Trump’s Lie of the Day: Ukraine Agrees to Not Hit Russian Energy Targets

Lies every day. Multiples today. Should I make this a regular feature?

Top Lie of the Day

Truth Social: Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian Energy targets. Russia has agreed to do, likewise! The World’s Diesel price rise is mostly caused by the Russia/Ukraine War, not Iran. President DJT

Sep 14, 2026, 9:05 AM

Zelenskyy’s Actual Proposal

Ukraine has proposed that its partners secure an agreement with Russia that would stop the destruction of critical infrastructure. Food, energy, and other basics that sustain life must be protected, and Russian strikes are directed primarily against them. Every day, Ukrainian energy facilities, port infrastructure, logistics, and even warehouses storing food and pharmaceuticals are targeted. Ukraine is not convinced that Russia is willing to abide by any agreement.

If our partners are ready to ensure that Russia genuinely refrains from striking our electricity system, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and food supply routes, then, of course, we are ready to ensure a corresponding halt to our strikes. So that it is reliable, long-term, has a real impact on people’s lives, and does not fall apart after the Russians hold their “elections” and get an easing of pressure on gasoline and diesel precisely for that period. The war must be brought to an end. And a de-escalatory step regarding critical infrastructure could be the first step toward peace. We expect specifics from our partners.

Ukraine Caught Off Guard by Trump’s Lie

No Genuine Desire by Russia

Yesterday

Ukraine’s Refinery Attacks – Report Yesterday

A Proposal Not an Agreement

Trump repeatedly takes what he wants and lies about that desire being a done deal.

Today, there was only a minimum market reaction to Trump’s lie.

Trump Repeats $5,000 Dividend Check Lie

Truth Social: The $5,000 Trump Dividend, to be given to all Adults in the United States due to the fact that our Country is taking in Trillions of Dollars of Economic Development, Investment, and Pure SUCCESS, is being criticized by “Dumocrats” who are hoping that it never happens — But it will! As an example, the Dumocrats said THE GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL, one of the largest ever approved by Congress, or signed into Law by a President happened, despite the Dumocrats saying it would be impossible to get approved — Or the Gift of $1776 that I gave last year to our Military, was an almost guaranteed Non Starter, everyone said it could not be done, but it was, our Military Patriots got the money, and loved it. When I say something, I mean it! The $5,000 Dividend will happen because the People of our Country deserve it. VOTE REPUBLICAN — MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP

MAGA Defends the $5,000

Translation: @theLeoTerrell knows this.

He isn’t that stupid. But he is trapped in the cult and must defend stupidity.

The Iran Wants a Deal Lie Repeated

Truth Social: The failing Nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly and badly. I will determine whether or not the U.S.A. will choose to engage – The concept of which we are open to. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Sep 14, 2026, 9:32 AM

Trump Translated. “I am scared s-less over the midterms and am desperate for a deal.”

Again, there was minimal market reaction to this now obvious BS.

Bessent’s Lie

Q: Did Trump sanction China? India?
A: No.

Q: Anyone?
A: Yes! Secretary Bessent sanctioned a random bank branch in Egypt and Iranian airlines. That was Trump’s “economic D-Day.”

Understanding Bessent’s Bluff

Economic D-Day (which actually did nothing) has been so successful that diesel is now $6.23 and gasoline $4.31.

The irony is the the more successful the squeeze on Iran, the higher oil, gasoline, and diesel go. And China would strike back on rare earth minerals.

That’s why Trump will not follow up on the obvious sanction bluff.

It’s All Lies

Rebutting every lie this administration tells would take two full time jobs. But I will do a periodic report like this on major lies.

Trump is more than a liar as it is clueless John Ratcliffe who is in the business of organizing strikes on the refineries in Russia.

This morning Ukrainian drones hit Samara oil refinery in Russia meaning that deep strike war against energy targets continue. Ukraine has no oil refineries left so it demands that Russians stop hitting Ukrainian warehouses, locomotives, gas stations and ports.

It is assymetric situation which has no solution:

-because Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries do not hurt Russian army but Russian attacks on Ukrainian logistics start hurting Ukrainian army.

-EU+UK want the war to continue and Ukraine depends on their funding.

-Russians say that Ukraine either signs Istanbul agreement or its army will be crushed. And they also add that there is no way going back to 2022 Black Sea port deal, Ukrainian ports will remain blocked.

At the end it was White House which boosted in late 2025 that it lifted ban on deep strikes into Russia.

It is Al Qaida scenario copy&paste. Again and again.

Lavrov: Russia is ready to resume negotiations on Ukraine if Kyiv is prepared to do so. Moscow is willing to seek reasonable compromises but will not allow NATO to appear on its borders. At the same time, Russia will not halt its military operation for the duration of the negotiations.

