Here’s a replay of Trump’s address to the nation.
The video starts at about the 9 minute mark.
Dark Tones
CNN notes Biden looms over Trump’s address
“Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess. And I’m fixing it,” Trump began.
Trump ticked off a laundry list of Biden-era grievances, describing “open” borders, transgender men playing in women’s sports, crime, the “worst trade deals ever made,” and a “sick and corrupt” federal government.
The president cast a dark tone in describing his time away from the White House: “For the last four years, the United States was ruled by politicians who fought only for insiders, illegal aliens, career criminals, corporate lobbyists, prisoners, terrorists and above all foreign nations which took advantage of us at levels never seen before.”
Upon Trump’s return to the White House, however, he said, “In a few short months, we went from worst to best.”
White House advisers and Republicans have urged the president to express more empathy with Americans who are struggling financially and skeptical that the administration is doing much to improve their situation.
But Trump largely offered only a triumphant message, insisting that the economy had already been rescued and would only improve from here.
“Our country was ready to fail, totally fail,” he said. “Now we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world,”
Trump Sounds Defensive Like Biden
Trump moaned about Biden but the result was he sounded like Biden, just more forceful.
Instead of “aw shucks come on, things are improving” it was “I am the greatest.”
I suspect such arrogance will further hurt him at the polls.
Meanwhile, a nasty brew is simmering over job losses, inflation, health care, and housing. Trump delivered zero empathy and zero sympathy on all of those.

The Donald is our President, we elected him by majority.
It is our responsibility to get him the help he so obviously needs and do that immediately.
It is obvious the over the counter Prevagen is not working.
Who are “we”?
Maybe a panel of Federal bureaucrats and Sarah Palin could help?
The problems of this country are easy to solve. The problem is the wealthy don’t want to solve them because it involves taking their easy money ways away. The economy is a joke and has effectively turned into a casino.
The problem is the ultra wealthy.
One thing to understand the thieves in charge their modus operation is noise and more noise distraction outlandish statements but nothing of substance same as democrats the only difference democrats give more carrots to the lower strata the majority and like I said before the many will eat the few in a not to distant future…..
Trump is a narsasist who is completely out of touch with reality. He is beyond inappropriate and since his administration has taken office, the economy has suffered and continues to decline. Worse, he does not seem to understand the concept of separation between church and state. In addition, the government cannot decide what constitutes religion. I am quite disappointed and frightened by their right wing Christian agenda. If the American public does recognize what’s at stake, shame on them for not doing their research and blindly following!
You are so intelligent
You’re frightened by “right-wing Christian” conservatism, but not radical left-wing tyrannical “progressivism” which is communism 2.0…?
Who’s always shooting people?
Dumbass.
Are you referring to the 48,635 fatal jihad attacks since 9/11?
Who are the jihadi’s fellow travelers – the radical left, or conservative right…?
This man is a shameless gaslighter! The reality is that Biden and the Fed had to deal with a short burst of hyperinflation that plagued the entire world following the COVID shutdowns and the seizing up of supply chains. The Fed during 2022-2023 oversaw the reduction of inflation from a peak annualized rate of around 10% down to 2.40% without causing a recession, the historically elusive soft-landing. On the growth side, Biden oversaw strong above-trend GDP growth, historically low unemployment, and powerful job creation averaging over 200,000 jobs per month. For 2025, we have seen the disinflation trend that persisted from mid-2022 to mid-2024 stall out, we have seen job creation crater to under 100,000 per month, and the unemployment rate rise to 4.6% from the Biden era low of 3.5%.
My God, You are so smart, you need to be seated at the FED
I know Trumps ego is a problem, but, do we even what to entertain what would have happen on multiple fronts had we elected Harris? That to me is even more scary than listening to Trump toot his horn. Pray for the man!
I know what would not have happened. We would not have had outdated, proven detrimental protectionist tariffs imposed on us and on the rest of the world. We would not be committing war crimes in the Caribbean. We would not be trying to strong-arm Ukraine to surrender to Russia to placate Putin. We would not have published a Security Policy that is void of values, tells our Western Hemisphere neighbors that we will use our superior power to dominate the hemisphere, and they either fall in line or we will punish them, and insults our European allies, along with pledging to interfere in their internal politics to bolster the far-right opposition political movements. We also would not be terrorizing our immigrant and naturalized citizen populations.
