Trump Proclaims Himself the “Chosen One” to Take on China

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday his life would be easier if he had not mounted a trade war with China but said “I am the chosen one” to take on Beijing.

Chosen One Considers Options to Spur Economy

Yesterday, the chosen one said he was Considering Options to Spur the Economy.

Executive Order

Bloomberg reported Trump Says He Can Order Capital Gains Tax Break Without Congress.

President Donald Trump said he can cut taxes by indexing capital gains to inflation without congressional approval, a move the White House has been considering for months that would largely benefit the wealthy.

“We’ve been talking about indexing for a long time,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Tuesday. “And many people like indexing and it could be done very simply. It could be done directly by me.”

This was despite the fact the “economy is very strong”

Chosen One Reverses Course

Today, the Wall Street Journal reports In Reversal, Trump Says He Is No Longer Considering Tax Cuts

“I’m not looking at a tax cut now,” Mr. Trump said in comments to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House. “We don’t need it. We have a strong economy.”

Full Circle in a Day

Well, that took all of one day to go full circle.

Economy So Strong That

The economy is so strong that Trump continually heaps more pressure on Powell to cut rates.

Doing Great With China

Please note that the US is “Doing great with China and other trade deals”.

We have been doing “great” with China on and off for at least a year. Today, I see things are “great” again. How refreshing.

What else?

Things are going so well with Japan that it will now take huge tariff cuts by Japan just for the US to break even with where we could have been relative to Australia and Canada.

For details, please see Another Trump Trade Fiasco, This Time With Japan.

Doing great with China is of course expected.

After all, Trump is the chosen one. And the chosen one has spoken.

Who else has stepped up to take on the establishment. Trump was chosen, whether he liked it or not.

Selected quote in previous post from:

“How a mission to take down China’s government led a shadowy media org to back Trump”

I hit “edit” to include the above in the original post, but apparently the edit feature is nothing but tantalizing bullshit.

The “chosen one” to take on China. Reads a lot like this selected quote:

“Devout practitioners of Falun Gong ‘believe that Trump was sent by heaven to destroy the Communist Party.’”

Strange Bedfellows indeed.

If the orange clown gets reelected, he will have to rule as a dictator. Domestically, he has belittled, offended so many capable men (no woman so far), that no one would want to be on the team: his team would have to come from a trailer park.

American voters wish for contradictions, like: spending money that doesn’t exist. So no surprise they get walking contradictions as their leaders.

100% tariff on all Chinese ,Mexican,Vietnamese,Indian,Cambodian crap, that’s enough cash taken in to pay down (off) the deficit,DT will basically pay off the deficits created by the 2 previous buffoons and literally assure his reelection……..if there is an election…….big ass if!

Trump is doing everything wrong. I guess it’s just a coincidence that the economy had grown, jobs have increased, unemployment is low, interest rates are low, taxes are lower than before and incomes have risen.
If you haven’t been able to make money, prosper and enjoy the last 2 1/2 years than you are a natural loser!!

Jeffrey who?

One can be forgiven for thinking this unusual amount of bluster (even by Trumpian standards!) is helping people forget about Epstein, Yemen, and other unpleasantries.

The Greenland stuff in particular is over the top. The only reason to troll so heavily is to distract. Trump’s a narcissist but he’s not completely unhinged like he’s pretending to be.

Or crazy like a fox.

Obviously, DJT setting up Powell to be the Fall Guy .. but just as clear to me he is setting up China, too. With the tax cut talk, I think The Administration has peeked under the hood … and it is not pretty. A recession here in US likely gets its start abroad … or at least the excuse will be. If China slows … US slows … DJT will be tweeting that it is Xi’s fault … if he had only taken the deal slowdown averted.

Check the news, China has been having economic problems for years now. The same goes for Europe.

Well, yeah. However, and I know it’s hard to believe, that problem is far worse in other countries as compared to the US.

Oh, definitely agree situation darker in europe and china.

But doesn’t matter … DJT tweetstorm will be what he wants the voters to believe .. and, sadly, many will believe his version of reality.

The sad part is when anybody believes the word of any politician, regardless of party. I don’t believe the word of any of them.

He is indeed The Chosen One. Voters (arguably) chose him. They chose transparent, vulgar, incompetent, insane evil over cold, calculating, competent discreet evil.

While their choice certainly has advanced the doomsday clock (to the delight of some), I think it’s been damn entertaining…. majestic in its sweeping, ignorant, pants-on-your-head stupidity. It has made what was once the greatest country in the world into a circus that mimics the entertainment that comes out of hollywood… lots of shouting, some shooting, but no sex. It’s fun to watch, if you don’t have kids.

All hail The Chosen One!

It’s damn entertaining unless what he is saying and do has a direct effect on your personal life.

It was all an illusion. We have to remember people in their 20s only have Obama as a reference point for great times. Ask them what about QE, low interest rates, QE2 and the like and they have no clue what you mean. It is amazing what small percentage of the population understands how booms and busts work.

It is amazing how so few understand not just booms and busts, but economy 101 in the first place.

Met a politician once who asked my father in law for donations, despite the year being 2009 and the economy sucking big time.

Many coworkers here think that the company has gobs of $$ to spare.

And some of my kids believe that we are selfish if we don’t give in to their wishes.

True. What a great choice we had. I can only imagine the next election will not look a lot better.
