiable facts, and logic that’s not pre-laden with an unsupported narrative. I don’t see those in that article.
“Believable” is not the right standard. I have read many articles, in probably every media outlet, that appeared “believable” to people without detailed knowledge of a subject. But which proved utterly wrong upon careful checking of primary sources.
I don’t believe anyone fully understands the origins of the violent side of the riots, and have seen multiple competing explanations. In the absence of good journalism I do not know what to believe.
My argument is not about the WSJ specifically, but that traditional standards of professional journalism need to be revived.
And as for “sources familiar” – there are hundreds of examples of political insiders colluding to gaslight the media by pushing a false narrative. I don’t buy the claim that “it’s ok if that’s the best you can do”, because that standard has been abused so often to mislead the public.
Then here’s a pro tip. If the WSJ triggers you then stop reading as soon as you see it in the post and head over to your favorite echo chamber. No one is forcing you here. We can all decide for ourselves if what we read in the WSJ is good or not, we don’t need you here to “save” us from WSJ or NY Times.
And you don’t need to comment on every post to remind us that you don’t like the WSJ only news outlets that fit your narrative.
Very nicely put!
To me, it’s pretty straightforward. We either get rid of illegals, or we let the nationalities accumulate until we have a real civil war. Either Way, the outcome is the same. The left was stunned after the election, but now organized to use a color revolution against Trump. Again, it’s inevitable with similar outcomes. So saying you are just calling them like you see them based on principles is misleading. This issue did not start when Trump was elected. The same outcome will have occurred whether it’s now or in five years.
So who’s to blame? That’s simple too. For decades, Congress has done nothing about immigration. Zero, nada, nothing! Reagan even gave immigrants a break. Immigration could have been successfully dealt with a long time ago. Long before it became a hot political issue. Again, our Congress now and in the past are incompetent, lazy, and is only interested in winning the next election. This is the problem with Republics, the representatives are worthless and corrupt.
Did anyone really think dealing with California’s illegals would be an easy process? Only a fool would go there. California is practically another country and should probably split off. That may be the only answer for future peace.
Mish, your principal’s new rework. People are coming here illegally because they feel they can thrive. That’s understandable. However, one of the reasons we have a country that thrives is because we are a nation of laws. How ironic. No matter if you’ve been illegally here for one month or twenty years, you’re still violating our laws that we all must follow.
So pick your poison. Riots today or civil war later. I believe the third outcome is states leaving the Union. I also see a split in the Democrats, just like the Federalists in the 19th century. We simply can not continue any longer this way. Congress failed its duty and will crash the Republic, going the same way as every other Republic before.
Mish, your principal’s new rework. People are coming here illegally because they feel they can thrive.
Excuse me for pointing out Trump shut the border.
And whether or not Biden’s policies made sense (I have repeatedly said they didn’t), we have to deal with the morality of kicking out people legally invited.
The economic reality speaks for itself.
And if you read my addendum that was the amazing position of Trump in at least 3 interviews until he decided to throw red meat to howling hyenas like Miller wanted.
Geez, how many have crossed the border illegally? Do you know that number? Congress has not and will not act! Over the last four years, we have had an invasion of undocumented people. At some point, someone needs to act. That’s just four years, now go back twenty.
People were offered cash to leave; they had plenty of warnings. Having an open border does not mean one can cross to become a citizen. What laws are you reading?
What we have is the neo-Libertarians joining hands with the neo-Marxists to counter the neo-Mercantilists. I find this refreshing because generally the elements that join together join because they are the weakest. The neo-Marxists are weak so that is no surprise but the neo-Libertarians aka Wall Street joining is a bit of a surprise. I had thought that they were strong enough to stand alone but apparently they are not. Surprise surprise.
Every one of those illegal aliens gave 10 to 15 thousand dollars to a Mexican cartel to get passage to the US through their territory. Everyone of those illegals kept out someone who trying to get in the right way. Everyone of those illegals dilutes the rights of citizens by being taking apportionment from the house of representatives. Everyone of them is breaking the law. I think the best tactic is to let them break the law, fence them off, paint them blue like other countries and bring in the busses to arrest them all. Anarchy is never the answer. There is always control. The question is who do you want – criminals or the lawful government police. Bleeding heart liberals always appeal to your heart and not reasoning. For every sob story are unintended consequences that affect the law abiding.
That’s an idiotic statement.
Almost 0 percent had 10,000 to 15,000 US dollars to spend.
You are right, they didn’t have that type of money. They are/were working it off as indentured servants in brothels, drug running and other criminal activity related to criminal organizations. Here are two articles written during the Biden Administration.

15 million?
Are you really that stupid, or is the number more in the thousands?
Neither post cited a number.
Your comment implies a denial of the existance of human trafficing on the Mexico border with the US. I think the impied premise is well, at best – unreasoned and at worst disingenious. LET ME BLOW YOUR MIND!!!! Chinese and other foreign nationals have paid up to $50K to get smuggled across the border. The comment implying that illegal aliens are poor and can not borrow money or payback in other services is naive at best and at worst – dare I say it R….t. Don’t be so opened minded that your thinking is misplaced outside of your head.
I love “don’t be so open minded that your thinking stops taking place inside your head”!
