DNC Let Go of Staff With No Severance Complains SEI Union

In a few weeks, the DNC blew over $1.5 billion on ads and other expenses, so much that it fired workers with no severance. Boohoo.

Harris Campaign Debt Contributed to DNC Mass Layoffs

Please consider Union Questions if Harris Campaign Debt Contributed to DNC Mass Layoffs.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is facing backlash after laying off staff members with just one day’s notice and no severance, according to the DNC Staff Union. The union has sharply criticized the party’s leadership, accusing them of “callous and short-sighted mismanagement” following the mass layoffs, which they argue go far beyond typical post-election turnover.

Many of those laid off had been assured their jobs would be secure after the election. Some of those had even worked for the DNC for decades.

The union also pointed out a disconnect between the Democratic Party’s public values and its treatment of its own staff. They said, “the principles we champion on the national stage have been disregarded in our own workplace.”

The layoffs have fueled concerns about the DNC’s financial stability, particularly in light of the financial scrutiny surrounding Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

Harris’ campaign raised over $1.5 billion. However, it has come under fire for its spending practices.

The New York Times reported the campaign spent $1.5 billion in 15 weeks. Recent reports reveal it paid nearly $2.5 million to Oprah Winfrey’s production company, more than double the initial estimate.

Harris’ campaign is also reportedly in significant debt. NewsNation reports the campaign is $20 million in the red.

The Associated Press reported that the campaign continues to send fundraising appeals asking for donations without explicitly stating the funds are to pay off campaign liabilities.

In light of these issues, the DNC Staff Union is demanding two things. The first is severance for the laid-off workers. The second is full transparency from DNC leadership about the layoffs and the party’s financial situation.

Union Calls Democratic Party Staff Layoffs After Record Fundraising ‘Callous’

The Guardian reports Union Calls Democratic Party Staff Layoffs After Record Fundraising ‘Callous’

The union representing workers at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has accused the party’s leadership of a “callous” betrayal of party values after the sudden announcement of layoffs of permanent employees without severance.

“Despite record-breaking fundraising, the DNC failed to provide any financial support to those who have tirelessly served the Democratic Party and its mission,” said the union in a press release.

“These cuts go far beyond typical campaign turnover and impact employees who were previously told their positions would be retained after the election,” the union claimed.

Workers were notified at night on 13 November of the layoffs, according to the press release, and the union claimed the DNC had not disclosed to the union the full extent of the layoffs or if additional cuts were planned.

“How could we have raised record-breaking numbers and still find ourselves in this situation?” they added.

“One day’s notice, no severance—the DNC fights for workers, just not their own. Full DNC Union Statement here.

Celebrity Endorsement Payment Rebuttal

AOL did a fact check and says Reps for Beyonce, Eminem and others said they were not paid to endorse Harris

“Eminem has never received, and has never been offered, any money for his involvement in any political campaign or his endorsement,” Dennehy wrote in an email.

Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mom, said on Instagram that claims her daughter was paid $10 million for speaking at a Harris rally are false.

”Beyonce did not receive a penny for speaking at a Presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harrris’s Rally in Houston,” the post says in part. “In fact she actually paid for her own flights for her and her team, and total Glam.”

A source close to the situation similarly told USA TODAY that Megan Thee Stallion was not paid for her endorsement.

Representatives for Lizzo did not respond to a request for comment from USA TODAY, but PolitiFact reported that the Harris campaign said the singer was not paid for her endorsement.

Winfrey took to social media herself to deny receiving a personal payment while acknowledging that her company, Harpo Productions, was paid to produce a sit-down event in Michigan with Harris. Winfrey said the payments covered production expenses, such as paying workers, and that she did not personally profit from the sit-down.

Q&A: How Did This Happen?

Q: How?

A: By blowing over $1 billion dollars in a matter of weeks on a poor strategy of comparing Trump to Hitler and other such nonsense while not answering a single question, even in creampuff interviews.

Boohoo from Mother Jones

I saved the biggest boohoo for last. Please consider DNC Let Go of Staff With No Severance, Says Union

“Losing an election has not absolved the organization of its responsibility to treat its workers with basic dignity.”

One former DNC union member, whose last day was Friday, said she was shocked. “For a lot of folks, this is life-altering,” said the laid-off employee, who spoke with Mother Jones on the condition of anonymity.

“Amongst the members that were laid off includes one deeply beloved union member who worked at the DNC for 38 years,” the staffer said. “So I push back against the claim that this is normal, because we have members who have been here for decades who are shocked and angry and trying to figure out how they’re going to survive this layoff.”

