How to Save Money New York Style
- Step One: Announce a $3,750 tax on commuters
- Step Two. Announce a hold on the tax until after the election.

- Step Four: Explain how this was a new path forward
- Step Five: Proudly brag about saving New Yorkers $1,500

Washington had a $7mill total budget. Jefferson around $10mill. Those sums sounds about reasonable for a free society. Kept to such budgets, exactly whether Pocahontas or Adolf got to preen around being Dear Leader for any given period, wouldn’t really matter all that much. Which is what does matter.
Or, channeling Zapata: The purpose of overthrowing Dear Leader, is not so that you get to sit on his throne instead. But, instead, the purpose is to burn the throne down altogether.

I fled NY State during the reign of Cuomo the Elder. Outside of the movies, I never saw a help wanted sign until I left. NOTHING gets built unless there is a subsidy, grant, tax break or special dispensation.

If you still vote in Federal elections it means you have not been paying attention.
The only problem with this reasoning is that the $15 congestion pricing plan was not Hochul’s idea. It’s been on the drawing board for a very long time, but the latest version came from Cuomo and Mayor Adams. It’s more like if a contractor bid $20k to replace your HVAC and I came in and got them to reduce it to $15k, I could legitimately claim I saved you $5k, rather than being accused of costing you $15k.
The other thing you didn’t note is the price will still rise to $15 by 2031, so it’s a temporary reduction. And once it’s in place the price increases will keep coming, it will probably be $30 by 2035.

Now talk about permitting/regulation for construction. It’s laughable that topsoil landscaping and satellite or solar panel installation is anyone’s business who is not the owner. An 8ft by 10ft shed in the backyard requires a permit in a mind blowing number of jurisdictions.
A lot of them don’t care because they don’t have to pay the tax. They just want all the freebies. It’s possible in the next election NY may go red. There were a lot more Republic votes in NY and CA this election.
NY and CA have done an amazing job, bring in more and more voters to keep it up. Both States have a majority “Takers” now, and that’s the “Magic” number!
To Fleece the “Working Taxpayer Public” you must have More Non-Workers collecting and living off of them. More Taxes than expenditures and so much higher taxes are needed. This is such a small take by the City off of the backs of Residents.

I saw just the headline and the first thing i thought was Hochul, as i had seen the clip of her speech earlier today.
After the 2008 recession, a ballot proposition passed to temporarily tax the wealthy for additional school funds, after state budget cuts. When it expired, there was proposition to extend or make it permanent. Proponents said it wouldn’t raise taxes. It did for the people who were required to continue paying the tax past the expiration date, as their taxes would have dropped.

She saved them money by cutting from $15 to $9. If she really wanted to help, she could have cut it from $100 to $9 – a 91% reduction.

Here in NY State the dems condemned my old Corolla which ran perfectly by computerizing the safety sticker process a couple years ago.. There were NO safety issues at all. Thousands of good, safe, clean running, older cars have been removed like this here. They have cost me more than I make or have. I had to apply for more gov assistance. They don’t seem to care about that. I guess I don’t either anymore. At least not until I have extracted the value they stole, which is unlikely as I am 70+ and can only get a few little gigs.
Here in CA, if a car is unable to pass safety/smog tests, then the state will pay you $1000 to $1500 to get it off the road.

Steve, move to Florida. There are no emissions tests in Florida so your car will never be removed from the road until you decide.
It’s better than nothing. If your car doesn’t pass smog here, you CANNOT register or drive it. Our air is much cleaner than it was 40 years ago because of policies like this. Not everything in CA is bad.
