Disregarding the political aspect, the under 30s generation were economically spoiled, growing-up during the height of the Fed’s subsidies and pandemic bailouts. Powell’s inflationary 2 percent long-rates in 2019 produced historic low unemployment, which gave the average employee dominance over employers. Inflationary pandemic subsidies paid the under 30s to stay home, and then remote work for 2 years or more. Now, the Fed’s tank is empty and long-rates are returning to their mean. Employers demand RTO. This group wants the once in a century good times back. This is why one pollster commented, they’ve never seen this kind of dissatisfaction.

Still, 9% approve on what he has done for inflation.

This is the mind-bending aspects of polling — there’s always a percentage of people that support something unimaginable. So much for polls as oracles.

I don’t blame voters under 30, or 40 as well, because I didn’t know what was going on at those ages but inflation is caused by too much debt and new money creation and those two things have been done for decades under both R and D Congress, and many presidents. If you really want to stand against inflation, vote Libertarian, the only party which support a balanced budget, but remember that even any Libertarian politician could be dishonest and vote for deficit spending if they got elected, which is why people should to watch what they do, meaning how they vote for bills, a lot more than what they say, and hold them accountable at the ballot box.

I don’t know who you’re referring to, but if it’s democratic candidates, that’s just untrue. It’s been a major campaign issue for many of the highest profile Democratic candidates including ossof, talarico, hinojosa, sherrod Brown, and many others. Recent Democratic strategy is to investigate the major banks ties to Epstein.

So 25% inflation during the last administration didn’t trigger a worse rating…perhaps because the stimulus packages that inflamed it also got them by…but prices (and debt) stayed, the medication was temporary. I’m still waiting for the demonrat policy that is going to fix it long term since historically we know that the inflation IS the only non draconian (?) austere policy, non default way they will both choose to address the explosion of debt financed growth for 5 decades off the gold peg. Talk about a single issue poll/vote and one that pretends we can’t look back and compare. Iran and diesel will be the easy target, as it should be, but it’s the debt and cost of it that ain’t going away. Corporate profits and the wealth of the asset holders are the receipt holders of the inflation and I see none of them, a large chunk of them democrats, any more willing to give back than those dissatisfied under 30 cohort.

The party of 25% inflation may win in the country of poor memory but the fun part you’re waiting for may be watching what they do once they are back in power…. they’ll do nothing, claim they need the white house too… and, then what… how about a specific proposal, be bold, tell me how you’ll govern. Because I remember change I could believe in and a very specific cost proposal aimed at health care, that president’s namesake landmark legislation, that’s now a big inflationary mess. McCain/Palin the other unpalatable choice that year.

20 years, both parties. Inflation their only policy choice. And every think tank white paper presents it as choice 1. Every other choice is bad in a different, more severe way. Point is, what are the democrats proposing to end the inflation regime.

The under 30 poll makes sense.
Gas and groceries (and housing and everything in between) will get their daily attention. But it’s been baked into the cake. The real solution is unpalatable to most commenters of this blog, the 17 straight years of massive enrichment thru inflationary receipts. You giving it back? You accepting significantly lower returns? Im down for that, are you? I honestly know i can handle tuna and peanut butter sandwiches for 20 years, grew up in austerity. Cuz that’s what is gonna take, a buckle up buttercup decades long period. But, once in power, everyone chooses inflation, even the not-new alternative demonrats.

The electors want the pain from 40 trillion indebtedness to go away painlessly. Won’t and cannot work. Because individually if you lent money to Uncle Sam right now what interest rate would you need to charge? And that same under 30 cohort would pick a number north of 5. Every financial planner would say a number closer to 10. How’s that gonna work mathematically. It can’t. And it’s global. And it’s why global tensions are high.

Ain’t nothing of what’s coming gonna be fun.

The Democrats haven’t had a plan in 10 years, other than to campaign on “We’re not Trump”.

The Republicans have no plan either, other than to campaign on “Democrats are woke”.

They both know they don’t need a plan, because Americans are so stupid they will vote for one of them no matter what they do.

I think one of the reasons the political process broke is because of the primary system. The extremes have come to dominate the primaries both for the Democrats and the Republicans. So when we get to the general election the general public is faced with two bad choices, one from either extreme. I don’t know how to fix this, although going to a top 2 primary system like what exists in California and Washington might help. In both of those states, voters are generally satisfied with the system, even though it frequently does result in the two candidates in the general election being from the same party. In this case, the debates become about policy positions, and the more moderate candidate can win. The problem: leadership of both the Democratic and Republican parties have consistently opposed it.

Depends on whether you define democracy narrowly as you do or as the representative republic that is supposed to behave democratically. Otherwise the “representative” part is a lie, yes?

The definition you’re using isnt unheard of. But I think it doesn’t help. Youre arguing a technicality.

