For those too young to remember, Nixon put us on year-round daylight saving time for about a month and a half in 73 or 74. That ended after people didn’t like their kids waiting for school buses in the morning in the dark in January.
The Brits used daylight savings and double daylight savings during the war to conserved energy (coal). It works. And, during the winter, people just don’t like getting up and going to work two hours before sunrise. I really don’t understand what the whining about daylight savings is about. You can read where there’s a jump in deaths when the clocks are changed. If you’re in such sad shape that moving your clock an hour is going to kill you, well, bye.

My straight-faced guess is, having failed to get the SAVE Act, Trump will announce that FBI and DOJ have uncovered, and will prosecute, “election fraud,” dating back some years. He will try to procure multiple court orders to manipulate state election activities, but I suspect he will try first to just do it by executive order, with strong-arm raids and so on. I expect he will try to unseat (and prosecute) at least two sitting Senators, possibly including Georgia.
He’ll leave past elections alone – he doesn’t want anyone looking at his ’24 election.

I predict that Trump’s speech this evening will be the equivalent of Biden’s debate performance. It will show that the man no longer has the mental capacity to be president.
While Biden’s blank stare was that of a lobotomy patient, Trump will come across as a ranting, delusional, paranoid mental patient. The similarity being that both were /are too old and mentally infirm to be President.

No there aren’t, it was a war time measure nobody ever cancelled.
Sure there are. At my 45 degree latitude at the summer solstice, people are OK with it getting light around 4:30 AM and they like it staying light until 10 PM. That’s daylight savings time. If we left the clocks on standard time, it would get light at 3:30 AM. Who the hell wants that? At the winter solstice on standard time, it doesn’t get light until almost 8 AM and gets dark around 4:45 PM. People can tolerate it getting dark at 4:45 PM, but they wouldn’t like it not getting light until 9 AM (if we kept daylight saving time running). If it didn’t get light until 9 AM, kids would be walking to school or waiting for the bus in the dark. Nixon tried that in 1974 are people hated it.

Might I suggest you compare the respective murder-rates between the US & UK – the UK scores far higher on the ‘niceness’ scale.
