Germany Ponders Banning its Second Most Popular Political Party

Similar to US states attempting to ban Trump from elections, Germany is discussing banning AfD, its second largest political party.

Image from Wikipedia, anecdotes by Mish

If you don’t like the popularity of the opposition, ban it.

SPD won the last federal election and struggled to form a coalition. Eventually it came to terms with the Greens and FDP, dubbed the Traffic Light Coalition based on the colors of the party flags.

Problems arose from the start because FDP is pro-business and the Greens are as far from pro-business as you can get. The Traffic Light has gone from 52% in the last election to 33 percent today.

FDP’s price for jumping into this bed is a collapse from 11.5 percent to 5.0 percent. This puts FDP on the bubble. It takes a minimum of 5 percent of the vote (with certain exclusions) to get ant seats in Parliament.

Germany Is Thinking of Simply Banning the Far Right

On December 13, Foreign Policy noted Germany Is Thinking of Simply Banning the Far Right

Last week, Germany’s domestic intelligence agency took the dramatic step of classifying the Saxony state branch of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party as a threat to democracy—a potential first step towards banning it outright as unconstitutional. “There can be no doubt about the extreme right orientation of this party,” declared Dirk-Martin Christian, president of Saxony’s State Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

Although Germany has, in the past, exercised constitutional powers in the name of domestic security to rein in hardcore far-right (and radical leftist) forces, the objects of censure were marginal neo-Nazi parties and associations that had no chance of coming to power—even at the municipal level or in coalition governments. The AfD is a different story. Opinion polls show the AfD as the strongest party by far today in eastern Germany; riding a powerful wave of anti-immigrant sentiment, it has also notched record tallies in western German state elections and is poised to win the most votes next year in the country’s eastern half. It could conceivably wield executive power, should conservatives—such as the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) or the pro-business Free Democratic Party (FDP)—consider it in their interests to treat the far-right party as a legitimate expression of popular will.

Moreover, in the wake of Geert Wilders’s far-right Party for Freedom’s victory in the Netherlands in November, like-minded contenders across Europe, including the AfD, are expected to perform better than ever in June’s European Parliament election, an event that would have ominous ramifications for the European Union—and beyond.

Much like the rulings on Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, Germany’s intelligence agency declared that leading members and functionaries of the Saxony AfD regularly express racist, Islamophobic, and antisemitic sentiments. It labeled the branch as one with “typically ethnic-nationalistic positions” and said that both it and its national youth organization work in tandem with known neo-Nazi and officially banned movements, such as the Reichsbürger movement.

Elites Panic

MSN reports Elites Panic After Underrepresented Right-Wing Party Becomes Biggest Party In Germany

The MSN article is a word-for-word copy of ‘Can’t Beat Em, Ban Em’: Governing German Party Suggests Banning Surging Populist Opposition written four days ago.

The articles are wrong. AfD is not the largest party in Germany but it might be the largest party in East Germany.

Behold, the Rise of the Anti-Greens

I have been writing about this story for a while. On July 24, 2023 I proclaimed Behold, the Rise of the Anti-Greens

A major revolt is underway in the EU. Citizens have finally had enough of Green nonsense. The latest polls provide all the evidence you need.

The German AfD party is now polling 22 percent ahead of every party other than Union (CDU/CSU).

Germany is now approaching the point that even if all the centrist parties united in a super-grand coalition that might not top 50 percent.

Super-Grand Coalition

Let’s do the math on that idea, using the lead chart.

SPD + Union (CDU/CSU), + Greens = 16 + 31 + 12 = 59. That’s still a comfortable majority.

However, these parties mix like anchovies, beer, and ice cream.

