DeSantis Drops Out of 2024 Presidential Race, Endorses Trump

It’s all over for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Nikki Haley is now the sole Republican challenger to Trump in the Republican primary.

And Then There Were Two

CNBC reports Ron DeSantis Drops Out of 2024 Presidential Race.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed front-runner Donald Trump on Sunday, two days before the New Hampshire primary.

“If there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome — more campaign stops, more interviews — I would do it, but I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources if we don’t have a clear path to victory,” DeSantis said in a Sunday social media post. “Accordingly, I am today suspending my campaign.”

“Trump is superior to the current incumbent Joe Biden. That is clear,” DeSantis said. “I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee and I will honor that pledge. He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican Guard of yesteryear, or repackage formed have warmed over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.”

DeSantis is polling at 6% in the Granite State, compared to Trump’s 50% and Haley’s 39%, according to a CNN/University of New Hampshire poll conducted between Jan. 16 to 19.

Everything Forgiven Now

Regarding the rift between Trump and DeSantis, everything is now forgiven. DeSantis is in the fold. He will no longer be “Ron DeSanctimonious”

I want DeSantis to focus on Florida. There is a lot to clean up here.
Also, he started reasonable and then got some PAC money. All of a sudden, he was supporting sending money and weapons to Ukraine. He became a neocon overnight. That forced me to reconsider that he would ever make a good President. Either his original assessment that Ukraine wasn’t in our strategic interests was incorrect or he was easily swayed by hundred dollar bills. I think it was the latter.

DeSantis is a big dummy. All he had to do was ride Trump’s coattails straight into ’28. He gave the coattails to Vivek who has a much brighter future as a result.

Trump picked Pence as his VP in order to secure the evangelical vote. He owns that vote now. DeSantis doesn’t bring anything to the table that Trump doesn’t already have.

I think Haley can hang in playing rope-a-dope using trump’s insane statements against him and credibly offering herself as more electable, which is plausible. BUT GOP nomination process favors more extreme less electable candidates. She’s at least ambiguous on several important issues to voters. trump’s sole purpose in life now is to avoid prison & bankruptcy and wreck revenge on his perceived enemies.

If Haley is smart she’ll just wait for the courts & father time to do the heavy lifting while she floats like a butterfly

It’s quite amazing, and a very sad comment on America, that one of the two political parties is excited to vote for a guy who is only running for president to “avoid prison & bankruptcy and wreck revenge on his perceived enemies.”

…And the other party is voting for a guy who no longer remember why he is running…..

The Marxism is strong in you. Biden dictated that people take the unsafe Covid shot, not Trump. Obama said he had a phone and a pen. Newsom kept Disneyland closed for an entire year. Marxists love to project onto others what they themselves are doing.

Covid shots turned out to be harmless. Unless you’re scared if needles or something. It was also optional, not dictated that people take it.

Are you serious? The COVID shots turned out to be anything but harmless. We still don’t know the damage. And it was dictated. People were told to get vaccinated or lose their jobs. Biden’s administration tried to force vaccinations via OSHA. The courts stopped them. They couldn’t do it directly. They needed to get corporations to force people to get vaccinated. That is legal. Not moral or ethical, but legal. COVID shots are part of the reason why our military is below strength with a serious recruiting problem.

Gord

Reply to  RoyS

Utter nonsense. Data show that the biggest reasons for the military’s recruiting problem are because people 1) are afraid of dying or PTSD, and 2) don’t want to be separated from loved ones for an extended time. Plus the military’s standards on visible tattoos, marijuana use and even ADHD medication keep many potential recruits away. COVID shots aren’t the problem.

No vaccine is “harmless.” There are side effects with every vaccine known to man. A very small fraction of people are seriously harmed by them. The benefits vastly outweigh the harms.

That’s the reality of any effective medicine. Would you refuse a vaccine if you had rubella, Diphtheria or tetanus, on the off chance you had an adverse reaction?

Haley won’t ever drop out. Now that DeSantis is out she doesn’t have to spend her campaign money. She’ll stand in 2nd place if Trump is found guilty of a charge that would make him ineligible to be President then the RNC will nominate her.

And that has always been the plan of the establishment GOP. They don’t want any real change other than a change of power so they can get the larger share of the grift. The wars continue and the money keeps flowing to DC interests.

There is no charge, that I am aware of, that would disqualify Trump. No insurrection occurred, by FBI admission, and all other charges do not disqualify Trump, even if he was in jail.
With that being said, Trumps VP pick would then take over.

If Trump won the Presidency in jail he could commute his sentence and go to the White House. I highly doubt Trump would pick Haley for a VP.

RNC will have to retink the nomination if trump’s a convicted felon, trump might even yield to her if she polls as a better chance vs Biden. Job #1 now is for trump to avoid Club Fed and a Haley presidency offers that in a pardon, impeding state actions will be tougher but he can delay and then play the health card to avoid real hard time he deserves.

