Democrats 83 Percent likely to Win the House. Where Is the Floor for Trump?

Let’s discuss some recent polls, by issue.

By Issue

  • Immigration: -12.3
  • Economy: -16.3
  • Trade: -16.9
  • Inflation: -25.1

Polling Basement

How Popular Is Donald Trump?

Nate Silver addresses the question How Popular Is Donald Trump?

After a rough week in the polls, Donald Trump’s net approval rating is back down to its second term low of -15.0. The share of Americans who approve of the job he’s doing also hit a second term low of 40.5 percent.

Those numbers mean that Trump is now slightly less popular than Joe Biden was at this point in his first term (-11.5 net approval) and less popular than himself during term one (-12.0 net approval). -EMD, 2/14/26

Duped and Let Down

The Atlantic on the Youth Vote

The past two months have been some of the worst for Donald Trump’s approval rating—ever. Polling aggregators have his net approval in the low 40s, with 34 percent approval on the economy and 30 percent on cost of living. In individual polls, his overall approval dips down into the mid 30s. The last time Trump’s numbers looked this bad was right after the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. George W. Bush exited the White House with similar ratings.

The slippage is especially drastic with young voters. In the 2024 election, a majority of 18-to-29-year-olds voted for Kamala Harris, but compared with 2020, young voters swung hard toward Trump. According to the Cook Political Report, on March 1, 2025, Trump’s net approval rating with these voters was minus 7. Yet by February 1 of this year, it was an astonishing minus 31.8. Now young people are abandoning Trump faster than any other voting bloc.

… PAYWALLED

Bad for the Market Ploy

Impeachment Key Idea

The DOW is not the Economy

Threat to Steal Elections

Save Act Straw Man

How many in the top half require proof of citizenship? This is false equivalence.

For the record, I support voter ID!

But the SAVE Act Is Not Just Voter ID. Tends of millions of women have names different than their birth certificate.

Finally, Trump’s proposal is unconstitutional. Only morons don’t care about that.

Why Lie?

Why lie? Because intimidation, is the goal, nothing else. If you do not look white you are immediately judged guilty.

US Buys ICE Faculty Owned by Russian Firm

The AP-NORC poll released last week found that six in 10 Americans now have an unfavorable view of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and more than half of all Americans believe that Trump has gone too far both in his efforts to deport undocumented immigrants and in restricting legal immigration.

On the economy, Trump’s net approval rating in a YouGov/Economist tracking poll this month is 23 points in the negative. Inflation and high consumer prices that have outpaced wage growth remain major concerns for voters, as does persistently high housing costs.

Polymarket Blue Wave Odds

The Polymarket odds of a Blue Wave are up to 73 percent.

A Blue Wave is defined as winning the House and holding 49 or more seats in the Senate (a pickup of at least 2 counting independents who caucus with Democrats as Democrats).

The Polymarket Odds Democrats Win the House are 83 percent as I type.

Demographics: What’s Going to Matter for Midterms?

  1. Latinos
  2. Youth vote
  3. Independents
  4. Gerrymandering
  5. Enthusiasm

For Republicans, at best #4 is a tie. It will depend on Virginia, Florida, and the final result of dilution issues in Texas.

Democrats are much more excited by this election than Republicans. Low Republican turnout rates to make for a a few unexpected Democrat wins.

Trump started the mid-cycle gerrymandering war with Texas and I believe it backfires to a small degree. But even a few seats matter.

Economy and Other Issues

  1. Inflation
  2. Health Care
  3. Housing
  4. Jobs
  5. Immigration
  6. Border security
  7. Tariffs
  8. Wars
  9. Foreign Policy
  10. Deficit Spending and Budget Priorities
  11. Credit Stress

Republicans may have a slight advantage on #6 but that is tainted by handling of #5. Otherwise, Trump is losing on ten of eleven key issues.

Historically, the incumbent party loses votes in the midterms. And this election there are zero big winning issues for Republicans.

Also mind you the ~40 approval numbers are coming from aggregators that include biased pollsters. Look at APNORC, NBC, and NPR and those numbers drop to the -20s overall spread wise. Senate might be in trouble at this point.

I kind of like the idea of the democrats trying to impeach the Trump cabinet one by one. It removes a bunch of neocons and protectors of child abusers and distracts them from doing anything else. Still wish they would go after Trump.

ridiculous that 40% of the country can approve of this openly corrupt incompetent man child that is hurting everyone at the supermarket and has turned the US into a country where masked men pull US citizens out of cars and beat them for exercising their 1st amendment rights.

and the warehouse for 128M that sold for 29M a couple of years ago is clear corruption. I am 100% sure that part of that money went to Trump or his buddies. why would a warehouse in the middle of nowhere appreciate more than fourfold in a couple of years?