A DNC official told Mother Jones that all workers were informed of the possibility of layoffs as early as September 13, and that 95 percent of those being let go had a post-election end date in their offer letter.

But one laid-off worker who spoke with Mother Jones said that she, like some other employees, felt pressured into leaving a full-time role for a temporary contract position prior to the election.

I was told in order to get a title change or a promotion or any raises, it would only be if I agreed to sign a contract that had an end date of November 15,” she said. The staffer said management had said an extension was expected.

Among those DNC employees who have not been laid off, the mood is uncertain, said one employee who was unaffected by the layoffs but requested anonymity for fear of retaliation from the DNC.

“One thing that has been a common thread during my employment has been that we’re trying to break the boom and bust cycle of democratic infrastructure. So I’d say this feels very antithetical to that,” she said. She plans to look for another job soon—but calls that decision “heartbreaking” as someone who’s spent years working in Democratic electoral politics.

“We find it very cruel that DNC management is trying to claim that layoffs are just part of the job,” a DNC union member said. “And we feel strongly that losing an election has not absolved the organization of its responsibility to treat its workers with basic dignity.”

GoFundMe

The DNC union launches a GoFundMe to help former staffers hit by massive layoffs after election losses.

The GoFundMe is seeking $25,000 to assist staff.

I fail to see how $25,000 will cover 400 ex-employees for any length of time. But might I suggest Oprah, Bill Gates, or George Sorus fund the whole damn thing?

On second thought, I would rather those impacted reflect on their choice to work with the DNC.

The Teamsters finally figured out the dems are full of crap when it comes to workers, but there are still plenty of union workers who are easily bamboozled by Team Blue.

I have no sympathy for individuals who gave up a permanent job for a temp position on the campaign team. Many of those being promised advancement within the DNC would have seniority not only to avoid layoff, but also to be promoted. Looks like the DNC has figured out how to bust a union.

Uh, that’s what hypocrites do. They have no values other than to obtain political power at all costs.

Severance? I’m told by trump and First Lady Elon that workers don’t even deserve overtime. Why the pearl clutching?

That was a rhetorical question. The pearl clutching is just a daily thing.

Who, in their right mind, would ever hire someone who worked for the DNC after the Kamala Collapse?
Certainly not for their high IQ, or commonsense, or creativity, or marketing genius, or social acumen, or Hollywood connections, or…..

I daresay a large part of the $1 billion was Kamala’s booze bill and payments to cover-up her oral services.

They should ask for reparations. That message will be more appealing to the woke parasites that have taken over the party with the blessing of the polident using elders.

I have this funny feeling that anyone who has been employed by the DNC for a significant length of time would likely be considered “unemployable” by the private sector.

The DNC hasn’t stood for anything in decades. They’ve been the party of “not republicans” for so long than I’m surprised anyone expected something other than corporate shilling from them.

I was a registered Democrat until after 3 separate primary violations and a lawsuit where they won by declaring they don’t have to follow their own rules and the court agreed.

That anybody expected good character out of them is hilarious. Everybody smart knows we get to vote for either “Christian Values Corporate Masters” or “Woke Speak without Action Corporate Masters” and the DNC itself is cartoonishly evil.

We watched how both parties lined up to fuck Rail Workers. We expected it from Republicans, but Democrats who believed they actually stood by workers after that are fools who get what they deserve.

I’ve sensed that the Democratic party is on its last legs. The Harris campaign felt like a “last blast”.
We’ll have Republican govt for a while, and then new parties will form – more than one, I think.

“But might I suggest Oprah, Bill Gates, or George Sorus fund the whole damn thing?”

I read that Soros didn’t fund Gascon this time around. Probably because he knew that Gascon was going to lose. Apparently, internal polling showed Kamala was behind “all along.” Seems they shouldn’t have over spent out of desperation.

Probably not so much out of desperation but out of necessity.
When some organization spends like drunken sailors they most likely have something very big to hide.
You know it’s Bad when they could not allow a public and open contest to replace Biden. Had to be the chosen Puppet candidate.

Shortly beginning Jan 20 be prepared for a slew of, Holy Shits they did what?

Oh so that’s why Oprah refuted the claim she was paid a mllion bucks with such ease. It was 150% MORE. She wasn’t lying.

Over spending, just like governments do. California had a huge surplus, then created new things to spend it on and wound up with a huge deficit.

The Issue: “In a few weeks, the DNC blew over $1.5 billion on ads and other expenses, so much that it fired workers with no severance. Boohoo.

