Denmark to Kill 17 Million Mink After Covid Mutation Found

Danish Government Will Entire Population of Mink

Officials fear human-to-mink mutations could be resistant to a vaccine and have Ordered Farms to Kill 17 million Mink.

“Studies have shown that the mutations could affect the current candidates for a Covid-19 vaccine,” Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke said in a press briefing Wednesday. At least 12 Danes have been infected with a mutated coronavirus connected to mink, the government said.

Authorities worry that if the problem isn’t addressed, the mink will build a reservoir of a mutated form of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 that could then be passed on to humans, and be impervious to a vaccine. They fear it could set off a new cluster of infections.

“Worst-case scenario is that we have a pandemic that will start all over again, starting from Denmark,” Denmark’s state epidemiologist, Kåre Mølbak, said.

From Animal to Humans

When initial reports of human-to-cat infections came out, scientists doubted the connection, then generally claimed the reverse was unlikely.

Long ago, I asked why?

If the virus could go from bats and camels to humans why couldn’t it spread from humans to other animals and back?

We now know it can.

What ‘s the point of talking minks , when your people(democrats) are celebrating the outcome of the fraudulent election farce ? Many without masks and forgetting about CNN’s recommended social distancing….must be OK for once…moreover Covid will soon be gone with Trump gone…..Yes election fraud is ever so easy but very hard to prove … So congrats with your new president, I d say.

Why would one side commit substantively more fraud than the other?

The miniscule amount of fraud that may occur evens out and is to small to matter in any case.

By the way, doesn’t Belgium have the highest rate of CV infection in the EU now with record hospitalizations?

Were you one of those people who thought the world-wide conspiracy against Trump via CV would go away the day after the election?

How’s that working for you?

You should have told the couple hundred people who died in Belgium yesterday the game was over, and the 12,000 testing positive that the sham was over.

Your country really outdid itself on disloging Trump via the world-wide CV conspiracy—the second highest death rate per million in the world–1079 per million. 12,000 deaths in a country of 11million.

Thanks for all you work in defeating Trump, Belgium!!

First of all they know that Joe has “moments”. Second of all they can’t believe how lax the voting is here. Europe in general have very tight ways of counting votes and they are well aware of how easy fraud is. They don’t recognise what the Democrat Party has become and are becoming wary. The cancel culture movement was snuffed out early because they like their culture and want to keep it so toppling statues are out. Stuffing ballot boxes is very third wold in their opinion and they see that happening. Here you need a confirmed voter ID and be registered well in advanced. They check to see if you are not registered anywhere else in a national database. Every ballot has to be visually checked by all parties which is about five or six pairs of eyes. If there is a discrepancy the voting they redo the local election . Media has to give equal time to all parties. Spending is very controlled and if a party spends too much it is very severely sanctioned enough that that party’s existence can be put into jeopardy. These may seem extreme to you but they know that confidence in the elections are key to democracy. In all, seeing what happened in some states many people I know who are on the left and right see it as a “coup d’etat”. They didn’t like Trump but they were used to him. Now American democracy looks to them like Putin’s Russia. It’s that bad. How will they see Biden in that light when he comes to visit?

Eddie_T
Eddie_T

Reply to  Doug78

Gotta say a couple of things…..this election in particular has shown up some serious problems with the way we run national elections.

It is now completely possible to run these elections from a national database of registered voters and it’s fairly straightforward to make cheating impossible from a practical standpoint….and we should do that. Blockchain is the solution, although I know I’ll get flamed for saying that.

Nothing wrong with requiring ID to vote. It’s requited here in Texas. But there is no reason for these old school state run election machines anymore, and voting in national elections should be done using a modern approach that makes ballot box stuffing impossible.

Will that happen? Hell no. Neither party wants that.

After analysing the vote in Florida Numike, I calculate that at LEAST a million left leaning independents voted for Trump, and after several confrontations at reddit about this I also have concluded that all of them were “progressive” socialist Sanders supporters.

They deny it of course but not usually directly, they like to pull Trump tricks like change the subject and shout but look at what Biden did, or again try to demand that democrats admit to screwing Sanders. Yeah okay, I screwed Sanders by not VOTING for him because he is an angry old communist prick that the very thought of his cadaverous old body in the Oval Office makes me want to retch. So what?

I usually just remind them that socialists are NOT democrats and that they are a parasite on our party, that htey need to get their own. And it would not cost us any votes anyway because they are voting GOP to punish democrats for rejecting their commie old fossil.

There is a lot of evidence that even the youngest and healtiest bodies get it and can die from it. We are in about month 10 and that means we still do not know that much about it. Like why do people with type A blood appear to be so much more suseptible than type O? And age is still the main determinent of serious infection and death. Theree is no way to get older people more resistant just by being relatively healthy for one’s age over 60.

They need to get that vaccine out and while it may be a stop gap with short-term protection that would mean at least 6 months of nearly no new infections. It would give us the breather we need to get caught up. To bring it under control if not exactly stopped. Once we get the infection rates back down we can use non pharma to keep it down. Till there is a better more permanent solution, like a new treatment, or better vaccines.

…half of the 783 cases in humans related to mink…

Early this week, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the government wants to cull all minks on farms to minimise the risk of the weasel-like mammals’ re-transmitting COVID-19 to humans.

“It is very, very serious,” Frederiksen said. “Thus, the mutated virus in minks can have devastating consequences worldwide.”

The problem is any large-scale animal farming at close proximity to humans–pigs, chickens, cattle, elk, deer, and, yes, mink. Chonic wasting disease develope on elk farms in Colorado.

Virtually all flu outbreaks are tied to farm transmission. That’s why the flu researchers go to China rural areas to see next year’s flu as it developing on the farms where humans are in close poximity to animals.

I wouln’t worry so much about wild animals.

What a great idea! Let me ask you. Since the meat is grown in the lab and no animal is killed then there is no reason not to culture meat grown from humans since no human will be killed either. So cannibalism would have no moral quandaries and I could invest in a startup dedicated to bringing human meat to market. We can even get the moral high ground by providing cultured human mean to large predators as payment for our inexcusable past habit of killing and eating animals. What do you think?

Ferrets are the favorite animal used for virus passage (speeding up evolution by selection and fast passaging in ferret hosts) and is one of the main stays of Gain-of-Function research. Besides being able to speed up certain mutations, it also allows one to mask genetically engineered mutations since the virus will evolve to something more aligned with the protein sequences that fit with the host environment.

Although there is a massive push to convince everyone of the natural zoonotic origin of the virus (our punishment for encroaching more and more on the habitat of wild species, so they say — ignoring the possibility that it is precisely forays into this habitat by researchers which could provide a vector for viruses to jump to humans, or to precipitate recombinant events between viruses in human hosts), so far there is little evidence for this a priori plausible possibility, but also a lot of evidence to doubt any natural provenance.
