I struggle to see how sending aircraft carriers to the Mideast can help. But I do have three explanations why Biden has reacted that way.
Politico reports U.S. May Send Second Aircraft Carrier Toward Israel.
The U.S. could soon have two aircraft carriers in the eastern Mediterranean, according to Defense Department officials, a move that would mark a major escalation in U.S. military power in the region as fighting intensifies between Israeli forces and Hamas militants.
The aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, along with its associated warships and fighter jets, was already scheduled to depart from Norfolk, Va., this week and may be ordered to deploy to the waters off the coast of Israel, according to two DOD officials who were granted anonymity to discuss future operations.
The ship is slated to leave Norfolk on Friday and could reach the eastern Mediterranean by the end of October if ordered, one of the DOD officials said. At that point, the Eisenhower would join the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford and its strike group, which the Pentagon ordered to the waters off Israel on Sunday as a show of force after the surprise attacks on southern Israel.
How Can This Possibly Help?
It cannot, unless the goal is for the US to enter this war. All this action does is present a candy store of targets for some crazy ass terrorist.
How is one carrier, let alone now two, an appropriate response to what is essentially a guerilla force?
I don’t believe terrorists have the resources to actually hit anything, but that many not stop them from trying. Besides, why tempt fate for utterly no purpose?
Three Explanations
- They want to provoke a broader war or simply don’t care if they do.
- They are stupid and don’t know it.
- They know it’s stupid (or at least debatable) but believe they must do something politically even if nothing makes sense militarily.
Politically speaking, Biden wants to court the Jewish American vote. But risking American troops for no clear military purpose is improper.
Sending battleships is a huge liability that needlessly creates a target for the terrorists to attack. They probably won’t hit it, but they could try. Besides, there is no conceivable gain, so why take the risk?
The move also increases the odds that some Hamas sympathizer in the US decides to take action here.
Trying to be the World’s Policeman
The US cannot afford to be the world’s policeman and even if it could, what do we have to show for it?
The idea that Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, or Hamas poses a direct threat to the US (or ever did) is nonsensical.
Yet, here we go again, demanding more military spending and meddling with no explanation as to how we pay for it.
Vietnam Era Mentality
The WSJ board takes every opportunity to demand more money for military spending.
And that is again the battle cry in a WSJ editorial Wake Up Washington.
This is the exact same mentality that got the US into Vietnam and kept us in Afghanistan for two decades.
The US wasted $2 trillion in Afghanistan and $3 trillion in Iraq. We have nothing to show for it but more enemies.
If the US did not meddle in Ukraine there might not be a war there now. John McCain led the meddling trying to get the Ukraine in NATO.
Going back further, the CIA overthrew a democratically elected government in Iran in 1953 to steal their oil.
And we wonder why they hate us.
Wake Up WSJ!
Yesterday, I commented The WSJ Editorial Board Wants to Fight Them Over There Not Here
Bin Laden hated the US because we had US troops on sacred Arab soil. That does not justify 911, but it helps explain it.
So, don’t be surprised if we see negative reactions here due to senseless action there.
The biggest risk of fighting them here is we are constantly meddling over there.
Also consider Surprise Hamas Attack Spawns Fears of Wider Mideast War and Oil Disruption
Sending carriers in harm’s way certainly doesn’t help.

Israel going to “war” against Hamas/Gaza is like the US going to war against Haiti. It’s laughable to even use that word. Enough with this already. One side needs to win and (as my wife likes to say) “get it over with.”
Israel could finish the job in a few weeks and be done with it. Give the Palestinians some place in a large desert and make it into the new Dubaiestine. Start from scratch and build something nice.
Yes,totally agree sir ,
Worldwide social mood is collapsing. The U.S will see summer riots ,election riots, military draft , etc. I expect NATO to be pulled in to some sort of military action before March of 24. Economies will collapse due to extraordinary debt .
The U.S is dead broke yet spends money like a drunken sailor . The hangover will be a broken up country at best or a bloody civil war . Throw ten dollar a gallon gas into the mix and inflation beyond the lies of the government narrative ,rent ,food and housing that the plebes cannot afford and you will have some very restless citizens .
