It’s OK to Say “Gay” But Please Don’t Use Offensive Words Like “Boy” or “Girl”

Sign paid for by the Southern Progress Pac from its website.

On Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law a controversial law dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

It’s OK to say gay. It’s more than OK. It’s encouraged,” Ally Sammarco, a volunteer for the PAC, told NBC affiliate WESH of Winter Park

What Does the Bill Really Do?

The law goes into effect starting July 1. It’s actually called the “Parental Rights in Education” Law.

The seven pages never mention the word gay.

The most controversial measure states “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

President Biden Calls the Bill Hateful

Offensive Words Like “Boy” or “Girl”

Extreme liberals want to teach first graders about being gay, and encourage the use of the word gay.

But please don’t use offensive terms like boy and girl.

Disney leads the way.

The company has eliminated all mentions of “ladies,” “gentlemen,” “boys,” and “girls” in its theme parks in order to create “that magical moment” for children who do not identify with traditional gender roles.

Magical Moment

Yes “folks” we have arrived at that magical moment in Florida where it’s OK to say gay but not boy. It’s also OK to say lesbian but not girl.

The words boy and girl are clearly offensive but gay and lesbian aren’t.

Hopefully, the irony of this asinine development sinks in to those who wish to remove all gender references, but don’t hold your breath earthlings.

There is a long tradition in higher education of ‘academic freedom.’ IMHO, academic freedom associates with giving tenure–which used to be given to those faculty whose research and other contributions fell outside the mainstream–essentially a protection for creativity and risk taking that drive society forward. In the traditional view of tenure (as protection for innovation) only a very small percentage of faculty would be tenured.
Currently, academic freedom is abused mostly by progressives, by stifling contrary debate and limiting hiring/tenure to people who think as they do–the EXACT opposite of what healthy forward-looking education should be.
Now, to what extent should teachers of young children have ‘academic freedom’ and ‘tenure’? Well, it depends. A teacher who is truly searching for better ways to teach, rethinking curricula, doing research in ADHD and teaching… Very few, if any of today’s teachers qualify.
Therein lies the problem. Education (at all levels) in the US is failing miserably, using methods/philosophies of the early industrial age (efficiency and management theories of Weber, Fayol etc). Experimentation and risk-taking, the key to innovation, NO LONGER EXISTS. Now, it is all about competing sociopolitical agendas.

/alt-market.us/leftists-are-angry-about-the-florida-anti-grooming-law-because-they-want-your-children/

By Brandon Smith

Why would someone be enraged by a law that prevents teachers from
exposing children to sexual indoctrination and demands parents are kept
in the loop on classroom lessons? It’s obvious; they’re mad because they
like the idea of grooming kids and they don’t want the process
interfered with in any way.

First, however, I think we need to understand what grooming really
is, and it’s not only about sex. One of the most pervasive cancers
within our society today is social justice based communism. In every way
the ideology is predicated on lies and disinformation, but this deceit
is merely a tool to achieve an end goal – The reeducation or
brainwashing of future generations into the leftist fold.

LOL. Conservatives are so afraid that children are going to choose their sexuality but the truth is it isn’t something you choose. You can’t be programmed or reprogrammed either. This is why the suicide rate amongst children who look like one gender but actually feel like another is like 90%. I am reminded of the Republican Ohio congressman who for decades railed against gays and lesbians and then one day his son came out of the closet and announced he was gay. The congressman was so embarrassed by his own values that he changed them to accept his son and admitted he was wrong and had been wrong about everything he ever said about gays or lesbians. I feel bad for any kid that looks like one gender but actually feels like the other because that child, even in 2022, has only about a 10% chance of NOT committing suicide. Pretty sure the suicide rate is also higher amongst children who are gay or lesbian as well.

The important point is that no speech, by anyone, about anyone, should be, in any way, ever, at all, restricted by any Government. Period.
Conservative vs Liberal has exactly nothing to do with it whatsoever, and is just obfuscation employed to fool the stupid and gullible into accepting government has any, whatsoever, legitimate role in restricting, nor even being aware of, speech. They don’t. Ever. Without ANY exception.

Nonsense. Your freedom of speech does not apply. It is a constitutional protection against government.

Yes. Exactly. Government. Ambulance chasers themselves can safely be ignored. It’s only once government gets involved in the speech suppression, that it becomes problematic.

90%? That’s absurd. Do you have any data to back that up?
I assume you have no kids, because no parent would want their kids taught this nonsense in school. And no parent anywhere in the entire world is happy to hear their child is gay and would do anything they could to prevent it.