In Precious Metals news it is wise to consider that the Singapore futures market and All Chinese buyers are shut down in observance of the Chinese New Year. This leaves the COMEX, LMBA and Banking Cartel a free hand in driving precious metals and mining company stocks down.

If you are averaging in to positions in this area it may prove to be a good time to pick up shares or other positions.

Beware the futures markets as the COMEX has raised margin requirements six times in the last two months.

listen up kids. a crumbling evil empire is a great thing. look at recent history. when evil empires crumble there is much better times ahead for mankind, within the old empire’s states, and beyond those states………where much killing and bankrupting has occurred. the future in the next 3 years will be tumultuous but in 5 to 10 years, it will be a glorious time as the bust up occurs. we already have state legislatures which can easily provide a democratic/republic within the borders of the 50 state solution. with a tiny veneer of a federal government, like pre 1860. or the current EU. think positive as this is happening. the 20 and 30 somethings will handle this no problem. the geezers might freak out. my experience watching the USSR crumble for the decade of the 90s. and knowing history of the spanish empire before this. hell in spain they celebrate 1898 as the END of their empire. chin up kids. it will be alright. the empire is rotten. time to toss it.

Here is an “out there” missive…

Plantir is processing all of our social data to determine who will fill those detention centers ~ after they run out of immigrants to deport.

One day voices like Mish’s will simply disappear, the next week, it will be people like you or me that simply want to live in a free country, grow healthy food and pay fair wages.

Eventually, Elon’s robots will come for the MAGA thugs that have imprisoned and deported or killed millions. Like toilet seats, MAGA faithful are used, but not respected.

Trump, Musk and all the perverts that protect them will have thousands of young girls to breed into slavery.

Just another cult like the mormons, nazi’s or other disturbed psychopaths. Only this one happened on our watch.

Bondi has declared the Epstein files as “Fully Released”. Not a mention on Fox or NBC about Tump, Musk, Gates, Clinton or the hundreds of powerful perverts that victimized and trafficked those girls.

I love my country, but FEAR its leadership…

FFS frosty, plato taught the world over 2000 years ago, democracy works. so be very careful with it. your friends and neighbors and family………just like mine, are to blame. trump and biden and schumer and johnson are perfect reflections of representative democracy. look in the mirror of all my friends and family to find the real culprits.

Castigating an entire culture via judgement of its leadership is not accurate in my opinion. We in America are constantly fed dis-information by a media network that protects the criminal activity at the highest levels. The fact that our media is not screaming at the top of its lungs for the complete Epstein files is solid evidence of that fact.

Globally, it is again my opinion that people want to be good and gentile in the raising of their children and want humanity to survive for thousands of generations.

Trump or Biden have not represented me or most of the people I associate with. American values are far different than what our government has turned into.

Power has corrupted our nation and entangled our society in a self immolating war against itself. Poor are being polarized against those that gladly lift them up. Teachers are poorly paid while ICE agents are highly paid. Prison guards are hired en-masse while schools have 35-40 students per teacher.

We can and will do better…

We buy into the BS. Trace it back to news becoming salacious due to the mantra “If it bleeds, it leads” which was a saying 40-50 yrs ago when evening local news became sensationalistic garbage. Now almost ALL media is that way. WHY? It’s a marketplace, and we vote with our eyes, clicks, dollars, etc.

WE determine what we are fed. Stop eating this crap? We’ll be fed something different, in their pursuit to restore full profitability.

– Immigration: -12.3 > While some of this is certainly ICE related, the perceived actions Vs. actual actions were not in sync. The expectations, for the worst and most dangerous people to be dealt with first and foremost, isn’t what occurred at all. Anyone and everyone was rounded up, that was determined to be illegally in America. Legally what occurred is spot on as far as the law is concerned, to the best of my knowledge. Perhaps some distinct situations occurred too, but were talking the Majority. A poorly executed plan, with too little communication to stop chaos from resulting.

– Economy: -16.3 > Some could rightfully say that this mess, financially speaking anyway, was handed down to them from the previous administration. They would be right in so many ways, and we don’t even know them all yet, as they are being discovered still. This could also be blamed on every Administration in the past few Decades as well!!! It started to exist a long time ago, and has simply never stopped growing, until now an attempt to do so. We need massive shrinkage in the free flow of Taxpayers Money!

– Trade: -16.9 > The Tariff run has not been pretty so far, but that could change. The worst news will be up front as expected, and we are seeing it slowly turn now. Whether or not that comes to any fruition of Value remains to be seen, but they better hope so. If momentum does not become more consistent, this could all crash and burn in a hurry. Given more time however, it could turn totally around and

– Inflation: -25.1 > That did come via the prior party for a variety of reasons, and some of it was simply poor decision making, and following the wrong group of individuals, but not much has changed. We picked some new ones that are looking a lot like the old ones in their grasp for Tax-dollars!! They better right this ship, before they start losing the plot. It’s been damaged already, so it’s weak.