The good news is that I had some delicious coffee and smoked bacon this morning .
Our masters demand and we must obey, we may have a major war kick off and the Israelis have been losing a lot lately…
Repeat of the 80,s. Reagen sent the big stick……Battleships. If I recall we got the hell out of Lebanon.
Mish, the answer is obvious. The MIC needs something to do, and we will absolutely be entering this war.
This is the beginning of WW3. That’s the only way to eliminate our deficits, by eliminating the creditors.
Elephant in the room not being discussed.
Iran is months away from nuclear weapon. Not a great leap if you are willing to behead infants and use civilians as human shields, you would be willing to use nuclear weapon against Israel.
Israel/US has no choice to take out nuclear facilities in Iran. No choice. Wider war inevitable.
This is psychotic. Iran has been months away from having nukes for many years . It’s lying Israeli propaganda. If they truly wanted them, they would have them by now.
Sure, why not plunge the whole world economy into ruin? Oil at 150 – 200 dollars a barrel to push debt collapse. And the beheaded infant story looks false – as even White House staff backed away from it and Israel won’t prove it.
The US can not afford a ground war. Ammunition is short, resources are short and debt is climbing. They can’t even get anyone to join the military, despite attractive pay and benefits. Those who want in are 80% unfit for service. They can’t even draft because the population of young men is so obese they don’t qualify. Our enemies know this, none of this is a secret.
Answering “Cui bono?” serves us here as well as any other problem in the world. Otherwise, we’ll forever struggle with the question why the most heavily guarded and monitored border on earth was so EASILY breached. Thus:
Netanyahu is still personally fighting corruption charges
His government fell and was in chaos
The largest demonstrations in Israeli history due to judicial reform
Relentless killings of Palestinians by IDF forces
SOMETHING had to be done to unify the Israeli people and save Netanyahu’s neck.
And then… [fortunately for Bibi, but nobody else] a full-scale invasion & mass murder occurred.
One doesn’t have to be a wild conspiracy theorist — one simply has to ask “Cui bono?” and hypothesize…
US, among other countries, is afraid of Hezbollah involvement, which in other words, means Iranian meddling in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. We know beyond doubt that Iran controls the Hezbollah. There are also rumors that Syria’s Assad will feel a weakness and want to join the “party”.
The sole function of the carriers in the eastern Mediterranean is as a deterrent. As President Biden said : “I have one word for you. Don’t”.
when i read people typing the terrorists can hit………….i really just have to LOL at the idiocy. the global war on being scary really did dumb down so many amerikans, even Mish typed it. FFS please.
pax dumbfuckistan is making all the same moves of all the previous over extended empires before us. from spain and france to romans……..
israel is our number one state. our congressman travel there more than any other state. it is more important to them than CA TX or FL……..it’s really sick. the israel lobby and MIC in cahoots. and in the long run, israel will suffer. the blowback for being our bitch will for certain end up in israel’s demise in a few decades. i’ve told all my jew and gentile pals, the israelis have been played. now it is reported, which seemed obvious to me, that netanyahu knew about attack. and he even sent funds to them. and of course hamas was a creation of amerikan and israel to go against arafat. ron paul summed it up long ago. nit wits who vote in amerika are just like the congressman. too dumb. which means dangerous.
And just like that, Ukraine has moved from Page 1 to Page 2 or 3, all the way down to Page 18 now (if it is even mentioned at all).
is there anything happening in ukraine. russia did already win the land they wanted there. access to warm water port at crimea…….the uke flags will be in landfills by halloween.
Israel ordered a natural gas rig off its coast to be evacuated to minimize the loss of life in the event of missile attack. Chevron co-owns the rig. The warships could be used to protect the rig.
Unfortunately, the USS LIBERTY is not available for this deployment.
that incident has been cancelled. ME TOO uss liberty
Is this really needed to combat a bunch of starving guys living in rubble who may have some raggedy rockets and a few motorized parachutes in their arsenal?
By the time the carriers get there all that will be left is dust and pulp.
Well, 40 more F-35s are not a trivial contribution. Israel only has 50.
1) US and Israel’s national interest is a “Systemic Change” in the ME after 75 of bloodshed. Gaza needs a change of behavior.
