Chicago police say Jussie Smollett staged attack ‘because he was dissatisfied with his salary’.
Jussie Smollett falsely claimed he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in an effort to boost his “Empire” salary, Chicago police said Thursday.
“This stunt was orchestrated by Smollett because he was dissatisfied with his salary,” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a news conference. “So he concocted a story about being attacked.”
Smollett had claimed to Chicago police last month that two men beat him, tied a rope around his neck and poured an unknown chemical substance on him.
Johnson blasted Smollett on Thursday, telling reporters, “Why would anyone, especially an African-American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile?”
Johnson noted how Smollett’s claims ignited intense media coverage, with everyone from President Trump to several 2020 presidential candidates weighing in on news of the assault.
Smollett, Johnson said, “took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career.”

I’m pretty sure this post doesnt pertain to Global Economic Trend analysis or anything related to economics or the economy.
It highlights the sad state of victim politics today. “It’s a modern day lynching,” as one presidential hopeful put it. Therefore, these types of actions, and their political implications in deciding who may run this country, have economic significance.
He’s an actor. Therefore he’s a liar. Probably a congenital liar. He lives somebody else’s words for a living. He only gets famous if he’s good at it. And only does it for attention and filthy riches. Perhaps this link is not satire and he has a bright future:

He also refused to let the police examine his cell phone, an obvious red flag. Isn’t staging a fake hate crime a hate crime? Jussie made a fool of himself; he wanted fame and boy did he get it, just not the way he hoped.

However, in the days since this began (about late Jan) look at the shooting/murder stats in Chicago.
Just unbelievable this happens daily.

A properly armed populace. Every attempted lynching turning into a gun battle, with a very high probability of death. Both of those instigating it, AND those who happen to play host to them. For the same reason Mutually Assured Destruction kept even crazies like Stalin a comparatively nice and polite guy.
The whole reason people of color were once preyed upon, and lynched, was that they were robbed of the same second amendment protections, that once made America a livable country for whites.
Of course, just as properly armed people are much more difficult to lynch, they are also much more difficult to scare into submission to run amuck government and ambulance chaser classes, with silly tales of childish hobgoblins…..
There’s good and bad here. It’s nice to know that attention seeking charlatans like Smolett can get busted so publicly for stoking the divide and conquer narrative. The Chicago police super gave a nice talk about this. Would also like to believe that the media will, after multiple recent setbacks, stress that allegations are not facts, but I won’t hold my breath.
We’re also witnessing the breakdown of trust in our society and unfortunately it seems like we’re still nowhere near a desire to actually come together rather than keeping score against each other. Not only is the acrimony here to stay, it will keep ramping up with inevitable results.
A hate crime did take place.

They don’t investigate, they don’t look into, they are not curious, they do not try anything fair or balanced. They report every rumor, lie and innuendo as 24/7 FACT in a desperate attempt to DESTROY Trump and his supporters.
The media today (with a few small exceptions) are nothing more than the propaganda arm of the democrat party.
The irony is – they have destroyed themselves.
They are out in the open. Everyone sees them for what they are.
And no one trusts them. Not even those on the left as they know the fake legacy media could turn on them with this slime in a heartbeat.
Not defending him, but at least no one was falsely accused. He should lose his job and pay a hefty fine. Maybe pick up trash in an orange jump suit for a few months.
The fact that this talentless moron was able to achieve a certain level of “celebrity” speaks volumes about the degenerate level of our so-called “popular culture”.
The coming Dark Age will be a huge, much needed improvement.

Why does anybody care about this guy? Aren’t there enough serious problems in this country and this world?
True, but it was the nature of the hoax which included many of the buzz words of identity politics (racist, homophobic, MAGA, lynching, etc.) that made it national news. If we can calm down and investigate allegations before rushing to judgment, maybe people will be less inclined to make these types of false allegations.
The goal here is to drum up the illusion of a need for ever bigger and more intrusive government and ambulance chaser classes. Who must then be ordained as arbiters of who is “good” and “bad,” and hence be given arbitrary discretion to take from some, and hand to others. Taking a fat cut for their “services”, of course….
Each and every outcome being determined by arbitrary government and ambulance chaser fiat, is the ultimate end station of every progressive fantasy. So, to further this goal, the drones must be indoctrinated to play along. To jump when the government says “he did X baaaad thing!!!!!,” or some halfwit in a robe decides that “finding” someone to be un-PC helps further the cause of either himself, or his fellow zero productivity, useless, progressive boat anchors around the ankles of once-was civilized society.
In our environment of 24/7 identity politics, I find a little bit of solace in seeing that not everyone succeeds in exploiting that 100% of the time.
