Trump to Immediately Declare a National Emergency Regarding the Border

Trump will be sworn in Monday at noon. Huge changes on immigration and DEI coming up.

National Emergency on Immigration

The Wall Street Journal reports Trump to Sign Executive Orders on Immigration, Energy, Government Hiring

President-elect Donald Trump is readying a blitz of executive orders that he plans to issue just hours after he is sworn into office, wielding his executive authority on day one to push forward his top priorities related to the border, energy and government reform.

Stephen Miller, Trump’s incoming White House deputy chief of staff for policy, briefed a small number of senior GOP leaders Sunday afternoon about the administration’s plans. They include declaring a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border, rescinding Biden administration directives on diversity, equity and inclusion and unwinding President Biden’s limits on drilling offshore and on federal land, Miller told the lawmakers, according to Capitol Hill Republicans briefed on the call.

Part of Trump’s efforts to overhaul the federal government will be aimed at rewriting hiring rules for employees and creating a new process for firing others. The president-elect will again sign an executive order, known as Schedule F, which he issued in October 2020 to eliminate job protections for federal workers, the Republicans said. The Biden administration had previously blocked the order.

Trump is expected to declare a national emergency on the border, Republicans briefed on the call said, which would in turn unlock additional Pentagon funding and assets to help address the matter. He is also expected to order troops to help build more infrastructure at the border. The president-elect will direct his administration to relaunch a policy known as Remain in Mexico, which requires migrants seeking asylum at the southern border to live in northern Mexican border cities during their U.S. court proceedings.

Trump also plans to designate cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and restrict entry to the U.S., likely through a travel ban. It couldn’t immediately be learned how any travel ban might work.

Besides the border-focused immigration orders, Trump’s advisers have also been planning immigration raids in several major cities during the first few days of the new administration, according to people familiar with the discussion. The cities that are expected to be targeted include Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., Miami, Los Angeles, Denver, New York and San Antonio. The scale of the raids and the number of cities that will see increased enforcement activity remains in flux.

You’re going to see executive orders that are going to make you extremely happy—lots of them,” said Trump to supporters at an arena in Washington one day before his inauguration.

The border will be shut soon. How fast deportations happen is in question. Sanctuary cities that plan to defy Trump will be hit first and hardest.

Senate Democrats Help Republicans Pass Laken Riley Immigration Crackdown

On January 17, I noted Senate Democrats Help Republicans Pass Laken Riley Immigration Crackdown

Democrats see the light. The Laken Riley deportation bill passed the Senate easily.

Heading Toward a Sensible Policy

On December 24, I commented Trump Backs Down From Strong Sweeping Deportation Promise

Both Trump and his border czar are sending strong messages that Trump’s deportation plan won’t live up to his campaign hype.

Deal for Dreamers

I suspect Trump privately got some heat from some governors who understand the economic insanity of “deport them all”.

Regardless why, I get to say “I told you so” once again to those who cling to every word Trump says.

To get a bill through congress for more border patrols, ICE agents, and to finish the wall, Trump is going to have to cut a deal.

And that deal will be amnesty for dreamers.

If you want to know what kind of dreamer deal to expect, please see my November 7, 2024 post The New Home for Hispanics is the Republican Party

Upon reflection, Trump is moving quickly. Democrats would be wise to quickly seek a deal on dreamers in return for immediate deportation of criminals, discounting the act of being here.

Complete shutdown of the border for incoming illegal migrant flow is critical. Fix that problem, whatever it takes.

Really hoping Trump can deliver on his promises. He has a lot of work ahead of him.

Biden preemptively pardoning his crew and his lawless son, Hunter, is the biggest middle finger f**k you he could send while walking out the back door, like a shyster thief at 2 in the morning. I have nothing good to ever think to remember this abysmal administration for future references.

I do not know how TRUE this may be: it was heard from many corners of the LEGAL Hispanic/Latin Communities that THEY do not agree with illegal immigration because THEY followed the rules and became Naturalized US Citizens, learned English and integrated in American to find new lives. THEY are against the illegals.

Make us proud! Hurry up & get John Saur, Solicitor General, in place, so he can request certiorari in the SNOPE V BROWN AR-15 case. It’s time to put AR bans down.

Easy, David, I’m not talking about gunning anyone down. I’m just saying, like tens of millions of law-abiding gun owners that it’s time to smack down AR bans.

My personal 2A stance is that you should be 21 to buy a handgun and 23 to buy an AR. I would remove suppressors from the NFA as well as SBRs, but I’m fine with adding binary triggers & bump stocks to the NFA.

Many dreamers were born here through no fault of their own. The better policy may be to deport their parents. Many of these so called dreamers are now young adults 17 or over. We shouldn’t encourage more people to come here and give birth to children here just for birthright citizenship. Those kids should not be able to sponsor anyone to come here. Who knows how to make it all workable. The bottom line is no dreamer should be able to sponsor anyone to come here, even their parents or grandparents. They are all anchor babies.