“Trumps ego is a problem”
He is mentally ill. What the fuck is wrong with you?
You have no idea how much better Harris would have been, she could not have been worse, not possible.
TWS at work.
Yes, Kamala is so smart … dumb voters how could they not see this?
She was AG and VP what have you done?
So, what would have happened under Harris? Especially with a Republican controlled Senate. Nobody ever actually says what the horrible things would be…
Letting in 10 million more illegals, taxing the middle class to give free stuff to illegals, poor, lazy and irresponsible people
Think of their feelings!
Maybe hoping for good candidates at this point is like the stage four patient hoping for a miracle.
Pray for him??? Pray for us because we are simply his prey. He doesn’t suffer. It’s everyone else around him!
That’s because you’re stupid. You most likely believe a lot of other stupid things. Seek help.
Empathy and sympathy are not words generally associated with Trump.
toxic narcissist having daily meltdown in public. then the maga machine gets into gear to filter his filth into something someone like them might like.
I just don’t think it’s possible for the West to get good candidates elected anymore. People talk about the Deep State and there seems to be some validity to it, I believe the candidates “they” want in power get in power, they have the MSM in their pockets and use them to attack and smear anyone they don’t want elected and give full support to those they do want. This goes for all of the Western Nations. They want figureheads, puppets that they put into power but they still control the government from the shadows. Kamala Harris would have been their perfect puppet, I read something the other day about her getting ready to run again…really? She is the poster child for an empty vessel candidate.
Trump seems to be the one outlier who keeps sneaking in and disrupting their plans, the problem is he’s too much Trump. He does some really good things like securing the borders, getting rid of the DEI and Woke disease that was infiltrating every corner of government and society etc. Unfortunately he also acts like a petulant child, calls people who question or criticizes him, “Stupid” or “losers”, seems to impulsively do things without any sort of deep thought or consultation, does he listen to or take anyones advice?. I don’t doubt that he loves America but he also just as much loves “Trump”, his ego is by far his biggest flaw and it’s always on display.
Nah. There is a Deep State, but it is a tool, not an instigator. The power in the country is held by giant corporations and their ability to concentrate wealth and use that concentrated wealth to control elections. Those giant corporations also own and fund the media. So they naturally need a boogey-man so that people won’t blame problems on them. That boogey-man is the “deep state” (for conservatives). It gets people to fight against a perceived enemy, instead of the real enemy: them. But, corporate interests aren’t 100% aligned. Microsoft’s wants and needs are different from Exxon’s and both of their is different from Lockheed’s and United Health’s. But they are aligned in critical areas: low corporate tax rates and high deficits, war mongering (making the world safe for “American interests”, theirs not yours), monopolistic control of the economy and pricing power, and deregulation of the financial system. The election of Donald Trump is a reaction. People know something is wrong and Trump doesn’t seem to be a part of that something, and he really isn’t. But he himself is too dumb and narcissistic to understand who to fight. So he flails away against Mexican rapists and the 5 trans kids in girls sports. Kamala Harris actually is smart enough to know exactly how the system works. She just wants to profit from it instead of fixing it.
Imagine having voted for Trump, and believing he would do something about the Deep State other than perpetuate it. The Swamp is filthier than ever.
“More than 600 biologically female athletes have lost at least 890 medals to transgender competitors” across over 400 competitions in 29 sports….
https://abc3340.com/news/nation-world/un-study-reveals-transgender-athletes-have-won-nearly-900-medals-in-womens-competitions-united-nations-sports-lgbt-gender-identity-title-ix-athletics
So! What is the bottom line (to date)? There are so many implications to Trump’s EO’s yet to be determined. But, if we consider what Trump did inherit and what he has (accomplished?), vs what he promoted in his campaign and how he may not (the economy) achieved, what do we have – so far?
Regarding his global foreign policy directions….is it not too soon to tell? For sure, any change there will first be negative by all those who favor status quo.
Regarding border, social and crime policies…..are we saying he is failing?
Regarding debt and cost levels of goods, what could he really do…without offending the free market?
