Biden Appoints Monkeypox Czar, the WHO Declares a Global Health Emergency

What is Monkeypox?

Let’s starts with the symptoms and how it spreads. Please consider What Is Monkeypox? What to Know About Symptoms, Vaccines and How It Spreads

The monkeypox outbreak, which was first detected in the U.K., has now led to more than 15,300 cases across about five dozen countries where it isn’t typically seen, including many in Europe and the Americas, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Until recently, monkeypox was rarely found outside certain parts of West and Central Africa. In the U.S., 5,800 cases have been confirmed, federal health officials said.

Monkeypox is a viral disease that circulates mostly among rodents in parts of West and Central Africa. It was first discovered in 1958 when two outbreaks of a pox-like disease occurred in research monkeys, hence its name.

Early symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, backache, swollen glands, chills and exhaustion. The incubation period, the number of days between exposure and the first signs of symptoms, is six to 13 days but it can be longer, according to Sylvie Briand, director of epidemic and pandemic preparedness and prevention at the WHO.

A few days after experiencing the disease’s first symptoms, a chicken-pox-like rash usually appears, beginning on the face then spreading to other parts of the body. The rash eventually forms scabs, which later fall off.

Monkeypox isn’t spread easily among people. Most cases in West and Central Africa arise from contact with an infected animal. People are thought to be contagious only when they have the rash. It can be spread from person to person through close contact, such as touching clothing, bedding or towels, the skin, or through the coughs or sneezes of a person with the monkeypox rash.

While patients recover within a few weeks in most cases, the disease can be deadly. The West African monkeypox that is driving the current outbreak in nonendemic countries is the less severe type.

Monkeypox Caseload in U.S. Approaches World’s Highest

The Wall Street Journal reports Monkeypox Caseload in U.S. Approaches World’s Highest

The U.S. has reported about 3,600 confirmed or suspected monkeypox cases, federal data showed, while vaulting near the top of the list of countries with the most known infections since the onset of the global health emergency.

Data have shown the outbreak is heavily concentrated among men who have sex with men, as the virus exploits social networks among people in close contact. This is already a concern, but spreading more broadly means the potential added challenge of trying to educate and protect a broader population, health experts said.

WHO Declares an Emergency

Despite majority of experts on advisory committee being against a declaration, the WHO Declares an Emergency

The World Health Organization has declared that monkeypox is a public-health emergency of international concern, despite divisions among members of the committee of experts who advise the agency, as global case numbers surpass 16,000.

This is the first time the WHO has declared a global health emergency since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in January 2020. In an unusual move, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, went against the majority view of the emergency committee in making the declaration.

Biden Names Monkeypox Czar

In response to the 4,000 or so cases in the US, Biden Names Monkeypox Czar.

Robert Fenton, a Federal Emergency Management Agency regional administrator and former acting head of the agency, will serve as monkeypox coordinator, the White House said. Demetre Daskalakis, currently director of the CDC’s Division of HIV Prevention, would work as his deputy.

The pair will guide the Biden administration’s strategy on monkeypox and help increase the availability of tests, vaccines and treatments, the White House said.

The coordinators will respond “with the urgency that this outbreak warrants” and enable the U.S. to “further accelerate and strengthen its monkeypox response,” said Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to Mr. Biden and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Six is Greater than Nine

In related news, it appears six is greater than nine.

Six members of the advisory panel were in favor of declaring a public-health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), and nine were against that action.

Thus we now have another PHEIC and a new Monkeypox czar.

It is also interesting that the word Czar is derived from the Russian word for Cesar. Perhaps we’re not all that far removed from our Roman ancestors after all.

The word Czar should be offensive to liberals, but they dish this title out like candy. I don’t get it. They don’t know whether to hate Russia or love it.

Monkeypox is not a SDI. It might behoove some of you to learn how it’s transmitted before making stupid statements.

It can be transmitted via use of the same towel or even skin contact like in a crowded subway or bus. This is what most people dont understand.

The word CAN is not very precise. In theory it can spread by close contact on a subway. So can herpies, the clap and other diseases. But the chance is very low as evidenced by how few of the infected got it other than through coitus and nearly always a certain back door version.
The disease isn’t a threat to anyone except a certain small subset of people.

Per Biden . Covid is a virus of the unvaccinated get your shots and you can’t get it and you can’t spread it . Monkeypox almost entirely a homosexually transmitted disease if your not in that group you can’t get it and you can’t spread it . The world is a living comedy show !

Monkeypox vector has been homosexual men this time, but that’s far from the only way it’s spread.

MonkeyBunky, a pox on all you spreaders of fear. This is almost entirely a homosexually transmitted disease so maybe men should all be required to wear specially made masks for their penises. If that’s not ridiculous enough, we can always do like the Muslims and throw everyone with the disease off the top of tall buildings. This disease will run it’s course as soon as all the homosexuals in our country have either had it or a smallpox vaccination to prevent it. If you’re not queer, don’t fear. You won’t get it.

I’m not into gerbiling, I’m not into daisychains and bathhouses. I’m not into the hype that anyone can get it.
98% who get it are queer, bi or into anything going (screw any hole available. The other 2% are the female partners of bi males, males who deny they are in the closet and a couple of children who got it by??? (has childrens services/police investigated those boys in NYC living with gay males? Or are they claiming that they got it from sharing towels?)

July 23, 2022, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus unilaterally overruled this panel of advisers and declared monkeypox a “public health emergency of international concern” (PHEIC). Ghebreyesus made the decision to declare a PHEIC even though the WHO’s advisory panel opposed the declaration 9 to 6.

I’m just checking in. Are we still supposed to be worried about Covid? Global warming? Y2K? Aids? Rainforest? Nuclear fallout? Asteroid, meteor, comet? WW3?
I’m just checking because at some point in time everyone was afraid of those too.

“Despite majority of experts on advisory committee being against a declaration, the WHO Declares an Emergency.”
Reminds me of Aduhelm. Virtually all the advisory committee said it didn’t work, yet it was approved. More than WHO declared an emergency, Tedros dictated an emergency. Another assault on democracy.

idiots! Can we not all see that this is just another power grab, another way for Biden to “declare” something and make it happen? Congress makes laws, not the President. But Biden’s handlers (Biden is too demented to know what’s going on) want all the power to rest with the Executive Branch.

A friend the other day said she was concerned because our government doesn’t have enough restrictions about Covid.
Basically, she relates the amount of fear in the news to how much our government should control us.
BTW, she drinks off of other people’s drinks, hangs out at parties, and doesn’t seem to take it that serious unless she’s in public or on social media.
The sad part is that fear degrades our immune system.

I’m so sick of this BS. This is a nothing burger. The Who idiot self declared the emergency. “I’m going to do it anyway”. It is tied to the global take over of our nation, the restriction of our freedoms, etc. I refuse to wear a mask and will never be vaccinated. I trust God to care for me and I believe he made our body very well!

Correct. The idea is to sell the fear and wait for the people to clamor for the government to ‘save them’ from their fears.
I wonder how many of these moronic tweeters have stopped to wonder how humanity made it from the stone ages to today without government control.
