Then again, I don’t speak Spanish. I might have missed the best part I jokes.

Is this the US?
I thought this was the US.
Perhaps I was mistaken.
Enough of that. Let’s put a spotlight on what I did watch.
Debate Transcript
The New York Times provides a complete transcript.
Zoo Part II – Free Stuff
In zoo part II, all 10 Democrat candidates supported “free” health care for illegal aliens.
Let’s not call that socialism.
Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper warned “if we don’t clearly define that we are not socialists, the Republicans are going to come every way they can and call us socialists”.
Noted.
Apparently, if we profess we are not socialists, we must not be.
Amazingly, free healthcare is not a “handout” either.
Pete Buttigieg said “This is not about a handout. This is an insurance program. And we do ourselves no favors by having 11 million undocumented people in our country unable to access health care.”
So, free healthcare is neither socialism nor a handout. It is simply a free benefit to 11 million people living here illegally.
That was the key joke of the evening.
Kidnapping and Child Abuse
In another notable moment, Author Marianne Williamson accused Trump of “kidnapping” and “child abuse.”
Of course, that proclamation quickly became unanimous.
No doubt they were all wondering: Why didn’t I think of that first?
Crocodile Tears
Piling on to the moment we saw fake tears from Kamala Harris.
It was so obvious, I nearly cried myself.
Then Harris got into it with Joe Biden regarding busing. It was a heated display of “he said, she said”.
I was hoping for a fist fight (I believe it would have been an entertaining knockout win for Harris in about two punches). Alas, we will never know. It was verbal fight only, broken up by the moderators.
No Time for Sanders
While the others were busy interrupting each other, Sanders got no time. He was both polite and pathetic.
He kept politely raising his hand hoping to be called on for a rebuttal, but never was.
When directly asked, he repeated the nonsensical idea that the word will end in 12 years if we do nothing about global warming.
He got no applause. For anything.
His time has come and gone. The millennials dumped him and the parties won’t support him although he is the only honest one in the pack.
By that I means he genuinely believes what he says. At least he has the decency to admit he is a socialist.
Looks Matter
Mayor Pete Buttigieg actually looked and sounded presidential. This assumes, of course, that you only care about pronunciation rather than actual content of what he said.
That aside, he did have a well thought out reply to shootings in South Bend and the racial makeup of the police force.
Regardless, on a looks-sounds basis, Buttigieg was the likely winner.
Banning Guns
Harris said she would issue an executive order banning certain guns.
Rep. Eric Swalwell proposed buying back 15 million assault weapons and making compliance mandatory.
The “NRA is on the run,” said Swalwell.
He then got into an exchange with Sanders who only wants to ban the guns, not buy them back.
Blue Ribbon for Biden
I award Joe Biden a blue ribbon for getting in the most words and time while saying nothing intelligible at all.
Fashionably Getting Attention
Andrew Yang did not wear a tie.
Gasp.
MSNBC anchor Brian Williams asked: “Mr. Yang, would it kill you to throw on a tie?”
Apparently, this was “Big News“.
Noted.
Yang did repeat his pledge to give everyone in the US $1,000 a month no questions asked for everyone 18 or older. He would pay for this with value added taxes creating a “trickle up” economy.
Harness Love
Williamson was the only person to speak less than Bernie Sanders. The moderators shunned her. Her sappy closing speech provides all you need to know.
“So, Mr. President, if you’re listening, I want you to hear me please—you have harnessed fear for political purposes and only love can cast that out. So, I sir, I have a feeling you know what you’re doing. I’m going to harness love for political purposes. I will meet you on that field and, sir, love will win.”
If you can find a video clip of that, play it. It’s a riot.
Quite Entertaining
Provided you were not hoping for sensible plans and ideas, the debate was quite entertaining.

If my father was still alive, he wouldn’t have an operable TV in the house. They would have all been destroyed by flying objects during these two debates.

