The Immigrant Crime Spree is Real, Not Imaginary, Thank Harris and Biden

Four years of open borders and sanctuary policies have brought criminal drug networks, human trafficking, and an epidemic of sexual assault.

No, You’re Not Imagining a Migrant Crime Spree

City Journal writer Steven Malanga busts the myth that immigrants are less likely to commit a crime.

Please consider his report No, You’re Not Imagining a Migrant Crime Spree

The arrest of an illegal immigrant for the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley a few weeks before President Joe Biden’s 2024 State of the Union address ignited a political firestorm. “Laken’s death is the direct result of policies on the federal level and an unwillingness by this White House to secure the southern border,” Georgia’s Republican governor Brian Kemp charged, after reports emerged that the border patrol had grabbed Venezuelan Jose Ibarra back in 2022, but that he was quickly paroled and released into the United States. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, reacting to the controversy, warned of an illegal-alien crime wave; at the State of the Union itself, Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene interrupted Biden, calling out for the president to “say her name”—a reference to Riley. When Biden did mention her name, he acknowledged that she died at the hands of an illegal migrant; further controversy ensued when he later apologized for using the term “illegal,” and not the politically correct “undocumented.”

The elite press rode to Biden’s defense. The idea of a migrant crime wave was a myth, media outlets proclaimed, noting studies of Texas incarceration data from years ago, which seemed to suggest that illegals commit crimes at low rates. This ignored other surveys, based on federal multistate data, which show a far more troubling reality. ….

The crisis is captured in the numbers: the caseload of immigration-removal operations has soared from about 3 million in 2019 to 6 million under Biden in 2023, while staffing has stayed flat.

Against this backdrop, numerous high-profile crimes—including the murder of Riley, an assault by several immigrants in Times Square on NYPD officers, and police cautions about foreign home-invasion gangs hitting wealthy neighborhoods—have intensified the debate over just how much crime the Biden immigrant surges have unleashed. Much of the mainstream media and immigration advocates, for their part, accuse conservatives of making it all up. Headlines like “The Myth of the Migrant Crime Wave,” “Migrant Crime Wave Not Supported by Data,” and “Immigrants Are Less Likely to Commit Crimes” have been common, especially after Trump made immigrant crime a 2024 campaign issue.

Most of these stories rely on studies like one from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2020, which used data from 2012 through 2018 collected by Texas’s Department of Public Safety. That study estimated that illegals commit crimes only two-thirds as often as legal state residents. Critics note that the report is limited, focusing on only one state—by necessity, since few local jurisdictions have released data on immigrant prisoners (in so-called sanctuary states and cities, intentionally so).

Entering America illegally, Chinese gangs have cornered the black market for pot in Oklahoma. Though pot legalization was supposed to ease drug-related crime, the spread of legal recreational cannabis and so-called medicinal marijuana has produced a new kind of black market, in which criminal gangs cultivate the drug and then sell it more cheaply than government-approved retailers

In congressional testimony, National Retail Federation officials detailed how crews of Eastern European illegals have launched roughly 170 shoplifting rackets nationwide.

The suspect in the murder of Maryland mother Rachel Morin, for instance, is a Salvadorean street-gang member. He fled to the U.S. after killing a woman in El Salvador, then attacked a mother and her nine-year-old daughter in Los Angeles, before traveling cross-country to end Morin’s life, say police. She was the second woman in Maryland allegedly murdered within a year by illegals linked with Salvadorean street gangs.

Venezuelan newcomers are also propelling a recent crime wave in New York City, in which thieves on scooters snatch valuables and zoom off. The scheme’s instigator, which involved at least 14 individuals living in migrant shelters, was a Venezuelan, a 2023 New York arrival.

Surveys show that a majority of Americans back illegal-immigration policy solutions that the media often describe as part of an extreme MAGA agenda. Even as the press decried Trump’s deportation promises, a spring poll found that six in ten voters endorsed a “new national program to deport all undocumented immigrants.” A third of Democrats backed the idea. A crucial starting point would be to remove thousands of known illegal felons, and to end many local authorities’ practice of releasing criminal illegals back into society. This is the least that America should do to protect its citizens, as well as those foreigners here legally.

There is much more information and links in the article. I encourage everyone to read the full thing.

Criminal Migrants Run Free in My District

Tony Gonzales Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, with Phil Gramm contributions, says Criminal Migrants Run Free in My District

My constituents live with immigration’s effects every day. Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, which encompasses several hundred miles of the southern border, is the largest border district in the nation. The approximately 11 million migrant “encounters” our country has endured since fiscal 2021 has spread violence and inflicted economic distress. Frequent high-speed chases between drug runners or human smugglers and law-enforcement agents endanger our residents.

On March 13, I sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security requesting the number of illegal immigrants on Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s docket who had been convicted or charged with a crime.