2) Egypt and Jordan wouldn’t tolerate an Iranian entities on their border.
3) Syria and Lebanon are sandwiched between the Six fleet and H3.
4) Israel locked up Gaza after a Palestinian assassinated an Israeli shopper buying tomatoes in Gaza. Since the 1980’s the Gaza population has tripled.
5) The starvation plan might fail if Al Sisi will threatens to dissect Israel after
two years of trigger pictures from Gaza, or Erdogan breaking Gaza blockade.
6) The risk of a war between Egypt and Israel, or between Turkey and Israel is higher than Israel vs Iran, Syria and Hezbollah.
2024 elections knocking on the door and every US candidate needs Jewish money and Jewish voters. I do not mean it as irony it is simply a matter of fact. Arabs have money but no voters in the US. Financialized democracy forces the US to take side of Israel. It would be better to stay neutral and try to profit from balancing act in the Middle East. If Israel goes wild and starts war with Hezbollah and Syria then US will have to activate Kurds in Syria as its proxy force. That will force Turkey to join in on Arab side and destroy Kurds. That will be proxy war between US and Turkey. Not smart but big money always win. P.S. Obviously I do not support Hamas and what those guys did in Israel. I am just a neutral observer.
How CNN reports are filmed
“A CNN report of the genre “we bring you the truth, because we are under bullets, in the very center of events, which means everything we say is true” thundered on the air for 6-7 hours, while within the framework of “here are additional materials, look how tough it is there “One of the employees did not upload the original recording with sound to Twitter – apparently by mistake.
On the air it was all accompanied by the text being read by the announcer, but live it was like this.
Yes, there is a guy telling him where to run, how to lie down, where the operator should move, how to behave, and so on.”

Thank you.
I think I shall watch “Wag the Dog” tonight.
The reason Biden sent the carriers is as a deterrent against Hezbollah from attacking Israel and escalating the war to becoming an existential threat for Israel. Additionally, as Hezbollah is a proxy army of Iran, that would also draw Iran into the war and risk much greater escalation. It’s a smart move by Biden.
OK, If Hezbollah fires rockets please explain what the Dwight Eisenhower sill do.
The reason Biden sent the carriers is to prevent the American people from fully understanding that they have become irrelevant.
To clarify, the carriers have becom irrelevant, not the American people.
100 percent politics. netanyahu and biden knew attack from Hamas was coming. ffs this is great for the 2 of them. the nitwits love war. nit wits out number thinkers.
What type of rockets? The carrier is a moving target. Hezbollah’s rockets are able to hit only a fixed location. Israel’s Iron Dome calculates the trajectory of each rocket and fires only at those which might hit someplace important and the USS Eisenhower does the same thing. It sees the rockets and has plenty of time to move away if by pure luck the rockets happen to be aimed at a sport the ship is at.
…Bravely bombard the hillsides of Beirut like U.S. cruisers did in the 80s. Its a show of force with zero consequences — or so they might imagine.
Hamas’ Terrorist War Against Israel: There Is No ‘On the Other Hand’
PURPLE NATION
By Lanny J. Davis
October 10, 2023
I spent the weekend and most of Monday engaging in back-and-forth with fellow progressive Democrats who were trying to change the subject on the clear black-and-white facts about Hamas’ terrorist war against Israel. I kept reminding them of four indisputable facts.
Fact one: Hamas openly declares it hates Jews. It is an openly bigoted, anti-Semitic organization. Its public charter, which it calls its “Covenant,” states: “Our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious.” The Covenant actually endorses the notorious fraudulent anti-Semitic rant, used in part by Hitler to justify the Holocaust, the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
Fact two: Hamas’ invasion is not about supporting an independent Palestinian state. Hamas denies Israel’s right to exist. It rejects a two-state solution. The head of its political bureau, Khaled Meshal, stated this plainly at a 2012 rally in Gaza: “Palestine is ours from the river to the sea and from the south to the north. There will be no concession on any inch of land.”
