Pakistan Confirms Missile Strikes Inside Iran as Mideast Tensions Flare

Iran hit Pakistan and Iraq, Pakistan hit Iran, Israel is fighting Lebanon and Gaza, and the US hit Houthi rebels in Yemen. Who’s next?

Pakistan Confirms Attacks on Iran

Pakistan Retaliates With Strikes Inside Iran as Tensions Spill Over

The New York Times reports Pakistan Retaliates With Strikes Inside Iran as Tensions Spill Over

In an expansion of hostilities rippling out from the Israel-Hamas war, Pakistan said on Thursday that it had carried out strikes inside Iran. The military action came a day after Iranian forces attacked what they said were militant camps in Pakistan.

A senior Pakistani security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Pakistan had struck at least seven locations used by Baluch separatists about 30 miles inside the border. The official said that air force fighter jets and drones were used in the Pakistani retaliatory strikes.

An emboldened Iran has been using its proxy forces against Israel and its allies since the war in Gaza began in October. Those actions, and now the attacks by Iran itself on other countries in the region, have increased the risk that the upheaval washing over the Middle East could grow. Iran has been trying to project strength after recent attacks inside its borders had made it look vulnerable.

Iranian officials said that the attack in Pakistan had been aimed at militants who threatened Iran, but the Pakistani authorities rejected that account, citing what it said were civilian casualties from the strike.

Pakistan Carries Out Military Strikes on Separatist Targets in Iran

CNN reports Pakistan Carries Out Military Strikes on Separatist Targets in Iran

Pakistan carried out a series of military strikes on what it said were separatist militant hideouts inside Iran, in the latest incident across their shared border that has sent tensions between the two neighbors soaring.

The new strikes mean both Pakistan and Iran have now taken the extraordinary step of attacking militants on each other’s soil this week at a time of expanding conflict in the Middle East and wider region.

Islamabad said Thursday its forces launched a “series of highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes” in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan province as part of an operation called “Marg Bar Sarmachar” — a phrase which loosely translates to “death to the guerrilla fighters.”

A “number” of militants were killed during the operation, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry added.

Both Pakistan and Iran have long fought militants in the restive Baloch region along their 900-kilometer (560-mile) border but the latest incident marks a major escalation between the two neighboring powers and comes as regional hostilities in the Middle East mount over Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza.

Yemen, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria

Houthi rebels [in Yemen] have launched a series of attacks on commercial ships and Western military vessels in the Red Sea, a major artery for international trade. And Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria have launched dozens of attacks aimed at US military positions in those countries.

Since Hamas’ October 7 attacks on Israel and the Israeli offensive in Gaza that followed, the militant group Hezbollah has engaged in daily confrontations with Israeli forces on the Lebanon-Israel border. On Wednesday, Israel’s military chief said the likelihood of war on the country’s northern border is now “much higher” than in recent times and Israel is increasing its readiness for “fighting in Lebanon.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian told CNN at the World Economic Forum in Davos Wednesday that attacks by Iran-backed groups in the Middle East won’t stop until Israel’s war on Hamas in Gaza ends, as tensions across the region threaten to spiral into wider conflict.

US in New Strikes Against Houthi Targets in Yemen

Adding fat to the fire, US in New Strikes Against Houthi Targets in Yemen

The U.S. military said on Wednesday its forces conducted strikes on 14 Houthi missiles that were loaded to be fired from Yemen, in the fourth day of U.S. strikes in less than a week.
In a statement on social media platform X, U.S. Central Command said the Houthi missiles presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the region.
“These missiles on launch rails … could have been fired at any time, prompting U.S. forces to exercise their inherent right and obligation to defend themselves,” it added.

It’s about 3:30 Eastern Time and my only clue is the fact that the markets are relatively calm.

Equity markets are down about half a percent, gold is only up by $6, and oil is up less than half a percent. That’s an indication nothing major is expected from this new development.

Both Iran and Pakistan have issued statements saying they do not want escalation.

But the whole region is a powder keg.

Pakistan & Iran are in no danger of escalation.
They are striking Baluchi separatists/terrorists on both sides of the common border.
Baluchi nationalism is threat to both countries, and Baluchistan straddles the common border.
Compare to the five eye countries that use each other to spy on their own citizens to circumvent constitutional constraints.

It begins to look like they have lost the respect for the empire, and started dealing with their problems on their own. That’s good, the empire can brings its military assets home to protect the Southern border, and dismantle the ridiculous USCENTCOM and USAFRICOM.