So it would appear, as though Trump was absolutely correct, by not unnecessarily dealing with debates that were useless to Him. Although they helped him decide on a VP.
Most of the Candidates were “Useful Idiots” putting on a puppet show, for their Pay Masters. DeSantis (gone) was the possibly pliable RINO pick, Haley (Done) was the RINO wet dream pick, and anybody but Trump was virtually everyone else’s pick, that isn’t a true Conservative Candidate.
The only candidate that stood out to me in that regard was Vivek, and he would appear to be nestled in nicely for that VP Slot.

Especially since he can help deliver Ohio which is a key state.

Then as VP he will be happy to take over for Kamala at the border and actually do something. Trump will know somethings being done there.

I believe the main reason Trump has so much support is because of how the liberal are weaponizing the judicial system. Anyone wheter they are Trump supporter or hater should be appalled at how corrupt the system has become. As a result we are ciricling the drain even faster. How pathetic. As for Trump’s policies they are anti-capitalist. He is a dem in sheeps clothing. Our “economic prosperity” under Trump was a false illusiont. He cut taxes and incresed deficity spending. Not to mention the historical unprecedented deficit spending during Covid in a patheic attempt to buy votes. His policies contributed mightily to the inflation that followed. Brandon’s contributed to it even worse. All this to retain power. Our leaders have failed us they are traitors. Lets review Trumps first term. No border being secured, I admit he improved it but not completed. No immigration refrom to allow hard working immigrants to come in and do the work fat lazy americans collecting welfaare won’t do. At least Clinton required able bodied welfare reciepients to wor, until Obamaination repealled that mandate. His tariffs contrbuted to inflation. Protectionsm is anti free market capitalism. He increased military spending and failed to make the rest of our allies to contribut their fair share so we could scale back our defense budget. I do give him credit for getting rid of ISIS however. God help if he wins more chaos more deficits. God help us even more if that corrupt ahole Brandon wins. Its like the saying: “We have come to a cross road. One path will lead to destsruction and dispair the other to complete anniliation. Let us hope we can pick the right one. “

You have to remember that every parasite in the Deep State, welfare-warfare uniparty swamp was against Trump; which included most of the RNC which is RINOs and Neocons, except for the Freedom Caucus.

Trump wasn’t supposed to get through “the system,” and the Imperial City’s apparatchiks will do anything to stand against what voters and the citizenry want; a secure border, and end to endless unwinnable proxy wars, an end to runaway spending, honest money, free markets, term limits, etc.

I think DeSantis could have won the Republican nomination if his campaign had embraced the Dick Morris triangulation concept that helped Clinton win in 96. Simply Morris had Clinton start behaving like a Republican Christian conservative family man. Early on the media was able to successfully portray DeSantis as a far right hateful, homophonic bigot. Clinton was successful moving right. DeSantis should have moved left where the country is politically. DeSantis should’ve emphasized there’s room for everyone in America, gay people, trans people and develop a sense of humor while continuing to embrace family values, border security, toughness on crime and economic growth, fairness. When I mentioned these ideas months ago to a friend, they said I was a hopeless RINO, part of the problem. I said you have to compromise to win elections, gain power to ever change anything. Democrats understand this, Republicans obviously don’t.

I think you misunderstand Trumps support. Trump is a lifestyle, not a set of policies. Trump is the F150 King Ranch of politicians. The King Ranch says you do manly stuff that requires a big truck, but you are important enough to buy one that says you’ve “made it”. You buy it because it makes a statement about who you are. Being a Trump supporter means you are a true American, a creator and heir of the greatest country that ever existed. You are great because America and Trump are great. DeSantis, indeed no one, is going to get these folks to vote for anyone other than Trump. The Great Man certainly wouldn’t lower himself to debate with such little people.

Everyone will eventually come home on the left and Trump lost badly last time so even worse this time. Also, a sizable percentage of sane republicans will vote for every republican on their ballot and just fail to check the presidential box. This is only if Trump isn’t convicted of sedition or doesn’t keep slipping into dementia.
After the left wins big then all we have to do is show them what monetary sovereignty means and how the new monetary paradigm of Gifting wildly benefits everyone individually and commercially. And thats bye bye for political and economic conservatism and libertarianism. Too bad too sad.Genuine new paradigms change EVERYTHING. Keep that in mind Mish.

Oh, probably no reply because the single policy of a 50% discount/rebate policy at retail sale mathematically doubles every democrat’s and republican’s purchasing power, doubles the potential demand for every enterprise’s goods and services (the definition of good economic times) and also ends the biggest bitch of republicans, namely inflation…forever.

My new paradigm policies aren’t partisan…they’re INTEGRATIVE of economically orthodox OPPOSITES.

To the orthodox on either side of the theoretical duality new paradigm concepts are always initially absurd. That has always been historically true. No one here including Mish will discuss this matter with me because the policies I suggest create mathematical and temporal universe realities with which to rebutt any actual critique…if one actually looks at them. All responses to me on this thread have either been ad hominem or so generalized they’re not critiques at all. No guts here, and no insight except old and anomalous orthodoxies. Sad.