Regarding monetary policy, the fed is stuck with implications and thus he is stuck with implications and we are all stuck with implications…all of which are from the past. What can he really do? (not that I endorse lower interest rates, myself, but there are implications to higher rates, (implications) that we and Trump are all stuck with. Is there a non-implication solution to bubble abuses?
Who among us really thought during Trump’s campaign that he could “fix” all this? Sure he puffs it all up but who among us ever believed he could “fix” all this as we voted for him over Harris?
What are the right expectations for all this? Trump is his own worst enemy (big mouth), yes but so may we be our own enemies in our expectations and daily nit picking of Trump’s puffery.
Would any of us now change our vote if we could?
“Biden”
At this point I saw no reason to watch the speech. He apparently ran true to form. My attention was better spent anywhere else.
I did vote for him regrettably, basically the lesser of two evils. I couldn’t even listen to his bloviating narcissistic bullshit speech for more than a couple of minutes. He is just a fucking asshole. I don’t know why the party backs him smh,
Nah, your’e wrong! He’s not that good.
Maybe not the lesser of two evils.
That’s often the case.
He was not the lesser of twi evils. In my eyes, he was clearly the greater of two evils. I was right; obviously, you were wrong. Kamala Harris would have been a vastly better President.
Harris would have looked like the president of Mensa compared to this demented lunatic. And his voters are truly the worst of us. They know how bad they look, so now comes the face saving about Kamala, lesser of two evils, both parties are the same, etc etc etc. It’s all pathetic. The same moral failings that led them to vote for Trump now make them unable to own it like adults. They are small people.
The real problem with America is stupid Americans. Stupid in the sense they can be deceived into voting against their self-interest for decades
There is a reason why the military has had to reconsider accepting recruits with an IQ below 85, its current minimum. More and more Usonians are clinically morons. Here’s the TACUS to prove it.
Perhaps we should return to the original rule that only white, property owners can vote?
She would not have been better at anything other than maintaining the status quo. But perhaps that would have been good enough.
Had the Dems not anointed her to step in for Biden, it is likely than another Dem would have had a much better chance to retire Trump forever.
Hopefully, the Dems have learned a lesson out of the suffering that Trump is imposing on the country.
He was the evil of two lessers….
The difference between Biden and Harris is that Harris would have had her hand on the auto-pen as it wrote her name….
The “lesser of two evils” trope is laughable. Donald Trump’s first term ended in disgrace, and history will not forget his two impeachments. Personally, his life is paved with deceit, failure, and betrayal. He is a serial liar and has no core principles or morals to guide his decisions. His decisions are purely transactional, and these transactions are carried out with an “ends justify the means” mentality. He is the most “un-American” President that we have seen since Andrew Jackson.
Those make up the quintessential Usonian character.
It shows you how poorly Harris was thought of.
No, I really think that it shows how susceptible many people are to gaslighting and how easy it is to manipulate large swaths of the public that do not place a high value on character issues.
You focus on the personality and his marketing bullshit (puffery). I get that. I can’t stand that either. I watched last evening but generally, like you, cannot stand to listen to him “blather”.
But that aside, there is a pragmatic (Real Politic) way to look at this too.
FEAR…
Here is another of Trump’s immature, childish projects. It’s only a matter of time until the Republicans finally say enough is enough and get together with the Democrats to remove Trump from office!
New plaques on Trump’s ‘Presidential Walk of Fame’ offer pointed descriptions of predecessors
By Alejandra Jaramillo
Updated 17 Dec 2025
The White House has installed plaques along President Donald Trump’s “Presidential Walk of Fame,” offering descriptions of his predecessors, often written in the style of his social media posts — including insults, baseless claims and random capitalization.
…

this is so bad it’s funny. he basically framed in the WH his rants as official portraits of other POTUS.
There are no Republicans with a spine that could lead them to impeach and remove Trump from office, you and I know that’s never happening.
The trailer park loves it!
Woe is me! [lol]
Why is the dotard so obsessed with Biden? It’s not the 2024 elections anymore buddy. You own this mess
Seriously. This man needs help.
I don’t know why his handlers let him say these things. I would love to see his entire staff resign.