On Sept. 25, the department replied: “As of July 21, 2024, there were 662,566 noncitizens with criminal histories on ICE’s national docket, which includes those detained by ICE, and on the agency’s non-detained docket.” This includes 435,719 “convicted criminals” and 226,847 with “pending criminal charges.” Of the 662,566 illegal immigrants with criminal records, approximately 647,000 weren’t detained. This number doesn’t include those who evaded ICE’s eye.

Apologists for the Biden-Harris administration claim that illegal aliens with criminal histories are only a fraction of the nation’s population. That’s sophistic: These criminals are a significant portion of the millions of people who have illegally entered the country in recent years. How can anybody claim they don’t pose a threat? According to ICE’s 2023 annual report, between fiscal 2018 and 2020, the agency removed approximately 400,000 noncitizens, compared with roughly 135,000 between 2021 and 2023, a 66% drop.

Our communities were noticeably safer thanks to such enforcement during Donald Trump’s tenure. That ended when the Biden-Harris administration almost immediately tied the hands of Customs and Border Protection agents by dismantling border-security policies and refusing to enforce immigration laws. People with ties to terrorist groups, transnational criminal organizations and other nefarious outfits have since entered our country unchecked.

Trump’s Pledge

https://twitter.com/DarkSideAdvcate/status/1746706215789351305

“As soon as I take the oath of office, I will terminate every open border policy of the Biden administration and begin the largest deportation operation in American history.”

How Difficult Would it Be For Trump to Deport Millions of Immigrants?

On October 18, I asked How Difficult Would it Be For Trump to Deport Millions of Immigrants?

The answer is very, but there is no excuse to harbor criminals and developing a sensible vetted immigration process.

Regarding Venezuela, I have to ask how much of an economic burden did US sanctions play, crippling the Venezuelan economy, thereby forcing people to take huge risks to get here.

Stats show that crime in general (not just illegal immigrants) jumped during OBAMA’s presidency. Despite the slowdown in immigration from “Remain in Mexico” and COVID, the rise of lawlessness Obama refused to address was overpowering. Now stats are questionably lower because victims gave up reporting crimes knowing police can’t keep up with calls. This is truly Orwellian.

No, the crime rate in Vietnam was low when I worked there 17 years ago when it was still quite poor, not that it’s exactly a bastion of wealth today. The rampant arson of entire villages, the rampant rapes of women, widespread rapes of girls, and countless murder of babies was mostly a thing when wealthy Christians from the wealthy USA were there.

What I don’t understand is how the populace can’t put together that having open borders means the influx of criminals, drugs, and human trafficking increases, and that competition for limited resources increases (jobs, food, shelter, etc).

Apparently Orange Man Bad makes these things getting far worse okay because “threat to democracy” or something. I don’t remember US democracy ending from 2017 to 2021…

And that was pre-Comrade Kamala who has let in tons more illegals who have already committed crimes in their respective countries of origin. Some of these illegals are hardcore criminals and these individuals have come into the US at a much higher rate than prior to Jan 2021.

It’s asinine to think illegals aren’t committing as much or more crime than their US citizen counterparts on a per capita basis. It’s not even close.

Yet another example of the deep state & MSM carrying water for Biden / Harris.

It’s downright criminal in so far as aiding & abetting via a cover up.

Given the fact the government has no idea how many illegals are in the the USA, any figures attributed to illegals and crime, must be highly suspect. What is obvious is that an increase in the illegal population leads to an increase in crime. Something that the FBI and the usual 51 experts that Dems like to cite deny.

Trump doesn’t care about deporting people, he killed the border bill in the House by telling GOP to not vote for it so he could campaign on the border crisis. He intentionally did all he could to keep the border open for the whole election. Here are some key tenets of the Biden border bill:

 1-Codify Catch/Release
 2-Let in 1.8M Illegals
 3-Fund Sanctuary Cities
 4-Fund NGOs Moving Illegals
 5-Lawyers to Illegals
 6-Work Permits to Illegals
 7-Nothing to Deport Illegals
 8-No Immediate Wall Funds
 9-Weak Asylum Screening
 10-$60B to Ukraine

You can ignore the facts, that’s fine. I am glad it didn’t pass as it codified the unmitigated Biden/Harris border disaster. This way, if we get adults in to fix it, it will be that much easier. Meduro emptied the Venezuelan jails and apparently several other nations did the same. Keep your eyes closed if you want to keep ignoring this progressive disaster.

I believe the Maduro government paid back the United States for said sanctions by emptying its prisons and facilitating their removal to here, with the active guidance of American NGOs that get paid by the federal government to move bodies in our direction. If the cash was turned off, the NGOs would go bankrupt and close shop. The colossal network of human trafficking from the equator to Texas would grind down. But the federal government is facilitating the movement of bodies into our country to serve as slaves in the field, prostitutes in the bed, servants in the house, and future muscle (voters) for the dominant big government party.

