When I first heard this story I thought it was sarcasm or a temporary publicity stunt. But it’s ongoing. Here are the details involving New York City and D.C.
USA Today reports ‘Make my day’: Texas Gov. Abbott challenges NYC Mayor Adams over migrant busing dispute
Texas Governor Greg Abbott is firing back at New York City Mayor Eric Adams after he threatened to send bus loads of New Yorkers to Texas to campaign against Abbott’s re-election bid.
“I kind of feel like Clint Eastwood. Go ahead, Mayor. Make my day,” Abbott publicly declared Wednesday.
The dueling politicians have gone back and forth since the Lone Star State began busing migrants from the Texas-Mexico border to the Big Apple on Aug. 5.

No Plan for What’s Next
NPR reports GOP governors sent buses of migrants to D.C. and NYC — with no plan for what’s next
For months now, the governors of Texas and Arizona have been sending charter buses full of migrants and refugees to Washington, D.C.’s Union Station, just a few blocks from the Capitol building.
When they disembark, they find neither the local nor federal government there to meet them.
According to Abbott’s office, more than 6,100 migrants have been bused to D.C. from Texas alone. They arrive six days a week, as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 11 p.m. — sometimes multiple buses each day.
And on Friday, Abbott said the first bus had arrived in New York City.
The Texas Tribune reports How Gov. Greg Abbott exported a border crisis to New York City
When he appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity” last week, Gov. Greg Abbott kept smiling.
Four months prior, he had announced that the state of Texas was planning to bus migrants from near the Texas-Mexico border to Washington, D.C., a move that drew mixed reviews — even among conservatives — and soon fell off the political radar. But then New York City Mayor Eric Adams began raising alarms about the impact on his city.
“This just shows the hypocrisy of these liberal leaders up in the northeast who think, ‘That border crisis created by Joe Biden, that’s fine as long as Texas has to deal with it,’” Abbott told the host, Sean Hannity. “But as soon as they have to deal with the real consequences of Biden’s border-caused crisis, they are up in arms.”
Washington, DC Mayor Asks US Military for 90 Days of Help With Illegal Immigrants
Finally, please consider Washington, DC Mayor Asks US Military for 90 Days of Help With Illegal Immigrants
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser on Aug. 11 renewed her call for U.S. military assistance to deal with the surge of illegal immigrants the nation’s capital has encountered after governors of border states began busing the immigrants to the city.
The initial request for National Guard assistance from Bowser, a Democrat, was rejected by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, a Biden appointee, earlier in August.
Instead of asking for an open-ended deployment, Bowser in the new request asked for 90 days of help, with a proposed reevaluation of the mission on Dec. 1.
If approved, Guard personnel would provide logistical support to the Washington government, helping establish and manage new sites to house and feed the illegal immigrants.
“The Guard is uniquely resourced to provide emergency logistical support,” Bowser wrote.
That’s what’s going on.
Question: Is interstate transportation of illegal immigrants itself legal? The answer appears to be yes.
Is so, does it change your answer?

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
In regards to the sending of immigrants to NYC and DC with “no plan for what is next,” the border areas are overrun and out of resources. We know a couple living in a Texas border city (the wife is a legal immigrant from Mexico) and they say there is a massive strain on their resources. The immigrants often come here with nothing and no actual specific plan of what is next.

Andrew Yang isn’t a bad guy, but he had several contradictions. On one hand he said we needed to keep letting in and make it easier to let in low skill workers as immigrants, while simultaneously saying that in terms of AI and automation this time is different and we’ll have massive amounts of unemployed people in the near future so we need a UIB program to off set this permanent unemployment about to fall upon low skill people.
Sounds like a great way to force someone into a life of crime to survive.