Some commentators, attempting to explain the Hamas invasion over the weekend, blamed the establishment of the state of Israel as the reason why there is still no independent Palestinian state. That is false and contradicted by undeniable historical facts. For example:
…
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2023/10/10/hamas_terrorist_war_against_israel_there_is_no_on_the_other_hand__149874.html
When states and organizations write things like that believe them because they are telling you exactly what they want to do and how they plan to do it.
What is missing is the Protocols of the Millennials of Zion.
Ukraine is ours from the river to the sea and from the south to the north. There will be no concession on any inch of land.
These people are all fools.
It’s simple, the aircraft carriers are a warning to Iran, Syria, Russia, etc. to mind their knitting and don’t get involved.
If past is prologue, that may not end well.
Maintaining 10 carrier battle groups is a way of putting a lid on US welfare spending.
Pretty sure the Iranians don’t hate us for 1953 any longer. Polls show 80% of them hate their regime and want it to go away, and will be vastly pro-Israel and pro-America once it does.
Persians are good talented people. They have Islam foist upon them and become rather agnostic given the chance.
The US needs to bomb Iran and thereby generate a counter reaction that helps sustain the regime. This way, weapons sales and exploitation of Middle East nations can continue
OK so why do we alienate the average Iranian citizen?
Americans have Tupperware.
Huh? Explain.
I DON’T think that is true Mish. i know a shit ton of persians. for decades.
Aren’t two US nuclear aircraft carriers about the same size as the Gaza Strip?
Almost. Looking to buy it?
The poulation of Israel ages 20 -65 is about 5 million. Imagine if Israel had provided an AR15, five 30 round magazines, and a little training to every adult citizen. Cost would be about $2,000 per person, total cost under 10 billion US$. Circumstances would have been a LOT different.
They use a lot of Uzis and AK-47s.
99.9% odds it is strictly a political show.
0.01% they believe it will reduce the odds of escalation. Maybe some other nation will think Israel is distracted and open to attack. A US presence makes it easy to understand that such attacks would fail.
Best case scenario, the big showy part of the Israeli response will end in a month. That will be followed by a series of Israeli assassinations of anyone who looks like a terrorist leader, similar to the US assassinations of terror leaders in Afghanistan and Pakistan since the Obama administration.
Worst case, ideologues escalate, Iran loses a city or two to Israeli nuclear weapons, and Russia + US have to decide whether to end civilization. Pray the US fleet presence reduces the odds of this path.
I agree. Its a show of force. Its the military version of waving the flag and publicity stunt.
A show of force that we’re “doing something” when there’s very little we can or should do,
US planes bombing Gaza with 2.5 million civilians would make us the #1 enemy hated by 1.3 billion muslims worldwide
US fleet is capable of intercepting Iranian’s ballistic missiles and short range
missiles from Lebanon.
Unpopular opinion from a European.
How about you stop trying to police the world by ‘bringing democracy’, establishing 750+ military bases and provoking internal conflicts in other countries.
Europe was forced to ditch cheap Russian energy for…wait for it…expensive American energy!
At the expense of the common people that are paying 3x more than before.
‘Cheers’ for liberating us from cheap energy. Surely messing in the region since 2014 and provoking a full-blown war was worth it to certain interests…except 99% of us.
Thank you for your help in WW2, but stay the hell out of backyards that don’t belong to you….
I’m sick to my stomach by cruelty, acts of terror, innocent lives being lost. I won’t take sides, because there isn’t a side that’s innocent, respectable or acting responsibly.
But after hearing about this for +50 years, the same people, the same countries, the same opposing groups….I’m fatigued by propaganda and 50 years of meaningless destruction and people dying. Over and over and over.
And if you’re offended by these opinions, just imagine the continents you’re living on being demolished and used as pawns in geopolitical games of chess.
To further the interests of a select few at the expense of the masses.
Completely agree and wish to see a neutralist US foreign policy.
Thanks Harry and Richard.
Yet, two preposterous thumbs down.
What ?
Where are you going to keep Military – Industrial – Congress – Complex?
BEST COMMENT ON THIS BOARD AND MANY OTHERS. I’M AMERIKAN WHO ALSO VOTES IN EU. I CONCUR. WE ARE ASSHOLES AND GREEDY ASSHOLES AT THAT. BUT VERY DUMB. THE DUMB SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
re: “The US cannot afford to be the world’s policeman”
Yes, the U.S. $’s strength since the GFC, is largely due to the contraction in the E-$ market.
