Georgia On My Mind
As expected in this corner, Georgia switched from Trump’s column to Biden’s.
Which Polls Influencing the Switch

Rallies Don’t Matter, Votes Do
Voting Stampede
Nate Silver has Georgia at 51-49.
I have Georgia at 60-40 Biden. The momentum is noticeable, and as expected by me.
Yet a couple weeks back, I was mocked on Twitter for suggesting “Georgia is in Play”.
Guess what? Texas is now in play for biden.
Unlike Georgia, I do not expect Texas to flip, but it would not be surprising if it did.
Mish

“Rallies don’t matter” …votes do. Newsflash. If people will go to the trouble to attend a rally (it’s a hassle) they will vote. If they don’t attend…then no cares about you or your campaign. Let me fix your sentence for you….POLLS DONT MATTER-VOTES DO!!!!!!!!
“Disaster of a record as president.” What planet are you living on? He has accomplished more in 3 1/2 years than most presidents do in 8 years. Joe Biden and his son are as corrupt as the day is long and the proof is already being disseminated. I love the picture of Hunter Biden in bed with the crack pipe hanging from his mouth. I’m surprised there weren’t CCP members in the frame with him. So corrupt. Believe me, it’s OVER for Joe!
Timing in life is what life is all about. We get a certain amount of days to live and timing is one of the most important things.
We will see how much dirt is in existence on Biden. Pretty sure all the dirt is out on Trump. Just like last election this one will come down to the bombshells the week before the election.
Just to reflect on the past, one part of the impeachment of Trump was for something that Biden might just have to admit too. If a legitimate email exist that talked about Joe firing the Ukrainian prosecutor, it’s going to be had to cover up.
Incompetent Vs. corrupt. For government I choose incompetent.
“Pretty sure all the dirt is out on Trump. “
He’s like a filthy old rug… you can beat him a thousand times, and dirt will still come out.
The same could be said about Biden. The difference being the scandal around the censorship of the information on social media right now. Sources matter when it’s biden?
At what point does it become obvious the reporting has become very one sided?
I live in Texas and from what I am seeing here on the ground, Biden is going to take Texas. Just like Super Tuesday, the tide is rolling in for Biden. People I never imagined voting for him have told me they have had enough of Trump. He has to go.
You lefties are falling for the same ol’ trick. One would think you learned from the last election.
Texas is going blue? Stop it already. It has as much of a chance to go blue as freak-show California has to go red.
Mish, I don’t trust you or any of the Polls. All the “new” registered gun owners, the drop in “sports viewership”, namely the NBA, and the the people I know personally who voted for Hilary last election and have stated that they are voting for Trump this election, tells me it could be a landslide sans any significant mail in voter fraud. Biden is a very weak candidate, but go ahead and believe the polls like last election.
The polls were way off last time. Why do you think their right this time? Being a so called libertarian (that’s a joke), I kind of wish that Biden wins so I can hear you whine when the socialists take over.
i think one thing to make of the early voting stampede is people believe trump will actively suppress vote by mail so they’re voting early in person to ensure their vote is counted against trump (and quite possibly anyone with an R by their name for guilt by association)
Question: What three words scare Donald Trump the most?
Answer: ATTORNEY GENERAL CUOMO!
The momentum is unmistakable, this is a vote against Trump rather than from Biden(a flawed candidate put up to keep the two party system going).
The GOP is headed towards regional party status, they are going to get blown out. Arizona is also going Dem.
This is a vote against Trump because people see him being a danger to the present system, it’s a self interest vote for socialism from a majority portion of Americans, let’s see to what extent the Democrats deliver.
It is a referendum on Trump and he has tried so many times to change the script. He has not gotten any traction no matter what he has tried, many think it is Covid that did him in, but for at least 66 milion of us that was just proof that he is unfit for office as we have known since the russians installed him in 2016. Most of us already knew how we would be voting in 2020 if Tramp survived that long.
Yes it is a referendum and for you it’s ideological/outrage(self interest) but for the swing vote(seniors, white women, etc) this is a vote about self interest also, they do not want the current system to go anywhere.
The problem for Trump is that every time he does something, he plays to his core, and in the process he pisses more people off, and his support drops. When he got sick, and was not doing anything, people started thinking about Biden, and Trump’s support rose a few points. Now Trump is out and about again, and so Biden is out of the news, and Trump is in it, so Trump’s support is once again dropping.
LOL! We’ll see…
“the supreme court does not like ME, seniors do not like ME, suburban woman dont like ME” ME ME ME ME ME Enough of it!!
We’ll see if Michigan flips for the dementia guy. With all the hatred for gubbernor whitler spilling over, I doubt it.
Easily one of the least worthy posts I have ever seen at at Mish Talk. I just checked at 538 and you have to go all the way back to March 9 to find a Trump lead in Michigan, the average lead Biden has in the last month averages about 11 points.
You are entitled to your own private hell of stupidity but try not to piss yourself when Michigan is called for Biden about 8 minutes after the polls close.
It’s simply a case of the “silent majority” working in a direction different than in the 80s. The silent majority in Michigan is happy with Whitmer, while the minority that hates her makes a lot of noise. In the end the voting results will sort things out.
Herkie, you don’t get it, the “dementia guy” is Trump! He is demented.
Stan, thanks for the heads up, I wondered why Greggg was suddenly talking like a Trump supporter! 🙂
I would think that after what the right has done in MI that Trump can forget any hope there.
By the way, that whole episode was pretty shocking, there must be a lot of otherwise silent GOP types that were jolted out of complacency by that. I know if I were a R I would be very dismayed by it, as any reasonable human being would be. It is as though Trump was encouraging al Qaeda to blow up towers in Manhattan because he does not like Clinton and Cuomo, or like he was encouraging Tim McVeigh to blow up a federal building.
