Maryland Governor and Trump Feud Over Covid-19 Testing

Please consider Republican governor of Maryland says he has ‘no idea why’ Trump blasted him at briefing

Hogan told MSNBC that he and other governors had “a great conversation” with Trump and Vice President Mike Pence during a conference call and “then somehow it went off the rails yesterday in that press conference. But I have no idea why.”

During Monday’s White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing, Trump said each governor had been given a list of labs in their states that could help increase their capacity to test their residents for the virus.

“The governor from Maryland didn’t really understand the list,” Trump said. “He didn’t understand too much about what was going on. So now I think he’ll be able to do that. It’s pretty simple, but they have tremendous capacity, and we hope to be able to help him out.”

Hogan announced Maryland had purchased 500,000 coronavirus tests from South Korea. After a question about why Hogan had to order tests from overseas if there were enough in the U.S., Pence said he didn’t know when Hogan placed the order but he “wouldn’t begrudge him or his health officials for ordering tests.” He then referred to a map showing the labs available to help process coronavirus tests in Maryland. Pence said had assured Hogan the administration would “open up all of those facilities.”

“Take a look at that map,” Trump said. “If the Governor of Maryland could have called Mike Pence, he could have saved a lot of money. I don’t think he needed to go to South Korea. I think he needed to get a little knowledge, would have been helpful,” Trump added.

Responding to Trump’s comment, Hogan told MSNBC Trump “basically said we didn’t have to go to Korea because look at all these things we have in our state. Well, they aren’t tests. They’re good labs that don’t have any tests.”

Hogan is  chairman of the National Governors Association and a Republican.

This public feud cannot do Trump any good. Nor did Trump’s Lysol Moment: His Most Ridiculous Comment Ever.

He didn’t have to give S Korea $9 million dollars for tests that are not being used, but then Yumi would be mad at him for not securing their retirement, you know they are getting a kickback. Hogan gets so nervous, the only time he gets nervous talking about Yumi’s deal with Korea

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that the stable genius has trouble differentiating between A LAB and TESTING MATERIALS TO RUN A TEST. In his defense, a lot of people also have trouble differentiating between A CAR and GASOLINE. Yesterday, I tried to drive inside a tank of gas and for some reason I didn’t get too far. I just smelled bad.

“Hogan is chairman of the National Governors Association and a Republican.”

Hogan is chairman of the governors association because (1) Republicans have a slight majority in the association, and because (2) he won an election in a state that rarely elects republicans.

The Maryland state government depends heavily on tax revenues from government employees and contractors in the DC area. Residents of those areas are mostly democrats and even more are anti-Trump. Maryland hasn’t elected a Republican Senator since ultra-‘liberal’ Charles Mathias in 1984.

A lot of governors also know they need a ‘friend’ in the DC area to get their ‘fair’ share of government money and bailouts.

It is the only elected office Lawrence, Jr has ever held although is father was a 3-term Republican in the House (’69-’75) and a 1-term PG county executive (’78-’82).

I admit that, partly because I have no TV, I haven’t watched any of Trump’s press conferences on corona (except short videos from news links, etc), so I don’t what the test-kit thing controversy is about.

I’ll buy a test kit when they’re available at the drug store for $30 or less for a good one or $10 for a Chinese one. But I am a little leery about sending a cheek swab to some firm acceptable to the government and much more so about going to a government-approved test facility.

I’d like to know just how many people have had the deadly virus without knowing it. I still suspect that it’s deadly to people with other health problems or unhealthy habits while, for others, it really is no ‘worse’ than the flu and will not even be very contagious once a significant number of people in the world have been exposed to it.

But unless and until a significant number of people are tested, none of this can be said with a degree of certainty, so maybe Hogan is correct to order tests from SK.

The Trump/Biden debates later this year are going to be epic. Only a failing, moribund system would pit a stressed out old guy rapidly losing his marbles against an even older guy who’s already lost his own.

Train wreck potential will be high throughout each debate and there should be many parodies since the comedic material practically writes itself. This will make Bush/Gore look like a riveting philosophical symposium!

I hate watching political debates otherwise, but will watch those for the laughs.

I must assume that this response is the work of a Russian troll or an an ignorant Trump Kool-Aid drinker. In either case feel free to ignore it.

I don’t know what to believe.

What I do believe is we are not focusing on what is going on behind the scenes with 3.5 trillion in new money printed and lots more on the way.

Anyone ever think maybe this dumb crap is more of a smoke screen to cover who is getting rich? Trump says some stupid shit and it runs for a week. Great. He is loosing his metal capacities from stress and lack of sleep. Does that mean we shouldn’t worry about things that matter?

In ten years this virus will be a part of life. The things put in place to “fight” this will still alive and well. Does anyone even remember 911?

I don’t know, I just put that report there because it says there is some background to which tests are being promoted or accepted at any point in time, for whatever reason there is for that.

Coronascam is simply a setup to buy time for retooling of the banks in prep for a world wide currency and removal of paper dollars which means eventual martial law gun confiscation and microchip implants on all citizenry as big govt is turned over to mega corporations.
