The New York Times reports CNN Corrects a Trump Story, Fueling Claims of ‘Fake News’.

CNN on Friday corrected an erroneous report that Donald Trump Jr. had received advance notice from the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks about a trove of hacked documents that it planned to release during last year’s presidential campaign.

In fact, the email to Mr. Trump was sent a day after the documents, stolen from the Democratic National Committee, were made available to the general public.

Seriously, how hard is it to do some basic fact checking before reporting complete BS?

Apparently, it’s quite hard when the goal is a sensational headline and you need to be first with it.

At the outset I am not treating this as Trump Vs Media issue. I would be the first to accept that Trump says so many things that may also be fake and should also be held accountable. If you feel just because Trump gets away so should the media then we are on different pages. Both should not get away. If the rule of law allows this then this is what you get where each will get away with it.
As regards this…

Freedom for an individual or the press comes with responsibility. The responsibility of the press is they bring out the truth and not say something because it does not like Trump. That can have no bearing on the case.

So the media has NO responsibility to fact check or verify what it easily done by anyone willing to look? And that lack of responsibility infers no punitive actions, correct? And of all of these horrible lies Trump has told, which were actually aimed at the overthrow of an elected government? Trump’s opposition has clearly stated it is NOT their goal to simply constrain him in his actions and policies, but to REMOVE HIM FROM OFFICE. This is NOT the role of the forth or ANY estate. This is usurpation, a coup. It defies EVERYTHING our constitution sets out.

If it is so, that is also wrong. How can you make out that the error is intentaional or inadvertent? So just make it so that you cannot make a story. An increasingly punitive fine is the way to go, IMO. It should apply to anyone and everyone.

Even if the marketplace notes it it is for a day or week. IMO, that is not an enough deterrant. You eed to punish them severely enough that they will have to double check each and every story. Otherwise like now Trump, Media and plenty of others get away with murder because you can simply issue an apology later. I would apply it to the Fed and its 2% inflation or anything which has a bearing on citizens. These are lies, whatever name you give it!

“The news” is continually implying criminality and immorality upon Trump and his surrogates which has been proven FALSE at every attempt. We have Obama and Hillary telling truly criminal lies AND obstructing justice AND illegally surveiling political opponents whole your beloved forth estate ignores it. Aside from ideologies we should ALL be concerned with this as it is blatant corruption of all we hold dear. Having a media so one sided in truly a criminal attempt to usurp our democratic constitutional republic should strike fear into to anyone but a die hard communist. Communists understand what a media’s purpose is.

When being first is more important than being correct and fudging is the norm this is what happens. How do you change this? By punishing the offense more and more severely once it is established it is “fake news”. Start with $5mil and double every time. To ensure it is implemented you need something called rule of law, which is presently missing in the US. As long as rogues (you can include politicians, government agencies, bureaucrats, police who get off when they are in the wrong, media, banksters, central banksters in this category) are let off you will not get it also. Each moral transgression that faces no penalty adds to a porous law and order system and will go on till it stops. There is no other way this will stop. Also what moral authority can the others, including Trump, summon to question CNN.

You’re talking about people who know, and understand, nothing. Writing about people who know and understand nothing. For a self-selected audience who know and understand nothing. In all cases, nothing in the literal, technical sense. As in, no more likely to be right about anything at all whatsoever, than a broken clock. Hence, everything emanating from any of them, is pure random. How would you even attempt to go about differentiating “fake” from, I presume, supposedly “non-fake” news originating from anyone in that environment?

Just route around them. All of them. Go to a kennel and listen to its residents yap. It’s more informative and intelligent than anything you’ll ever hear, in the next billions and billions of years, from any of the above. Ditto for white noise.

Weren’t you the first American to quote Juncker: “When it gets serious you have to lie.” ? BezosBlog gets it with regard to the outright lie campaign against Moore. ABC got it with that Flynn / stock market lie. And CNN – ClearlyNotNews – got it with this lie. Sounds like MerelyOpinionMedia to me.

It is also not just CNN. KTLA ran an obstruction of justice story the other day. After mentioning Trump’s side of the issue, the anchor said “Diane Fienstein disagrees. KTLA suppressed comments by Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, who said, “If Congress were to ever charge him with obstruction of justice for exercising his constitutional authority under Article 2, we’d have a constitutional crisis,” he explained. “You cannot charge a president with obstruction of justice for exercising his constitutional power to fire Comey and his constitutional authority to tell the Justice Department who to investigate, who not to investigate. That’s what Thomas Jefferson did. That’s what Lincoln did. That’s what Roosevelt did. We have precedents that clearly establish that.” I had to find that quote somewhere other than KTLA news.
