New York Governor Cuomo Should Resign or Be Impeached Over Covid Scandal

The Cuomo Covid Coverup Scandal

Please consider the the Cuomo Covid Coverup

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s top aide privately apologized to Democratic lawmakers for withholding the state’s nursing home death toll from COVID-19 — telling them “we froze” out of fear that the true numbers would “be used against us” by federal prosecutors, The Post has learned.

The stunning admission of a coverup was made by secretary to the governor Melissa DeRosa during a video conference call with state Democratic leaders in which she said the Cuomo administration had rebuffed a legislative request for the tally in August because “right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football,” according to an audio recording of the two-hour-plus meeting.

But instead of a mea culpa to the grieving family members of more than 13,000 dead seniors or the critics who say the Health Department spread COVID-19 in the care facilities with a March 25 state Health Department directive that nursing homes admit infected patients, DeRosa tried to make amends with the fellow Democrats for the political inconvenience it caused them.

Nursing Home Report

A Nursing Home Response to COVID-19 Pandemic details the following

  1. A Larger Number of Nursing Home Residents Died from COVID-19 Than Public DOH Data Reflected
  2. High Numbers of Deaths at Nursing Homes During the Pandemic Exceeded the Morgue Capacity
  3. High Volumes of Deaths Citywide Exceeded Capacity of County Medical Examiners and Funeral Homes
  4. Failure to Isolate COVID-19 Residents Put Residents and Staff at Increased Risk of Harm.
  5. Lax Employee Screening Put Residents and Staff at Increased Risk of Harm
  6. Lack of Nursing Home Compliance with Executive Order Requiring Communications with Family Members Caused Avoidable Pain and Distress
  7. At Least 4,000 Nursing Home Residents Died After the March 25 Guidance on Admission Practices.
  8. Insufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) for nursing home staff put residents at increased risk of harm

Emmy Award Analysis

This apotheosis was so over the top that Cuomo was awarded an Emmy, for God’s sake, for his press conferences.

Why? He got the award for not being Trump in his competing press conference extravaganzas.

Gov Andrew M Cuomo of NY will receive the International Emmy Founders Award in recognition of his leadership during the Covid19 pandemic & his masterful use of TV to inform & calm people around the world.”

What a hoot.

Recall that Al Gore got a Nobel price for producing a documentary just because he was not W.

Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize just weeks into his first term also for not being W. Obama then went on a drone strike rampage as bad as W’s but the press did not talk about that.

Today, Fauci got a $1 million award for “defending science.” Essentially this was a political award for his tussling with Trump.

Apology Insufficient

A half-baked apology is not close to being sufficient. Cuomo should stand down or be impeached.

As with Trump the likelihood a Democratic legislature removes Cuomo is slim. New York is a one-party state like California and Illinois.

What about a criminal investigation or civil lawsuits?

I support those too.

Inability to convict Trump is not a good reason for Democrats in Albany to sweep this under the rug.

Joe Biden will be the worst President in History. He’s killing our jobs opening the borders so Mexico can pour in here during a pandemic .For as cuomo he killed so many people he should resign or get impeached.

It’s Cuomo Time.
No, not Miller Time.
Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York.
The evidence appears to be growing daily as many have suspected the mistreatment and possible injury and death of thousands of elderly people he endangered by placing recovering CV-19 patients in those nursing homes.
Mr. Cuomo’s real crime, according to an editorial in the Wall Street Journal, was “to keep people from finding out how many people in the state’s nursing homes died from Covid-19.”
Cuomo barred these homes from rejecting people with known CV-19 infections. There are reports he even promised them immunity.
The Associated Press reported that 9,056 patients recovering from CV-19 were dumped into these nursing homes after Cuomo’s directive ordering such.

Unless I live in the state or city in question, I find it best not to comment on what residents of that location should or shouldn’t do with their politicians.

The slap on Cuomo’s wrist will be suspension of his emergency executive powers. Neither party can afford investigations because of collateral damage to political careers. That’s how bad the corruption is.

Putting the most contagious in with the most susceptible. What a great idea.

One thing I’m tired of hearing from the co-called science experts is how you can spread covid even if you have no symptoms. While true, you are far far less likely to spread if you’re symptom free. Generally speaking, the sicker you are, the more of your cells that are infected and the more virus being manufactured in your body. This is why covid doesn’t spread between children. They produce very little virus when infected. This is also why nursing homes are like a fireworks factory. One gets really sick, turns into a virus volcano and so on to others.

And this is why there should be no assurance on the part of the Republicans as to their ability to push the laws and Constitution to the breaking point and that there will be no instances of Democrats doing the same or worse.

Neutering or politicization of the means of accountibilty is bad in all directions.

“Good people on all sides”.

