Politicians Beware: It’s Best Not to Deliver What You Actually Promise.

Protest Underway

A ‘gilets jaunes’ (yellow vests) protest is underway in France.

The Financial Times reports French ‘gilets jaunes’ show pain of Macron’s tax policy.

The pain is easily condensed down to this chart.

Macron Promised a Revolution

Did not Macron deliver his campaign pledge on a new French revolution?

Why should anyone be upset?

Promise Delivered

In a campaign rarity, please note Promise Delivered: Macron Promised a Revolution, He Got One, Against Himself

Fancy that. A politician actually delivered his promise and people are upset.

Hundreds were arrested and fires burn as the ‘gilets jaunes’ (yellow vests) protest movement against Macron escalates.

More Europe, More Solidarity, More Taxes

Macron promised more Europe, more solidarity, and more taxes. He delivered!

Please consider Promise Delivered: Macron Promised a Revolution, He Got One, Against Himself

Campaign Pledge Delivered

Macron delivered his main campaign pledge.

And now the masses are upset.

Why?

  • They wanted more solidarity for themselves not others
  • They wanted tax hikes on others, not themselves
  • They wanted “more Europe” in theory but not in practice
  • They want a government attack on global warming, but not if they have to pay for it!

Inferno

Kudos Offered

The “Inferno” chart courtesy of DOMINIC LAWSON: Why it’s hard not to gloat at the travails of the strutting French president who called Brexiteers liars.

Amazing Performance

Macron actually delivered on his campaign pledges. Yes, that’s quite amazing, especially his promise of a revolution.

Kudos offered. But here are the results.

25%?!

25%? Excuse me.

Pardon, the error. That’s not quite accurate.

In actuality, Macron’s popularity hits new low amid French protests.

Macron’s approval rating fell to 23 percent in the poll conducted late last week, down six points on the previous month. Philippe’s rating fell 10 points to 26 percent.

The president’s score matches the low charted by his predecessor Francois Hollande in late 2013, according to Paris Match. Hollande was then considered to be the least popular leader in modern French history.

As long as it’s delivered by an EV charged from renewable energy sources. Otherwise, they eat dirt.

In California, the leftists in control of the state government imposed a similarly high increase in gas taxes, as well as a big increase in already high registration fees. The Sheeple had the opportunity to simply vote it down in a binding referendum in November. Sacramento put a misleading title on the referendum and the moron majority voted to retain the taxes & fees. If you want to watch a movie about California, watch “Idiocracy”.

The structure of the referendum also played into voter’s ignorance. The default of many people is to vote “No” on propositions and the government knows that. In order to get the repeal on Prop 6 you had to vote “Yes.” I voted yes, but am not surprised by the result.

You’re right, the title was also very misleading. If the correct title – Gas Tax to Fund Infrastructure Repair because Current Taxes Needed for Pension Funding – was used, it would have passed. The commercials on the radio against repeal were nauseating. “CHP and Fire Officials in support of public safety urge you to vote no.” Without the follow-up: how else can we fix the roads and fund six figure pensions?

A high unemployment rate is bad if you want to avoid protests. Not only are people mad because they can’t find work, they also have nothing better to do than protest.

Many of those unemployed are taking high unemployment benefits.

French unemployment benefits system is the craziest and most generous in EU for 2-3 years after you become unemployed so people take a 2-3 year government paid holiday when they become unemployed if they can not find a job that pays much more than their unemployment benefits.

At the same time France also complains of a worker shortage for low paid jobs and instead of fixing this by companies raising wages in low paid jobs France has imported millions upon millions of Africans from former French colonies who work really hard until they have a permanent residence permit and while working they also bring their wife and kids to France and after the whole family is in France they do like many French people aka become unemployed and enjoy a 2-3 year holiday paid by unemployment benefits.

Once you have many kids in France you will live equally well on welfare benefits than by working hard in a low wage job even after you have dropped from the generous 2-3 year unemployment benefits.

France basically has had a government policy encouraging replacement of French with Africans by letting millions upon millions of Africans from former French colonies to move to France easily and then basically giving them a choice of either working hard in a low wage job or making many babies and living first unemployed 2-3 years and then on welfare benefits that keep increasing when you have more kids.

More importantly, he actually got what he asked for!
