The administration deciding to take _3 days_ to stop charging the tariffs really screwed themselves because those will absolutely have to be returned and doing so will prove the feasibility of returning the $$$.
(Also when legal challenges request a TRO the administration said it was not necessary because they could always refund the $$$).

I never expected to see any of the tariff revenue related to the Bolivian quinoa which I have been buying for the past 16 years. Unfriendly states see their tariffs lowered, US vassals see them going up. That’s a bit comic. Vassals are getting upset and want a fair deal. EU is a good example, sent a letter to White House. Trump’s latest threats are mainly aimed at vassals.
At this point, it should be clear to everyone that Trump is doing more damage than an outright Russian plant, unless he is one anyway.
Vassals are working at top speed to uncouple themselves from the US economy. The US is too big to completely uncouple from but as time goes on the vassals will secure some relationships with more desirable parties and in the end the US will be worse off. Countries and companies are happy to pay a bit more for more certainty and to not be involved in this ongoing soap opera of on again off again tariffs that simply relate to Trumps psychotic mood of the day. Once these deals get cut I don’t think there will be a pressing desire to undo them once Trump is gone. At least some will be permanent.
The US now has a huge hole to fill in its budget. Once trump gets over his little tantrum he is going to have to deal with that somehow. The US is nearly $40trillion in debt and is still digging. Over 120% of GDP. These other tariff provisions are not going to do it and I don’t think he is going to raise taxes on his rich friends. So get ready for the war on the poor.
It is silly to pretend that this administration’s trade “negotiations” are those of grown-ups. Dealing with this cast of characters must be infuriating to our trading partners because their tactics are not designed to foster true negotiations; they are instead intent on demonstrating “who holds the cards.” They are not intent on arriving at an agreement that everyone can feel good about; they use pressure tactics to force capitulation. The grown-ups at the table should blunt these tactics by refusing to begin the process of legislative ratification of any proposed agreement unless the Trump administration moves to have any agreements approved by Congress.
They should refuse to make any deal until Trumpstien is removed from office. He won’t keep his word on ANYTHING, and as long as he has power to act on his fevered delusions, there is no making any kind of deal, with anyone.
What I don’t understand is why it took 10 whole months for SCOTUS to rule on the tariff question? CA filed the first challenge to Trump’s summary application of tariffs back in April 2025!
Did it really take SCOTUS and its many numerous assistants 10 months to collect background and cobble together a reply? Perhaps they should consider buying a $20/month subscription to a couple of AIs going forward?
ANY potential Trump oversteps of his authority should be dealt with by SCOTUS on an expedited, forthwith and immediate time frame, preempting all other cases, if necessary.

SCOTUS are not Presidential baby sitters (for Trump or any past/future president) and asking them to take on that role is not something they’d likely accept.

We should be demanding more from our political representatives on these issues, not asking SCOTUS to rule faster and babysit.