No expertise on this. But I understand handling mad people is very challenging.
The nice prison guards can help him.
There is no doubt he is mentally ill. When he’s gone (can’t be soon enough) I hope we punish his cabinet and major players. Those that voted for him should hang their head and never vote again.
86/47 25th, impeach or god whatever works ASAP.
Trump imagines a C5:
US, Russia, China, India, and Japan.
Trump speaks for billionaires.
Xi speaks for the Global South.
No—this will never happen.
Trump was born rich and has never known the reality of life for the bottom 90% of ordinary people. Instd, he enriches himself and his billionaire friends.
In contrast, Xi Jinping grew up in a rural village and rose step by step through every level of the system to become president. This background has given him empathy, and he seeks to look after both the rich and the poor.
From Western point of view, Xi is authoritarian.leader.
China doesn’t give a damn about their people, its all smoke and mirrors. They are propaganda masters, they use Social Media to push their propoganda and even pay YouTube influencers to come over and parrot the exact same scripted talking points trying to sell China as this World leading Utopia which could not be further from the truth.
THE USA doesn’t give a damn about their people
Hitler was working class and spent time destitute as a young man. Just saying
He was probably mentally ill as is Trump.
There are still some guard rails in American government. Not many. But some.
Obviously being mentally ill isn’t a guardrail.
Some Pumping himself some Dumping on barack biden – not quite accurate and not quite wrong – still seems better than the previous Bozo Biden Regime
Willful blindness alert!
You get the forehead brand
..and all because the alternative had a mildly annoying laugh.
..and her running mate didn’t put tampons in male toilets.
Laugh at your idiot in chief but take a look at yourselves America….
I have despised Trump since he first ran for president. But one of the reasons he keep winning elections is due to the abysmal candidates that the DMC puts forward every time.
Joe Biden should have never tried to run for re-election and Kamala wasn’t popular even inside the Democratic party.
That’s still no excuse for trump
Amazing you’re complaining about the Democratic candidates when Trump was the Republican one. Put the blame where it belongs.
Only way to get prices to pre-Biden prices is to have widescale deflation for food, energy, housing, transportation and healthcare.
When was the last time did we had deflation ? Maybe for a couple of months during the “Great Recession” and for a few years during the Great Depression.
At least disinflation is real, with annual inflation between 2 and 3% now versus +8% during the Biden administration.
The only way you can think inflation is 2-3% now is if you don’t actually spend money. Trying to redefine reality is not working for you, or Trump.
Trump is pretty fuc*ing exhausting. He’s been a criminal most of his life…and he’s gotten away with it. And it’s out there for anyone to see.
It’s a 15 second video meme about Trump and the rest of. Take a look, it’s funny. https://x.com/i/status/2001534799182225443

“Why, why are we subjected to more garbage?…
if someone expect any empathy or sympathy from narcissist then he will be seriously disappointed. They don’t feel such emotions, it is completely alien to them.
Plus why would Trump not sound that much triumphant. He is absolutely enjoying every moment of this presidency. Whole world bow to him, everybody afraid to speak against, kissing his ass form every corner, life is just beautiful in White House.
Only small concern he has now are those annoying midterms. What to do to get rid of it, hmm. That is only concern on his mind now, everything else is just great. So he is bragging.
For sure he is not interested in regular folks, that is given.
So now it is up to you how you react to it. My answer is simple, don’t think next fall, just vote straight blue,
Blue and red—two faces of the same coin.
Different colors, the same corruption.
The same inefficiency.
A broken system. That’s why Blue and Red come alternately.
People are not happy.
zzzzzz
The emperor not only has no clothes, he has no brain!
Trump said tonight (again) that he wants to stop giving money to “greedy health insurance companies” and give it directly to consumers, who will then be able to “buy their own health insurance.”
From…those same greedy companies?
He and his billionaire friends.
Per a news outlet: “Notably, Trump did not address the blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers from entering and leaving Venezuela or potential military action in the country.”
Well, well well. Seems it’s not just about the ‘narco-terrorists’ after all.
They stole our oil, according to Trump. Who exactly do the Venezuelans think they are? Their oil belongs to us and we need to get it back. Looks like we have no choice but to start bombing Venezuela to the stone age.