Myself: Expect 3 months at the best to reach a deal during which the war will rage. Then it has to be approved and signed by Ukrainian Parliament which is impossible because ultra-nationalists would kill the deputies. Legally, Zelensky is now Mr.Nobody, his mandate expired 2 years ago, his signature has zero value.

While I agree with both your takes, a fear of mine is that the belligerence continues, additional proxies/forces join, the theaters merge, nukes and bioweapons are used liberally, and the bunker elites rid themselves of large numbers of the surface population.

Yes, normal people can’t imagine such evil. But ww1 and ww2 happened, yes? Because what normal people want doesnt matter. What matters is what the psychopaths want. Now the weapons are more powerful and Oceania elite have done nothing good since to improve society. (A few steps forward until the 1970s. Then back.)

The United States could shut this down today, simply by ending targeting, ISR and intelligence sharing.

That they don’t is telling.

Gemini didn’t even mention this particular lie.

When asked what lies Trump told today, it responded: President Trump repeated claims about issuing $5,000 “dividend” checks to American adults, which independent analysts and lawmakers note would actually require congressional approval despite his assertions that it might not.

I replied, just one? And got 3 more:

Trump asserted that the overall viewership numbers for his speech at the Republican midterm convention “beat the NFL,” referring to the league’s Kickoff Game.

Trump dismissed alarms and warnings raised by prominent AI executives as a “hoax” and part of a “SICK conspiracy” designed to hold the U.S. back and give China an advantage. He claimed the industry already has the only guardrail it needs: “a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT.

In conjunction with ongoing legal battles, the administration has continually claimed that sweeping executive restrictions on mail-in ballots are legally authorized and necessary to prevent widespread voter fraud.

I think it is fair to say the “SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT” comment adds to the tally.

Just rebutting the Trump admin’s lies about Canada alone would require 4 or more extremely competent people working full time, I reckon. So you can’t say that Trump isn’t creating jobs!

Not regular ‘lie’ updates please. Waste of time since 90% of what’s on social media should already be considered lies, self-serving aggrandizement, or the equivalent of cat videos. Trump is just following the rest of America.

How about some more economic analysis of consequences of real-world changes?

Tollsforthee

Oh, c’mon.

You can’t excuse Trump by saying, “everyone does it.”

And this commentary is economically relevant to anyone who has stock in oil majors, or MLPs, or buys gas or diesel.

Most traders seem to lean conservative, and they seemed to believe the administration’s pronouncements. Trump was able to move the market with a Trump Social post; he did it over and over again March thru June, when the MOU was signed.

That power has drained away slowly. Now Bessent has claimed “I am the House. Bet against me if you wish.” And we all watched yields continue higher.

Trump has claimed that the war would be over in two weeks, over and over again. He just promised $5000 “dividends” to every adult.

This is not normal stuff! Don’t try to claim “everyone does it.”

You’ll just look as slimy as they do.

What are you talking about? I’m not ‘excusing’ Trump at all. I think he posts on Truth Social like most Americans do and want to read (kinda like my high schooler’s ‘look at me’ posts). I didn’t vote for him and I think most of his policies to date have not helped the American economy.

But Mish asked a question for opinions. And I gave mine.

Mish does posts on “real-world changes” like why diesel prices are increasing, and I get the most out of those. So I asked for more and even used a “please” in there.

But IMO his posts on a short, partisan TS post by Trump to his base doesn’t provide much economic analysis. If you truly believe this post helped you to invest in the stock of oil majors (5.5 hours after every other investor has already heard that news), by all means, invest away. I’ll save my own money there, but that’s what makes a market.

Is this a good time to remind everybody that the only people who ever had Trump Derangement Syndrome are the people who like him? It is normal to be totally repulsed by a horrible human being. It is abnormal to like a horrible human being: it is deranged.

Every accusation is an admission of guilt with those people.

They’re trying to rationalize their own moral rot. They think if they can prove that the people who criticize them are doing the same evil shit they are, then it will excuse their own behavior.

The “both sides” equivocating types you spot here are nearly as bad. They think they can somehow remove themselves from the equation altogether. It’s like Ed Sheeran letting the stadiums block Macklemore from performing because he calls out Palestinian genocide for what it is: by not taking a stand, he takes a stand anyway. There is no middle ground in some arguments.

“… Bessent sanctioned a random bank branch in Egypt and Iranian airlines. That was Trump’s ‘economic D-Day.’ ,,,”
Iran uses crypto (and crypto exchanges) now embraced by Trump (and so, us), to evade US sanctions. Now this is new contradiction/gap is feeding back into the (now stretched and strained) funding needs of Treasury.

You can believe that if Trumps ever writes $5,000 cheques it will only be to American adults in red states who voted republican and this will be reason he will need to cease the ballots before they are counted.
