Iran Fires 4 Waves of Missiles at Israel, Trump Warns Israel

Trump is really desperate for a deal. His reaction shows it.

Israel Hit Beirut, Iran Retaliated

The Wall Street Journal reports Iran Fires Waves of Missiles at Israel After Israeli Airstrike on Beirut

Iran fired at least four waves of missiles toward Israel on Sunday in response to a deadly Israeli airstrike on Beirut hours earlier targeting the Tehran-backed militants Hezbollah.

The attack marks the first time Iran has targeted Israel since its ceasefire with the U.S. went into force in early April and threatens to escalate a conflict that has been largely contained since then, despite a series of lower-intensity skirmishes.

“The Iranian regime made a serious mistake,” an Israeli military spokesperson said, adding that Israel would continue its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Israel said that it intercepted the Iranian missiles and that there were no reported injuries. Iran warned it would respond with greater force against Israel and its allies should Israel retaliate.

President Trump appeared to be trying to de-escalate the situation, telling reporters at Fox News and Axios that he was pressing Iran and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stand down.

Fox News said Trump told its chief foreign correspondent, Trey Yingst, in an interview, “What I would suggest to Iran: You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough. Get back to the table and make a deal.”

Later, he told the Financial Times that he would dictate the terms of the war to Netanyahu. “I call all the shots,” the British news organization reported Trump said. “He [Netanyahu] doesn’t call the shots.”

In the interview on Fox News on Sunday, Trump said the latest Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon weren’t coordinated with the U.S. But for weeks U.S. officials have said Washington supports Israel defending itself against attacks from the Iranian proxy.

Last week, Trump held a tense call with Netanyahu and demanded that Israel halt strikes in Beirut, amid pressure from Tehran to end Israeli operations against Hezbollah, an Iranian ally. Netanyahu agreed but said any more direct attacks on Israeli territory by Hezbollah would be met with attacks on Beirut.

Who’s Calling the Shots?

Iranian Official

Iranian official says, “At this point, reaching an agreement [with Trump] is not really feasible.”

“The primary person responsible for the current situation is Donald Trump himself,” the Iranian official told me, referring to Israel’s massive escalation in its attacks against Lebanon and Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Israel.

“Should Israel carry out another attack on Beirut in the coming days, missiles will immediately target areas within the occupied territories in retaliation,” the official said.

“For nearly 20 days, the draft of a potential agreement has been on [Trump’s] desk,” said the official, adding that Trump is “driven by his fear of the Israeli lobby and his hope that the naval blockade plan will prove effective.” “Iran will no longer accept or tolerate his current position.”

The two central issues the official emphasized are: Israel’s war against Lebanon and expanded occupation of the south; and Trump’s refusal to unfreeze Iranian funds for reconstruction.

Netanyahu Not My Boss

I need to make a note here.

Note: Trump says “Netanyahu not my boss.”

Israel Spying on the US

Iran’s Demand

Humiliation for Whom?

Answer: Trump

The Last Word

Bottom Line

Trump is really desperate for a deal.

If Trump wanted to escalate, Iran gave Trump every reason.

For discussion, please see Trump Keeps Testing the Iran Ceasefire but Does Not Want to Break it. Why?

I stick with my assessment. Trump will eventually make a deal suitable to Iran, nothing like Trump demanded.

It must be one of 7 days of the week, as Trump is looking stupid, like every day.

We all can see Vice-President Trump is outranked by President-For-Life Netanyahu and has no choice but to follow orders.

Trump told the Financial times today that he will demand that Netanyahu not retaliate against Iran. “He won’t have any choice, I call the shots. I call all the shots. He doesn’t call the shots.”

Netanyahu just bombed three Iranian cities after Trump told him not to. Utterly humiliating how the world knows Donald is Mr. Netanyahu’s little bitch.

If Trump had any balls whatsoever he would immediately cut off all support to Israel, recall our ambassador, and kick the Israeli’s out of the embassies in the U.S. is not gonna happen so buckle up for the greater depression. Gonna be a race to the Stone Age in the Middle East and that incudes Israel..

Forget about social security and Medicare, it’s about to go up in smoke.

“If Trump had any balls whatsoever…”

This assumes Trump doesn’t agree with Israel in that Iran’s leaders shouldn’t lead, but if they do they must submit.

If they didn’t agree we wouldn’t here, and now that we are neither is yet ready to bow. And if they don’t back each other neither walk away with anything.

Some may call this a partnership of convenience others may call it making a pact with the devil.

When Israel fires on Hezbollah or Iran, Trump is the “good cop”. When Trump negotiates, he is the “bad cop.”

Israel and Iran still firing at each other. Yet JP Morgan and others keep saying the strait will be fully open this month. LOL!

At what point will these folks realize the strait is unlikely to ever fully reopen as it was before the war began.

As always, there is nothing I can do about what is happening in this war. Other than to take advantage of the trading opportunities it is providing.

“Israeli military launches retaliatory strikes on Iran after attacks on northern Israel”

https://www.bbc.com/news/live/clyengg72pgt

Don’t be fooled both Israel and Trump want Iran to bend. The biggest cover is one that’s steeped in religious warfare spanning 80+ years in modern times and going all the way back for at least another 1k years.

Also any country that gets attacked, regardless if that attack was in retaliation, has a right to respond as they see fit. That’s just one element of what sovereignty means. So no Israel doesn’t call the shots – this was planned and thus both Trump and Israel are in on it.

““What I would suggest to Iran: You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough. Get back to the table and make a deal.”

This, IMO, proves Trump isn’t willing to be the one to bow, and he’s using Israel to pressure them to get back to the table.

There’s no other way it can be. Do you remember when it was told to Trump last week that Israel was bombing Lebanon and Trump said he didn’t know that Israel was bombing Lebanon. The bombing was at a full week when Trump said that, and right after Iran said no more.

People like to go on about how Trump was duped by Israel. The truth is both need each other and will cover for each regardless of the outcome, but you can bet that both Trump and Israel want the same thing in the end, and will use force to get it.

But I’m sure come Monday the hopium will flow on some BS Trump says about getting little Satan back under the wing of Big Satan, that a deal is back on, and the ceasefire wasn’t broken. Only to rinse and repeate this on again off again aggression of escalation until someone bows. All the while Hormuz stays closed.

Yes but how much have they risen DURING the “skirmish”?
I’ll help: Kospi +21.5% since Operation Epic Fury. +82% Last 6 Months
Nikkei +8.8% since Operation Epic Fury, +26.5% Last 6 months
SP500, etc…none of them have properly discounted “war” as markets have historically done

Measuring policy by how the markets respond is a bad way to run a country. However, the comment and this president and a lot of folks I know now do so because they are complicit by being heavily invested in said markets.

What a cocked hat we have. The algos trade on the headline fodder on the daily, today is no different.