Yeah, things are becoming clear. Iran & Afghanistan have been on the edge of war over water rights on a border river. The Taleban were proxies of Pakistan in the 90s and doubtless are so again. All of this seems to mean our so-called enemies in Afghanistan are at the service of the United States.

WW1 could have ended on the date of the 1914 impromptu Christmas truce between the soldiers. However, the governments didn’t want the war to end. The outcome of governments continuing the war, was some 60 million dead from WW2, and the trashing of much of Europe, for those who survived, not to mention the devastation caused by WW1 itself.

As Goering said, it is government that drags us into wars. It was government that wouldn’t allow WW1 to end on Christmas day 1914.

The war games played by governments never end.

That war brought an extraordinary clarity that the ruling classes are evil, and their arrogance is matched only by their incompetence – to about 10% of the rubes who fought in it. For the rest, the ruling class organized victory parades, and minted ten thousand metals instead of dozens planned for the generals.
The rubes that survived returned to the shyteholes as heroes.
If all the ruling classes received the Russion tsar treatment, the next war would have been less likely.

“Both Iran and Pakistan have issued statements saying they do not want escalation.”

“Safe and effective” was a statement. We know that statements are propaganda. What is going on in secret behind closed doors, that governments are lying to us about in public? We won’t know until some time later, when the truth comes out. Millions could be dead by then.

What’s going on, in plain view, is a very convenient cover for both Iran and Pakistan moving lots of military material to the Gulf of Oman. They can both easily threaten “anything” from there.

It appears that way more countries need “freedom and democracy. The 7 the US destroyed over the last 20+ years isn’t enough…..

Everyone knows that ONLY after millions have been killed and any semblance of infrastructure has been turned to rubble and then dust, can “freedom and democracy” spring up in the hearts of men and real lasting change can take hold. I mean the US has proven this theory so many times and just look at the success 😂🤣😂🤣

The alphabet agency and the MICCMIC have taken an antiquated screwed up geopolitical region and made it 100x worse. Congratulations. Hell awaits your arrival

Iran has struck Syria, Iraq and Pakistan and their has bewn no response. Means Iran will strike again and with more lethality. The Biden administration and supporters are taking us to the cusp of WW3 at home and abroad.

Iran used the Khyber missiles to attack Isis targets in Idlib, Syria. The Khyber is Iran
best. The Hooties used the Khyber to attack Israel. The Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 intercepted it. Iran attack might be a warning. Iran sells advanced missiles and drones to Putin. They compete with N.Korea. Israel put on hold military export worth $1.5B/$2B to support war, paying suppliers with an IOU, with Biden unfulfilled promises. If Iran launch an attack on Israel the Six Fleet might intercept them. Israel dependent on Biden is growing. The coalition attacks the Hooties is a direct warning to Iran.

With the ICJ ruling on the genocide in Gaza, it does seem plausible that the bombings in Yemen and elsewhere by US puppet regimes are distractions –

Iran miscalculated. Pakistan returned fire, and that might encourage Syria to return fire on Iran as well. I don’t think Iran is capable of winning a 2-front war. Iran may have to abandon 3H (Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthi’s) to defend itself.

Iran and Syria are buddies. The targets Iran attacked within Syria are those areas controlled by US-friendly forces so Iran was not attacking Syria but the US.

The D is the regime change party. They sack opponents. That’s their hobby. Their next target is Bibi. Biden, MBS and Al Sisi want a Palestinian state. Bibi says no ==> they gang on Bibi. Bibi must go. Blinken is dealing with the Israeli opposition. They did it before under Obama. They control the media and retired generals. No money for Israel. No ammo. The war with Hezbollah might end with few minor changes in the disputed border. Nasrallah victory. The war in Gaza might cont. The IDF vacuumed Gaza, but cannot cleanse Rafa near Egypt. The Hooties will cont to choke Bab El Mandeb. The Dow [1W] might flop on Fri.

Even less of a surprise: They both like Israel, as well as meddling American hip shooters, even less.

Meaningful militarization of both Gulfs of Oman and Aden, puts a rather big squeeze on some traditionally US, and tentatively Israel, friendly; rather significant; oil producers…

Oh?
1400 years of adjacent without an outbreak of war until Americans got involved.
Middle East is full of minorities who have survived millennia, including Genghis Khan and the Ottomans, but are all succumbing to extinction with the humanitarian interventions by Western liberalism. Forget the trope about centuries of historical blood-shed and sectarian strife … it is the current benevolent period that has brought hitherto unknown genocides.

Iraq has lost 90% of its Christians in the short time since Bush got involved.
Syria & Iraq are the most ancient church provinces, for those who don’t know, the only region with churches where they still use Aramaic (the language Jesus spoke).
