San Francisco Prosecutors Quit, Residents Fed Up With ‘Zero Consequence’ Policies

California Decriminalized Shoplifting

On October 23, I commented California Decriminalized Shoplifting for Amounts Under $950, Guess What Happened

I noted Walgreens closed 22 stores in San Francisco where thefts under $950 are effectively decriminalized.

A couple of readers asked “Why just San Francisco?” if it was California Proposition 47 that put the $950 limit on nonviolent misdemeanors.

The answer is total lack of enforcement in San Francisco.

San Francisco DA Faces Second Recall Effort

Please note San Francisco DA faces second recall effort as residents ‘fed up’ with progressive ‘zero consequence’ policies.

A second recall effort launched against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin demonstrates how residents are “fed up” with his progressive policies, as his push to reduce jail funding and refusal to prosecute repeat offenders ensures the streets remain marred with open-air drug dealing and violent crime now stretching into the suburbs, a leader of the prominent local police union tells Fox News.

Last week, the first Republican-backed recall effort fell just 1,714 signatures short of the 51,325 required to trigger a special election to bring the question of ousting Boudin before voters. Now a second recall effort is being organized, which Boudin brushed off Monday night as proof that his so-called successes in reducing incarceration has “angered the billionaire class.”

But it’s his progressive approach that’s actually hurting average San Franciscans, San Francisco Police Officers Association President Tony Montoya tells Fox News, as Boudin’s “swiftest revolving door in criminal justice” sends the message to offenders that there are no consequences for their actions.

Addressing the two recall efforts during his tenure, Boudin participated in a national organizing call for the campaign group “Our Revolution,” which was advertised as “celebrating 5 years of electing progressive champions from coast to coast.”

“But it’s also angered the ruling class, it’s also angered the billionaire class,” he continued. “And that’s why in San Francisco they organized not one, but two separate recall campaigns to try to get me kicked out of office before I’m even halfway through with my term.”

San Francisco Prosecutors Quit

Please note San Francisco prosecutors quit progressive DA Chesa Boudin’s office, join recall effort.

Prosecutors Brooke Jenkins and Don Du Bain told KNTV they have stepped down from their posts in San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin’s office due to his lack of commitment to prosecuting crimes.

“Chesa has a radical approach that involves not charging crime in the first place and simply releasing individuals with no rehabilitation and putting them in positions where they are simply more likely to re-offend,” Jenkins said in the interview. “Being an African American and Latino woman, I would wholeheartedly agree that the criminal justice system needs a lot of work, but when you are a district attorney, your job is to have balance.”

Du Bain added that he believed Boudin “disregards the laws that he doesn’t like, and he disregards the court decisions that he doesn’t like to impose his own version of what he believes is just – and that’s not the job of the district attorney.”

Boudin drew criticism earlier this year when a parolee back on the streets due to his office’s actions killed two pedestrians after running a red light in a stolen car.

Police say Troy McAlister, 45, was intoxicated when he ran a red light in a stolen car, killing Elizabeth Platt, 60, and Hanako Abe, 27. The San Francisco police officers union says a plea agreement for a robbery set McAlister free on parole in April and that Boudin’s office failed to prosecute McAlister’s multiple arrests in the aftermath, including one Dec. 20 for alleged car theft.

A California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokeswoman told The Associated Press that McAlister has been incarcerated in state prisons numerous times. In April 2020, he was sentenced in San Francisco County to five years for second-degree robbery and was released on parole for time served.

Du Bain said that in one specific case, he was ordered by Boudin to request a more lenient sentence for a man convicted of shooting his girlfriend.

Processive Madness

School boards, crime, racist college admissions that favor blacks who cannot read, and critical race theory crammed down kids throats are all part of the extreme Left madness sweeping the country.

In February, I noted Coca Cola Confirms Training Employees ‘Try To Be Less White’

In July, I commented Critical Race Theory Should Be Banned, and a Black Parent Explains Why

“Educators use CRT as their own agenda, to indoctrinate the kids to hate each other,” said one black parent to a rousing round of applause at a school board meeting.

In May I noted College Entrance Exam SAT Score Racial Profiling: 964=1223

To compensate for the fact that Blacks score lower on average than Asians and Whites, SAT to Give Students ‘Adversity Score’.