>> Lots going on before and since, and most everyone is to blame imo. Enough of the ferocious rhetoric and constant finger pointing. All to win an election? To have an even bigger mess in front of you? If we can’t get by a few months without shutting the Government down, or threatening to then we have way more issues and problems than either Party Thinks or even realizes that we definitely do have then!!!

A better and more likely pass would be for Trump to resign for health reasons and Vance to take the top seat.
Clean the cabinet.
Then go hard and fast on indicting a number of senior Dems for fraud and other crimes. Plenty of that in Minnesota that was so blatant.
Also arrest from both parties anyone involved in illegal acts from the Epstein files.
And for illegals enforce the laws on employing them. Need to perp walk hundreds of executives that have let this happen. That loss of jobs will get most illegals to self deport. And that improves both the unemployment rate and the housing availability.

Unfortunately other Neal I have to agree. Trump strong points is that he is great at baiting the retards on the left and more importantly he stopped Cankles and Kneepads from winning.
But beyond that he hasn’t done any of the things he could have done that might have saved the US.
Enforcing the anti trust and anti collusion powers that exist against big pharma, the medical industrial complex and the insurance and Medicare mess. That alone would cut the 20% of GDP that is mostly grift back under 5% as it once was and save families a huge amount.
Enforce existing laws against employing, harbouring and assisting illegals. That alone would improve the housing and employment situation.
And if he wanted something to rally the MAGA crowd just push for much tighter rules on insider trading by congress and use Pelosi as an example.
Maybe also push for easy discharge of student loans in bankruptcy. Then no stupidly priced degrees in black lesbian basket weaving would be signed up for as nobody would lend the money for a degree that qualifies graduated to serve coffee.
So now lots of you are gleeful that Trump has damaged the R party. Hope you enjoy higher taxes and more crime that’s heading your way

Maybe they should actually balance the budget/ legally solve immigration/ reform citizen united / then limit congresses ability to trade on stocks.
Take the ability to make money from the politicians away and most of the representatives disappear. Get some actual public servants both sides of the isle. I may not agree with a lot of bernies policies but when he talks about how the system works hes spot on.

I’d prefer secession to having to live under Harris/ Newsome/ AOC/ Clinton presidency again.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Harris has an illegal to take your job from you.
But I’m sure you won’t mind
Because you’re not a racist

If an illegal can take your job, you deserve to lose it.

If you’re not willing to work for $40/week you deserve to lose your job.
And that is how much I hire workers for . And those workers are happy because I know of others who pay $15/week for a 12-14 hour 6 day week in villages near my home. That is what open borders will eventually give you

Clinton balanced the budget, had a quarter trillion dollar surplus, passed NAFTA and welfare reform.

He was a horse’s ass and unimaginably corrupt, but aren’t they all?

I’d take Clinton over any of the last four presidents,

You may get your wish if HRC gives it another try.
We’ll be bombing Russia immediately, prioritizing transgender rights, BLM, and imposing climate restrictions.
Slick Willy would be thrilled to have access to more women again…if he’s still able to perform…

Heard Hillary on the BBC today being interviewed about Epstein. She didn’t speak very coherently.

It seems like ALL woman politicians are showing poor communication skills these days. AOC, Whitmer, Clinton, Harris. Maybe politics isn’t for women?

i concur. the blue team is as vile as the red team. on your life, one could not pass a blind test as to who has been in power in the past 50 years in executive and legislative. nobody could. literally nobody. the buffoons who keep voting blue or red and think they are different, make me LOL. it makes life in pax dumbfuckistan quite entertaining. lots of intelligent and smart folks fall for the flim flam, as they themselves are just fooling themselves. as the tao te ching advises, to know thyself and face reality is truly wisdom. very small minority in this crumbling evil empire.

Clinton, that lying corrupt scumbag, was better than all his successors thus far.

Much of that was due to his co-opting Gingrich’s agenda after the midterms.

I prefer America, thanks.
One with secure borders.
And national sovereignty.
(Meaning, one not governed by woke Democrats.)

The democrats will win big but not because they are so great but because the regime is so bad
The regime is full of crooked lying greedy war mongering losers and as Max Smart would say “Those are their good points.”

If Trump really tried, he could cut the number of Republicans in Congress “by 1,200, 1,300, 1,400, 1,500 percent” like he did with drug prices.

I earned $10 and was self employed so I paid 15% +35%, so I have $5 to live on but after state and city income taxes, sales tax, property tax and gas tax and imbeded corporate taxes in the products I buy I guess you are correct I only have 3 dollars to bet and take your $18.

no you didnt. if you are in the top tax bracket you aren’t subject to social security taxes, so you can’t pay 35% + 15%.