Will he also sign an exec order preventing Haitians from eating dogs?

More shiny objects coming Monday. More red meat for the base

After the swearing in, pageantry, parties, governing starts on Tuesday 24/ 7.

Given the state of the bottom 80%, $1T in interest on the debt, homelessness, malnutrition, Ukraine, the rise of nationalism in W. Europe, jingoism, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, zionism, S. China Sea, Russia, the bond markets, just to name a few should keep Trump busy.

Talking points are cheap.

The next 3 – 6 months will determine Trump’s legacy.

I wish him luck.

Stopping DEI, shutting down the border, militarizing it, etc.will not solve the big problems the US created or had involvement in manifesting. DEI, blaming immigrants, bullying our southern neighbors will not ameliorate what plagues the US.

Trumpo has to hit the ground running with the Nonsense issues, such as DEI which is a dead man walking already, right? He has to be able to CROSS THROUGH the easy ones first. That is what I always did in new jobs (Identify the easy problems to fix).

I watched the first 5 – 10 minutes of Trump’s speech after the swearing in ceremony but had to turn it off due to a leopard not changing his spots. His words were blame the other Party for the ills of this country, how great the nation would be after he takes office and how he was miraculously saved from the assassin’s bullet. After the latter remark, I turned off the TV. It was Trumpesque to say the least.

I was sincerely hoping that his speech would be Kennedyesque circa 1961 inaugural with a new vision for America. Challenging our citizens to do better. A peace initiative for the Middle East. An acknowledgment to China that they are an economic competitor but not a military adversary. An olive branch to the Global South. Scheduling a peace conference with W. Europe, Ukraine and Russia. Investing in American jobs. Investing in education. Taxing the oligarchs or privileged wealthy economic elites that have reaped nearly all of the benefits while not sowing the seeds of shared prosperity that they had a limited hand in creating.

What I did see were billionaires behind him in the VIP section but no MAGA working class citizens. What I did read were corporations and billionaires paid for the inaugural.

So, if the Donald wants to continue similarly as he did last time with a dystopian speech then the next day saying had the biggest attendance at an inaugural ever, etc. he is well on the path but with a nuanced difference.

His tone was not positive, humble, thankful, ingratiating to those that he will need their help if he is to make America great again. Successful presidents after winning a second term such as Lincoln and FDR reached out to those that were left behind in their first term acknowledging that more needs to be done for them. Trump did none of this…

Bernie Sanders is proposing reforms on H1B Visas and voiding all H1B visas in companies where a company layoff of a citizen occurs first. Bernie has stated for decades the problem with H1B visas but lost the narrative in 2016 when he lost the primary. If you told Americans that they could go back to 1980s level prices on everything and better employment for citizens, I think the vast majority of them would be happier even if the stock market tanked by 50%. Remember only 50% of Americans own assets in the stock market. It could be very painful but for 50% of the people who own nothing in assets other than maybe their house, they won’t care. Trump could do what Bernie wanted all along but just by crashing the economy instead of taxing.

Trump should use the extra 80,000 tax men to do a simple audit of any industry that might be employing migrant labour. Now if the employers are verifying the employees, paying the mandated minimum wage (or higher), covering workers comp and other expenses then GREAT. If not and depending on how bad the infringements are either make the employer get fully compliant or prosecute.
That removes the incentives to higher illegals under the table at below the minimum wage. It means injured workers costs are not passed on to everybody else and the employer has an incentive to provide a safer workplace.
Good employers suffer because bad employers can undercut them and legal employees (native or migrant) will have more employment opportunities. Only losers might be shoppers who have to pay a few pennies more for a punnet of strawberries picked by workers getting their proper wage.

Dreamers always get in state college tuition. Citizens do not.

Free K-12 education for dreamers, albeit small property tax paid by landlords from their rent, which citizens would also had contributed for that exact same rental property.

Rent increases due to government paid rentals for dreamers which is a large tax drain. Government paid rentals for illegals increase rental costs for Citizens due to increase demand for rentals and hotels.

DISENFRANCHISED CITIZENS. PRIMARILY THE POOR CITIZENS. DREAMERS KEEP THE POOR DOWN.

Fact check me.

Oh you can’t, the government withholds the numbers and the facts.

How about a fee for a dreamer to become a citizen?

Dream on.

Actually they were born here. I say deport their parents and let anyone over 16 stay. We should also end H1B, L1 and any other work visas completely and void all work visas for a period of 5 years. Effectively we need to stop all immigration for 5 years and let things settle before any new policy even on legal immigration is made. We have enough people even without legal and illegal immigrants.