“Dear criminals, if you want to commit a crime and get away with it, San Francisco is the place to be.”
Not really.
As soon as anyone living there hint at adding a single square foot to their place, in order to help out someone who currently can’t afford to live in SF by adding a bit to housing supply; you can guarantee the totalitarian rabble gets all manners of fired up. And double down on the chant which idiots the world over have been told to uncritically pump their fists to: “It’s The Law!!!!”
Pretty much the de facto operational definition of Progressivism, is that everything should be banned. Then the privileged party members can “deem” and “find” and “hold” and “feel” and “decide” and “judge” who should be “held accountable” for whatever nonsense is the party members’ fancy du jour. Entirely arbitrary, of course. While, being the illiterate idiots that they to a person are, they can be counted on to still keep babbling nonsensically about “Rule of Law!” And, lo and behold, the equally illiterate morons who like to preen around claiming to be “against” progressivism, can be counted on to fall for it. Every.Single.Time. As it never goes deeper than that childish, pointless and meaningless slogan: “It’s The Law!!!” Makes the dunces feel tough, I suppose.
It’s the same story with that other progressive wet dream: Every financial outcome should come down to The State, its central bank and coquetry of kangaroo “courts.”
Didn’t work in the Soviet Union, didn’t work under Mao, didn’t work out for Fidel, nor for Mussolini nor Peron… In fact, never did work out at all. But once the idiocy have ran far enough for long enough, as it has in the West by now, the fact that something cannot, even theoretically, work; is no longer much of an impediment to keep trying. Since the only ones left in much of a position to decide, are by then an undifferentiated mass of rank idiots, who own all they have to nothing other than just that: Fed largesse, arbitrary “rulings” favoring friends of The Fed, and Party membership. Anyone more competent has already been robbed to the point they no longer have the resources to put up much of a fight. Leaving the idiots free reign, to be all the idiots which is all their (lack of) aptitude affords them to be.

This is all top down conspiracy.  There’s plans afoot to degrade the metropolitan areas into cesspools.  they think it will trigger “white flight” of the 50s and, given that they’ve rewound the tape to the 50s, spark a manufacturing boom in the suburbs given that there’s nothing to do in the suburbs than crank the machine so to speak.
To do this they’ve enlisted police unions (covid), courts (covid) and ultra fake liberal minority leaders who go around proclaiming crime is love from their gated communities and bentleys.

What happened to destroy black neighborhoods? I remember 1977, when Harlem was being burned to the ground for no other reason than the City would provide free hotel accommodation to fire victims. Sure, there was a rash of graffiti, trash on the sidewalks, and busted windows before the buildings caught fire. Any farther up than 125th Street wasn’t safe, and you took your life in your hands crossing Morningside Park.  Wherever you looked there was abundant drugs and crime; even child prostitutes hanging out on 42nd Street. Was there a lack of jobs for the largely unskilled workers who lived there; or not enough welfare? Education was a little better than the shoddy indoctrination that now pretends to be education…
What I do know is that beginning in 1994,  Giuliani turned the city around. Since then, all fixes have failed. it is obvious that throwing money at the problem is throwing money into the cesspool, and worse. Also obvious, democrats have made it worse, never better.
And now, the people who are part of, or even caused the problems, are in charge of the neighborhoods, and the gutless democrats want fewer police. Honestly, I don’t think it’s a conspiracy. I think is sheer incompetence of politicians who pretend to care, but are more interested in lining their own pockets.

A few months back when Walgreens announced the store closings and characterized them as a result of too much shoplifting, a member of the city Board of Supervisors said to the effect that Walgreens should be able to tolerate rampant shoplifting because the neighborhood needed the store!
SF is not the only city having this problem.  Some grocery store closed I think in the Baltimore area, which generated a tear jerker NYT story about how the oh so poor people of that area would now have their already limited shopping venues further reduced.  I suggested in a comment to that story that actions have consequences and that perhaps the parents should have taught their kids that if they shoplifted from local stores, they might close, thus potentially harming the community significantly.  There were a surprising number of NYT commenters who agreed.

Interestingly, when I try to reply to one commenter, I am unable to post; yet when I reply to a different commenter, my comment is immediately accepted.  To be sure, I have responded to said commenter a number of times, always in the pursuit of intellectual honesty, so perhaps this is blocking, or maybe I have been reported for thinking critically. Still, it seems like ‘censorship’, doesn’t it?
The comment I was going to post was this:
‘Now Pee-NO, you know it ain’t so. You know as well as I do that Trump was attacked by the media before he even took office. You also know that the media and its democrat lackeys rushed to stop anything Trump suggested, tying him up in courts at every opportunity, whether blocking international travel for the Wuhan flu, impeding illegal immigration, etc.  Then, came the impeachments, arbitrary and capricious, and all about discrediting him for things he didn’t do, or did do with justification. The prime example, Ukraine, where the Hunter Biden laptop is PROOF, the Biden’s were on the take in Ukraine and elsewhere.
So Pee-NO, money does not stink, but your ability to look at both sides and make fair judgements sure does.’

Walgreens lawyers need to get some B*LLs and actually defend their security guys when they grab someone for stealing. Then when the lawsuit is filed and if the community awards the plaintiff a large award against walgreens, they should shut down all the stores in SF.

What is teaching white kids they are responsible for the failures of other races to engage in our society in a useful manner?
CRT, BY DEFINITION: ‘… is a movement that challenges the ability of conventional legal
strategies to deliver social and economic justice and specifically calls
for legal approaches that take into consideration race as a nexus of American life.’
Why is CRT being taught in elementary, junior high, and high school? Sounds like it belongs in LAW SCHOOL.
So lets be honest about CRT. It is ‘legitimized’ propaganda purporting to be an academic discipline.