Wilders’ Freedom Party Wins Netherlands Election

  • “De-Islamization” of the Netherlands
  • Ban the Quran, shut mosques
  • Close the borders to migrants from Islamic countries.
  • “Nexit” Referendum to Leave the EU

Unexpected Win

In an unexpected election result (but shouldn’t have been), Far-Right Populist Geert Wilders Scores Major Victory in Dutch Election

Wilders’ Freedom Party, or PVV, which has promised to halt all immigration to the Netherlands, was set to win 37 out of 150 seats in the country’s parliament, based on projections by Dutch news agency ANP based on results from almost all voting districts. The PVV’s closest rival, former European Commissioner Frans Timmermans’ Labor/Green Left coalition, was projected to secure 25 seats.

37 out of 150 seats does not sound link much, but PVV is the top vote getter. Generally, the winning party will form a coalition, but the other parties have generally pledged not to be in government with him.

This gets harder and harder to do, especially when every party is extreme right or extreme left.

France Tries to Keep Marine le Pen Off the Ballot

On December 14, I noted EU Integration Stopped and Is Now Headed in Reverse

The EU has always been dysfunctional. But integration and cooperation are now going backward. Hoping to stop the threat, Marine le Pen faces charges dating back to 2015.

By any strange coincidence do events in Germany and France sound familiar with events in the US?

Monumental Supreme Court Decision

In the US, Colorado and Maine declared Trump could not be on the ballot in those states due to insurrection. Illinois is on deck considering the same.

For discussion, please see Pelosi Says States Should Decide on Trump, Supreme Court Will Rule Otherwise

Complete Destruction of the Middle

In Germany, the US, and the Netherlands there is a complete destruction of the middle. France appears headed in that direction.

Why Biden’s Approval Rating Is Miserable in One Economic Chart

Income is rising and so are wages. Even real income is up. But real wages are another matter.

Personal income data from the BEA, hourly wages from the BLS, real hourly earnings and chart by Mish.

On January 2, I explained why Why Biden’s Approval Rating Is Miserable in One Economic Chart

In the US, people struggle with rent and the cost of food, and Biden is wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on untenable Green projects. And he wants wants hundreds of billions more for wars in Israel and Ukraine that are essentially none of our business.

Also The Free Money Has Run Out and it Shows in the Polls

The third and largest round of fiscal stimulus was in March of 2021. That’s when Biden’s popularity peaked at 55.1 percent.

People are fed up with inflation, green lunacy, and warmongering everywhere, but the Left keeps doubling down.

“If you don’t like the popularity of the opposition, ban it.”

Nazis were genuinely popular back in the day. Are you surprised that Germans contemplate banning a party that they fear could be the second coming of the Nazis?

Put in other words: if the American Civil War had happened within living memory of some people today, would you be surprised that people stomped over signs of support for the confederacy? Forget the “if”, you do know that people in the USA get hysterical about that, in spite that it’s ancient history for you. So what’s the surprise here?

Oh, I know. You are terrified of the possibility of the same thing happening in the USA. Don’t worry, that is a rather unlikely doom for the USA, the way things are going. The most likely doom is WWIII/civil war, one, the other, or combined. That’s because you are too far gone to do the semi-sensible thing and get a military junta taking over the government semi-peacefully (and banning all political parties in the process). And it’s unlikely that you will break up the United States semi-peacefully either.

In short, don’t worry about the semi-peaceful solutions for your predicament, you are goal-seeking straight for the bloodbath, I reckon.

That is the pushed narrative. And it’s false. People in Germany and other countries of EU are fed up with the so called “migrant” influx. In Germany – if I remember correct – the numbers of illegal and mostly uncounted number is close to 2 million. Robberies, assaults, rapes, drug trafficking, prostitution, human trafficking and even killings are an everyday occurrence nowadays.

And the signs are clear, even the fraction of the left is demanding same kind of changes as the so called far right. That should open the eyes to see but I believe that some like it better in their personal bubbles.

Two days ago Germanys political landscape got a new arrival, Sahra Wagenknecht Union, a leftist separation from main party, which program contains many similar demands as are in “right-wing” party programs.

Also, in couple of weeks there is a new incomer, “Value Union” which is believed to attract voters from AfD and CDU which its former voters believe to be leaning too much towards the left.

Germanys political map is in turmoil and with this speed changes will be radical.

