Huge Percentage of Job Gains are Related to Taking Care of Immigrants

2024 is starting where 2023 ended. Job growth is soaring, but employment isn’t. Second, the number of jobs needed to take care of illegal immigration is a huge percentage of the increase in jobs.

Data from the BLS, chart by Mish.

The surge in government jobs and social assistance jobs is soaring to handle the massive influx of immigrants.

Health care jobs are rising for the same reason but also because of demographics. Aging boomers need more assistance.

Blistering Start to 2024

  • Government jobs are 20.63 percent of all job growth in 2024.
  • Social assistance jobs are 9.25 percent of all job growth in 2024.
  • Health care jobs ae 25.93 percent of all job growth in 2024.
  • Government plus social assistance provide 29.88 percent of all job growth in 2024.
  • Government plus social assistance plus health care provides 55.81 percent of all job growth in 2024.

Denver Health at “Critical Point” as 8,000 Migrants Make 20,000 Emergency Visits

To help understand the surge in government and social assistance jobs, please note Denver Health at “Critical Point” as 8,000 Migrants Make 20,000 Emergency Visits

The Denver hospital system is turning away local residents because it is flooded with migrant visits.

Eight-thousand migrants from Central America accounted for approximately 20,000 visits in 2023. Denver Health asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide funds for immigrants’ medical costs. The state and federal governments aren’t reimbursing the hospital, which spent $136 million for patients who didn’t pay.

Texas Showdown

In Texas, the Supreme Court Lets Feds Cut Abbott’s Razor Wire

The swing vote, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, is a Trump nominee. Expect to hear calls of “traitor”. There is one way to decide this issue. Vote out Biden. The ruling does help Trump. Meanwhile, the floodgates are open.

Sanctuary Cities Seek More Money for Migrants, But is Money the Problem?

On December 30, I asked Sanctuary Cities Seek More Money for Migrants, But is Money the Problem?

Who Will Pay for This?

You will, to varying degrees.

Those in sanctuary cities like Denver will bear the brunt whether or not the mayor or governor is in denial.

Divergence Between Jobs and Employment

Another seemingly strong jobs headline today falls apart on closer scrutiny. The massive divergence between jobs and employment continues.

Nonfarm payrolls and employment levels from the BLS, chart by Mish.

Payrolls vs Employment Gains Since March 2023

  • Nonfarm Payrolls: 2,602,000
  • Employment Level: +144,000
  • Full Time Employment: -284,000

Ask any of expert except for the racists on here that we need more immigrants not less. In nc there are a lot of Hispanics in building and road work. americans won’t or are to lazy to do it

We need decent legal immigrants, not all the scumbags. Biden likes to invite all those to vote for him eventually. What a shame…

Tucson and San Diego government say they don’t have any money left to take care of the influx. Did Denver get their fair share of the 320,000 that Biden secretly flew into the country? What was the airfare for 320,000 illegal aliens? Did Biden get a discounted bulk rate? How much carbon pollution did that cause? I guess carbon pollution is OK when it is politically correct and beneficial to the political party. Denver citizens will still probably vote blue, even though they are being harmed by the influx.

The politicians in this country of criminal grifters and the people who vote for them are criminally stupid. In every election there should be a “none of the above” choice. If that wins, then the government goes on autopilot with no new legislation passed, only basic government services provided, no pay or back pay for all the none essential government workers ( most of them) and a do over election held in y months. Then perhaps some good candidates could break through this corrupt and rotten party system.

I don’t know how we stop the unbridled immigration.

Biden pretty much said we have open borders during his 2018 campaign. Even CNN is chastising him on his 2018 promises that the USA and its 300 million can absorb the 2 million or more asylum seekers. I don’t think he thought we would see 10 million during his term

They only turn back illegals that have some type of criminal record? That is if they even know about it.

If we have a recession, the government is going to have to add another 3 trillion of debt whatever year it eventually happens to support its citizens and all the out of work illegals

Really! A solution to the border crisis is very simple if the criminal class in Washington wanted it.

The Gov creates more part time jobs, bc it’s election year. New immigrants are flooding the ER. Where else can they go. Hospitals are bleeding financially. They will merge, consolidate, or go bk. Doctors and dentists are slowing down. Cities and states tax collection is down, but they can’t cut costs in the election year.
Recession will stop the illegal immigration. They will move from fancy hotels to stores
basements, packed like sardines. The number of the lower 25 percentile is growing.
Their income deflates, their anger inflates.

Not a new problem with Democrats. During the post-Civil-War period and early into the 20th century minions of the Democratic party chiefs would meet European immigrants fresh off the boats, get them jobs and housing, and then get them registered as Democrats.

The Federal Reserve and the deficit spending Congress are quite content to have Americans blame immigrants for inflation and economic stress. Blame anyone but them.

Debt-to-GDP ratios are starting to soar. In 1990, after a decade of Thatcherism, the UK owed just 21% of GDP, and going into the financial crisis it was 50%. It has now broken through the 100% barrier, and with the government borrowing more every year, and with GDP growth stalled, that looks likely to rise and rise. In France, the ratio has soared from 54% in 2000 to over 114% now, and that keeps rising as well. In Japan, it has gone from 135% of GDP to 265%, and in the US, the biggest debtor of all, it has risen from 55% of GDP at the start of the century to 129% now. Outside of World War II, when debt understandably exploded, those are unprecedented rates of increase.

So it means government is creating non-productive jobs by paying them with printed money and we are all wondering why the grocery bill is so high. Can’t wait to see it all come crashing down; Dollar is almost done, read the market.

The left never realizes the tragedies they create. They are too busy being enamored with their moral superiority to piece together the failure in economic reality they create. All things have a cost. And they simply care nothing about this piece of the equation.

All renters are paying for the 10 million new illegal immigrants through outsized rent increases. It’s a supply and demand problem the government is ignoring.

Immigrants to the rescue!
Immigrants for the win!
It’s just a cohenincidence that Europe and the US are being flooded with immigrants.

That said the average American is so lacking in the grist that makes countries great it may well be a godsend.

SS Demographics are one of those statistical nightmares. Flesh sacks were in short supply here, so they’re fixing it. That’s all it is.

If we could make 10 – 20X in Canada we’d both swim there for miles underwater to do it.

I am sure every problem in this country is to be blamed on migrants. Nothing to do with healthcare being a private racket boondoggle.

Or anything to do with our healthcare system as it exists being completely designed by government, from the delivery structure to how it’s financed.

Health care here is a joke.
US at the BOTTOM of the rankings for developed countries.
Far more expensive.
Far greater chance of death and disability from errors. They will kill you, disable you or poison you with meds you don’t need.

Kerala India does a much better job.
Infant mortality here is 3rd world tier.