MSNBC anchor Brian Williams asked: “Mr. Yang, would it kill you to throw on a tie?”
Would it kill the moderator to actually be a moderator?
“Williamson was the only person to speak less than Bernie Sanders. The moderators shunned her.”
It is not the moderator’s job to play favorites. That is meddling.
Looking at my Scandinavian welfare state it seems similar political leanings are expected even in the States. We who still work are inevitably worse off than those living off from the system. I work 6 days a week 65+ hours and have smaller income than those having couple of kids and living off the social welfare.
Soon I believe I’ll join them and have time to my hobbies and all is paid by the system…as long as the system can function, that is.
We are heading towards a crash that comes from the similar style of virtual currency pumping that leads to all countries in the system becoming Venezuelas.
The biggest problem facing all countries will be how to keep the people busy when machines are replacing everything. The world doesn’t really need 7.2B people but it has them and growing.
The US economy hardly produces anything tangible, yet employs more than hundred million people. Hard to replace jobs that don’t produce anything by machines. 🙂
Your counted as employed if you work 1 hour or 40. We saw machines replace people during the industrial revolution. The same is already happening on the factory floor. The next revolution will bring automation at such an accelerated level, people aren’t going to know what hit them. AI is coming.
Real unemployment is still way higher than reported. Not as bad as 2016 but global unemployment is actually UP. With each recession what we’ve seen is a lower employment to population ratio. People aren’t magically retiring wealthy in the United States or anywhere else. As technology continues to displace people, unemployment will accelerate. Does anyone seriously believe only 3.5% of people in the US are unemployed ?
By the way, if you haven’t noticed it, it is because you aren’t paying attention. The reason Trump won is because people were still unemployed in places in the country and saw no improvement from 2010 to 2016. Recovery..what recovery ? If you don’t think things are being automated at a faster rate and displacing people then you aren’t paying attention. We will be at 50% employment to population ratio by the mid 2020s and go lower from there.
Considering the diverse languages that immigrants bring to this country, I found it insulting to single only Spanish out. If you aren’t going to address all of the other languages, then please just speak English. Pathetic pandering.
The event was Miami. Yes is as much pandering as Trump wearing a hard hat at a west Virginia rally during his campaign. Now just let me know when you find a politician that does not pander.
Great! Can’t wait to hear everybody speak Chinese when campaigning in San Francisco, or Polish in Chicago.
Sanders “genuinely believes what he says” yet believes “the word (sic) will end in 12 years.” Are you sure about your assessment?
So much circus and mediocrity. I hope, the deep state is still all right. /s