Those 425K “ICE registered” convicted criminals in 7/24 are the accumulated result of the immigration policies of many administrations. We know that that number was 405K in 6/21 and 368K in 8/16. It doesn’t take a degree from Trump University to figure out that the Trump administration added even more to the list than the Biden administration. The problem here is not Biden or Trump, but immigration policies that make no sense and that can only be changed in a bipartisan effort. Senator Lankford tried hard but failed because of MAGA politics. Trump is promising easy solutions that don’t exist.

They just admitted vaccines are not properly studied—neither pre-licensure nor post-licensure. They admitted, for example, “prelicensure clinical trials have limited sample sizes [and] follow-up durations” and that “there are not resources earmarked for postauthorization safety studies.”

He was being sarcastic. Tariffs on cheap imports and enforcement of only hiring legal immigrants will lead to moderately higher prices. But more jobs for locals being paid the proper way (not under the table to illegals) will make more Americans have a higher standard of living and at the same time the burden on taxpayers paying welfare and free hotel rooms to illegals will be gone.
You will pay another few dollars each week as your fruit and vegetables will cost more but save hundreds on your insurance as you will no longer be paying for uninsured illegals smashing into you.
Maybe your town will turn back into Mayberry instead of being Mogadishu or Haiti.

You’re optimistic about the fruits & vegetables – who do you think will harvest them? Even the South American produce is shipped to the CA farms, to be packaged and sent cross-country.
True, many farmworkers are illegal, but they are experienced.

I was being facetious. You’re the one who made the comment the other day about starving people to force them to work (for low wages). But you were actually being serious. How about we starve YOU and force you to take low wages?

Noone is forced to take low wages if they don’t want to. If you need money and don’t have an income then you suffer the consequences.

It’s only a few apartment complexes that have been taken over by Venezualan gangs. What’s the problem?

Wait…what was the question again that MSM and academic studies tried to answer?
Why not if someone breaks into your house uninvited, should any amount of crime already be too much?

I thank Trump for killing the bipartisan deal.

The oath of office, and defending the Constitution, is just another charade for Trump. Ask Mike Pence. Or recall when Trump announced his campaign way back in 2021:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump faced rebuke Sunday from officials in both parties after calling for the “termination” of parts of the Constitution over his lie that the 2020 election was stolen.

The feedback loop of Republican conspiracy theories and misinformation is similar to model collapse: Output has become gibberish.

The bipartisan border deal was a joke. Sen Langford is a midwit. The deal said the president MAY close the border when asylum applicants reach 5,000 in a day. MAY is different from SHALL, especially after three years of a democrat president throwing the door wide open and allowing all manner of criminals in. Biden, Harris and Mayorkas want an uncontrolled border.

Not only that, but that border deal would have codified “catch and release.” And that 5000 count didn’t include “got aways”. In reality, it was just an amnesty bill and would have done nothing to increase border security. A Trojan Horse.

Democrats violate their oath to the Constitution. Illegal immigration is against the law. The First Amendment is a constitutional right of the people and Democrats are attacking it. They attack the Second Amendment, which is a right of the people, as well. Democrats want to fundamentally change America, which means they want to get rid of the Constitution.

You can blame whoever you want, but no one shoulders the blame for inaction at the border other than the current president, period. We don’t need more border agents, we just need to allow them to enforce the laws already on the books. Your TDS is showing.

Seriously, you wonder if the USA “crippled” Venezuela via scantions? No, they crippled themselves.

USA simply pulled back contributions to creeping socialism/authoritarianism after rule-of-law failed and refineries, etc, were nationalized (starting 1976).

In 1973 Venezuela had the highest per-capita income in Latin America; now, via redistribution, everyone is equally poor.

One might say the debt of the 1980s crippled VZ … but Wall Street made their profits.

you have to wonder even more about the objectivity of the press using a study with data through 2018 to defend the Biden administration that did not commence until 2021

Agreed, but you’re not supposed to notice. Here in “Fentanyl Sanctuary” southern Oregon one knows the score when the supine media reports on cartel dope raids where dozens to a hundred or more “workers” are routinely released and free to go.

Chinese illegal gangs have also cornered the illegal Weed market here in New Mexico. Larry Barker a Albuquerque Investigative reporter for a local TV station ran a story on it a few weeks ago. He found several illegal pot grow farms ran by Chinese that the government had done nothing about months after he found several of the multi-million illegal grow operations. He also found multiple weed store fronts illegally operating. He found the state has no legal authority to shut down the operations. Then can be fined, but there is no mechanism in the law to force closure. There was also a recent article about the same thing going on in rented homes and warehouses in California.

It is incredible that the left wants to erode the rule of law and create chaos when for the most part they are the most effeminate, weak group who will fare worst when violence can flow freely. They don’t know how to defend themselves and despise toxic masculinity, so when they destroy our civilization’s rule of law they will make easy targets. Moreover, in a civil war their dense concentrations in highly rigid, long supply chain and JIT low inventory level dependent cities will be their downfall.
