Caught on Tape Hypocrisy, a Bike Pedaling to Save the Planet Fiasco

Spain’s Ecological Transition Minister was caught pulling a bicycle out of a car trunk for a last mile stunt.

Image of Spain’s Ecology Minister in a staged bicycle ride.

European environment ministers are holding a climate summit in Valladolid, Spain, hosted by Teresa Ribera, Spain’s Ecological Transition Minister.

Ribera pulled a bicycle out of a car trunk for the last mile. She was paraded by lead and trailing cars for good measure.

Virtue Signaling at its Finest

It’s all about virtue signaling says Australia’s Sky News.

This is reminiscent of an alleged stunt by US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, but Snopes says the accusation is false.

EU Chiefs Flew to UN Climate Talks in Private Jet

On March 23, 2023, Politico reported EU Chiefs Flew to UN Climate Talks in Private Jet

The EU’s joint presidents flew to last year’s U.N. climate talks in Egypt aboard a private jet, according to data seen by POLITICO that revealed heavy use of private flights by European Council President Charles Michel.

The flight data, received through a freedom of information request, shows that Michel traveled on commercial planes on just 18 of the 112 missions undertaken between the beginning of his term in 2019 and December 2022.

He used chartered air taxis on some 72 trips, around 64 percent of the total, including to the COP27 talks in Egypt last November and to the COP26 summit in Glasgow in 2021. Michel invited Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the flight to Egypt.
When Michel, a former Belgian prime minister, arrived in the resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh, he delivered a sober message to the gathered climate dignitaries: “We have a climatic gun to our head. We are living on borrowed time,” he said, before adding: “We are, and will remain, champions of climate action.”

The Green Deal in the EU Goes Unfunded, Expect a Total Collapse

The EU ministers are such champions of action they take private jets to summits, burn more coal, and stage fake bicycle stunts to prove they are doing something.

Meanwhile, The Green Deal in the EU Goes Unfunded.

The European Commission put a cost on its Green deal estimate. It’s €620 billion. The EC has allocated €82.5 billion. Guess what.

The next time someone preaches of climate change, ask them these 3 questions
1. What is the level of CO2 in the atmosphere
2. What are the key components of air and in what amounts approximately?
3. What were the levels of atmospheric CO2 variation over the last 100 million years.
If they can’t answer at least the first two, slap them and say “wake up, become informed and then form an opinion. Not the other way around.”

Reminds me when AOC had her fake photo op at the southern border. She anguished over nothing.

If just one of these politicians or activists can actually explain how global warming works, I might believe them. They have no clue. In actuality very few people understand it. And those that do, might be a little concerned, but not alarmed.

Didn’t our Transportation Minister Mayor Pete do this stunt a few years back?

As for the political $nope$ debunking, Pete’s actions kept zero vehicles from traveling and were inconsequential in and of themselves. Whether he rode 6 miles or 1/6 of a block matters not a whit, throw in the associated motorcade’s fuel use and why is this even a story?! It would be nice if $nope$ would acknowledge the hollow symbolism in both Pete’s action and the ‘gotcha’ sensationalism of the other side, but that’s probably expecting too much from a website born from urban legends.

Global warming and the subsequent climate change are working out well for oil and gas companies (as predicted by Realist and Eddie several years ago on this blog). Though it isn’t all rosy.

They have a delicate balancing act trying to satisfy the world’s insatiable demand for more energy, while also being painted as the bad guys, for producing a product that contributes to global warming. Consequently they have to deal with forces that wish to put them out of business, lenders and investors who have abandoned them, and shareholders who want to get paid after suffering through periods of boom and bust.

On the bright side they have adopted a new strategy of being mostly self funded. They are paying off their debt,
as they know that fewer lenders will support them today and in the future. They are using their prodigious cash flows to fund just enough E&P to maintain production or grow it modestly. No need to spend much on finding new reserves when many of them have 10-50 years of reserves already. As long as oil prices stay above $70 WTI, they will have more than enough cash flow to fund themselves while paying off debt and tapping into those reserves. That leaves many of them with excess cash flow of 10-20%. Add roughly 5% for every $10 increase in WTI going forward. And they are committing to give that excess cash back to shareholders by way of dividends or share buybacks.

I expect WTI to average over $80 for the rest of 2023 and $90 in 2024. Which means 20-30% returns based on current share prices. Fortunately my average cost is 1/4 to 1/2 of current share prices.

If one looks closely, one can see a passenger in the trailing vehicle lean out to take digital imagery of this momentous occasion!

(at least there was more than 1 person in the vehicle, so carpooling was also happening — double win for the planet!!)

“It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled”. Mark Twain

It is clear from comments that many are having trouble understanding how badly they have been fooled by the ruling elite with the help of the main stream press. Not sure it is possible to awaken some people to the climate change lie, but we need to keep trying.

Personally it doesn’t bother me. So what – you want to recruit monks as leaders of our power structures? As long as they pass good policies with good intentions, I don’t expect every minutiae of their lives to faithfully reflect those policies.

Since covid, we can all be sure that if governments around the world are pushing a narrative that will:
1) give them more control over the people, and/or
2) give them an excuse to raise taxes or steal land from the people,
they are LYING!

Not when they are the government.

It will NEVER be “right” to use the guns of government to force others to make sacrifices which those in government themselves don’t make.

The problem is that these low-IQ hypocrits hijacked the climate change science as if they discovered it, or believed in it.
The problem should be separated from fake promoters for it to have a chance to succeed.

Whatever you may think of this absurd “climate change” dog and pony show it should be obvious that gross hypocrisy is an anti-persuasive. It’s like a drunk puking father lecturing their 18 year old not to drink. When these people ride busses to their $200 a plate climate dinners it will be an indication that they believe their own propaganda.

The trashing of the planet will continue. There are impacts showing up from malaria outbreaks in Texas and Florida, to roads and bridges buckling in hot zones, to explosive growth of fungi. Insurance companies in Florida and California have said enough and it’s only a matter of time when they bail from other states too.

The Florida ocean water at 90 degrees F which may kill coral then fish but there will be plenty of profits to be made in all of it for the prudent investor.
