This may not be exactly the same topic, but I have noticed that abuse is allowed on some topics on which reasoned discussion is not. It’s the reverse of the old Christian censorship of my youth (fifty-odd years ago), in which you couldn’t say nasty things about Jesus, his Mom, his step-dad, or the big guy, but serious discussion of things like biological evolution and geology got through without difficulty.
I first noticed this in our local newspaper, in which people were allowed to make uninformed comments such as that the police were good but the courts were bad, but if I tried to make a more reasoned comment, it wouldn’t get published. (I did often get published on other things, so it wasn’t my writing skills that made the difference.)

The sole purpose of the Executive branch is to efficiently and effectively implement and enforce those laws. It is Congress’s responsibility to use its power to impeach to ensure that members of the Executive branch perform their responsibilities. Thune simply isn’t man enough protect the Constitution of the United States. He could easily lead Republicans and Democrats to a position where they can agree to tell Trump they’re going to impeach the lot of them if they don’t get their sh1t together. Are the files still capable of being considered evidence?
They have been in so many different hands that things could have easily gone missing or been forged by now.
As for the whole Trump debate being in them, if there was anything in there that could be used without bringing down their own allies it would have been used when he ran for office.
How about we find out how solid the evidence is by indicting and prosecuting some of the people involved who have hundreds of mentions in the files? I think the poor billionaire friends of Epstein can afford the legal costs of defending themselves from child rape charges.
Even if there were no admissible evidence whatsoever in the Epstein Files, the allegations in them aren’t being seriously investigated.
To give one simple example. Epstein was not an attorney. So if Leon Black paid him how many hundred of millions for “tax advice” (lol – there’s no evidence that Epstein was a tax expert, and there are no real secrets in the tax advisory business, which is why actual tax advisers don’t get paid hundreds of millions) there is nothing to stop the FBI from deposing him under oath, demanding documents, etc.. Black cannot claim attorney-client privilege.