As much as I clearly dislike our rulers and propagandists, they all always refer to their oligarchy representative regimes as “democracy”. So, even though we r not, the idea of “a government being governed effectively of the people, by the people, and for the people” is an aspirational goal.

TL;DR: Please stop arguing “it’s not a democracy, it’s a republic”. It’s semantics.

Everybody knew Trump was working for Israel. But we thought he would also work for the American people. Now it is pretty sobering to realize that he ONLY works for Israel and even against his own people in may ways. The only topic I still agree with him is how he handles migration. European governments in Germany, UK and France use mass invasion as a tool against their own people. They are arguably 1000 times worse than Trump.

It is amazing to see how fast the implosion of this administration is happening now. When Trump came into office, I had two questions–

  1. Would this be the most corrupt administration in history? That has been unequivocally answered as yes, ranging from Trump’s selling of meme coins to enriching his family with Saudi deals to selling early access to his posts to selling pardons to people whom he can’t even remember the names of, etc. etc.
  2. Would this be the most incompetent administration in history. There is still 2 years left to go, but it seems likely. We have just had a press secretary last 5 days. OK, not a huge point by itself, but what it points out is that there seems to be no competance left in this administration on anything, even including things like vetting whether someone is remotely capable of performing a job they are being appointed to. Then there are more important fiascos of the week like buying Russian diesel, which benefits Russia far more by providing them with money than any benefit it will provide to Americans.

The surprising thing to me is that Trump’s rating on inflation isn’t at -82 in all age categories, not just those under 30.

In a prior thread, someone casually repeated the claim (that I used to agree with) that Oceania has a good system of government. Judging by the results, China has a better form of government. And the contrast in results is stark.

China has elections at the local level, where voters might actually know something about candidates. The lower level then nominates and votes on whom to promote to the next level. In this scenario, the voters know the candidates pretty well. Repeat that for anothert 2-3 levels up and you end up with Xi. In 70 years since a revolution and despite all kinds of foreign sabotage (including attempted color revolutions), Chinese serfs now live as well as Oceania serfs. And China seems to be pulling ahead, all without mass-murdering people around the globe and denying other nations (via coups, occupation, media control and propaganda) the right to self-determination. In my book, this is success.

Contrast that with Oceania.

Oceania currently has Donald Trump. Before that, Joe Biden. Two back-to-back octogenarian dementia cases. Yet there is no 25A case in sight. The top people are either rapist pedos or defend the same, as accessories before or after the fact. Is there a need to discuss the unpunished crimes of the past 20 years within the financial system, MIC, medical system, or elsewhere to conclude it is not a “nation of laws”?

Oceania mass murdered across the continent and then across the globe, during its entire existence. Plus slavery, apartheid for a century more until the 1960s, and now (a lesser insult of) indentured servitude of its (purposely) miseducated youth regardless of color.

Despite successfully engineering and coming out on top of ww2 and then the hybrid war against the USSR (mortally wounded from ww2, just like the French empire), you wouldnt know it from looking at its former great cities in the Rust Belt. Average real earnings for the bottom half are back to 1970s or, if you use non-regime inflation metrics, worse. To stay solvent, Oceania devalues its currency at an ever-alarming rate, imposing costs on its serfs domestically and within its financial colonies. It is a bankrupt system that depends on the productivity of others or stealing their resources.

Oceania government is unable to reach a stable steady state within its own footprint, let alone do good for its serfs. In my book, this is failure.

Well [hushed tone] just between you and me, I already exited. Not in a 45′ Bruce Roberts cruiser like yours. I made too many bad financial decisions and worked for too many crappy employers along the way. So, I’m in a — let’s call it — a 25′ Catalina. (Completely metaphorical. I am a land lubber.)

I saw a small light decades ago, when someone told me something that didnt sit right. For the next 8 years, I read and argued and read online. I learned from a few dozen blogs. Sometimes, I reached the blog wall like Jim Carrey in The Truman Show, discovered it was controlled opposition, and moved onto adjacent blogs that went deeper and farther outside the Overton Window.

Took more than an intense decade to reassess everything. Not just the “news” occurring during the present or during my lifetime but all the fake history we’d been taught during our gullible youth. Many enlightened people never revisit the history part.

Eventually, I started making and executing plans.

Most people don’t nearly understand the toxicity of “the information environment they swim in”. Once you see it for what it is, it’s tiresome to be subjected to it relentlessly.

I think most of the elites are steeping in it too, because most of them seem to be “true believers” — not faking it. Due to compartmentalization, they “don’t know what they don’t know” about lies that have been told (in the present or especially the past).

