New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) issued an emergency executive order that restricts bus arrivals in the city to curb the migrant surge as more asylum-seekers are sent via bus from Texas.

- Bus identification
- Drop off must be scheduled at designated locations during specific hours
Those items seem like minor inconveniences vs trying to house them in the border states. Besides, there’s always Chicago, Denver, or San Francisco.

“New York City has begun to see another surge of migrants arriving, and we expect this to intensify over the coming days as a result of Texas Governor Abbott’s cruel and inhumane politics,” Adams said in a statement this week.
Adams said 14 “rogue buses” arrived from Texas on a single night last week, which is the highest one-day total recorded by city officials.

Adams said his executive order will help the city manage the incoming migrants “in an orderly way.”

I am not in favor of deporting persons who have been living and working productively in the US for years. We still have trouble filling some jobs.
Deporting millions of productive people as Trump threatens to do is economically stupid and morally unjust. How would that even work? Deport to where? How?
At the same time, we do need control over the process. Currently, there is no process at all.
Somewhere between doing nothing and deporting everyone, there is a reasonable set of actions.
But does either party want a compromise? I fear not. Politics and campaign issues are far more important it seems than solutions.

I like the idea of going after the root causes. The approach would be similar to tackling drug problems by going after the sellers and those who recklessly prescribe. Go after the corruption. Shut-down the non-profits behind this.

Need to make the illegals self deport. E-verify needs to be enforced on all job hiring. Hire a crew to clean your yard then verify them first. Make the penalty for hiring illegals at least 10k per person so a crew of wetbacks might cost a 50 grand fine. Same with rent agreements, car hire or purchase, opening a bank account, wiring money overseas etc. And make it a felony for anyone to wire money or rent a place on behalf of an illegal.
Once most illegals give up and leave then it will be easier to concentrate on rooting out those remaining. My compromise is all immigrants shall originate from US Embassies, have a 4 year STEM degree, speak English proficiently, and pay $50K application fee per person. Obviously children are exempt from the STEM requirement. Children are exempt from the English requirement up to the age of 12. Parents with children who speak no English will have to learn English in their first two years, but not at the taxpayer expense.

If you want your tax dollars to the US government to protect the border of the country you live in, move to South Korea.
The border is 1951 miles long and that’s just the land part. So you have to patrol the water parts too and of course check for tunnels (there are lots of tunnels used by smugglers).
1951 miles at 5280 ft per mile is 10,301,280 ft. If you have one soldier ever 300 ft (100 yards) you need 34337 soldiers. At 8 hr shifts a day you need 34337*3=103012 full time soldiers standing guard. Plus an equal number of officers and other personnel behind them as ‘staff’. In other words we’d need probably 250K soldiers standing guard on the southern border. Plus of course more patrolling the water and looking for tunnels.
Doesn’t seem particularly easy and definitely not ‘cheap’.

The DNC convention is in Chicago this year. I can see a FLOOD of busses coming before and during the convention. These mayors are asking for immediate work permits. I wouldn’t bet on Crooked Joe being the Dems nominee. He might well drop out after the primaries are over and release his delegates to vote “freely” (as long as it coincides with the DNC’s anointed nominee). The DNC-controlled Superdelegates will account for 1/3 of all delegates, so some of Crooked Joe’s would ensure a DNC-approved nominee is selected.
You’re probably asking what have I been smoking or drinking, but consider that Crooked Joe faces a stiff challenge from RFK Jr in many states, and will also likely face-off against Joe Manchin. LBJ faced a similar set of circumstances in 1968 and dropped out. But the real reason has to do with the net that’s slowly enveloping all members of the Biden Crime Family – Crooked Joe, Hunter, Jim, Frankie and Ashley (there may be others). Faced with a likely impeachment vote, Hunter’s numerous indictment, his daughter’s tax violations and several pending charges for Jim and Frankie, Joke may decide to resign in favor of Kamala on the understanding that she not seek the nomination (not that she’d have a snowball’s chance of getting it) and as a quid pro quo for her temporary glory, the Biden Crime Family is issued a full pardon for any Federal charges against its members. Better this than to take your chances on the likely fierce vengeance of the Orange Man in his second term.
As for the Dems nominee, it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s Slick Gavin Newsom (aka Nancy Pelosi’s nephew) and Michelle Obama. They’d be more competitive than Crooked Joe, but it won’t be enough to defeat Trump in a race where third parties are apt to take the highest percentage of the vote since TR ran against Taft and Wilson in 1912 (after which we got the Fed and IRS in 1913, and another European war in 1917). Don’t be surprised if RFK Jr, Manchin, Jill Stein/Greens, Cornel West and the Libertarians take a combined 25% or more in 2024 (Ross Perot got 19% in 1992 and cost Bush the Elder the election). With Trump’s strong base, it’s hard to see him losing even if he’s incarcerated on Election Day in Nov’24.
I don’t believe Biden will be the nominee. He will drop out right before the DNC convention and pardon everyone in his family. I think Newsom will be the Democract nominee unless Michelle Obama steps up.
Newsom would be a terrible candidate at this time. He can’t deliver any of the swing states they need. He can deliver California but that’s already a guaranteed state for the Dems anyway.
Michelle would be a lot more useful since she would pick up the women’s and Black vote.