Of course his borg will never get it, they simply are ruined as people.
You are delusional if you think frail Biden and radical left Harris are going to win this election, especially with the Biden email scandal coming out recently. He won’t be able to sidestep those questions.
If Texas flips I will be very surprised….but delighted, actually.
Who knows…maybe our felony indicted AG who keeps right on grifting anyway…might get to trial eventually.
Texas flipping is a matter of time & demographics.
Probably wouldn’t have happened naturally until 2024 or 2028, but there’s nothing natural about Trump.
Agree. The Republican gerrymandering has also done a lot to keep Texas redder than it would be……I invite anybody to look at my congressional district…it’s pretty obviously drawn to keep it red. Little bits of major cities combined with a whole lot of rural counties..to dilute the Democrats out.
Trump defending a state like Texas should give the GOP palpitations
The GOP as we knew it no longer exists.
At best they are crippled and will never again win national office without some really massive changes. I say the far right is going to abandon the main party and form a new party of just outright nationalists (Nazis). Of course the far left/socialist “progressives” are pretty much two steps behind the far right in breaking the dems, so I can actually see a new center party of moderate GOP and democrats forming based upon willingness to work together, they would be a larger party than the far right and left combined.
I really, really, really,…,really hope this happens. Combining the (previous) fiscal discipline of actual conservatives with the willingness to fund fundamental social needs (and, yes, those two items would need to get negotiated) would be the best possible case I can see. Dropping the social control on the right and the fiscal overreach on the left can only be considered healthy.
“fiscal discipline of actual conservatives”
Where are these people? In 2017 99% of the R’s voted for a tax cut for the wealthy increasing the deficit to over 1T per year, at an economic highpoint when the deficit should be going down. So that counts out any of them. BTW: The whole “business investment” thing turn out to be a ruse, the corporate tax cut paid for buybacks.
I’m all for Herkie’s moderate center party…..but I know a lot of reasons that it is unlikely to ever happen.
No major media outlet is talking about that because the media outlets are all owned by billionaires, each with his own particular agenda,…and they don’t seem, as a group, to be very interested in fixing anything…because the present system suits them fine, for the most part. The ones (like Mike Bloomberg) who do have a real social conscience, are generally still hated by the liberals for being rich. There is a great deal of class envy in this country….
The DNC and the RNC are for all practical purposes, indestructible….because they are the link between the huge money and the candidates running for office.
So I don’t look for the Republican Party to go anywhere. In 2024 they’l be likely to run somebody like Ted Cruz or Mike Pence…….America’s version of austerity candidates who want to gut social programs, make the religious people happy by getting rid of Roe….and who really work for the super rich. Cruz’s wife is ex-Goldman…did you know that?
What have the Democrats got? A group of younger up-and-comers, many of whom are social justice warriors who subscribe to a bevy of terrible ideas. A few like Harris…she is likely to turn out to be much like Biden….an influence peddler, an opportunist who will serve the same corporate masters..when it’s all said and done.
We won’t get a centrist party that can win…for the very same reasons the Libertarians can’t win……it takes too much money to compete…and third parties are not able to raise the money they need.
The situation has gotten worse, not better, over time. Citizen’s United probably drove the nail in the coffin on change in America.
Agree 100%. Citizens United institutionalized fascism in the US, with fascism defined as a public-private partnership aka corporatism.
It truly is all about class. Much is made about race, but I can imagine a post-racial world in the next 200 years. I cannot imagine a post-class world.
Agree 100% Herkie
Really? The country as we know it no longer exists. That goes for both parties who could give a rats ass about anyone but themselves.
Understood Pilot. I’m non-partisan but I cannot stomach the Trump Cult one iota. Political reform is necessary but it must start with the destruction of the Trump Cult and the Republican Party. Then, as Herkie explained, the remnant of sane conservatives can join moderate liberals and ??? make the world safe for corporations???
Capitalism is not the enemy Mr.P, it is how that capitalism is applied, twisted, favored, and used by the wealthy and powerful as a tool to bleed the rest of us white.
Crony capitalism isn’t even capitalism at all, the incentive motivation that capitalism provides is just as much there at a 10% profit as it is at 100%. Nobody said capitalism is a free ride to wealth so staggering that thousands must starve and the very functions of capitalism themselves are strangled for capital because all the money is in so few hands. It is a fact that most have been brainwashed to think greed is good and it is NOT! Nearly every one of us would settle for having millions, tens of millions, there simply is no reason capitalism needs to allow billionaires, it is not required for the smooth functioning of capitalism, and providing a way for that excess unearned income to be recycled back into the economy putting people to work is eaasy, they can do it as a gift to the people that made them wealthy either through their good works or we can tax it away and put it to work in infrastructure improvements. A lot like Andrew Carnegie spent a large fortune to build gorgeous libraries in most towns without them to promote literacy.
There is an interesting phenomenon that when millionaires and billionaires get old they somehow find God, or at least sudden empathy for all the folks who they pillaged on route to fortunes. Carnegie, Rockefeller, Morgan – all establishing foundations to give away their money (and a nice tax dodge too) when they get old. It’s just what they do. Up next Gates, Buffet, Zuckerberg . . . Bezos????
Do you know Bezos has more than doubled his $100 billion fortune this year to no wover $200 billion?
Yes it is so big that I am surprised no major media outlets are talking about it.
Crawling through broken glass to vote.
The disgust is heart-felt.
Texas will be close. That is a story in itself
Yes, this is one FED UP nation.
Fed up world, and rightly so.