The question that keeps coming to mind is why didn’t they use the largest field hospitals for this purpose (the navy ship and Javitz)?. People leaving the hospital can’t always go home after severe Covid and require nursing home level care but they could have developed an isolation ward. The political battles between Albany and DC really had consequences. So sad.

Well, as a general rule, if you read a breathless story that floods the media on one side and dumps on someone on the other side, the story is bunk. Sad, but true.

Forgive my knee-jerk cynicism, but I wasted an hour or so the other day listening to and reading the transcript of the bombshell/walls-are-closing-in Trump-Georgia call. I swear, I knew better than to bother, but, there it is. Even commented on the @Mish posting about the call in an attempt to save anyone else from wasting their time.

I don’t think this results in an impeachment or Cuomo stepping down but it does hurt his future Presidential aspirations. This is classic Cuomo. Remember the Moreland commission? He created a commission to look into political corruption in New York state but when they started looking at him he disbanded it and declared mission accomplished. I was buying into the message that Cuomo was doing a great job on Covid and compared to Trump he certainly was but there was definitely some p.r. and hiding of unflattering data going on.

He was a fine, upstanding governor while Trump was in office but now that Trump is gone he has somehow mutated into an evil swamp creature. Better late than never. It’s up to the New Yorkers to decide his fate. One party states and cities are a fact of life and in principle there is nothing wrong with it if it results in good government. Unfortunately in many places it just means that an entrenched power has been able to stay in power more through connections rather than through elections. It’s the quasi-mafia model of government and at first can be efficient but graft and corruption creep in and instead of being the exception become the rule. Eventually they fall because of widespread disgust but it takes decades of time. Politicians like Cuomo and Gavin are a feature and not a bug in the Democrat software.

Elderly persons dying in Nursing are ‘acceptable losses”. If one considers it simply as retroactive abortion – no big deal.

The reason Cuomo wasnt as bad as Trump is obvious. He never denied Covid was real. Let’s not confuse idiocy with mistakes. NY had it the worst last year. As bad as Wuhan or Italy. Federal planning and more help from the Trump administration before March would have gone a long way. But Trump believed in pitting blue against red. Today we have Biden sending Texas whatever it needs despite Texas disconnecting itself from the national grid because Republican politicians wanted more deregulation because they never thought they would need to winterize their grid like other states were told by the federal government.

Trump never denied covid was real. He contracted it. He was opposed to shutting everything down. He thought that would cause more problems than the virus. Since we have no way of knowing how many more deaths, if any more, would have occurred if we stayed open, you have no way of knowing if he was right or wrong.

And Biden will likely do the same thing Trump did for hurricane victims or other victims of natural disasters. What specifically did republican politicians in Texas do to cause the crisis?

Really? Idiocy is sending Covid patients to nursing homes for rehab. Approved by Cuomo. He’s as much of a dunce as Trump.

It was Trump that restricted travel from China on January 31, 2020. Trump never denied Covid was real. Trump was called xenophobic and racist for attempting to stop the spread of Covid from China.

What Cuomo did was not a mistake, it was an order. Anyone with common sense would have known that active Covid patients released from a hospital should not be returned to a nursing home.

Cuomo also ordered that only certain people were to receive the Covid shot and threatened that they would be heavily fined if they did otherwise. This forced providers to throw out vials, rather than use them.

Alright, so if I take the under that means a ‘denier’ will say something critical of Cuomo’s decisions? Something positive about Covid?

No, I had better walk away instead of placing a bet. 🙂

Why wait until tomorrow?

When you say “Covid deniers” are you referring to people who deny that Covid deaths in the USA are less than 0.02 percent against total population? A mere rounding number? And that number includes all the normal flu deaths that have now been classified as Covid deaths as reported flu deaths were less than 1500, last time I checked.

Or perhaps you are referring to the Covid deniers who believe that consumer masks can stop an aerosol virus? Now that’s blind denial in the face of real science!

Flu deaths are down to almost 0 because we’re all wearing masks. Which somehow are far less effective against covid. And if you question this or if you point out that global warming predictions are always far worse than reality, you’re a denier of the very existence of science.

We’re not all wearing masks. And annual deaths are up the exact number of Covid deaths. But at least you didn’t criticize Cuomo.

This is what stinks about America, that everyone is supposed to pick a side on the red/blue divide and stick with it. Not many people here in the US can admit both Cuomo and Trump handled Covid badly.

Cuomo really should face a lot of heat for those preventable NY deaths last year, but we all know he won’t.

It was scandalous last spring when the story of the decisions made started to come out, glad there is still some disgust almost a year later. Will there be any consequences of substance or will this just be another situation forgotten as a tempest in a teapot? Hopefully we won’t have to wait long to find out.

I recall there were rumblings of putting Mario’s kid onto the national political stage due to his anti-Trumpedness and ‘noteworthy’ press briefings. Another fine example that the “political class” should not span generations.