Just a little anecdote from Germany from a while back.
An asylum claim was finally rejected for a refuge applicant. The authorities dutifully informed the deportee of the date and time of deportation order fulfillment. When the police arrived at the address, they were surprised not to find the deportee waiting for them. But everything was done according to the book.

So the German Illegal Immigrants = 350,000
And the German Population = 83 M

Germany is having these issues, in a small country, which should be much easier to locate them, or sort of know where they are basically located.

US Illegal Immigrants = 3.1 M
US Population = 340 M
Now think about how America will look like in 3 years or so…

Here in America things are much more dysfunctional politically than they are in Germany. First of all I can prove to you that Satan is a Democrat. Also there’s another powerful force that seems likes it’s becoming a political party, the Taylor Swift party. You can’t say one negative thing about this woman. It kind of reminds me years ago when someone criticized the Clintons, they soon ended up dead.

I’m truly sorry for whatever it is that is causing you to suffer. Spiritual warfare is real and goes on 24-7. Years ago we told our kids, now in their 50’s, that life is difficult, it’s unfair, expect adversity and at times expect to suffer. We also taught them to embrace Christianity because it is true. In the beginning before the fall our ancestors lived in a perfect world, uncontaminated by sin in a Paradisal state as CS Lewis states. Their eventual disobedience corrupted the whole of creation, perverted human nature bringing evil, suffering and death into the world. God who is not in time knew this would happen and in his love for man, already had an amazing plan in place to rescue humanity. I can only tell you what worked for me. Before you begin to investigate spiritual truth, you must soften your attitude as demonic spiritual forces I promise will try to disrupt you. Maybe start with Lewis in The Problem of Pain. Important as it is the first half of this book is difficult. If you have trouble skip to chapter 6, Human Pain. Read Lewis-Mere Christianity. The chapter on Pride, the Great Sin, is the most important. If possible please read all Lewis books, especially The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce. Lewis also has a collection of short essays that are amazing. Check out The Poison of Subjectivism- only about 8 pages long but read the other ones like Man or Rabbit-they’re wonderful! In only 10 minutes you can read Lewis-CS Lewis on the Gethsemane of Jesus- it’s absolutely amazing the mystery of what Lewis explains as to what exactly is really going on here! Also check out Peter Kreeft.com for 50 or 60 great spiritual podcasts each lasting about an hour fun to listen to. Be sure to listen to the one on Desire if you can find it. Also check out Lewis top 100 quotes. Finally among many things Lewis said remember this- All your life an unattainable ecstasy has hovered just beyond the grasp of your consciousness. The day is coming when you will wake to find, beyond all hope, you have achieved it, or it was within your reach and you have lost it forever.

The mainstream has been trying to block and isolate (cordon sanitaire) so-called populist parties for more than two decades, but they just keep growing instead.

Why? Very simple. It is a protest vote; people might not even be that enamored by any particular party platform proposals.

What are they protesting? The fact that no matter who you vote in, some iteration of the same elites land up ignoring the people and forcing their own pet hobby horses, convinced as they are that they are serving the cause of righteousness, the people be damned.

What are the most salient points on which the people are being ignored?
Bread & butter concerns, neighborhood crime, prices, schools, housing, and most particularly, continually changing the composition of the population for 50 years straight now.

A. Merkel turned this party into a far-left organisation und now the conservatives leave this organisation and found a new party. This party wil collaborate with the people from the AfD and this will change everything in Germany. Rationality will return.

“Germany is discussing banning AfD, its second largest political party.”

Ironically, Chris Martinson posted a Youtube 6 days ago titled “Witnessing Democracy’s Decline: My Reflections and Fears.”
Have not viewed it.

The politicians claiming to be protecting democracy are working to destroy it. Those people are afraid of democracy. If i remember correctly, Pelosi said they had to impeach Trump because voters might make the wrong decision. That was election interference.
That is not what free and fair elections are made of. Considering the Zelenski phone call was legal, the impeachment was a fraud committed against democracy.