Oil prices are currently at 4 year lows and will probably go up; maybe way up. But at least American oil producers will benefit from higher prices.
We bombed Nicaragua back to the Stone Age and destabilized their and Guatemala’s economies so that many fled to Mexico and made a mess there. The mass migration to the US was inevitable due to our aggression… Sometimes you have to wonder where our leadership went to school? Now with the Peso Pig for President we have no leader, just a blowhard, wanna be dictator.
It’s so much like the ranting of the Democrat Left–“I’m here to save you!”–that I could justify a suspicion that he knows our national goose is cooked and all he can do is pretend there’s a Solution and he has it. And like the Dem Left he hands out money, today to the military, yesterday to everyone.
Question to Mish: Do you think we should be worried that the Fed is buying T bills? Or that Buffett is shifting money to the yen?
TFG has handed out money to no one. Except, iirc, farmers and his wealthy friends.
When the rat-in-chief is panicking, you better put on your life vest
He will be at his most dangerous, to us, when he is afraid. And he is afraid.
Not even a clown could even imagine such a juxtaposition of random disjoint crazy-unintelligible japes.
And Noble Peace Prize winner is – – –
Perhaps someone should do a column on what a boom in military recruiting really means. Does this actually mean young adults are are enamored with the military lifestyle or does it mean the military is the only place where there are jobs? And they need to bribe them with one time payments? As for the rest, my spouse is going to hold off food shopping for the next few months, because just around the corner, prices will be coming down and the food dollar will stretch further!
Same old garbage out of Trump.
Trump complained about Biden’s horrible trade deals.
Yet Biden didn’t sign any trade deals.
The only trade deals that existed during Biden’s tenure, were the ones that Trump signed.
Just like Trump complained about Biden appointing Powell as Fed Chair. Of course, Trump was the one who appointed Powell.
Then there are Trump’s claims that he has lowered Drug prices by 1500%; raised $18 trillion in tariffs; eliminated inflation; and so on.
Too funny!
If you fact check the erroneous numbers that be vomited out this evening, you will find that not only did the lies significantly outnumber the one or two truths, but that the percentage is much less than his declining poll numbers. Stick a fork in taco as he is close to done.
Just like “Putin can’t hold out much longer,” hoping Orangeman is close to done is just hopium. He’ll go on forever, just like Vlad. There will be no end to the horror. Sorry but that’s just how it is.
The speech was basically one long stream of falsehoods. Starting off with inflation… in Biden’s last month in office: about 3% (and certainly not “the highest in 48 years”). Inflation now: about 3%.
As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Will FOX and CBS viewers appreciate POTUS INTERRUPTUS?
Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion!
Unequivocal Bullshit!
The entire world is laughing at our idiot in chief!
Elections have consequences.
I noticed on a pro-Trump website (from which I am banned) that most of the commenters were deeply disgusted by his tweet (“truth”) about Rob & Michelle Reiner.
They knew he was low-class when they voted for him.
Pssst, the joke is on you. The world is laughing at the Usonian people forgetting what they deserve.
I also couldn’t bear to watch it. I expected him to say the bombing of Venezuela has started. If he didn’t, I guess that’s something.
“Meanwhile, a nasty brew is simmering over job losses, inflation, health care, and housing. Trump delivered zero empathy and zero sympathy on all of those.”
I didn’t watch the clown show because I assumed it would be standard egotist operating procedure but delivering zero empathy and sympathy was exactly what his mostly toxic boomer and crypto-bros wanted out of this president.
It was all fun and games until health insurance and inflation skyrocketed and the economy tanks leaving boomers and crypto-bros broke.
It only gets worse from here for the next 3+ years and everyone should consider themselves warned and advised.
Got exit strategy?
I didn’t watch it either. I can’t stand his face or his voice or his aggrandisement of himself…..they all grate on me and make me irritable…I’d rather watch porn. Trump even worse than porn.
At least with porn, so I’m told, there’s a ‘happy ending’
Whenever a president would start talking on the idiot box, I’d change channels. I’ve been doing this since Obama’s first term. I don’t even know how those idiots sound like. Going through Dubia was enough.