It absolutely is something you chose, at least most people.
I’m sure by now you’ve seen that 20 percent of those born after 2005 now identify as LGBTQ vs. just 1% 20 years before that.
That’s absolute evidence that people have a choice in the matter and are being socially groomed and pushed into these decisions. And your 90% suicide rate is absolute nonsense. If anything, if that stat is true (and it isn’t) then we absolutely need to shy away from social pressure to be LGBTQ and stop this nonsense. If 90% commit suicide then by all means, let’s stop the trans nonsense.

The hypocrisy of the left emerges. While you are right about the suicide rates, and that most of them are caused by lack of acceptance by family and friends, let’s consider the following conjecture:
With the discovery that sexual orientation is genetic, a fetal test is developed. Parents abort their gay babies. Now, what does the left do about it?

Nope.
Most ppl just dont want adults talking to little kids about sexual matters.
You say sexuality cant be programmed, but feelings can be manipulated, including the “feeling” of being the “wrong” gender.
That’s what this bill aims to stop.

Gendered pronouns are superfluous for the most part. You don’t need to state somebody’s gender in almost every sentence. Spanish gives genders to nouns, which is even more useless.
I’m going to start using “it” universally. Have referred to peoples kids that way in the past and it generally provokes an amusing reaction. Now if they get mad I am justified by my wokeness.

Pretty spot on. This stuff belongs in sex Ed later on. Of course if they manage to eliminate sex Ed altogether…
Many parents don’t tell their kids what they need to know, same as with financial education.

The problem is those kids whose parents have a limited world view and strong beliefs/values with a religious focus. Usually with closed-minded education and experiences, they force their children into their idealized self-image, effectively consigning their offspring to unhappiness until they are able to break away.
The fact is too many young people are suicidal (many with complex sexual issues and unsupportive homes), and social media is making it worse as more and more communication occurs outside the home in unsupervised channels.
That said, ramming ‘gender variations’ into early education is not a good idea. What is needed is not what is happening. There are closed minds on both sides, and having politicized the issue, critical thinking stops.

worse. German & Latin (&Greek) have a neuter. And Greek has a dual form (in addition to single/plural), and there is evidence that Latin used to have.
Some heavily inflected languages show far more gender & number ‘cases’, often reflecting extra nuances in the social structure (like which side of the family you are from). Some languages even show important languages differences between men & women.

Since this is an economic and investing blog perhaps were should be looking at whether gay of straight people are better at investing. Additionally we should be judging which part of the LGBT+ spectrum is better at accumulating wealth and comparing them to those who generate wealth. If those here are not willing to do these comparisons and judgments then why in the hell are we even talking about it? What we could do is speculate who here is gay, straight, transsexual, pansexual, asexual and so forth by the content of their comments and call them by what we perceive to be their sexual orientation and not by what they say. It would make a livelier discussion by volume if not by content and would certainly send the number of comments over the two hundred mark. Although in in my darker moments that would give a certain pleasure to call those who disagree with me by true although derogatory names in my more lucid moments I believe that that would be counterproductive. Can we please talk about something more applicable to making and losing money by investing?

A timely reminder to Democrats: In the 1960s, Florida was the home of the Florida Legislative Investigation Committee, aka Johns Committee (see here: link to en.wikipedia.org), led by Democrat Charles Johns.
The reaction to “Parental Rights in Education” Law is another con-job by the ‘self-righteous’ Democrap party. They need to apologize (and pay reparations) to the many faculty and students whose lives they ruined.
You can’t not know history!
The best and current estimate of active homosexuals in Florida is 60,000
individuals. The plain fact of the matter is that a great many
homosexuals have an insatiable appetite for sexual activities and find
special gratification in the recruitment to their ranks of youth. The
homosexual’s goal is to “bring over” the young person, to hook him for
homosexuality. A veteran investigator of homosexual activities… said,
“We must do everything in our power to create one thing in the minds of
every homosexual and that is to keep their hands off our children. …if
we don’t act soon we will wake up some morning and find they are too big
to fight. They may be already. I hope not.” We hope that many citizen
organizations in Florida will use this report… to prepare their children
to meet the temptations of homosexuality lurking today in the vicinity
of nearly every institution of learning.

FYI, I was unable to add quotation marks and explain its inclusion in my comment before my editing time expired. I was appalled when I read the passage, more so because I know someone who was affected by the Johns Committee.
The passage is directly quoted from the report of the John’s Committee in 1964: Homosexuality and Citizenship in Florida, informally called “the Purple Pamphlet”

Actually, there is far more evidence (though not conclusive) for being born gay than for lesbian … lesbian is often rather fluid during the course of lifetime.
Whereas there seems to be some evidence for physical correlates to being gay (although hard to say if they are genetic or epigenetic), no corresponding phenomena for lesbians. One might also wonder whether lesbian & gay are in fact parallel or homologous ‘states’.