E-$ borrowing used to be less expensive for U.S. banks. But Powell eliminated reserve requirements on March 26, 2020, and Sheila Bair implemented assessment fees on foreign deposits, which changed the landscape of FBO regulations.
Which ones were brought out of mothball? We have no active battleships.
“US May Send a Second Aircraft Carrier to the Mideast, Can That Possibly Help?”
It helps if you need to bomb the shit of things and people obviously. That’s what they are good at.
The escort vessels are really good at shooting down ballistic missiles coming from say Iran to Israel. They are also useful for many many other things but if your basic premise is that all spending on the military is a waste then I suppose you would see no use in sending the carrier group there.
Those aircraft carriers have to be deployed somewhere (after all we paid billions for them). It might as well be in a hot spot as opposed to just off the coast of Hawaii.
They don’t have to actually do anything (ie bomb any targets) while deployed there (we deploy all over the world all the time and never fire any weapons or drop any bombs). Plus even if they were somehow struck by some missile they aren’t going to sink. Neither Hamas nor Hezbollah possesses anything powerful enough to sink a carrier.
Carriers are little more than targets to modern precision guided weapons.
Hey you are stealing my call sign! Not faire. I am the only true Doug here.
Precision guided weapons are targets for carriers.
It’s not a matter of sinking it, what’s the proper reaction if they send a swarm of drones?
What type of drones? The task force is not going to anchor just offshore.
As Doug said they don’t park offshore. The sea is hundreds of miles wide North to South and almost 1000 miles long. Drones would need very long range to reach and that’s assuming they know the precise location which constantly changes as it moves.
A swarm of drones sinking a carrier? That would be difficult….Remember the carriers have 20mm Phalanx guns….Which will tear to pieces the drones. Remember, the drones would have to pass the entourage of ships surrounding it.
Another possibility is that the U.S. presence is aimed at preventing Israel from getting out of hand in its response (from our perspective). Right now, Israel is taking it from three sides, and letting the other guys define the place of engagement in two of them. If Bibi decided to take the northern conflict to Beirut or Damascus (not likely, given the weakness of the new “unity” government), Uncle Joe would be there to say, “The U.S. is on your side (of course! of course!) but let’s not get carried away.” If the lovely Arab states misunderstand our intent, the U.S. could indeed bumble its way into someone else’s war.
How does this make sense.
Is the US going to attack Israel to keep them in line?
Get real. It would say if you want X from us, you can’t do Y.
Viewed fro Israel; who are the only ones in the neighbourhood with any realistic ability to do serious damage to a carrier group unless the whole crew is dead drunk: The most important benefit of having all those high profile US assets there, is that hitting some of them clandestinely, can serve as a convenient means of getting the US behind going after Iran.
Viewed from the US, it’s about the only way left, to desperately attempt to maintain the illusion that “we” are still all that important in the region. Which “we” increasingly no longer are.
The Russians are all over there now, that their hands are no longer tied by needing to maintain amicable relations with The West. Chinese engineering and construction firms will rebuild, and newbuild, infrastructure in Gaza and the wider Palestine. Which will make it an awful lot less attractive to bomb it again…. And Superfox Erdogan is, as usual, chomping at the bit to insert himself into the middle of any emerging reality.
Once the regional powers suddenly have other options wrt “superpower” to cosy up to for weapons, aid and, wrt China, an awful lot more; the probability they’ll continue to hold their nose and play along with an increasingly backwards and broke US due to it being seen as a necessity, is a cold, hard zero +- zero.
a strong possibility. most don’t get that isreal is our bitch. our offshore platform for oil……….we abuse them by using them. but we love having a bitch there. so yes, we will let them do damage, but not too much. because they will get wiiped off globe of they go too far. and we don’t want that. we love our bitch.
“..isreal is our bitch..”
If Israel is our bitch; “we” really are the most thoroughly pwhipped simps on offer anywhere.
Which would be about true to form for the current “we.”
Not cool overthrowing democratically elected governements…
even when it is your own.