Calls to ban AFD are more of the same. It isn’t democracy if the people don’t have the right to choose. Cameron in Britain, allowed Scotland referendum on leaving, believing it was going to fail. Then polls showed increased sentiment to leave, sending Cameron into panic mode. After the referendum failed, Cameron said another referendum wouldn’t be allowed. Obama went to Britain to meddle in Brexit. It was none of his business. It was the British people’s business. Once passed, the next Prime Minister appeared to be working to sabotage it, resulting in Johnson replacing her.

Deja Vu for me and you as Germany has been there, done that:

“The Law Against the Formation of Parties…was a measure enacted by the government of Nazi Germany on 14 July 1933 that established the Nazi Party (NSDAP) as the only legal political party in Germany.

SCOTUS will overrule the States attempting to ban Trump.
DC will rule Trump does not have immunity…
but it won’t matter until SCOTUS actually agrees.

Historical rhyme in process:

Hitler was jailed for a failed coup before rising to power.
With his firm grip on a delusional Republican Party…
Trump could do the same.

Just as in the US, the political divide in Europe is between the establishment and the anti-establishment. The psychopaths in power rule without the least concern for their populations. They are driven by the money flows from the oligarchs. The real question is, what do the oligarchs want?

In this regards, we see why Western governments hate Putin. He came in a put a stop to the Russian oligarch’s exploitation of Russia under Yeltsin. As the West’s dream of global domination recede and their grip on power at the national level is threatened, expect crack downs, vilification and divide and conquer strategies. The evil oligarchs feel threatened and they are sure to lash out.

There’s a theme emerging here… Democrats want to ban the Republican party; German equivalents of the Democrat extremists want to ban their new Republican-equivalent party; in the UK, concerted efforts were made to debank and marginalise the UK equivalent of the Republican party – the Reform Party (Brexit Party, UKIP).
The Communist totalitarians in China, Russia, Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, every other dictatorship, want to ban their opposition parties…

In the words of Antipodean sketcher Rolf Harris… “can you tell what it is yet?”

Rinky Stingpiece

Clearly whatever the merits or demerits of the alternative parties in question, as with Brexit, the fact that we have reached the point in western developed liberal democracies where the media and political establishment openly campaign against the freely expressed will of the people and seek to ban the parties of the freely expressed will of the people, it is, by any measure, a complete and overt failure by the collective collectivist so-called “progressive” left to win the public debate and enlist the hearts and minds of the electorate, despite holding pretty much all the cards in terms of funding, institutions, and control or influence over the media and internet media… I mean, if they can’t win in such a weighted game, if they can’t win at home, then something must be really wrong with what they are campaigning for… (little wonder that some would call the extremist wokefascist left),

I mean really… by any objective measure, the left pick the absolute worst candidates, when they could easily pick stronger more competent more likeable ones, and they fail against weak candidates from the right…

The left ought to ask themselves, if they aren’t even competent enough, with everything in their favour, mainstream media training wheels and all, to beat the likes of candidates offered up by the right, then are they even competent enough for any kind of job at all? Should they all just go to a special school or nursing home by now?

Stuki Moi

“..the left pick the absolute worst candidates..”

There are none better available. That’s what 50 years of completely unconstrained debasement driven transfers to the most incompetent of the incompetent will always result in. America has NO competent nor intelligent member of the upper middle and upper classes left anymore. Only braindeads who “made money” off their home.

The story is exactly the same in once-was industry: You’d think it shouldn’t be hard to pick someone competent enough to at least beat communists at capitalism. Yet here we are, at best building doors which fall off. While “making money” off our “home” and “portfolio” (translated from Newspesk: being handed debasement theft; stolen from the few remaining competents still naive enough to bother trying; and nothing else, pure and simple).

Doors falling off planes and Presidents falling down stairs, are simply two sides of the same coin: The American ruling class, all of them, anno now; are simply flat out retarded and incompetent. No exceptions. No different from Argentina. And now, even Germany is heading straight for the same fate.
