Christine Blasey Ford No Longer Deserves Benefit of Doubt

That’s quite the accusation, so let’s present the evidence as told by Ford’s boyfriend who says:

  1. Ford had no fear of flying, even in a prop plane in Hawaii
  2. Ford coached her girlfriend on how to take polygraphs
  3. Ford had no fear of tight places or claustrophobia
  4. Ford made no mention of sexual assault to him in six years

Let’s give Ford the benefit of the doubt on point four. Let’s assume she was that traumatized by the event.

What do you have? A pack of lies.

Please consider Blasey Ford’s Kavinaugh Testimony Unravels After Ex-Boyfriend Refutes Key Claims.

Yes, I believe Ford’s accuser.

Why?

  • Unlike Ford, her accuser genuinely has nothing to gain.
  • He cites specific instances that are likely verifiable including an apartment where Ford lived that was 500 sq. ft.
  • He accuses her of credit card fraud. This should be easy enough to verify.
  • Ford’s testimony about installing a second door on an apartment as an escape hatch has already been blown to smithereens. It turns out that the second door was likely put in to accommodate tenants that Ford leased a portion of her home to.

Redacted Letter

There is of course no guarantee that is true. However, one can drive a truck through the holes in Ford’s memory.

There’s more.

Proof? There Is None

None of this “proves” anything. Allegations never prove anything.

But if one is to believe Ford on the flimsiest of evidence, then we may as well believe evidence that is far more believable to start with.

That aside, I would rather the FBI investigation go on further.

If the FBI can prove Ford flew in prop planes, attempted to cheat her former boyfriend on credit cards, put in a door to provide a private entrance for tenants, or gave polygraph advice to friends, then we can properly discard her entire slimy testimony.

My Current Position: Ford Told Outright Lies

I am willing to take a position that Ford is indeed a liar, perhaps coaxed by or intentionally setup by Senator Dianne Feinstein.

That is my take, but I could be wrong.

Bear in mind, it’s still possible, that even if her former boyfriend’s allegations can be proven, that Ford really believes she was attacked.

I still give her the benefit of the doubt on that point.

Approve Kavanaugh?

If Ford told outright lies, does that mean the Senate should approve Kavanaugh?

I don’t know.

Why?

It seems likely, even to me, that Kavanaugh was not 100% truthful in his responses either.

But wasn’t that what it was all about in the first place?

There was never any intent (by either side actually), to uncover the facts. If the facts do come out, it may be by accident, more than anything else.

Vote Now? Why?

There is new evidence to consider, and most of it suggests Ford is an outright liar.

Let’s check out Ford’s former boyfriend’s story. Maybe its a lie. Maybe the FBI can verify at least parts of it.

If so, that is the best for Kavanaugh. If not, that is the best for Ford.

I stated my beliefs, but I am willing to change my mind. Most aren’t.

Meanwhile, I would rather let the FBI finish its job.

What I Suggest

  1. Declare the Allegation Period Over. Everyone has had a chance to speak. If they failed to do so, it’s their own fault. We need to do this or the alleged search for the truth can last a decade.
  2. Investigate all the substantial claims.
  3. That 100 people believe Ford or 100 people believe Kavanaugh is not a substantial claim.

That is the best process to vindicate Kavanaugh or vindicate Ford without risking the process drag on forever.

Kavanaugh Concerns

At the same time, there are legitimate concerns that Kavanaugh was not entirely truthful.

Yet, I wonder if you would be, I would be, or anyone else would be under Senate interrogation of what we did or said in high school or college.

We are now discussing the meaning of “boofed” and “Devil’s Triangle”.

I had to look those terms up. I never heard of either term, nor did anyone I asked.

Did Kavanaugh answer truthfully? How the hell would I know?

Did he drink more than he stated? I will go out on a limb here and say “probably”.

Did he “black out”? I never saw anyone black out from drinking so I suspect not. But how the hell would I know?

Ugliness in Eyes of Beholder

More importantly, is any of this really relevant NOW? Ugliness is in the eye of the beholder.

It never should have come to this.

But it did. On purpose. By Senator Dianne Feinstein.

She got her undergrad degree IN PSYCHOLOGY in 1988 and then PhD in 1996 … but didn’t get any personal therapy for her supposed trauma until 2012 or 2013?! This makes no sense at all.

As a woman who experienced an unsuccessful sexual assault when I was 14 that was nearly identical to the assault described by Ford, I agree with Mish’s conclusions but have a couple more complaints about Ford’s testimony that might not occur to others who had not shared such an experience.

(1) I was astounded that Ford left her best friend alone with drunk would-be rapists. Once I had escaped the initial situation, my first thoughts were how to protect the other people in the house from the would-be rapist. Perhaps I am more resilient than Ford and I certainly put the incident in perspective once the immediate threat was eliminated, but her lack of concern for other women at the get-together strikes me as being self-absorbed to the point of immorality.

(2) I think we should ask why Ford did not raise her concerns during Kavanaugh’s previous confirmation hearing when his contentious nomination resulted in 3 years of newspaper coverage from 2003-2006 until he was confirmed as a judge to the “second highest” court in the land, the Washington DC Court of Appeals. She asserts that she had a clear memory of the events of that night in that time frame and those Kavanaugh hearings were well covered in the news media.

