Our present form of a government controlled by corporations run by 90 day profit results by capitalists is failing. The US is now placing the majority of it’s air force in Israel because so many of the US bases in the Persian Gulf countries are no longer functioning. This includes over 100 refueling planes because our attack planes cannot reach Iran and return to Israel without midair refueling. The fact that this is now the case is an indication of how effective Iran has been in targeting our bases and radar installations throughout the region, forcing us to retreat to Israel. Israel is not particularly happy about this because it will make them a more tempting target for Iranian missiles and drones.
Iran also continues to target and successfully strike ships that attempt the Oman route that the US claims to be protecting. Another failure for the US. Very few ships are now attempting to use the Oman route. Very little oil is now getting out of the Gulf.
The US is now relying more on our airforce to attack Iran because we have burned through so much of our long range missiles. It will take years to replace the long range munitions that we have wasted on this stupid war, leaving our military less able to deal with the defense of our country. That’s why Hegseth is asking for so much more money; to replace all the munitions we have burned through so far.

As the price of oil retreated over the last two months, I dropped from 50% cash to 30% cash, because I was deploying that cash to pick up bargains.
As oil started rising in the last two weeks, I sold some of the bargains I was buying. I always take “some” profits off the table when they appear. I am now at 40% cash (up from 35% last week) as I have been selling a bit into this rally. If the rally continues, I could easily get back to 50% cash as I lock in more profits.
The longer the war continues, the more we run down reserves. Though as I have mentioned before, the US will not suffer oil shortages because we produce almost 14 mbpd and import roughly 5 mbpd from Canada, so we are well supplied with crude oil.
The rest of the world could easily see oil shortages though. And of course with refineries down in Russia and the Persian Gulf, the bigger shortage that is developing is diesel. Russia alone supplies 11% of the world’s diesel and they have banned exports.
It’s impossible to predict “when” different regions of the world might run out of oil, because there are too many variables (China being the biggest variable). But we are much closer to running on empty than we were in February, when we had ample supplies and storage.

It’s said about 7 million barrels a day have been moving south from Yanbu and out through Bab al-Mandab. Trump vows to stop the Houthis from closing this strait, but he had trouble doing that last year.
The Saudi pipeline can send up to 7 mbpd. But Yanbu can only ship out a maximum of 4.7 mbpd. The refinery at Yanbu can also take up to 1 mbpd. And the pipeline can also direct supplies to Ras Tanura, Juaymah, and Jizan.

The strange thing is that only 400 of the 6,000 voted. Why would someone with nefarious intentions go to all of the trouble to get on the voters list and then not vote? It seems like this is more of a bureaucratic bungle than willful voting fraud. How the voters list is put together needs to be investigated.
You must start small, as in most fraudulent acts. You have to test the results, opinions, and who notices if anyone, what’s going on. As you determine safer routes, you again increase and look for examples of notice etc.

It was a glitch in the DMV when they checked NO to the question of “are you a US citizen” the computer system recognized the no as yes or didn’t recognize the answer at all. The number of those registered that actually voted was very small and most likely they didn’t understand that they were ineligible to vote as the were registered. This was not a big effort by non-citizens to corrupt the system.
Why assume small, honest mistakes when you can assume non-white people are out to get you?

What they are saying is that it is impossible to be done on such a scale as to impact the results of an election. It is like Walmart trying to stop shoplifting. Sure they could eliminate shoplifting completely through massive security and locking all their products up and hiring security guards but the cost would too great and you would piss off your customers so badly that the stores would go bankrupt. It is better to live with a few losses.
So in terms of voting you live with a small degree of fraud that you judge does not impact results in exchange for lower costs and a system that does not make it so difficult to vote that people actually do vote. The goal cannot be 100% no fraud as the cost of having an election would be too great and the ability for citizens to vote would get so difficult that few would actually come out to vote.
The trick is to find an appropriate balance.

I used to work with the local Republican Party for elections. We were funded by local business leaders who had sterling amounts of wealth, and always got to pick the winner. They did it by running one of their own. If the locals ran a libertarian or devout Christian, they would just grab a couple of their guys to run as even more libertarian or christian. That would split the vote and the pro-business guy would always win. Simple, not terribly expensive, and always works. But part of the effort is to make it just a little more expensive than some local yahoo is willing to try and fund himself.

I had a similar reaction to what Hegseth was saying. I have a family member who is a quadriplegic as a result of injuries sustained in Iraq nearly 20 years ago.