The left says that israelis are illegal immigrants, and that palestinians were so happy belonging to the british and turkish empires…
They defend imperialism and really HARD treatment of illegal immigration at the same time. It’s funny.
Not really… The Palestinians tried to revolt against the British in the 1930’s, and got the usual treatment from the colonizers – they were disarmed fully. In 1948, armed to the teeth Israelis could simply take over the role of the British. The world let it all happen, because victims of WW2 must surely be victims forever.
The facade of the invincible Israeli army is falling away, that is why we are going in…we will be sending in ground troops as Israeli don’t want to die for a fake country.
after 9.11 people realized we suck and shouldn’t be feared. after a few years of our war front………..same with israel. they got ass beat by lebanon. we got ass beat by iraq and afghanstan. embarrassing crumbling evil empire 101. how the spanish empire went down over decades in 1800s.
The American response to anything in general is to bomb it.
Muscle memory.
It’s symbolical, to affirm their support since they’re out of shells and interceptors too.
Hamas can’t target them, but perhaps Hezbollah does have the wherewithal, although they seem to favor defensive war.
A particular George Carlin bit comes to mind.
‘If you can’t f*** it, BOMB it!’
He’s been right about pretty much everything.
Carlin found the magic formula to making a lot of money as a comic and has been imitated by about 5000 comics since. I admire that. Till he came along Cynical Comedy was underdeveloped.
“The American response to anything in general is to bomb it.”
In fact, I once heard eternal warmonger Bill Kristol say about Syria (I suppose), “Why don’t we just bomb it and see what happens?”
i’m friends with his nephew. grandson of irving kristol. the poor bastard a really nice chap, and whip smart, hides out far away from DC and anything political. he is embarrassed. and guilty. like being hitlers grandson………very evil family.
Lol, stick with economics.
If that is all you have to say, go away.
Otherwise offer an intelligent rebuttal.
Go ahead.
Working on a good buttal.
Re-buttal will come later.
Are you sure you want to tell people you are working on your buttal and are going to do it again later on?
You must not be from Minnesota. Then you would offer a “Yah Buttal”. As in:
Minnesota Dude #1: “Wow. 1.4 billion Chinese! That’s a lot!”
Minnesota Dude #2: “Yah, but they are drinking Coke now, so that’s something.”
If you’re honestly not picking up on the accuracy of what Mish is saying in this article, I suggest you go back to CNN or the likes.
I guess it’s hard for some people to hear painfully obvious conclusions that counter everything they’ve been told by the talking heads.
Carry on Mish. We appreciate you.
here here. bully bully
Same thing happened during Blackhawk Down. I was on the USS Lincoln at the time. We were about to pull into port in UAE then we had to head over to Somalia.
I remember one of the pilots saying what are we doing here and that there was nothing to bomb but a cigarette factory. I get it’s a show of force but against what exactly. They are already getting the living snot bombed out of them and far worse cutting off their power and water.
That was a long time ago. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan found airplanes from carriers very useful in keeping them alive as anyone there would tell you. I don’t think the carrier group would have to this because the Israelis are not fighting an army like in 1973. Nevertheless they are very useful in several domains that Israel needs.
Aircraft carriers need to be kept out of range. A couple of well armed fighters with sidewinders can take them out as can many cruise missiles. They stand no chance against hypersonic missiles even if their CIDS works perfectly. They can travel 2 miles in a second. By the time CIDS detects them, it’s too late.
Sidewinders are short-range air-to-air missiles made for dogfighting so you are using the wrong missile. Cruise missiles can be shot down and the destroyer’s Standard Missile 3 is made to take down ballistic missiles. It has a speed of over Mach 10 itself (4.5 km/s) and does a very good job. Their radar can see the incoming missiles from very far away. It is not easy at all to hit them let alone sink them.
Carriers and other military boats have radar jamming equipment aboard. Only a handful of countries likely possess the technology to track them. China and Russia obviously but the chances any Middle Eastern country has that kind of tech on their planes or shore is unlikely. They’d need to be in visual range and long before that, they’d have been shot down.
If it was so easy to take out ships via missiles and drones then the entire Russian Black Sea fleet would already have been sunk by Ukraine.
and we wasted 5 and 4 trillion losing those wars. we are dumb. our people are dumb. and worse, dumb and war like. bad combo.