Sexual assaults certainly exist and they are, in my experience, quite common but that should not move us to accept any allegations without objective proof. Democrats appear to want us to return to McCarthyite smears, Salem Witch Trials (those young girls surely believed that the old men and women they accused were actually witches!), or mob lynchings of young black men for trivial uppity-ness in the Jim Crow south. We should all resist.

Has anyone asked Ford the most obvious question of all. That question would be ‘how many parties did you attend over the course of the rest of high school after this incident’. The answer here (esp since her attending or not attending more parties would be easily verifiable) is pertinent since she claims huge emotional scarring from the attempted Rape. I have a male friend who was bitten by a medium size dog as a child. It traumatized him enough that he hated and avoided dogs (and dog people) until he was in his early 30s because he genuinely feared them. It was visibly noticeable when dogs were close by that he was uncomfortable. It was only after meeting his future wife and getting a puppy that he got past it. So it would stand to reason that if she ‘feared for her life’ that she would actively avoid getting into the same situations (parties with drinking, being around guys who are drinking etc) for a very long time. Most women who are attacked definitely avoid those situations.

…or she started partying even more after the assault. Look at Vietnam Vets who came back very scarred and wanted to go back to Vietnam. My point is that everyone deals with stressful situations differently.

I did not even know what “blackout” meant.
We were a pretty innocent class in high school. The class ahead of us and two behind us had all kinds of issues. I do not know of one person in our class of 88 who smoked pot.

“Did he “black out”? I never saw anyone black out from drinking so I suspect not.”

The term ‘blackout’, in regards to alcohol consumption, usually refers, not to losing consciousness, but to losing one’s memory of a drinking binge, or part of a drinking binge (usually the last part).

I have blacked out twice, the second time only slightly. In a 1976 Christmas party, I drank a beer after drinking champagne. My brother got me home from the party during the afternoon and said that he and I had a talk, about which I remember nothing – except waking up a 11pm and wondering how I got from the party into bed. I had a bad feeling about it so I may have said or done something embarrassing.

The other time was at a winter hot tub party. If you drink in a hot tub, the alcohol goes to your head faster. I vaguely remember being given a ride home but not how I changed back into my street clothes. (I found my underwear in my pocket). The host was very friendly towards me when I saw him the next day (picking up my car) and said I was very polite and found an appropriate place to change. I had a good feeling about that blackout.

Some people use the term ‘blackout’ in reference to passing out.

I once told a kid in front of his father, that his father was a fag. His father went ballistic. I did not understand why. I thought a fag was someone who smoked cigarettes. I do not know where I got that from but perhaps I confused taking a drag with fag. So I know first hand that people can either be confused about slang words or simply be using them without knowing what they mean at all.

What isn’t in any serious doubt is that Kavanaugh was dishonest and highly partisan in his sworn testimony. He should be disbarred. How could he ever rule in a case involving the Clintons or any prominent democrat after that insane rant?

300 or so cases in his past should show he is capable of that.
I am sure Kavanaugh would NOT stoop so low as democrats have done in this confirmation process from insane asylum that is located in hell.

I would deemed Kavanaugh unfit for Supreme Court if he did not get angry at being called a gang-rapist by Swetnick and having smears and obvious lies with NO CORROBORATION being throw at him by the Yale woman and Blasey “fear of flying” Ford.

This is so obviously an orchestrated attempt to delay and then deny the Kav. nomination that the idea does not require validation. Also, she IS a big Dem supporter and appears to be a self-appointed political operative. Here FB in 2016 made comments about blocking “Scalia-types” from the SCOTUS. Further, she will not suffer personal or political or professional harm (Stanford!) from being a proud, lying-sack-of-shit soldier in the “Resistance”. Her motives and strategies are crystal clear. One wonders if these people really even know WHY they hold the views that they do…does she even know much about Kav’s biases? Is she just mindlessly doing the “Resist!” thing?

You probably don’t follow UK Politics but here we had a frenzy of allegations alleging 3 murders. The fantasist called ‘Nick’ was clever enough to weave his tale, like Ford, with no verifiable facts but the Police, stupid as usual, deemed this tale of tosh ‘credible and true’. It was neither. He did let his ego get the better of him and claimed one murder had taken place in Kingston and when interviewed by the press stated that the victim had been to school with him. Knowing his real identity the journalists traced every single one of the people who had been in his class and all were regrettably still very much alive. Why did he do it ? He is a fantasist and is probably mentally ill, so that might explain Ford too – she certainly isn’t playing with a full deck. But she has gone to quite a bit of trouble to hide her past, scrubbing her social media etc. Eventually her lies will come back to haunt her, but I do hope that she is, like ‘Nick’ prosecuted to the full extent of the Law and severely punished.

Do we really care what “Boof’ or Devil’s Triangle “mean”? Maybe it depends on what the meaning of “is”, is. There have been slang terms as long as there has been language and groups of people who want to have their own little way of communicating among themselves. Could any of you white people understand the meaning of certain “ghetto” terms? If not, so what? Why do you care? How does any of this effect the Judge’s track record in terms of reviewing his judicial rulings? It doesn’t unless you are a partisan hack.