Yang was asked how he was going to come up with $3.2 trillion per year. He came up with $800 billion through an unconstitutional VAT, and explained the other 75% by waving his hands. Nobody called him on that except that one moderator asked how taking the money through the VAT and giving it back at $1000/mth made any sense. His answer to that was more hand waving.
Consensus seemed to be that the Democratic Party needs to BE Socialist while loudly proclaiming that they are NOT Socialist. Except for Andrew Yang who wants to go full Communist.
It’s actually too bad he couldn’t get his point across.
I am in no way endorsing his idea, but his premise is intriguing.
We currently spend approx. 2.4T/yr in welfare, social welfare through MANY programs, not just SNAP but things like Work Opportunity Training Credits..etc.
Now, take all.that money and put it in 1 pool, disseminate it out to everyone equally. That’d be roughly $740/mo/person. To make up the other $800B he proposes a VAT.
This plan would eliminate many agencies in DC and take the government’s role of cherry picking who receives welfare/support away from them.
Now, once again, I am not supporting/defending his plan. But you have to give him points for creativity and an attempt to address a future problem. Plus points for being the only dem candidate that puts economy top priority on their platform.
So you seem to be ok about spending trillions on wars but have a problem spending on health care…
I support replacing income taxes with VAT under the premise that you tax what you want less of. I want less consumption, and more productivity. Unfortunately a VAT is unconstitutional without an Amendment. Currently, the only broad based tax that is constitutional is an income tax, and that also required an Amendment.
Fair enough. So you think a candidate, either party, that runs on the elimination of all welfare (social and corporate) would receive $100 in donations?
I remember watching Republicans in the early 80’s saying the government needs to invest in business, the democrats countered with increased welfare…investing government money in people. Hence growing and bloated programs that need to die.
Neither party will take the 1st step in fixing the ever inflating elephant of debt in the room, they all pay lip service to it.
I just think Yang should get credit for a unique proposal.
At the end of the day we’ll get a Democrat like Biden spending like a fool or a Democrat 2.0 like Trump spending like a fool.
We think alike.
I thought this was the US.
Ignorance has no limits. There is NO official language in the US. So yes this is the US and therefore they can speak whatever language the want to reach the audience they want get over it.
The absolute worst candidates who have a chance are Kamala Harris and Julian Castro. Kamala is a ruthless authoritarian, basically the Democrat version of Chris Christie (only she changes her positions on the issues in every speech), and Julian Castro is closer to Fidel Castro than he is to the average American. Yet virtually all candidates said they would (1) give universal healthcare to anyone in America legally or illegally; and (2) make it legal for anyone to cross the border and come live in America. Really extraordinary!
Kamala Harris really lost me and came off as a big fake phony when she tried to play the race card with Biden. Acting like she is some “sister from the hood” who had to be bussed. When her mom is a PHD scientist and dad a Stanford professor. She grew up as elite and privileged as you can get. Sickening to watch her pander to the African American vote, I hope they see though it.
She painted a target on her back in this debate.
Once another candidate attacks her on her lack of prosecution of Mnuchin & OneWest for their foreclosures of over 6000 homeowners under false pretenses in California, then taking $50k in donations from OneWest for her Senate run…the real Kamala Harris will be shown to the public.
Prosecutors are easy to unhinge in a debate, just have to point out their shady tactics and their arguments turn from facts to emotions.
Establishment democrats are republicans by other name…
Her mother was a single mother and she was indian(asian). But Kamala now says that she has these african-american background and does not even respsect her Indian roots.
You don’t get as many “victim” and social justice warrior points from the libs for being South Asian. She gets much more mileage out of the claims of being black.
I never could stand listening to Trump speak he is so inarticulate and narcissistic. I finally realized its not just Trump who repulses me while speaking, its all politicians. These people are not socialists they are communists who will stop at nothing to MAKE you think their way when they gain power. I don’t understand whats happening to our country. Both parties are completely incompetent. The one thing that concerns me is that the middle class is falling behind as a result of crony capitalism and this drives the unwashed masses into the open arms of communists. This has been the primary reasons communists gain power, the elite screw over the proletariat. The dems have no credible plan to reverse it appropriately, that is their biggest problem.
“I never could stand listening to Trump speak he is so inarticulate and narcissistic. I finally realized its not just Trump who repulses me while speaking, its all politicians.”
Me too. Couldn’t stomach watching the debates. I suspect democracy is a moribund form of government. Putin may be right in his comments of earlier today. I’m not happy about that but…. Just sayin’
The democrats are publicly in full support of minorities. While I suspect privately they’re telling their rich white donors their real plans. The nominee will be whoever the DNC wants and will almost certainly be whoever raises the most money. Since Biden is the favorite choice for rich white people, he’ll get the most money and will be the nominee.
The big message I got from Dems in both debates is: “if people can find away to break the law and illegally sneak into the USA, we will embrace you, give you a ton of free stuff, and not deport you” “So come on in!”. And a big F you to people who wait their turn, fill out the paperwork, go by the rules, and immigrate legally to the USA.
“In zoo part II, all 10 Democrat candidates supported “free” health care for illegal aliens.
Let’s not call that socialism.”
It’s not socialism. In the rare cases where someone actually tries to break into a socialist country, the last thing they get is free benefits.
BTW, how are Beto O’Rourke and Andrew Yang in the “adult” goup while Tulsi Gabbard and Elizabeth Warren are at the kiddies’ table?
‘
“Mr. Yang, would it kill you to throw on a tie?”
Apparently, this was “Big News”.

In totalitarian hellholes, childish court intrigue is all there is. The captives’ role, is merely to sit and watch nonsense like Game of Thrones, and to be impressed and gleeful when one of the half literate members of the ruling Court, says something snarky about another.
In addition to working ever harder for ever less, of course. With the delta being redistributed, by way of “asset appreciation,” and “mandates,” to court members. Gotta keep the hellholers flush in their hellholing, after all….