Rebuttal: Um, didn’t these same Democrats “Cheer” these expenses? Didn’t they “Attend” these events, and were “Ecstatic” at the time?

– The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is facing backlash after laying off staff members with just one day’s notice and no severance, according to the DNC Staff Union.
> Those are “The Rules” and they followed them. Could they have paid them severance? Of course, but we’re talking “Democrats Here” you know the Party of “1 for you/3 for ME” or in this case: None for You AND The Rest For US!!! Did they truly expect anything different? If so, then they are even dumber than I even thought, as this is “How They Role”

– The union has sharply criticized the party’s leadership, accusing them of “Blah, Blah, Blah” and the union probably responded: Get a Lawyer!

The Complaint: Many of those laid off had been assured their jobs would be secure after the election. Some of those had even worked for the DNC for decades.
The Reality: Was it in Writing? Any up front? Did you expect to get paid with “No Contract”? Dummies…

– The union also pointed out a disconnect between the Democratic Party’s public values and its treatment of its own staff. They said, “the principles we champion on the national stage have been disregarded in our own workplace.
> Appears to me, that they treat the Public Citizens, Republicans, and Democrats (not connected) “Exactly Alike”

– The layoffs have fueled concerns about the DNC’s “Financial Stability”
> Um, I can help with that: “There Broke”

– Harris’ campaign raised over $1.5 billion. However, it has come under fire for its spending practices.
> Harris’ campaign SPENT WAY over $1.5 billion.

– The Associated Press reported that the campaign continues to send fundraising appeals asking for donations without explicitly stating the funds are to pay off campaign liabilities.
> Biden/Harris Campaign are being “Dishonest”? Say it ain’t so…

– In light of these issues, the DNC Staff Union is demanding two things. The first is severance. The second is full transparency from DNC leadership.
> First = There Broke, so forget about it. Second = Good Luck with that, as “The Republicans have been asking for that for nearly “4 YEARS”

This is all so utterly ridiculous and quite comical to watch. If it wasn’t such a depressing and sad thing to watch these Democrat Supporters get repeatedly lied to, and just clamor for More, it would be absolutely hysterical. There Leaders obviously Represent Them, just as they represent everything else they ”Say” they stand for, with absolutely Nothing!!!

When given the power democrats can bankrupt anything. That applies to federal, state and local governments as well as their own national committee. See the debt of blue states and cities. All are looking for a bailout from taxpayers. Nothing is new here. They play, we pay.

I agree, and CA. is a complete joke with more debt than they or Us could ever pay back! They act like the Feds and just borrow and borrow and give away and give away, and keep a handy sum for themselves, I would guess… Yet it continues like lIt Is What It Is”
Let’s hope this deranged agreement to have taking place, is void and nullified! No more money, and no more spending our money! This isn’t hard!!

Would this have turned out differently if Harris had won? When the party can no longer hand out favors to big donors the donations dry up. Isn’t it obvious that those donations are ‘quid pro quo’? This is one of the faults of our electoral system (and human nature in general).

Let’s see. Some high profile celebrities are denying that they were paid anything (and they certainly don’t need the money) while the Harris campaign people are saying that they were paid. It raises the question in my mind: did some of the campaign money go somewhere else?

The DNC can always approach Reed Hastings of Netflix for financing.

In 2024, Reed Hastings, the co-founder of Netflix, made significant contributions to the Democratic Party, particularly in support of Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. His most notable donation was a $7 million contribution to a super PAC backing Harris, which he described as the largest single campaign contribution he has ever made.

Additionally, Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, have been prominent Democratic donors over the years, contributing more than $20 million to the party since the Trump era. This includes previous donations of $1.5 million to support Joe Biden during the 2020 presidential race and $100,000 to assist Biden’s 2024 campaign.

California has a general rule requiring 60 days notice before layoffs can take effect. I guess the DNC found a loophole to exempt itself from this pro-labor rule. Or maybe it did not have any full time employees in California.

That is a ridiculous amount of money claimed to have been raised!

Makes one think either it was a false claim hoping to inspire confidence in the Harris campaign or that a political campaign a fine way to launder money.

Resorting to gofundme after endless months of fundraising is embarrassing.

I’ll accept that that fantastic number is accurate.

I don’t doubt the Harris campaign is in the red, but I do question how they got there. When Carville is looking for an accounting of how funds were spent (would have been nice if he felt the same way back in the 1990s), ActBlue appears to be unscrupulous, and there is a long history of relatives and personal ties to a candidate getting paid exorbitantly by campaigns, it would be naive to think there wasn’t cream skimmed off the top of that sum.