I find this comment very bewildering. What is being taught is less about the facts (the Civil War lasted from… between the North and the South… Jim Crow laws were proposed by southern democrats etc), than a politically biased perspective impinging upon a reasonable understanding of actually happened.
Here is an example. I have no reason to believe it is NOT true: ‘Californian third-graders were made to “deconstruct” their racial
identity and rank themselves according to their “power and privilege” in
school.’ The teachers told students they lived in a “dominant culture” of “white, middle class, cisgender, educated, able-bodied, Christian, English speakers.”
Now, presented one way, it is a simple statement of fact and helps to build awareness of the issues. Presented in a different perspective–we are all equal, but white kids are more equal than others–it builds guilt complexes and self loathing, and lowers self esteem.
One way, it is educational; the other way is propaganda. I hope you know which is which.

Banning critical race theory, or any form of thought/philosophy is antithetical to freedom of speech. The appropriate response to speech you do not agree with, is more speech, not less. The educational emphasis should be on teaching critical thinking, and then analyzing the (very flawed) precepts and principles of CRT, so that is NOT institutionalized propaganda.  Red state legislatures can pass legislation that allows parents to sit in on all classes.  The madness/indoctrination will end quickly, however, the elephant in the classroom is a generation of (very flawed) teachers who are generally incapable of critical thinking.
Education in the USA is at a dismal low, and rapidly declining. Maybe it is time to close the US Department of Education, and  most state departments. Replace what is failing with ‘school vouchers’ and enable innovative education systems.

I agree with all of your points, but I’m not sure that we should let teachers indoctrinate children on race, and then hope that someone is there to check them on it.  The teachers will simply wait until no one is around and then they will have that “important discussion about privilege.”
You cannot be “high-minded” with Progressives.  They need to be attacked the same way they attack us, which is to try and shut us down.  The high road only takes us to loser-ville.
Many teachers now believe that their profession is a “cause” and therefore requires them to go above and beyond to complete the mission.  These are the same people that protest, march, chase politicians and scream at the top of their lungs when an election doesn’t go the way they like.  They are single, and they have a lot of free time.  You can bet they are not going to keep their jobs and their “free time” separate.
It doesn’t help that their unions have become Progressive political organizations that seek to change an entire generation of kids’ minds to faovr their own political ideologies.

You are absolutely correct. The question is how to take back education. It needs to occur at universities–that’s where it started, however, minds are closed on campuses. The question is how to ensure freedom of speech and inspire real critical thinking.  The best solution is to develop alternative schools–my personal ideal would return to Ancient Greece–teach the students to think.
Alternatively, (Red) State legislatures need to take the initiative–enabling parents to sit in the classroom is key, or institute cameras in classes with internet feeds. Ostensibly, we don’t trust teachers to teach. Perhaps legislatures should enable ‘equal time’ for debatable issues. Yes, we have race issues in the USA… how best to deal with them?
My initial comment is pie-in-the-sky.  I don’t expect many of today’s teachers to be capable of teaching logic, or rational evaluation of political issues, or any issues beyond propaganda.

I like the idea of cameras, but not parents.  I think that’s too much of a distraction for the kids.  Cameras at least will hold the teacher accountable at all times, along with record any incidents that need investigating.  And, if a curious parent want to tune in for a bit, then all the better.  Kids might be better behaved, even?
Regardless, something has to change, because it’s not getting done right now.

Well, as we discovered in the last post’s comments, the Progressives who blow their snot on this board don’t have any answers.  They lecture us with “I don’t have the answers, but…” and then proceed to tell us how the system is incredibly unjust and is just riddled with Republican “child-like” policy answers.  It appears that Crime and Punishment is now a Republican thing?  Ok!
I get very, very tired of smug progressives dictating policy for everyone else to deal with, while they always seem to find exemption from those same policies.
Wasn’t there a note on the last post, too, that indicated that it was Walgreen’s fault for building too many stores?  I got a chuckle out of that one.  When a Progressive doesn’t want to defend their failed policy, they will just blame the victim.
Was Walgreen’s skirt just a little too high?
No need to worry for too much longer, Democrats; you won’t be in power after November of next year, because the public is seeing the results of your disastrous policies.  It turns out that people don’t much care for racial division, crime, high taxes, inflation, reckless border control, poor Covid management, supply shortages and soon-to-come energy shortages.  And for good measure a frustrating Christmas thrown in.
I fully expect that Democrats will be exhausted with the actual task of governing, and won’t mind handing over their disaster to responsible adults willing to fix this Progressive mess.

It is well known that a greater wealth is correlated with being Republican (or conservative), whereas greater education is correlated with being Democratic (or liberal).  Hence it is a distortion to characterize most liberals (or progressives) as having the means to escape the consequences of their policies, although of course with a very large and diverse group, you can always find some to fit your stereotype

Your argument seems to be missing some elements.
Education is not always (and in fact is probably less commonly) related to wealth attainment and success.  For a Progressive, becoming a professor may be that, but to each their own.
Wealth and success come from hard work and a sacrifice of time and stress and capital (savings).  Of course, education will give you an enormous advantage, but work ethic is the biggest determinant of wealth — not education.