Carl_R

Reply to  Irondoor

One thing that is certainly true with slang terms, and it is something that most seem to forget. In today’s internet age, we have things like dictionaries of urban slang. Today, when people hear a slang term they can look it up. That assures that a slang term has the same meaning to everyone, everywhere. In the pre-internet days a term like a made-up word could mean something different in every neighborhood in the country, as some teenager coined a “new” word, and assigned it a meaning that he seemed to think fit.

I have no idea what Kavanaugh and friends believed “boof” meant, but I do know that there is no reason whatsoever to believe that it meant the same thing to them that it is commonly used for today.

The ex-boyfriend’s letter simply confirms what any objective person knows — Chrissie is a lying liar.

For goodness sake! The Senate Hearing was delayed because she (or her lawyers, with her knowledge & approval) claimed she would have to drive from CA to the Swamp because she was too traumatized to fly. And then she flew! Just as she had flown to the South Pacific and who knows where else. Hell! Her so-called polygraph test took place at an airport hotel between flights!

Chrissie lied to Congress. She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for her lying. She has done grave harm to the “Believe the Woman” movement, and even more harm to the integrity of the US Congress.

It would not hurt for the Senate to censure Mrs Feninstein also, and for CA voters to kick her dishonest ass out of the Senate.

No need for “feels” and “beliefs”. The boyfriend named the woman she coached for the lie detector test and that woman was and might still be an FBI agent. It seems pretty easy for the FBI to ask her if the allegation is true or false. The other allegations made by the boyfriend are also easily verifiable. Finally, the boyfriend’s letter predates the hearing which means that Mitchell’s question about the lie detector was not “random”. This does not look too good for Ford…

Frankly, I agree with Jon Sellers that his opinions regarding the surveillance state should disqualify him.

However, if the allegations are a lie, and I have no idea if they are, he has been accused of two of the most heinous of crimes: attempted rape and murder. That is a political low-blow of an immense magnitude and would provoke almost everyone if they are innocent of the accusations. To suggest sitting there calmly and dispassionately is somehow judicial if he is innocent of these charges, is to suggest Supreme Court justices are somehow devoid of human emotion. Furthermore, the quote is closer to a statement of fact than anything else if Ford is lying. Lying is the key. I still think it matters if she lied.

I would argue the opposite (it does not matter wether the accusation is true). A judge (especially a supreme court judge who personally reders a verdict with out jury) is supposed to dispassionately consider the facts and only the facts without influence of politics (I know, we are all human and thus this is probably impossible). In his last opening statement Kavanaugh has shown that he falls below average on that particular scale and thus is unsuited for the position . . . if he actually WAS innocent of the accusations he could have calmly stated so (or at the very least that his recollection of events was different), and asked for an investigation and left it at that. In addition, his responses in the last testimony before congress before the break were NOT in any way becoming of a supreme court judge (or any judge for that matter).

And with 44 “intelligence” background Dem candidates like her, if they win, the Continuing Circus will be too horrifying to watch. Didn’t Eisenhower warn us the MIC he just finished building? It would be really STUPID for the Republicans not to confirm Kavanaugh if they have the votes because:

  1. It would give democrats exactly what they wanted delay, delay, delay and hope they win Senate in the mid-terms and can keep Supreme Court obstructed with 4-4 votes by the 8 current Supreme Court justices until 2020 on most issues.

  2. It would destroy Republican voters belief in their representatives leading to voters staying home in disgust and Republicans losing House and Senate and Democrats playing “let’s impeach Trump” for the next 2 years creating total gridlock.

  3. It would GUARANTEE Democrats find more and more made-up accusers and made up corroborating witnesses for those accusers.
Remember that the original LIE by Blasey-Ford about “fear of flying” gave democrats time to find gang-rape-party-Swetnick by sleazy-Avenatti and Kavanaugh showed me his p*nis woman by New Yorker.
Also there was the lie about Kavanaugh harassing some woman on a boat that was withdrawn and cancelled by the person claiming such.
Kavanaugh would be continued to be destroyed by even more ludicrous claims by democrats as long as they get their delay and think they can stop him.
    Remember “Democrats NEVER play fair”.

It would lead to problems finding future Supreme Court Justices since who wants to have him and his family destroyed by crazy claims by unhinged Democrat fantasists .
Kavanaugh has already ben put through hell more than any other Supreme Court nominee ever.

5.
It would cause the partisan operatives in many media outlets to become emboldened and destroy even more lives of any Republican with false claims since they would correctly think that it works and that there are NO consequences.

6.
It would cause even more men to have deep distrust of women. This is already a serious problem that is lessening family formation since many men are deeply sceptical and distrustful of most women in general.
This distrust has worsened gender relations for years and now the situation is such that men are distrustful of women and women are distrustful of men and media cheers this on and amplifies this instead of trying to heal those men and women that are broken and getting men and women trusting each other again and treating each other with compassion.