Anyway, am glad to be living now in a relatively rural backwater surrounded by people whose language I dont understand. I doubt they’re significantly better informed by their telly (aka YouTube) than where I left. But at least I dont understand them. Rather than exerting myself rejecting nonsense bombarding me at a conscious level, the noise stops at my ear.

very interesting. up to a point. i’d suggest you take a deep dive into Xi childhood. and what happened to his father, a very close revolutionary of chairman Mao. his father was starting to ease up on the people a small bit. so Mao sent in the goons to kill him and rape Xi sister and Xi lived in a cave for a few years. moral of story. even an old war buddy that helped you take over the most populated country during a very very long and brutal civil war, is expendable if they show any signs of weakness. i don’t think your analysis is valid. of how china works, since Xi took power for LIFE. the liberal china lasted a few decades. that’s over. the more interesting thing imho is the valid rumors that Xi is not well. and he has purged every strong man around him in past few years. at the money show in orlando last week there was some high ranking usa intelligence officers discussing this. food for thought.

Babies on bayonets, Gaddafi rape drugs, babies from incubators, red purges, yellow peril, the terror. … I doubt these stories about Mao and Xi. And I especially doubt “intelligence officers” peddling them.

Empires spend considerable resources crafting fake stories to shape perspectives, to turn targeted leaders into bogeymen. These stories sound like too many others discredited as fake but also very difficult to falsify (to help them “stick” to people already biased). Indeed, there are always waaaay too many more floating around than independent researchers (who are /not/ funded by your tax dollars) can afford to debunk.

People in that biz might truly believe what they say, because they believe they had or retain “inside knowledge”. But do they? Seemingly glossed over or forgotten even by the “former” insiders who share these stories, empires compartmentalize effort on everything including the lie factory, to minimize leaks (sometimes due to simple bragging, like when certain people publicly gloated about NS2) that otherwise undermine the fake stories being peddled.

Surely many “intelligence officers with inside knowledge” were told and believed the story about “the Vietnamese attacked the Maddox”. Or, more geographically relevant, almost everyone I meet believes the NED-sponsored version of the Tienanmen Square event, whereas FOIA releases and other independent journalism led me to believe Warshington killed more people in Waco — men, women, and children who weren’t even a threat to the government! let alone infiltrated and repurposed by foreigners.

Because many people trust these ‘intelligence officers’—especially the retired ones—they’re a natural conduit for laundering fake stories. They go on the talk-show circuit, sincerely repeating what they were told, and their sincerity sells it. They’re not lying. They’re effective tools. And that’s by design: empires tell their best lies to their own people, especially the ones inside the machine. Just like a philanderer saves his most convincing story for his wife, because she’s the one most likely to catch him and do the most harm. The empire does the same with its MIC employees.

Apparently you’re not a “Christian” Zionist.

Apparently you’re not my senile Muslim-hatin’ mom, who won’t turn down Mike&Molly or Faux News while complaining she can’t hear me on the phone.

Do they teach economics as a high school subject in America any more? From what I can make out, they have given up teaching it in Australia. I suppose even with all the mystification they used in my day, they got too many questions and raised too many doubts.

Not sure it was ever taught in high school.
Economics is usually offered as an elective course, at the college level.

Positively Nixonian! Now all he has to do is cause rich people a ton of money with a financial crash and he’ll be impeached

Would Donald Epstein even deny being a crook? Wouldn’t he prefer to claim he was the best crook ever?

I’d like to see William Shatner costumed as Trump speak-singing My Way, bragging about everything he’s done for himself.

[1 hour later]. Okay, I could not resist.

……

And now, the end is near —
and so I grant my self-pardon.
My friend, I’ll say it clear:
I won. I won. Of that I’m certain.

I’ve lived a life that’s full —
I’ve grabbed, and groped, and stiffed the servants.
And more, much more than this —
I did it my way.

Regrets? I’ve had a few —
but then again, too few to mention.
I fired Comey. True.
I’d do it twice. With more intention.

I planned each grifted scheme —
each bathroom doc, each Sharpie-drawn direction.
And more, much more than this —
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times — you know the kind —
I Truth’d it first, then left you blind.
I issued my coin, I pumped the price,
then cashed the bribes — so clean, so nice.
I faced the probe — and stood real tall —
and did it my way.

I loved free jets, from violent thugs —
I cancelled treaties, without a shrug.
I kept the docs beside the loo —
tremendous toilet. Classified. It’s true.

I swear I was shot — Butler, PA.
Then killed the probe. What can I say?
They found a gunman — in the shrubs —
four hundred yards off. Tremendous clubs.

I told them “fight” — peacefully!
Then watched from the couch. So comfortably.
I took the call. I made it “perfect.”
The favor’s real. The crowd was worth it.

For what is a man? What has he got?
If not his kids — placed in every slot.
My son-in-law, my daughter, too —
I put ’em everywhere. That’s loyalty, you knew.

The record shows I took the blows —
and stiffed the lawyers, Lord, it shows.
To say the things I truly feel —
the election’s stolen. That’s the deal.

The record shows I took the blows —
and did it my way.

YES. I DID IT MY WAY.
