Would Build Back Better or Horse Hockey Smell Better With a New Name?

Tweets on Rebranding President Biden’s “Build Back Better” Agenda

Rebranding Yet Again!

The curious thing about this announcement is President Biden and the Democrats have already tried and failed at rebranding at least four times.

  • November 17, 2021, NBC: The White House and Democratic leaders have rebranded the legislation as an antidote to widespread price hikes. “Want to fight inflation? Support Build Back Better,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
  • December 8, 2021, US News: Biden, trying to rebound from sagging poll numbers, rebranded his Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework as “Building a Better America.”
  • January 20, 2022, The Hill: Pelosi: Build Back Better may need to be ‘more limited,’ renamed. “‘Chunks’ is an interesting word,” Pelosi joked at a news conference marking the one year anniversary of Biden’s inauguration. “So what the president calls ‘chunks’ I would hope would be a major bill going forward. It may be more limited, but it is still significant.”
  • February 4, 2022, Bloomberg: Biden Is Rebranding Reagan’s Supply-Side Economics to Save His Agenda. The president dropped his first hint in a speech on Jan. 7. Then two weeks later, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen used the term “modern supply-side economics” to describe Build Back Better and Biden’s wider economic agenda. The corners of social media patrolled by Washington’s policy wonks, journalists, and assorted commentators lit up instantly. New York Times columnist Ezra Klein tweeted an excerpt from the speech with the comment: “Into. My. Veins.

Shakespeare: “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”

Mish: Horse hockey by any other name would still smell as bad.

This reminds me of creative slogans by Colonel Potter the smash TV series Mash.

The last quote in the above clip was “Horse hockey, pardon my French”.

Colonel potter was apologizing to Father Mulcahy for using such strong language.

We do not need another attempt at rebranding horse hockey hoping to make it smell better. Nor will it smell any better broken up into “chunks”.

Rather, we need to understand horse hockey, pony pucks, road apples, buffalo chips, and mule muffins are what the Democrats seek.

And we need to avoid them all, no matter what name the Democrats come up with.

Meanwhile, please note rising debt. On January 31, 2022, the US national debt exceeded $30 trillion for the first time.

US National Debt Tops $30 Trillion, No Problem Says Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen

I commented on debt in On January 31, 2022, the US national debt exceeded $30 trillion for the first time.

Biden claims Build Back Better will not add to debt. That’s a lie, especially regarding Progressives’ intent to make their plans permanent.

“Then two weeks later, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen used the term “modern supply-side economics” to describe Build Back Better…”
What was it, the Commodities and Futures Modernization Act, back in the late 1990’s? What’s old becomes new again?

CFMA was part of St Ronnie’s deregulatory wet dreams come true, and signed into law by the corporate DONORcrat President at that time, BJ Clinton.

It is cute to see right-wingers pretend that the DONORcrats want any of this legislation to pass!    Just look at California.  75 percent majorities in the Assembly and state Senate, plus the governorship.   And they didn’t even put the single-payer health insurance bill to a vote!
Yet we still keep hearing the same old bogus “left” vs “right” nonsense.   Both the parties are right-wing parties.  Period.  Both are corporate-owned and pro  big business and pro-war.   The only difference is the Republican Party pretends to be pro small-business and the DONORcrat Party pretends to be pro-labor.

That’s because California is planning on wasting over 100 billion on a High Speed Rail boondoggle that after 15 years has yet to lay any track! They clearly don’t have any extra money to waste since it’s all going here. Had they not started this boondoggle they likely could have paid for free health care for decades.

High-speed rail cannot be used as an excuse by anyone for the DONORcrats avoiding passing single-payer, be it their fans or their detractors.  The truth is that the DONORcrats are bought and paid for, just like their Republican buddies.

The plans will easily pay for themselves.Deficit spending and labor laws will increase inflation to the point where most houses are worth $30T.

The name isn’t the problem. The problem is BBB will actually build very little back better. Instead it will fix global warming and change roads so they are no longer racist. In a few years there will be nothing to show for all the money spent. Not any different from our foreign wars.

Biden should take lessons from Elon Musk on how to name things. This
is named Mechazilla and it is so cool a name for what it does.

They should rename Biden as Mechazilla. I’d definitely vote for President Mechazilla

Joe Biden, president. A man barely alive.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him back better. We have the technology. We have the
capability to make the world’s first bionic man. Joe Biden will be
that man. Built back better than he was before. Better… stronger… faster.

Mish, in case you haven’t noticed, the text of recent bills has mostly focused on government subsidies of price increases, rather than building real infrastructure. Time to reconsider hyperinflation as a government goal/platform? Heck, the FHFA just raised conforming loan limits by 20% just to cover the last year!

Reagan already named it, “I’m from the government and here to help.”

What we need is a NEW INITIATIVE, and this can easily be done by inserting one more vowel:  Build Government Back Better (BGBB), along with the Great Government Reset.  In this scenario, we tear down all government completely and start over, we would probably find that we can do just fine with about 10% of what we currently have.

Correction:  I meant to say “one more noun.”  When I said “vowel” I was thinking, rhymes with “foul,” as in:
The Foul Stench of Big Government Over-Reach.   Hahahaha.

Since it’s designed to fight climate change/lead the way on energy transition, I propose that Biden call it ‘The (S)tartlingly (H)igh-cost (I)nfrastructure (T)ransition Deal’.
I’ve bracketed what the name of the Deal can be shortened to 🙂

How about just something descriptive like spend more money that we don’t have as quickly as possible because the global debt ponzi is going to collapse pretty soon anyways.
What do you think?  Too long?

The debt was under $20t when the previous arse took office with the promise to bring it down to 0.  He ran up it $8t instead.

The global debt ponzi does not pause for the current figurehead in office.  They bow to it, not the other way around.  Anyone who tries to collapse the Global Debt Ponzi will collapse the GDP.  It will eventually collapse anyhow.  Nobody can stop it because no Ponzi ever ran forever and no, it won’t be different this time.

Build Back Better is perfect.
It dovetails with all the Great Reset Agenda and Global Agenda Whatever goals.
And it strongly implies catastrophe … after all, you only build back after it’s gone.

I propose calling it Build Back Quest. That way we could refer to it as BBQ and as we all know everyone loves BBQs and no one is against.