Spot on.
Another weird thing is how the far right (20-30%) has a bunch of anti Jew conspiracy theories and basically does not support the jews as human beings in the US, yet loves the political government of Israel as long as it is authoritarian. Mixed in is some weirdness about the Jews being God’s chosen people and this is their land, even while they claim the Christians have taken God’s favor over the Jews. That is theological confusion. If we follow the same baloney, we must give Texas through California back to the Mexicans and the rest back to the native Americans. Then we could all be squeezed into a little area the size of New Hampshire behind a fence like the Palestinians. I suspect we would fight.
There’s a lot of confusion.
Some people are celebrating killing babies, but are really fanatic about whether it’s Israeli or Palestinian babies, although technically the Palestinian babies are Israeli too, and none of the babies know which side they’re on: It’s like gender, the doctors and parents just guess at birth.
Apparently a lot of people think that the proper response to killing babies is: This means we should kill babies too then.
Allow Governor Ralph Northam to arbitrate any beheading / killing of babies.
when a child is born there is no guess work. Plumbing is different.
israel is an apartheid state, but more importantly a bitch, a dumb bitch at that, of pax dumbfuckistan. the worst thing to be is an ally of ours. dumb fucks. i hope they smarten up before they are blown off the map into the sea. i really do. peace.
Ever spent time there? Obviously not. MSM rules your mind.
I understand Admiral Rickover told Congress that carriers might last a couple hours in all out war ( decades ago).
I propose a new wristband for people to wear as a reminder. Instead of ‘what would Jesus do’ or ‘what would Buddha do’, it should be ‘what would Lee Kuan Yew do’.
Thanks for correction and comments on battleship

Lindsey Graham wants to bomb Iran whether they had anything to do with the Israel attack or not. Trump wants to bomb Mexico so tell me again how Republicans are the peace party?
What is happening is horrifying and all we can do is position for profits so we can move away from it all as quickly as possible.
Democrats are the war party. And many republicans favor war too. NoVa is now democratic.
Iran has already admitted they helped plan & fund the attacks. Iran is the #1 global sponsor of terrorism.
Now, this doesn’t mean it’s time to send in the Marines, but this thing could start to go sideways very quickly.
And write this one down. There WILL come a time when the US military will be forced to take the fight to the cartels south of the border. That’s a FACT!
Again, not sure that day will come under Trump’s 2nd term, but it’s not 10 years down the road either.
No, Iran did not admit it helped plan and fun the attack.
https://www.timesofisrael.com/iran-denies-it-had-role-in-hamas-attack-on-israel-claims-accusation-is-political/
Iran said the exact opposite.
If that is true then I won’t be able to get my Burritos and Enchiladas… 🙂
uniparty of dumb warmongers. FFS how can anyone be hung up on R v D in 2023. too dumb.
It’s not a battleship, it’s an aircraft carrier.
You probably meant warship.
And yes it’s a giant target for any drone in range.
Aircraft carriers and destroyers. Not battleships.
Aircraft carriers are slow big targets. They can be taken out fairly easily with modern weapons.
Yes, China is building some of these slow, easily sunk targets. Who knows why?
Uh, probably to move planes. Same reason everyone else builds them.
They also have hypersonic weapons to sink them. Which is why all the Saber rattling over Taiwan is so dumb. Well, that and the fact that we get all our manufactured stuff from them.
https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/israeli-ground-forces-get-cold-feet?utm_source=profile&utm_medium=reader2
“They can be taken out fairly easily with modern weapons.”
Good luck…..
The US carriers are VERY well protected. Much more so than towers in Manhattan, to point out the obvious.
But yes: Part of the protection is the ability to stay near indefinitely out of harms way. Which I would hope the Ford will do, even if nominally moving closer to Israel. If they do decide to anchor up in front of Southern Lebanon then…., oh well, peak DumbAge, finally….
Exactly. As someone said, a modern navy has just two things – 1. submarines 2. targets (which includes aircraft carriers, warships, destroyers etc. etc.)
That was coined by submariners during the Cold War.
